i first noticed her in secret garden...and i didn't really like her at first..and i don't think that show does justice to her looks..altho i suppose her role in that show isn't supposed to be one of a pretty girl more liek a weird and imaginative girl so that might explain it

i didnt start really liking her until the recent drama 'love contract' and since then i have been trying to find out more about her!

i think she is a really talented actress and i am looking forward to her new dramas. Her agency also recently announced that she will be releasing an album next year...can't wait!

She's quite good in "love contract". she also hosts some talkshow in taiwan i think and was in the dram "7th grade" last time. I like her version of "gu dan bei ban qu" (the ending theme for love contract) , very nice!

I really like Ariel too! I first noticed her in True Love: 18 Year Old Promise and I thought she was really cute and talented. There's not a lot of info about her in english. There was a good thread about her at tvsf but they keep deleting things and now there's not a lot left. I had no idea she could sing until I recently saw the Love Contract MV for Lonely Northern Hemisphere and I really like it. She sings very well! Does anybody have any info on the new series she's in w/ Joe Cheng?

I've been scrounging the net for info on her new drama with Bryan Zheng, too. I think she's hilarious! Esp that one thing she did in Secret Garden II where she caught the kiss her bf blew her, threw it on the ground and stomped on it But she can also be so touching - esp watching her in Love Contract, it broke my heart when she cried!

IT WAS the desire for a computer that started it all.
When actress Lin Yichen filled in an application form for a beauty contest organised by the Taiwan subway company two years ago, she didn't realise what it would be leading her to.
She had been attracted by the top prize of NT$60,000 ($3,000) in cash and vouchers as she wanted to buy a computer for her younger brother.
Yichen, 22, went on to win the contest - much to her surprise.
She joked: 'I guess I have a face that older people tend to like.
'That's why even though my scores were not very high in the public vote category, I scored very highly in the judges' vote category.'
The outspoken beauty went on to star in a slew of music videos by singers David Tao, Power Station, Jay Chou and Sandy Lam.
But it was her appearance in Vic Chou's Make A Wish that kickstarted her career.
Playing the object of his affections in the music video may have earned her hate mail from fans, but it sure made people sit up and take notice of her.
Several teen dramas later, Yichen got her big break when her role in the movie Kungfu Girls earned her a nomination for Best Actress in this year's Golden Horse Awards. [note: this is false - she was nominated for a movie called "Love Me If You Can"]
She didn't win, but Yichen is now the most sought-after actress for idol dramas.
In Love Contract, she plays feisty Xiao Feng who refuses to allow herself to fall in love because of a secret condition she has.
In real life, Yichen has just as much spunk.
On the furore sparked off by the Make A Wish video, Yichen said: 'I didn't bother reading all the nasty stuff that people said about me, even though the headlines shocked my mother. I refuse to let myself be affected by criticism.'

And despite attracting much attention from boys in her school because of her looks, Yichen's aloofness usually scares them away after a while.
'I'm a practical person. If I'm not interested, I don't see the point in wasting each other's time.
'I'm a frank person by nature, but I won't offend anyone intentionally. And I'm also quite protective of myself in front of strangers.'
She revealed she loved 'keeping rubbish'.
Among the weird things in her collection are her umbilical cord, a 1m-long lock of her own hair, and the fur of her late pet dog.
She also has a habit of collecting packets of McDonald's tomato ketchup.
Her explanation: 'I like ketchup! And the ones at McDonald's just taste better!'

Taiwanese teen-idol Mike He has seven kissing scenes in love drama

HE has been in the business for hardly a year.
But Mike He Junxiang is already an expert when it comes to locking lips with female co-stars onscreen.
The 21-year-old made his showbiz debut in Li Sinje's music video Love Wrongly, where he shared a sizzling kiss with the Malaysia-born actress-singer.
He then went on to smooch singer Landy Wen in her music video Wish Me A Happy Birthday.
And in the idol drama Love Contract, Mike shares no less than seven kisses with his leading lady Lin Yichen.
He plays Yichen's love interest Ken, a reticent guy who is afraid to fall in love.
Tease him about his good fortune, and Mike blushes.
He said: 'It's actually very stressful to do kissing scenes! I don't dare to NG (no-good takes) too many times, because you don't want your co-star to think you are taking advantage.
'And if you NG too much, you will also lose the 'feel' of the kiss, and it will look very stiff on screen.'
He was discovered by talent scouts on the streets of Taipei a year ago and soon gained attention thanks to his good looks.
Mike, who also hosts Entertainment News with Lin Youwei, claims that he hadn't had much experience in kissing, since he had only one relationship before.
He is rather grateful to his 'first woman' Sin-je, who helped him get into the groove.
'She is a Best Actress after all, and she was very cool before our kissing scene. She just told me to treat her like a girlfriend, and she also took the lead in the kiss, so I felt very relaxed.'

But when it came to Yichen, whom he has worked with before on other serials, Mike was more callous than nervous.
Recalling one of the scenes in Love Contract where the pair had to kiss underwater in a marine park, Mike joked that he was more worried about getting enough air than his co-star's safety.
He said cheekily: 'Yichen has better stamina than me. So the moment the director yelled cut, I just broke away from her to resurface and left her underwater. My life is more important!'
The kiss wasn't romantic for both of them either, because 'the water was salty, smelly and full of fish poo!'
And despite their on-screen chemistry, Mike flatly denies any romance.
He said: 'Her looks do fit my ideals, but we are actually not that familiar with each other yet. Anyway, I am not looking for love now.'

the series with joe cheng is called e ju zhi wen (naughty kiss?). its based on the japanese manga itazura na kiss. theres a japanese drama on it too. i dont think it aired in taiwan yet.

yep, lin yi chen is very cute imo. I wish i could see her more on tv, preferably a Happy Sunday all about her or soemthing. I saw her on tv once on this "access hollywood" like show and she was being interviewed and was asked various knowledge questions. She gets 4 choices per question and it was great watching her, she was always giggling which i found to be really cute. Hard to believe she is so young! When i look at her i naturally assume she's 24.

yup shes a korean major or something like that..she takes a lot of courses in it..not sure if you guys noticed but in LC she actually spoke a bit of korean at one point (just one phrase though) ppl thought it was japanese but it was actually korean

Wow! A Taiwanese version of Itazura na Kiss?!!?! I hope they will follow the same storyline as the japanese drama and manga versions! Is this Joe the one in The Rose (with the long girly hairdo)? If it is then that would be awesome, because him and Ariel would make a cute couple...I didn't think that he was cute in The Rose just because he was so feminine looking, but he's actually good looking now that I've seen him in Magic Ring.

On another note, if Ariel was to ever star in a Korean drama. she would look so adorable with Won Bin!

I know! I've been waiting for it for months! Apparently there have been problems in matching her schedule with his so the series was put on hiatus for a while because they both had other projects to do. Hopefully it will be out soon!!!

I adore Ariel Lin YiChen. I saw her in Secret Garden, and was completely enamored by her awesome acting skills and cute looks. Yet, I don't think she's really that 'hot' honestly, her lips are a little too pouty, her eyes a bit too squinty-- I actually thought that in Secret Garden, Lin Wen Jing was the prettiest out of the three main girls.

As for being the most sought-after idol drama actress in Taiwan right now? I find that fairly hard to believe, if she WAS, then I'd probably have seen her in a lot more dramas than just Secret Garden's 1&2 and Love Contract. Then again, is she a full-fledged idol? With the singing contracts AND the dramas? I think all the Jungiery members are more in high-demand right now.

What I like about her is that, she still has her priorities straight, not like the idols that drop everything (school, family, etc) to become famous, that's probably why I haven't seen very much of her.

yes she is acting in an ancient series with hu ge ( legend of sword and fairy). but dunno whether the movies has done or not. Ariel lin is my favourite taiwan actress. i saw one taiwan program which said that even though she is young but her acting skill is better than other experience actress. any way she is pretty and attractive especially when she smiled. oh god she is so cute

I'm so glad I found this topic because I am a GINORMOUS fan of Ariel Lin. I think she is so talented and funny and so real when she's on screen. I have this really high respect for her and I love her hairstyles I can't wait to see her new series. It sounds and looks amazing.

I think she always looks better when she is at events than when she is acting in dramas...i think it is because she is always playing girls who dont place a lot of value on putting makeup on and wearing the nicest clothes...i think she is actually very cute in some of the shots of her in the opening though!

Ariel's acting is so great...she is so good at playing dumb in 'it started with a kiss'..her normal facial expressinos for xian qin are so convincing

she doesn't actually sing..she just sang the ending song for 'love contract' but it was a huge hit in taiwan..even 1 year later now! apparently it is still one of the top most sung karaoke songs!

She's a really good actress, and she showed her skills very well in "Love Contrct", in "It Started With a Kiss" she's really funny. She reminds me of Rainie Yang in that series, but I like Ariel more cause she's an better actress

I think the fact many people are drawn to Ariel is her warmth when she's on screen. Whatever character she plays, it's as if she studies it day and night, every second and hour. She plays her characters until she gets it absolutely perfect. And if you glance at her, she's not pretty at all. If you were to take each part of her, there's nothing amazing but once you piece it all together, you get something absolutely spectacular.

yeah... well put. the more i see her and her acting now...the more i'm drawn to her. she is really good at portraying the certain mood for the scene. i always feel her nervousness, her happiness and all the other emotions she shows~

i don't want to read the manga cause then i feel like comparing that with the series a lot and usually books/ novels/ manga is much better then movie/tv/series. so HOPEFULLY it remains a happy, funny series with no over dramatic scenes~!

hehe i read somewhere that ariel is really serious about her roles...she treats her dramas or shows as 'hw' so for every show she acts in she will do a character analysis (with a tree showing all the relationships) and analyze how her character should be!! shes such a professional...i really love her attitude towards work

i can't wait to see her show with hu ge (anyone know when the confirmed date is? i hear it might he airing on ctv or cts (not sure which one..) ) a lot of people are amazed by her acting...i think its because she takes everything seriously ..

I'm really looking forward to seeing the next episode of It Started With A Kiss. I'm hooked on it and so's my mom. Haha. We think Ariel might probably be the best actress of all Taiwanese idols as of right now. My mom is always reminding me that not only is Ariel a GREAT actress, she's very studious and educated which I think is great.

I cannot wait to see Ariel's first ancient Chinese drama with Hu Ge. AHHHH! The INSANITY!!!!

I agree with you, Ariel is a pretty good actor. I never liked to watch a lot of TW idol series because they were overly dramatic and cheesy. Ariel seems very natural when she's acting. Some actors force emotions out, which just doesn't work, or they try to act cute but they are just annoying.

Does anyone know if she's in university or not? Or if she has been to university or not?

I think shes at her prettiest when she smiles. I dont know why, sometimes I think shes really pretty and then change my mind at times

Is there any news if her book, "Ariel's Blog" will be released in English? *cross my fingers* I also heard some rumours that her management and Mike He's got into argument because of the pics from Love Contract that are featured in the book. Supposedly her management didn't ask for approval from Mike He's for the pics that have Mike in them. I hope it's only between their managers and won't affect their personal relationship. I would love to see they act together again as a couple in a series.
