i got kind of bored this weekend so i thought i'd try making these candles~ i can't take credit for the idea, i saw them in a store before, but i did do the design for the ebi nigiri by myself... i'm not sure how it will burn though... i think it's so cute right now, i can't bear to test it out! ^O^;;;;
(oh, yes, so it's supposed to be an ebi nigiri sushi, and an inside-out california roll)

please let me know what you think!!! m(_ _)m
wow, that is really cute!! lol, i wouldn't want to burn them either if i ever made any of that stuff.

thank you for thinking my candles are cute! ^O^
they're really easy to make! (well, the shrimp one took a lot of work because i had to cute out all the white sheets and stack them together and put a hole through for the wick, etc.) but to make the rolls, all you have to to is buy sheets of beeswax in the right colours and roll them up! there's instructions at

That is just about the coolest thing I've ever seen. I've convinced my mom to let me buy beeswax so I can make that. =D Heh. I really like your ebi nigiri. Creative. If it was me, I'd have to make like 3 of each and only burn one just for fun.

thanks, everyone, for liking the sushi candles! i'm in the stages of making copies "to burn". haha. i'm planning to sell sets on the internet, so i really should know how they burn first, right? ^O^;;
and i'm happy to hear this pic has inspired people to try making their own! don't forget to post your pics too!!!

Hey I have a question, I was going to try something LIKE the ebi nigiri, but of course, it's not ebi nigiri, it's like something that lays across the top of the rice as well. HOw did you get that to mold to the wick? I know that you wrap the white beeswax around the wick at the bottom for the rice, but about the piece of shrimp on the top?

i'm not sure if i did it the most efficient way, haha... but here's what i did:
1) roll up the "rice" part (with the wick down the middle)
2) cut out 6 ebi-shapes
3) poke a hole in the middle of the first ebi layer, thread the wick through, and press it down onto the rice
4) repeat for each ebi layer
using a hair dryer, i was able to soften the wax enough and make the layers moosh together. but like i said, i'm really not sure how it will burn... haha! i will definitely report back here when i finally suck it up and light one! ^O^;;;
i'm soooo happy to hear that you're trying to make these too! they're so fun~ ^O^;;

karen: Thank you!

;;; i actually saw the rolls candles in stores before and was inspired by those to try on my own. ^^;;;
WoOitsJoeyy: oh thanks!! *

* i'm planning on making some more and selling them from my website (which isn't up yet... haha). but unfortunately i haven't been able to find any orange beeswax in my city to make salmon! it's very sad. ^O^;;; we'll have to investigate further~
Moonlight_Shine: thank you thank you~ the rolls took me only about 10-15 minutes. the shrimpie one took me almost an hour though. ^O^;;; but that's because i was cutting stuff out... and i wound the "rice" part too tightly so i had to keep winding and winding and winding to build it to size. ^O^;;;
babixlilac: thank youuuu~~~ *

* i haven't made more due to lack of free time, but i'm hoping to make some while i'm off for christmas. ^O^
yanzen11: thank you! i'm happy you like them, but i'm not that original~~~ ^O^;;;; i saw the sushi roll-shaped candles in a store and was inspired from that. ^O^;;;
Mels: ^O^;; i stiiiiiiill haven't burned them yet! it's been like a year! ^O^;;;; making beeswax candles are easy! i only wish i could make molded candles. ^O^
dreamless: ^O^ thanks! i'm happy you think they look good enough to eat~
natalie ^^: thank you for thinking my candles are cute! *

* they're really easy to make too! if you can buy beeswax sheets, you can look up instructions on the internet to make the rolls!
snoopysnoop: thank you! if you take this up as a hobby, please post your pics so we can see too!
its_kelli: awww~~ thank you!! that's really flattering! *

EG lover: thank youuuuu~ *

wah.. haha it looks good, but, constructive critisism: (dont hurt me ><")
colour scheme on the one on the right is abit.. odd.. brighten it up alittle bit!
also, if their candles to burn, perhaps alittle bigger.
and lastly, heartshaped candles!

Wow that does look pretty real and it looks really nice too. Actually i have seen a lot of candle things before such as fruits, animals, x-mas stuff, and even like figures. Wow people are sooo talented to make stuff out of wax, it must be hard tho casue it seems like if you screw up on one thing then you have to throw the entire thing out ha ha

Wow, first time i see sushi candels, and they are so nicely made, so detail too. I really like the shrimp one, you even did the texture on it too. They look so real too, like you can really eat them.
Those are so cute that I don't think i will use them but put in in a glass shelve for display.
