From a childish point of view, I will choose Jay Chow. From a girly type of view I will choose Lee Hom. From Quality point of view, Lee Hom song has better quality.

I would have to say Lee Hom because he knows how to play sooo many instruments, and he's just brilliant at composing.

DARN IT!! I just typed out a wholeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee speech on JAy and LeeHom and I accidently switched to a diff site when I searched in google for something. I thought it was giong to open a separate tab . Well anyway, I think LEEHOM has the better looks and voice.. But he's trying a little to hard to be this .. American-ish hiphoppy thingy.. Both of them have that RnB/HipHop feel in their music, but LeeHom's faster songs are whack. SERIOUSLY. And his dances/choreography is whack too. Jay's, on the other hand, are MUCH better. The way he mixed BA WO HUI LAI or dad i'm back or something like that with that one song w/ the mongolians? I don't know what kind of people they were, but it was at his incomparable concert, and it was just CRAZY man, I LOVED it. And it was the coolest thing ever when he played that flute! - something LeeHom can never do... well unless he learned it I geuss. But academically, leehom is more talented, but he's had better schooling than jay. He came from a frickin' richa** family, didn't he? Or at least I thought he did, and so hes smarter and stuff and got itno the better schools and knows alll those freakin languages, but Jay.. man.. he barely made it thru high school and look at him now. A diamond in the rough. So iono.. maybe thats why leehom knows more about how diff sounds blend together and stuff and you know.. has those folkish american-er songs. So i guess I think LeeHom is more talented in those criterias .. but.. Jay .. man.. he's just sooo good. whenever i hear his songs come on, I can't skip it.. I just CAN'T click next on the stereo because they just attract you at an instant. But I do like leehom's slow songs tho. His fast songs are whack, but a lot of his slower songs are great. Overall, I'm going to have to choose JAY. He stands out from the crowd.. I think it's his style.. his cooool attitude. some people say his attitude annoys them, but that's just the way he is.. and maybe since only his mom was there to raise him when he was a kid and his dad wasn't around a lot, he got sort of 'barred' and 'trapped' and maybe that's why he has a hard time expressing how he feels in public and stuff.. But anyway, yeah I choose JAY.. it's uniqueness that counts.. i honestly dont know whats different about him, but i get a different feel from his music.. some of his incomparable concert outfits were pretty cool too . It's little things like that that matter to me.. And that one song with that screaming-ish noise, that song's heckkkkka good! sorry i don't really know the song titles >< i just recognize them by sound. but yeah, in that song, who would have thought to put that little noise in there and make it into music? his raps are off the hook too :]. Leehom will never be able to top his raps. and that one yeah.. mongolian-ish song or w/e; wayyyy too hard for leehom to pull off. he wouldve never thought of the music/lyrics to that .. although I'm not sure if jay wrote/composed them ><. But yes, leehom's smarter; i think that's the only reason people's choosing him- because he knows more .. and that language stuff (since that kind of counts as talent), and his looks.. but i think jay is better w/ music .. more captivating and makes ya crave it more... even tho his voice isnt all that better than leehom's. but then sometimes, his voice is perfect for the song's mood. in his raps, i think his voice is perfect for 'em.

but i honestly think people are choosing leehom because of his looks.. and plus, leehom's cute, but he looks like a ittle BOY! Like a teenage boy lol. a littttttle teenage boy. and he seems like a pretty boy too. the conceited "i'm-so-pretty-and-i-know-they-love-me" type.. but okay.. this is my first post here :]. but i'm at school and i gotttttta go.b ye bye!



yeah, i DEFINITELY agree. He's himself, and he has his own signature style. He stands out, you know? Like, if you heard a song by him, you'd know right off the bat that it was him on that track because of his voice. And yeah, he doesn't always think about attracting all the girls and all that.. he just goes w/ his instincts and his own style. Well, everything xserene said up there about Jay, I could repeat about Leehom. Both of them can play multiple instruments and compose awesome songs, and both of them rose to fame only because of their musical abilities. They weren't 'discovered' like some other random people are. As an avid play-by-ear pianist, I find myself enjoying Jay's music, but find that the general chord progressions for his ballad songs are too similiar. On the other hand, Leehom has different arrangements for each of his ballad songs (making his songs harder to learn)

They both compose, play, and sing beyond comparison, and they're perfect in their own right. They both win.

I prefer Lee-Hom, from the aspects of appearance and music... Jay's songs are quite similiar each time he releases a new album/song... and the lyrics are good, but sometimes too deep to be understood, and some of them don't match with the songs...

Lee-Hom is talented, and i like his songs so much more, because he did a variety of music in different styles/genres/themes.. not to mention his ability to be able to play so many musical instruments

people say jay's music is always the same.. i can say the same for leehom... his shangrila. and hua tian cuo sound the same.. every time i hear either one i think its the other song.... if i hear shangrila i think its hua tian cuo... and when i hear hua tian cuo i think its shangrila....

and for leehom's songs... ummm.. how do u say.. not all his songs are nice... his aicuo is my favorite song off of all his albums.. but others i just can't seem to ever listen to the whole thing...

if its a live singing performance i would say lee hom clearly wins over jay chou. However, listening to their music cd's...its hard to say who is more talented based on that alone

My vote goes to LeeHom. When it comes to music, he has more versatility than Jay. He tries out different kinds of songs and most of them are great! Whereas for Jay, I think he's trying hard to save the Earth or something.

oh well, he didn't reuse anything so there's nothing for me to write on the reuse part. My sister's crazy about Jay Chou and I've heard all his songs, from the first album to Still Fantasy. &I see no improvement, no change in his music. It's still the same. Like, Jay's new song 'A Secret I Can't Tell' is quite different from his old songs but somehow, I just find some parts similar.

Let's just hope that he'd be able to surprise me in his new album.

Come to the lyrics part, LeeHom seems more talented than Jay. I mean Jay's touching and fantastic lyrics are all written by Fang Wen Shan. The lyrics he wrote... just ok-ok, i suppose. Even his fans admitted that.

LeeHom surprises me a lot. He's an ABC and his chinese isn't great. But the lyrics he wrote is good! considering that he learnt chinese at quite an old age.

Vocals... Hmm. Actually Jay doesn't really mumble that much when singing, just when people's interviewing him and all, i find it hard to make out what he says. His vocals aren't all great and all. LeeHom is better(: &LeeHom sings LIVE well toooo!! Jay's LIVE is like.. urgh. Not exactly the best.

Since this is talent, I guess LeeHom wins since he also plays 10 or more musical instruments[: Although, I can't deny that Jay is very talented as well. I guess LeeHom just surpasses him by that teeny little bit... otherwise, I just lean towards LeeHom that teeny little bit =D

I'd go with Lee-Hom. I feel that Lee-Hom's songs vary more than Jay's. He can switch from hip-hop to ballads to R&B and even to oldies. Whereas I thin Jay's style stays pretty much the same. Jay's songs are nice, no doubt, but I admire Lee-Hom's versatility more.

Leehom might have a good voice but sometimes he doesn't know how to use it in the right way. his new album's nothing fantastic, really, he doesn't know how to create a proper blend of quality, style and character ( in his songs, I mean).

Although jay chou mumbles and his voice might not be as solid as leehom's, he's still much more talented than him overall. he makes good blends, right dashes of style and character here and there. and he can play his musical instruments really well - seriously, a person who can play his instruments extremely well (have you seen jay chou REALLY playing the piano with his heart? GO WATCH SECRET.) is more talented than one who can play many but can't really play them that well (like you know - jack of all trades and master of none?). Besides, jay chou is without any doubt a superb lyricist/ music composer and has now even directed a movie (and a great one at that). and he can be clear if he wants to. heh.

so there. JAY CHOU WINS HANDS DOWN. (:

Okay, I know I hate reading paragraph responses so I'll bullet point my argument.

- If you took into consideration all the time when Jay wrote songs for other artists, you can't say he immediately jumped into stardom. Both artists took time to get used to the entertainment circle and fame arrived accordingly.

- Musically, even though Jay has studied tons of theory and has applied it to his music, Leehom has studied not only theory but instruments themselves. Plus he's written a musical =] Jay may play the piano well, but that's it. Leehom's knowledge allows him to rock out on violin, guitar, drums, and piano.

- Sidenote: Leehom's good looking too Jay just looks mean and arrogant =[

- There's no doubt that Jay CAN sing and that his voice is full of personality. However, his vocal control can in no way compare to Leehom's steady vibrato and mad vocal range.

- Sometimes, I really think Leehom is confused when he tries to implement so much into a song. But he deserves mad props for going out there and experimenting with what he can do. I feel like Jay constantly plays it safe with his style; I fear he'll soon run out of things to write about (although I am pumped to hear about his new Brittish rock-esque album).

- Honestly, was Jay's movie all that good? I've only seen Initial D and I thought that movie sucked. However, Leehom scored a spot on Ang Lee's Lust, Caution. That shold give him a few points for acting, since Lee's academy award winning and all...


You know what's really funny though? I have a 10 year old sister and she thinks all Jay's songs sound the same. It makes me laugh.


So yeah! Leehom gets my vote for his overall being a good role model. He's dedicated to what he does and doesn't let stardom turn him cocky. Plus it's so obvious that he's working hard. For an ABC to be singing songs like Luo Ye Gui Gen... that's mad impressive.

I like both Jay Chow and Wang Lee Hom's songs. I've only started listening to Lee Hom's songs recently. I think Lee Hom's songs are more high quality and sings better and clearly. Lee Hom always bring something new and surprising for his album, he has several style of songs. Jay composes really good songs aswell and his songs are usually pretty consistent but his songs are the same style. Overall it doesn't matter I'll still listen to both of their songs but Jay's songs can get pretty boring.

I had just recently caught on to his music. After listening to his latest CD, i couldn't help but get the whole collection! This guy is amazing AND Good looking! AND I dont speak/ understand mandarin. I'm starting to understand some of his songs. This will never happen with Jay because I feel like he slurs.. =T

leehom after first listening to his songs, i fell in love. seriously this guy can SING. he can sing realy well. his voice is like a magnet!

to me i find is songs more um nutritious. there are types of songs! whereas for jay there are very few if not none at all. leehom really makes sure to change and freshens up everything.

another thing i want to mention is that leehom is globally aware. not many artists can do that. sure they can promot people to be entironmentally friendly but very few takes action. i'm proud of leehom- using recycled paper to wrap his cd, passing out recuable chopstick. this man is really changing the world for the better. like his lyrics in changing me " a little bit of change makes a big difference" i respect and admire leehom.

lee hom wang, i think he sounds cooler. He can rap good. For soem reason, i have some jay chou songs where he raps and i really do not like it. It soudns really weird. But i still like jay chou though. hes alright.

Anyway here's my opinion:

I really think both are very talented and amazing artists. I think they're even more talented than world wide famous american singers for example. Because both Jay and LeeHom can compose, write, sing, play several instruments, act...etc etc.

But I think Lee Hom is more talented for the following reasons:

- as some people already have pointed, LeeHom is always trying new styles and is reinventing himself while Jay keeps with the same style of songs and singing. If you have doubt about this...just check the 1rst album each of them released and compare with their latest album. You'll notice how LeeHom sounds diferent and how Jay sounds almost the same as when he first started making music.

-LeeHom has more vocal hability, play much more instruments, compose & write most of his songs / Jay has a limited vocal hability (but dont take me wrong...i like his murmur style of singing), he plays many instruments but not as much as leehom, he compose most of his songs but he doesn't write most of them. (I've read comments of people saying jay lyrics are sometimes more interesting than leehom's, but these ppl seem to forget that most lyrics they think were written by Jay were not written by Jay)

-Both can act not badly...but you have to give pro to LeeHom 'cause he was casted by ANG LEE!!! And Ang Lee would never cast someone he thinks that doesn't act well.! ;)


Other random aspect:
LeeHom is more of a role model than Jay. LeeHom is the son, brother, father, boyfriend, grandson, friend or whatever....everyone would like to have. He's polite, intelligent, talented, hardworking and has many other great quality.

Jay is talented and also hardworking but he's not always setting good example for people in the personal aspect. Some people said it's because Jay always like to act cool or that the fame has got to much in his head, but I don't see it this way. I think it's because Jay is more shy or doesnt have as much patience with the bad things about fame that LeeHom has. I think Jay has more of a quick temper than LeeHom.

So in the personality aspect. Both could learn with eachother. Jay could learn to be more patient, polite, easy going and gentlemen as LeeHom. And Leehom could learn with Jay when it comes to express himself when he's not satisfied...I mean...sometimes LeeHom seems to be the type of person that can be taken advantage of because LeeHom seems to be the person that is so polite and nice even when people are being mean to him. So I think it would be nice to see leehom not being good boy all the time. do you know what I mean?



Anyway, in an overall...
I would definetely vote for LeeHom because besides all the aspects I wrote, he was the one that made me get into chinese/taiwanese music.
So if it wasn't because of LeeHom, I would never be introduced to Jay's music.
But don't get me wrong...I also love Jay (not as much as I love LeeHom though), Jay's songs and his unique murmuring sing voice. :)

I really would like to see these two singing, composing and playing together! It would be a dream come true! :)

Leehom has only impressed me HEAPS with his Heroes Of The Earth album, the album was amazing.

I;'ve yet to hear more of Leehom's stuff, though Change Me was a little dissapointing seeing to me it was a step down from Heroes.

Jay on the other hand almost never fails to disappoint... but this is just a bias opinion atm.

Jay Chou. His voice is nice, his songs are really unique, and he has by far the most harmonious raps in the music industry (which actually enhance the song rather than detracting from it)...

Lee Hom is more of a performer and singer, which is why I prefer Jay.
