In this series, Selena plays a Robin Hood-type character.. she has good martial arts skills and uses these skills to rob the rich and help the poor. She meets Raymond and they fall in love.. blah blah..

As for Selena's acting skills.. what can I say? They are not that good.. she was barely tolerable in Just Love and she didn't improve much in LMS.. and as for The Herbalist's Manual..

It'll be interesting to see how Selena handles this role also because she looks so frail! I can't really imagine her having martial arts skills..

hmm, if selina can be in this entertainment, then i'm sure that i can too, if i got the opportunity to be one. she is pretty lucky haha, but acting with ron ng would be more happier

Have not see this series yet, but out of all series i see her, she hasn't really improved much, acting is same. Selina looks really fake at times and can not bring out the realness in her acting. I think if TVB lets her be a female lead (i think since 4 main charaters, and selina is one, unless it tavia), then she must be good or have the chance to improve.

I look forward to see her in this series. With Frankie again (?????, not positive) like in Herbalist manual??? hope they have better chemistry this time.

Blehs. No improvement. It is unbelieveable that she knows Martial arts, she fits for those princessy character, those who needs saving all the time. Fragile type charater. xD.

...im sure they coulda pick a a dozen other actresses than her...not offense to Selena but I personally don't think she's up for the part and the character description doesn't even fit her...sigh...what were the people thinking when they were casting for the actresses? She really made me clenched and fast forward in the herbalist manual series already...and now she's paired with ray welll lets just hope for the best...

lol this is becoming more of a Selena hate thread.... although I haven't got a good first impression of her and totally dislike her in Real Kung Fu, I am willing to wait and see at least 5 episodes before commenting her in this one...just to be fair... but I still think Nancy is better than her and more deserving of this role

Selena needs to go back to training school. Her acting needs some major professional advices, I can't stand how she can't show the right emotions in some scenes, and I really don't like her crying, it does not touch me but just irritates the heck out of me.

Yeah...she needs A LOT of improvement...I think she tries so I give her credit, she just overexaggerates a bit to the point where it gets a bit annoying

hahaha...can we all just wait to acutally see selena in more than 1/2 an ep before we make judgements? i didn't like her characters in all the previous series but she didn't do as badly as some other MHKs in their first series...before we turn this into a hate thread lets haf some more objective observations based on this series first!

Well i like Selena. and i absoulutely have no problem with her. I think her acting is just fine and shes so pretty too ! I really liked her in Herbalist manual and im glad tvb is promoting selena.

To be fair to her, I will take back my words.

As she eases into her role, she looks a lot more comfortable onscreen and she is much better to watch. Granted, her acting is not bad; pretty decent in fact. Though it still strikes me as unnatural at times. But still, she still needs to work on her emotions.

I thought that scene of her rolling her eyes after Raymond made comments was really cute. I am starting to like her.

I think she has improved since the last time I've seen her.. but there's still a big difference between her and her co-stars. I think the fact that her co-stars are much better makes it more obvious that her acting skills are still lacking.. and Raymond's ease in his role makes her actions/expressions seem even more exaggerated.

it's soo hard to imagin her as a martial arts character her looks is too sassy/girly girly to play those type of role...as for her acting well i'll give her some time cuz she's still new...she's a cute looking girl when she's not smiling

I just realized that I enjoy Selena's acting much more with the Mandarin dub..

She was more irritating in the Cantonese version.. her voice is kinda unnatural when she delivers some of her lines..

lol it happens! (when the original artist suck at voice projection! sorry fans) I find voice is very important cos when I was watching (handsome siblings) Alec and Jimmy? well I really hated Alec's character in canto version but when I watched mando version I really liked his characterisation and how he expressed his character. So I find to know whether the actress/actor is good in acting you need to watch the original (in this case I take it the mando dubbed has a really good voice projection)

I think Selena's acting is alright.. as you watch more... her character and acting grows onto you.. and you'd start to appreciate her acting a bit more!! She isnt as bad as some people say.. she juss needs more on screen experiences to improve!!

so far, i watched the episode where selina comes out, i watched both mando and canto, and i agree that its better when its mando for her. somehow, its just weird in canto... so yea... lolx.

Really? I didn't see her in episode 4. I can't really say anything about her since I've never seen her act before. But from all the posts I've been reading, she seems to be a "not-so-good" actress.

I watched ep 5! So far I don't think I can really start commenting her character in FTF but so far she's not annoying (cos she only spoke 2 lines... ) But for some odd reason I think she matches with Frankie. I think she appeared looking the 'smart' type...more so than Tavia. Since Frankie is the quiet smart type they really match so far. In terms of character Fungyi is still cute...Tavia being innocent and hot headed (the rat thing) and Ray being all cheeky...

so see what happens huh?

selina has potention of getting better and better roles. she's not considered to be the worst tvb actress... i think her acting has improved ....can't realy say how much.. but her facial expressions are more realistic than before..

and at least she's getting better and better in each series she played.. like look at that michelle ye.. who basically shouldn't even be a actress..becuase she doens't know or will never know how to act.. i watched all her tvb series..including her newest one chamber of love..and she just sucks.. i hate her expressions.. so wooden..she delivers a monotonous speech.. at least selina isn't like that.

i personalli think michelle doesnt suck at acting, i think she did a great job in eternal happiness. everybodi has their own opinions, u are saying that michelle suck, but i can also say selina suck. as for her acting, selina i meant, i dont think it sucks, but sometimes, she does it weird, and i mean in this series onli.. i think she did a good job in just love, it was realistic enough. and so far, how i see selina in this series, it isnt the best of wat ive seen of her...

It seems Selena's ex-husband is actually her "yun gong".. he saved her life.. so out of gratitude, she takes care of his mother and son.

Well I think Selena is better than Mandy Cho and Kate Tsui at least but I won't say that she's 'good'. I'm not denying she lacks exerience but I'm saying she is not capable of undertaking lead roles as yet. She really needs a huge dose of minor type roles to improve (like in Life Made Simple). Real Kung Fu and Just Love was just horrible. It's not that she's all that bad but she's not enough to be a lead and sustain the audience.

The point as to why she is 'bad' is because there's Nancy here to compare with. How can you deny her excellent performance in TOB and TVB still gives Selena a 'lead' in this series? That again is TVB's problem

I've never seen Selena Li (not even her photo) until Face to Fate, but I thought she's pretty notorous since I've heard so much bad comments about her acting and as well as her look (in different forums). Therefore, I was expecting some ugly chick who would just read her lines with a wooden, expressionless face. Surprisingly, she's not as bad as everyone has claimed. Yeah, she's not as natural or convincing as someone like Sheren Tang or even Tavia, but she's holding her own pretty well. Oh well, I guess as someone has mentioned above, Raymond usually brings out the best of his co-stars. And Selena might be just that...anyhoo, I like seeing different pairing of stars, and Raymond & Selena are quite nice...and fresh...

You know what? I reckon Selena sorta looks like Cherrie?! Kenneth's girlfriend in Love Gauranteed and Scavenger's Paradise...but Cherrie is slightly prettier ..... lol maybe its just me. She was real cute with Kenneth though...won't mind trying her with Ray!

why does everyone hate selena?

i remember when she and Jessica Hsuang was promoting their film, she had to sing a song, and in the background people were "booing" her. I thought that was just my imagination. After reading this forum, i now notice that she isn't popular.

I hope everyone show some courtesy and give actors/actresses support in order for them to shine through. Imagine putting yourself in their position. You wouldn't like it of people "boo" you.

You can't blame Selena. TVB keeps giving her crapy roles. In the other film with Jessica Hsuang, she played a crazy depressive sole mother about to have a baby.

I think it's that role that ruin her image and career.

I think the main reason why people are disatisfied with Selena is because she is being promoted over other more TALENTED actresses..
