Myolie Wu Hang Yee gained 40 pounds to film "Lush Fields Happy Times," morphing from "Hang Yee" to "Fat Hang." As Myolie's weight shot up, her coverage by the press increased. Perhaps she is the recent champion in terms of exposure in the entertainment industry. Many people also believe that Myolie has a good chance to win the Best Actress award at this year's TVB anniversary.

Gaining Weight for Her Representative Work

In 1999, Myolie was the 2nd runner up in the Miss Hong Kong beauty pageant. In 2002, she won the Most Improved Actress award due to her appearance in "Golden Faith." Five years later, she stood out with "War of In-Laws." This year, "Lush Fields Happy Times" has not been released yet, but it is already a big hit.

"Although some reports have speculated that I might win the Best Actress award, I am not thinking about this matter. This series allowed me to reach a certain target in my career, but I did not film this with hopes of winning the Best Actress award. When the public received my chubby image so enthusiastically, I was already very happy. If I receive the award, that is just an extra bonus!"

"Some reports said that my personality became irritable after my weight increase. 'Lush Fields Happy Times' was a very tough filming project; I had a lot of screen time. In one week, I only slept 2-3 hours and there was no time to even eat meals. Without sleep, it is understandable that a person will become irritable."

"I am an emotional person; I can be very happy one moment, but when I think of sad thoughts, I will become quiet. I am not venting against anyone, but just wish to keep silent. Maybe that may have lead people to think I was upset at them. I have long looked past tabloid reports. Even if I did not act improperly, the press will still publish it [the way they want to]. For example, I did not inadequately expose myself [in my bikini during the filming of 'Lush Fields Happy Times'] but the press reported that I did."

Looked Down by Others at the Start of Her Career

In the industry for only 6 years, Myolie has already attained TVB's top actress spot. 1999's Miss Hong Kong crown winner, Sonija Kwok Sin Lei is still trying to repair her career due to her negative relationship press. First runner-up, Marsha Yuen Chi Wai rarely receives press coverage nowadays.

Although Myolie's career was not a "rocket launch," but it has definitely been on the "express train." Actually when Myolie first started acting, she suffered hang-ups in her career until "Golden Faith."

"'Golden Faith' was my turning point, making me realize that my hard efforts were not wasted! I am considered lucky, but I did have certain hang-ups. The first 2-3 years, I played only supporting roles, awaiting better opportunities. At one point, one director said to me, 'If you don't start out as a leading actress, then you have no future opportunity!' After hearing his words, I was unhappy and struggled as to whether the entertainment industry was suitable for me. But I do thank him, as his words motivated me."

"Although my results are not bad, but in the past few years I dedicated 99% of my time to work. I hope to achieve more of a balance now. Over-working can impede [acting] progress, so I hope to enjoy [a little more in life], spend time with my family, go on vacation, relax, and meet more new friends."

Selecting a Boyfriend

Since gaining weight, Myolie's cute chubby image has been very well-received, breaking the stereotype that "fat" means "ugly." Myolie demonstrated that fat can be cute as well.

"Many people complimented that I look cute after gaining weight. Now I don't have to worry about looking ugly after getting pregnant. I feel that being overly thin is not good. Even if my boyfriend were to be a little overweight, that's fine. But the most important characteristic is that he has a sense of humor and can always tell jokes! I am not a very talkative person and can be quite emotional, so I hope he will be able to balance things out."

Myolie's criteria in selecting a boyfriend seems to match rumored boyfriend Bosco Wong Chung Chat. They had rumors for the last year, with recent tabloid reports claiming that Myolie and Bosco are now living together.

At the mention of Bosco's name, Myolie immediately said, "I will not respond to rumors regarding aforementioned person. If I meet the right person now, I will consider it, but I will not publicly reveal the relationship. When I first entered the entertainment industry, I was young and naive, so I revealed my relationship in the past. Even if my [future] boyfriend is not in the entertainment industry, I will not speak about it because I do not want the focus to remain on my personal love matters."

Epilogue

On the day of the interview, Myolie looked significantly slimmer. She has already finished filming "Lush Fields Happy Times" and has started dieting. No wonder when the waiter asked her whether she would like to order, she politely refused. Her target is to lose the excess weight within a month. But the normally slim Myolie is confident about her weight loss and revealed that she has a full-length mirror at home, so she can keep track of her dieting progress.

Myolie Wu was filming FTHS earlier for TVB; she went from 110lbs to a chubby 150lbs. In the same series, Jack Wu also had to gain weight. He even gained up to 170lbs. Because at the end of the series both of them must appear slim, therefore they have been working hard to lose weight. In one month, Myolie has already lost 20lbs. She revealed that in a short 15 minutes she spent a five figure sum to buy new clothes to reward herself. Jack, laughed that he wants to eat a variety steak meal.

Myolie and Jack were requested to attend a fashion boutique opening yesterday. During March or this year, the two had to gain weight for FTHS. They bodies immediately became very plump. Earlier, the two need to slim rapidly for the series, and they have successful lost 20 plus pounds in one month. Myolie looked obviously much skinner.

Because she had to gain weight for her series, Myolie revealed that over the past few months she has not added any new waredrobe to her collection. But now that she has successfully lost weight, she went shopping to reward herself. In 15 minutes she spent a five figure sum. She says, “I’ve really been resisting for many months now. During the period that I was fat, I only wore the same 2 to 3 pairs of pants. I didn’t buy any new clothes, but a few days ago I couldn’t hold myself back anymore and went shopping. In 15 minutes I spent a five figure sum, but it was my reward for such hard work.”
Myolie is busy in the process of writing a book and the entire process of from when she had to gain weight to now when she’s lost weight. She’s hoping to get it out at the same time as the series. She says, “I’ve been writing, but earlier I really didn’t have time. I’m hoping to be able to have it written before the series is released.”

Jack indicates that he’s gone from 170lbs down to 145lbs. He reveals that over the past month he has had to follow the nutritionist’s diet menu, use machines to aid and do exercise. He states, “Originally I had to have a cup of milk tea and eat ramen noodles (?), but over the past month I haven’t had a drip or a bit of either. I really want to lose five more pounds. After next week when I film the proposing scene, I’m going to go have a variety steak meal!”

Also, to Chu Ling Ling and Fok Jan Ting’s divorce, Myolie feels that it is most important to be happy. She says, “In today’s society, if you’re happy then you’ll stay together, if not then you’ll split up. You can still be friends. But if I were to get married I would try hard to maintain the relationship.”

I'm not really sure if this will be the actual confirmed ending or not. I read about it from a couple of places. It doesn't really matter to me if she ends up with him in this movie because they still have the other movie together, Tai Gik (sp?). I wished that instead of Toby and Ron, they make it so Ron would be in the complicated love relationship btw Myolie,Ray, Charmaine. That way, even if she doesn't end up with Raymond, she still gets Ron! hahaha

I'm not sure if Myolie will ends up with Raymond in Tai Gik, I've read that Myolie loves Vincent Zhao but Vincent likes Melissa Ng. Raymond do loves Myolie but doubt if Myolie will choose him..

Before the lighting ceremony, Myolie coincidentally saw Bosco in the hallway, reporters demand the two to take pictures together, and both of them immediately stepped away from each other, not willing to do so, reporters then requested again, their manager Tina immediately pushed Bosco towards Myolie, and the two has no choice but to accept. When Bosco's hand touched Myolie's back, Myolie tried to moved away! They have been taken pictures of each other living together, Myolie's act was a little exaggerated wasn't it!

I'm a huge fan of hers but I don't think Myolie should win the best actress award yet (not in 1 or 2 more years anyways). It'd be nice if she did win it but I think others like Ada and Sheren are more deserving of the award. Anywho, I have a big feeling that Charmaine will win since she's the favorite now I guess? i really do admire her courage and strength in giving her best in acting. Her passion could be seen in her eyes while she acts and she is a very much better actress than a lot of the older actresses. Besides, Fei Tin Hei See would be a really good one too!

I just read on TVBspace that the first episode of "Lush Field Happy Times" had a rating of 32 (or was it 33?) points. That's pretty good but I was expecting it to be like 34 or higher especially with the hype around it. I also read that many people were criticizing her acting b/c they said she exagerrated her facial experessions too much and she gave fat people a bad image. Boo. I haven't seen the series yet so I can't comment on that.

Hey everyone... i heard that Myolie Wu was suppose to get the most favorite female actress on the 39th anniverary show.. but in the end Charmaine was the one who took it home... some said that her show grow with love wasnt as good as the hype expected it to be.. and they said that Myolie wasnt that good in that role
