Shin Donghee Born September 28, 1985, he better known by his stage name Shindong, is a singer, entertainer, and a member of Korean boy band Super Junior. In the past Shindong has been criticized for his large size, which contradicts many slim Korean idols. Despite his larger appearance, Shindong is known to be one of the four lead dancers and the group's dance choreographer, creating dances for the bandmates whenever they make dance performances. Shindong is also the rapper of the group and co-writes rap lyrics with the rest of his bandmates. He is also Super Junior's main visual gag performer.
Pre-debut years
Shin made his first appearance in July 2002 when he was seen dancing on Goyangsi Youth Dance. However, he didn't join SM Entertainment until 2005 when he won first place on the 9th SM Youth Best Selection Best Comedian, surprising the judges with his trained acting and dancing ability. Under SM Entertainment, Shin was trained in many areas of performing talents, specifically improving his dancing versatility and rapping.

Months later, Shin was put in the large all-male rotational group Super Junior 05, the first generation of Super Junior. Due to Shin's name sounding similar to bandmate Donghae, he decided to use the stage name Shindong, derived from his surname and the first word of his birth name. "Shindong" is translated to "prodigy", proving himself to be of extraordinary alent to the audience despite his lack of an ideal idol appearance.
Shindong debuted with the other eleven members of Super Junior 05 on November 6, 2005, performing the group's first single, "TWINS (Knock Out)." The group released their first studio album a month later and it debuted as #3 on the monthly MIAK K-pop album charts.[1] As the group's second single, "Miracle", came to an end, his talent agency was about to recruit new members for the next Super Junior generation, Super Junior 06, with Shindong still as an undergraduate member of Super Junior. However, plans changed when the company added in a thirteenth member, Kyuhyun, and the company declared that future Super Junior generations were rumors. The group dropped the suffix "05" and became officially Super Junior. The new group hit big after they released their first CD single "U" the following summer in 2006, which became Super Junior's most successful single in the music charts, leading Super Junior to set #1 records in their music career since then.
In early 2007, SM Entertainment placed Shindong in a new six-piece subgroup of Super Junior, Super Junior-T. Different from Super Junior's usual urban music style, the group specializes in singing modernized versions of trot, an old style of Korean pop music. On February 25, 2007, Super Junior-T debuted on Popular Songs with their title song, "Rokuko". Super Junior-T released their first single, "Rokkugo" on February 23, 2007, ultimately selling 45,998 units by the end of the year, ranked as the sixteenth best-selling album of the year and he first best-selling single of the year. Super Junior-T ended subgroup activities in the end of the year and in September, Super Junior as a whole released their second official album, Don't Don, which became the group's best-selling album and Korea's second best-selling album of the year. In the summer of 2008, Shindong made a comeback as a member of Super Junior-Happy, the fourth official Super Junior sub-unit. Their first mini album, Cooking? Cooking! was released on June 5, 2008.
Television and film career
2005–present: Hosting
Since November 2005, Shindong had been a regular MC for M.NET's M!Countdown, along with Super Junior members Leeteuk and Kang-in, who was replaced by Eunhyuk a year later. However, due to concert tour schedules and preparations for a new album, Shindong, Leeteuk, and Eunhyuk decided to leave their MC seats, their last day on March 27, 2008.Shindong is also popularly known as the active MC and DJ of MBC's BoBoBo Ai Joa and KMTV's Green Apple Sound, successfully establishing the image, "DJ Shindong." On March 26, 2008, it was announced that Shindong will soon debut as a radio DJ, hosting an MBC radio show, "Stop the Boring Time" along with Kim Shin Young. Shindong is also very active in variety shows and often gives guest appearances in Star Golden Bell, Dongan Club, etc. Shindong often gives visual gag performances at entertainment programs.
2006–present: Acting
Shindong had appeared in some of Super Junior's acting projects, such as Mystery 6 (2006) and Super Junior Mini Drama (2006).
In early 2008, Shindong officially debuted as an actor, playing a lead role in the mini television series "Single Papa in Love (싱글파파는 열애중)" acting as Oh Chil-gu.
Personal life
On April 19, 2007, Shindong, with fellow members Leeteuk, Eunhyuk, Kyuhyun, and two managers, were involved in a major car accident that had attracted media attention for months. Unlike Leeteuk and Kyuhyun, who were seriously injured and were kept in the hospital for several months, Shindong and Eunhyuk suffered only minor injuries and were discharged from the hospital on April 23, 2007.
In 2008, Shindong was rumored to be dating Lim Irang, a childhood friend, after they were caught coming out of a movie theater together. However both parties denied and they insisted that they remain in a very close brother-sister relationship.

I'll come support Shin Dong. I think he brings so much more laughter and smiles to the group. What I don't understand is how come he doesn't get to sing much...plus I always see him in the back of their performances? I want to see more from this fellow in their new album.

i was amazed when i found out Shindong is the choregrapher in Suju. i really like their choregraphies. and Shindong is a really fun and outgoing person.

That is mean. True fans do not say those things about SUJU members. If you say one thing about a member...it's like saying it to all of them. I personally like Shindong. He has just as much talent as any other SUJU member. I think he would be such a wonderful person to get along with. We need to get passed this look thing. It's not always everything. And Shindong is not fat or gay. Makes me mad sometimes. Shindong ROCKS! (no matter what others might say)

Has anybody seen on Youtube, where Shin Dong eats Kim Hee Chul!!!! really funny!!! Kim Hee Chul is on an radio interview and there you'll see Shin Dong get right into the camera and eat Hee Chul... heres the cute part, he then chews him up and i don't know why but i think thats so hilarious!!!!! I watch it over and over!

Shin Dong is great. I don't think he receives enough recognition though. Some people can be really harsh about him, and it is really undeserved. He is really talented and needs to get the credit he deserves. I only recently learned that he choreographs a lot of SUJU's dances. That's is awesome! Keep fighting Shin Dong!

Wow...I did not know that....a lot of the dance moves SUJU does are awesome...do you know which dances Shindong has choreographed? I would love to know.
Kinda off topic but I'm going to say anyways....Does anyone think Shindong looks like Tae Woo from GOD? I have always thought they looked alike. Except the hair color of course.

I so have to agree... I think that there is a lot of talent in him that goes unseen. Hopefully he'll be seen for his talents... By the way...with everyone talking about him rapping and all... Can he sing or can he only rap? Come to think about it...I haven't heard him sing sing before...

i dunno why i like the old shindong than the new shindong (the one with new teeth)...i think his old dentition adds to his charm...now...i dunno...i guess i have to see him more to get used to it
and i know that his fellow sujus love him to bits...heechul has such high respects for shindong...and i heard heechul say that he wants his fans to love shindong too...heechul so sweet!
