Well after you've been watching tvb for a while, if you use your brain you'll be able to figure out how most of the series will end or what leads up to it. So lets take a cop series for example, have you by now figured out that the last case HAS to involve the main cast ? Or in a romance series that the couple will ALWAYS have a fight 3/4 of the way thru the series and MOST of the time end up back together.

yup yup, i can usually predict the way the plot develops, sometimes i can even predict the dialogue too

TVB always uses the same scenarios. I always am able to predict some stuff.

Some dumb series kill my fav character at the end, while some others end it the way I want it to be.

But hey, if we liked the idea the first time, I don't mind watching it in a different context a second time.

yea i know it gets annoying after a while. im trying to watch those where its either all business strategy or law series because at least some of their cases are different

I know what you mean. TVB aren't very creative, and stick to linear plots. It's predictable...but it's a formula that works!

That's why War and Beauty was so good b/c it wasn't so easy to predict.

TVB needs more of series like that, something innovated.

Haha....if you watch a lot of movies...i think it's kinda true that series begin predictable and sometimes similar but we always get hooked to it....guess we have nothing better to do...

i watch these shows since i was a little kid.. becomin very predictable .. i can always figure who is the killer ... but the familiarity with these shows are also why i can never stop watching them .... I love all the genres .. but a nice twist would be nice once in awhile..

Well all I can say that 9/10 series nowadays are all predictable, the best cop series were in the 90s where they give you a bunch of suspects who all have a reason to murder the person.

wot u are saying is true. it does get predictable especially romance series.
but the cop series are a little harder to guess, ptherwise there will no fun in watching.
the best was DIF 1, it was so unpredictable and scary at the same time.

I'm not that good in it, but my grandma can predict it quitte good...

tvb uses one idea over and over again until the audience starts to figure it out. for example, tvb starts killing off a main character towards the end of the series, like ten brothers and when rules turn loose n trimming success. now since the audience is gettin sick of it, they go back to happy endings.

Yeah I have been watching these series so long I can pretty much predict endings with ease. Take Forensic Heroes for example. I already knew who the killer was once they showed the first murder of the last case. It was pretty much a given by watching the peoples facial expressions.

yep, I can usually figure out what happens. Storylines usually develops the same way so it's not hard to figure out.

yeah usually i know .. can predict .. even with detective series .. u can easily guess who is the murder..

Ya I can usually predict the way the plot develops but in the good series like Thiumph in the Skies and Golden Faith I can't.

yeah i agree, now the series are pretty easy to predict what is going to happen cuz most series are almost similar.

in most modern series, someone has to become comatose and (possibly) wake up at the last episode!!

I wish they would come up with something different, it seems like becoming comatose is really easy.

o...and I hate it how the good guy hits the bad guy on every shot but the bad guy never hits the good guy and how some injuries cause death but ones that look more serious don't result in death.

haha totally. i cant really predict the whole series, but i can for like most of it. unless the series has a really good plot, is really suspenseful and has a lot of drama in it....you can usually predict at least a few things.
for detective series, only the first case isnt predictable. all the other ones after that are usually a bit obvious, it's practically a fact the the first person suspected isnt the actual murderer.

its so easy to guess the ending...i guess the ones i couldnt guess were war and beauty and burning flame. i guessed that those people wouldnt die. and i heard that in dance of passion people died too right? i didnt really watch it.

The couples are soooo easy to guess, because the ending couples are mostly the ones that are fighting at the start and then start to begin to love eachother as the series goes on... happens to most series!

ah nothings been going on in this thread so I figured I'd add something, so say theres a hostage/ransom case at the beginning of a cop series or something similar and the main character is the victim, how many of you go gee i wonder if the main cast is gonna die right off the bat ?

i can predict most of the plot.. especially if its a romance/comedy.. they are sooo predictable its not funny. hahaha.. sometimes.. ill be surprised when im incorrect so thats cool.. but yeh.. i love watching series to see if my predictions turn out or not..

yes i also agree with you. it is predictable, and nowadays i watch even less series because of the missing old and powerful casts and the story line is so predictable and not as exciting ...

yea.. after so many years of watching tvb series.. (ahaha im actually not that old.. ).... i can now sit there and basically predict some things that are going to happen... feel like the director.. lol...
this is just cause tvb loves to reuse their scenarios and characters.. its getting too typical..

Oh yea, i could predict wat happen be it a crime or romance or others, and most of the time it is correct. And my mum would reply with " U think u r a director?"

yup most of the series u can expect what to come next...in some cop series u also can predict who is the villain easily and also because some of the actors only portray villain!then we know surely wil be this guy already since that actor rarely portray the good guy!

i am pretty sure that most ppl are able to predict a great part of what happens in the tvb series. but this apparently is not a problem, since they still keep watching them. these series simply are not rocket science and they're not supposed to be. it's just simple entertainment which allows you to get your mind of your daily hectic life, so just sit back, relax and let tvb entertain you

I can predict what happens next most of the time, becuase TVB has a certain style in their stories, and when you watch a lot of their series, you just manage to know

Lol, pretty much anyone who's watched a coupl'a TVB series will be able to begin predicting. And usually the predictions will be correct. TVB doesn't really give big surprises or anything, and when they do and the series is well received, that's like... the greatest series of the year. Me and my family always predict the ending when watching the beginning, or the next line the person's gonna say (predicting that is hilarious...). Reactions are easy to predict too.

well u can predict the plot because the directors r sooo typical!! and like nearly all series' endings r happy ones because the viewers like happy endings like the series 'To Catch the Uncatchable', it had a sad ending but just because the viewers didnt like they made a second ending. though that is wat tv is for. I reckon that tvb should make a series that is not typical and like goes the 'other' way so viewers get a surprise wen their predictions dont come tru

i can predict what will happen next. i think its not hard to predict what will happen next because the quality of the series these days are quite bad.

yeah there are many times when i could predict what would happen next in the series but then again when i think about it, it is probably because i've watch so many series that some events are repeated from series to series.

its gets boring makes me lose interest in the plot because most of it is too predictable

lol most tvb series r pretty predictable with some exceptions.. can't help knowing whats going to happen when the "opening video theme song" gives out the future plot >_< they should try to give out less and make tvb series less predictable.. it'd probz b more enjoyable.. not saying its not enjoyable, I love watchin tvb lol but its annoyin when u no whats gonna happen majority of the times XD

After watching many TVB series, I sometimes can figure out what happens next? Like the theme song always gives you a clue, when you watch the opening start of it. Take an example like, you know the main character isnt going to die, or you know whats gonna happen next.

i think most series always build up to stuff really obviously. its not a big surprise. however i do thnik that if you wanna just enjoy the series you have to just let go and not be so cynical.

yeah, think with tvb series they reuse the same story line over and over again. It's fairly predictable. I think with movies its they don't do that, but with series they definitely do.

Pretty much. Although I've recently watched Revolving Doors of Vengeance because people were saying how unpredictable it was. I went into the series with that state in mind and surprisingly it wasn't too predictable.

Yeah, they're pretty predictable now, but hey, it still gets me sucked in to the series, so, whatever works

That goes for many shows on TV these days, especially series with similar themes, after watching similar shows, you'll be able to made a pretty close prediction in many cases.

Haha I think TVB series are pretty predictable but they're still really fun to watch. There are a lot of new actors and most of the time there are a lot of new stories and themes.
