well, i guess i am a little slow to the boat since i just tried ddr for the first time yesterday. does anyone still like this? at first i thought i would be really embarassed playing it, but i ended up having a lot of fun. i also saw some other machines for "para para dance" where you move your arms. i didn't try that yet, but it looked funny. :]
so, does anyone still like ddr and games similar to it?

when i came home i tried to download all the songs.

People who are playing DDR on Arcade Halls are either superb or pretty bad. I wouldn't use one or two euro to dance like that and I know that I will lose on the easiest level. But anyway, I love to see other people dancing. Whether they are super good, then I respect them. But some people are making themselves looking like fools...
I also got a old mat at home

you guys who said you play it at home, what programs do you need to get besides the mat?
i have heard that you can play ddr using playstation. is there any other way? i don't have a playstation and don't want to pay $200 just for this one game. :]
if there is a computer version or something that would be better.

I think there's a DDR program called "dance with intensity" for playing on the computer, you can google that yourself. As for the pad, you would probably have to get some sort of adapter... unless you want to play DDR with your fingers.

I got a dance mat and DDR 4th game for playstation for only $30. That was long time ago but I use to play it a lot. I would say it's a good thing to play and can also do excercise at the same time.

I don't really know about this whole concept of "dance dance revolution" but the trend toward ball room dancing has been gaining popularity with young, middle and even elderly generations. I too am caught within the the craze and am contemplating whether or not to take up some lessons.

DDR is really fun, but I'm a real beginner at it...I usually end up getting D's and F's on the scoreboard each time I finish...the highest I think I ever got was a C (or maybe I got really lucky one time and got a B...lol!) yeah, I don't have that game, so the only time I ever do play it is at my friend's house...so I never get to practice on my footwork...lol...I envy those people who show off at DDR in arcades...grrr...haha..

May 17 2006 10 39 AM
Haha, I still play! It is great fun because it is like the only game where you have to physically exert yourself at the arcades ... apart from the basketball ones, but that's getting a bit off topic

I'm still pretty crap at it though! I usually play on the DDR Extreme mix~ because that seems to have most of the cool songs on it from the other mixes. At the moment I can basically do all 6 feet songs on it, and 7 feet heavy songs ... I can't do 8 feet heavy songs yeT >_< I make too many mistakes.
There is another program called Stepmania - which emulates a DDR machine on the computer - and the official website also has instructions on how to hook up a playstation DDR mat to your PC!
Hehe, glad to see that people still play DDR now and then

Brings back memories It used to be a dare among my friends whenever we passed by it at the arcades. I also owned one at home just for the fun it all. It was a cool way of burning those calories. Lately I wanted to get back to my badminton training and it took me months to find one! I swear it's extinct. It's the best way to exercise I tell you!
lol. i'm pretty bad at this. i would never play in the public. hmm.. they do have one for gamecube. a mario version. lol.

yes, there is a computer version od ddr, it is called step mania, if you download that prgram you can not only play originals (songs u can play on the mat) and you can also play osng that are much harder becoz it's easier playing with fingers. you can get 18 footers!! if you get really good at it and u feel like vs other people around the world then you can also join smo (step mania online) and then you can play step mania online against other people around the world, there is a rank and you may even b able to come first in the world if ur really good but i'm warning u, there are VER VERY good players on the site! if u are interested then here is the link to the site. www.stepmaniaonline.com

A couple of my friends play[ed] the game religiously, to the point where they would remember the steps and not have to look at the screen. They also kicked ass with the controller, too. Haha.
We spent about $1000 on the Cobalt Flux pads. Right now they're just sitting here and rotting away. Since we don't play anymore. Heh.

yeah, it's real fun
i have a pad at home, but it's a soft one. it sucks compared to the hard ones...it moves around a lot & such. i bought it like 6 or 7 years ago in flushing, in some underground mall...paid $50 i think for the mat & game (DDR USA, PSX)
they have a mat that you can just hook up to the tv through the A/V inputs...i wouldn't know where to get it tho.
i'm ok at it. better than your average person, but i suck compared to the frequent players

I started to give DDR a chance again because I totally sucks at stepping at the right time. And it's a lot funnier when u have 2 dance pads where u play with ur friends. And like someone mentioned, it's a good workout game. =D
