What's up with Chinese shows starring the same people over and over? It's getting to the point that I'm just freaking tired of seeing em.

You'll think it's okay if the actor being overused is the one that you like.

and you wont like it if you hate the actor that is being overused.

So basically, you wont mind watching someone you like over and over,

but if its someone you dont like, youre gonna complain about it.

There was a time that TVB was promoting Michelle Yeh, Charmaine Sheh, Raymond Lam and Sonija Kwok so much that it drove me crazy because i obviously dont like them. Made those series unenjoyable.

Agree with u but TVB has not a lot of good actors so it's always Charmaine Sheh, Kenix Kwok, Myolie, Gigi Lai, Joe Ma, Roger Kwok, Ron Ng, .....and now I see Raymond Lam everywhere.

OMG...BOSCO....he was like everywhere!!! ERgh...sometimes I can't think of a series that he's not in...hmm...apart from him...ron, ray, and...idk...charmaine is in a lot of series. Leila too but they're not to the point of annoying..

Charmaine Sheh is everywhere now. She is getting old when you see her all the time on shows.

well now i'm startign to see Linda Chung everywhere...and moses and gigi lai...

i like moses and gigi but when they are in too many films they get annoying.

i dont care who comes up more. maybe they're famous at that time and they can make the series more well-known.

Gigi Lai for sure. I wanted to watch Dance of Passion but then when I realize that Gigi Lai was in it I didn't even bother downloading it.

Actually the only person I think got in the most series as a main character is Bowie Lam. He is in Always Ready, Dances Of Passion, and much more but I don't remember the name. People I would like to see over and over again is Linda Chung (She is an angel to my eyes), Louis Yuen (I love him in Virtues of Harmony as Liu Gam, so funny), Bernice Liu, and for Hawick Lau (I dislike his character in Virtues of Harmony because the writer and producer made him marry Princess Fiona instead of Linda Chung, I think he should marry Linda in VOH instead of Steven Ma since he a close friends of her and her uncle, plus he look better with her than Steven Ma), but TVB need to put him in more series. Other than VOH I've only seen him in My Family.

Ya...we are always seeing Bosco,Ray Lam,Ron,Myolie...and esp Bowie...
Sigh..not that they are not good...just that sometimes their faces keep appearing in different series,kinda irratating...

I don't mind them, well, maybe Ron just a teensy bit, but I think even if they have talent, it would be nice to mix up the cast a bit.

i agree MyDarlingMurder - the actors/actresses that you don't like are the ones you'll tend think are overrused

Example:

i basically hate Linda Chung and i find her overused - she's not exactly new and with a number of series under her belt, i have seen next to no improvement at all. Another Miss Chinese International who belongs on adverts and not on-screen (as in acting). if i see a drama with Linda Chung as one of the leads, i scroll past.

Another example, Ron Ng - okay well i don't hate him, but i do find him annoying and i find that he portrays the same roles over and over again and he's in a lot of dramas.


On the otherhand, I like Bosco Wong and Myolie Wu (before i didn't and i thought she was overrated and overused) and even though they're in a lot of dramas, i don't really comment on their overused-ness.

So all in all, i reckon that overrated-nedd, over-promoted-ness and overused-ness is all subjective. Well that's my opinion anyway and everyone's entitles to opinions in a forum

I think that TVB overuse Bowie Lam, Myoli Wu, Linda Chung and Gigi Lai. You'll see them in almost every serie.

they should use ppls like ada choi, bobby, flora, micheal tao because they can act but they only have like one or 2 series a year...

you see them everywhere in the news and they also film series after series so every few months or so you'll see a new series of them released. you get sick of seeing them too much after a while....

Charmaine, Bosco, and Ron are in way too many series. If they are good actors I don't mind if they are in every single series, but Bosco and Ron in way over their heads.

tvb has been using melissa ng a lot lately...i dont recon its a bad thing but it will turn bad eventually~

Basically TVB has no more artist... sigh.... and their production begins to become less and less entertaining... and also this is kind of retired to see some artists in every series...

I don't like to see Bosco, Raymond and Tavia... oh my god... their acting is only average, but they are just all over the place...

To the point like Bosco... eventually, his role will get more and more annoying because he just don't change... and also, basically he will not able to improve himself because he didn't have a chance to rest and take a look at the world

It's just HK's Style. When they get all crazy about one celeb, they will use he or she to the max and make them release albums like every week(over exaggerated of course), and be in bagillions of tvb series or movies until no body cares about them anymore then they slow down. Just like myolie. But some of the ones that are in all the series as the supporting cast is just always in all the TVB series. TVb Series all have the exact same supporting cast. it is always that actor as the dad and that actor as the mom. That's just how it is.

Oh my gosh! Bosco Wong! I cant see a series that he HASNT been in.
And Raymond lam, but its not as annoying like how many Bosco is in.

I would say Tavia. It's not that I don't like her, there's too many series with her in it. Same with Bosco. Everyone has been paired up with everyone already, they are running out of pairings. Tvb seems to lack actors and actresses maybe?

i would have to say linda chung and myolie. i'm surprised they put a newbie like linda as the lead, i mean she was good in VOH2 but all her series after was just horrible

Hmm. I'm kinda getting tired of Charmaine now. A lot of roles she gets are ones that shows how woman are weak. Why isn't TVB giving her roles that shows women can suppress men?

for some reason the guys dont bother me that much.. its actually the actresses. the only overused actors are mostly veterans, such as adam cheng~ arghh

charmaine...i didnt use to hate her but now is just sooooo boring to see her everywhere... she is being overused for way too long...ron & raymond too!!!
dont find melissa bugging yet cause TVB is just beginning to overuse them... i hope they dont keep on doing tt cause i like both of them now and if they are going to be overused, i think i am going to hate them. totally.
and gigi is slowing down, a lot.... she only has 1 or 2 series out this year... tt is average

erm...i think they have alot of charmaine sheh series rite?but then it stil wont be bored watching her show cos its all great shows n her acting improve each series! then i think gallen lo is also one of the overused actor but their shows all generate alot of viewers...both of them are great overused actor and actress though...but melissa ng is the only overused actress i don't really like to see in series to come

No matter how good they are, prolly unless they play a very very very differnet role each time, it is easy for people to get weary of them. I remember earlier when Myolie and Ron and Moses and Gigi were so heavily promoted that they had like 5 series out one after the other. Regardless whether it is ancient or modern, you will get sick of them after 100 episodes (i am calculating on the fact that each series have at least 20 episodes).

i agreed with 'mydarlingmurder' on the point of liking and disliking someone is affected by one's viewing habit.
still, everyone has tendency to like and like not.
for me, overexposed honor should go to:

1) charmaine sheh. repetitive roles, cries horribly, same painful voice that had you think the world wronged her most... she can be cast as a sly person given the chance, she gives me that 'sluttish' look at times. i'll definitely go for the drama if she's a baddie and i mean real hated character.

2) myolie wu. i dunno about her dramas cause i never watched till the end. she has this only one expression that seemed to have her brows doing the talking. besides, i feel that her 'fat' issue had been overly highlighted on and that puts me off. its not like she will win the academy awards for putting on weight for crying out loud sake! if self-sacrifice is so noble in the entertainment circle, please, someone, give her a noble award then. if not, shut the hell up!

3) Raymond Lam. Yes, i do like this young man. the thing is, why is he in every alternate drama TVB produces? it has become much of an eye disease and worse still, they have to cast no chemistry woman alongside him. kill me!

4) ron ng. this guy has practically near to zero talent in his guts. monotonous. totally fatliner whenever he appears on the screen. i'm absolutely petrified whenever his drama comes out. i pray that the artistes cast alongside him are in my watch-out list from the bottom count. other than good looks, he failed everything.

i think i am being harsh but straight-forward in my personal views. no offences to fans alike. i guess i do prefer veterans artistes unlike the new generation really puts me off. other than looks and looks, they own nothing. TVB should really consider sitting them in classes before screening them everywhere.

I also agree that Melissa hasn't been overused, but that may be because I haven't seen her last.. three series? I thought she was heaps mad in HH3 but the series she's been in lately don't seem to be my type.

All the young guys have been overused, like Myolie, Charmaine, Bosco, Ron and Raymond definately.

Tavia has been overused as well, but I don't mind cos I likes her =P I would however like to see more of Leila and Sammul =]

oh man.... TVB definitely overuses a lot of their actors. some of them deserve to have more series but most of them don't. i dont' like charmaine, sonja, joe ma, kenix, gigi, and linda. i know there are a lot more other overused actors/actresses but these are the people i can't stand anymore. ESPECIALLY charmaine and sonja. i REALLY really wish they went to ATV or something.

There is a fine line between active promotion and overuse. Sometimes it is a bit old when the 2 prime time series on tvb both contain almost all the same core actors.
