they say Love Story In Harvard was inspired mainly by the award winning classic American movie Love Story frm 1970 (starring Ali MacGraw & Ryan O'Neal) which is based on the 1970 best-seller, Love Story, written by Erich Segal. if i'm not wrong Ryan played a Harvard law student who's family is sorta like Hyun Woo's with alot of reputation & well respected. the female died in the end though cause of leaukemia, an ending tht LSIH was supposed to go thru as well, but thkfully the ending leaked & netizens had enough time to protest i remember reading the tagline of Love Story is "love means never having to say you're sorry", read tht the OST is great as well, heard one of the tracks, Love Story, before & i would agree. Love Story is one memorable book/movie for those who had watched it back then

That's funny, syah, that "love means never having to say you're sorry" was used in Hotelier, my other favorite drama. I guess Love Story was a big hit in Korea. Personally, I was so glad that Ali MacGraw died. If we're making comparisons to "Love Story" and LSIH, thank God KTH didn't make Soo-In an over-bearing, irritating person that Ali MacGraw did for her character. Ryan O'Neil could have done better.

I've been watching kdramas trying to find a chemistry that KTH & KRW have. Gosh, it's pretty hard! But I think the writer should get the most credit for creating Soo-In, an intelligent, independent, driven, compassionate woman who was scared of deviating from all that she worked hard for BEFORE she met Hyun-woo. I love how someone so strong could make such devasting mistakes. KTH obviously treated her portrayal of such a special girl with so much care, or else we wouldn't have to make the distinction between actor (KTH) and character (Soo-In).

I'm a female, and was so amazed that the entire story revolved around one character: Soo-In. From the love triangle in Harvard to the OEP and The Hamilton Foundation to the cancer and Hong's testimony at the trial, it's all Soo-in. And I'm thankful. I never thought of myself as a feminist, but even though this a drama, it speaks volumes about the strength of Soo-in, a girl with an enormous amount of responsibility and adversity. I think that's why there are so many females who love this show. We all want to know how do you get what you want out of life? Does love and marriage negate all that you've worked hard for? And when is it a good time to start pursuing that kind of life?

oh i see! wow! that's so cool, really.

LSIH's ending is better though since no one died and all, but it would also be good if otherwise however i can't imagine it! hahaha!

I like the way KTH portrayed the role of Soo In! It seems so REAL, so ALIVE...not overcooked or half-cooked...just right for my taste and cognition...

hoteggroll, oh you like Hotelier? wonder which guy you were rooting for in the drama, hmm Bae Yong Jun? haha, i like Kim Seung Woo in the drama though but not really a fan of Hotelier's. i read abt Ali MacGraw's character in Love Story too, irritating and i'm so glad Korean dramas usually have the heartwarming feeling and Tae Hee made Soo In super loveable since the first episode, she won me over completely. another thing also abt how the fathers came to support their love and attended their wedding. if i'm not wrong, tht wasn't the case for Love Story - the movie. Ryan's father didn't accept Ali and he severed ties with his son. it was only after she died tht Ryan's father accepted her i think.

wonder whether you know this already but one of the writers of LSIH is gonna be the writer of Tae Hee's 2007 drama, Angel.... i hope it'll be another good one

i like it when you pointed out tht LSIH is revolved around the one character Lee Soo In, and it's so fitting too how they ended the drama with her narration to her kids. Not many saw it this way though but tht's how I always saw it. 1 female with 3 guys who will do anything for her (Jung Min, Hyun Woo, father). many females love this drama but many of those i come across love it for the romantic gestures of Hyun Woo i've also come across many males of all ages, teenagers, eligible bachelors, fathers etc who do enjoy the drama very much as well.

it's a drama tht strikes you deep, not just make you feel all kinds of emotions but it leaves a lasting impression, even if i don't watch it for a year, it's still the one i go back to when i'm tired, upset, even if just to look at the pics, videos or a few random episodes, it's my source of comfort.


haha maybe you will be able to imagine it if you are able to get hold of the Love Story In Harvard book, cus in there they kept the original storyline tht they had written, so Soo In died in there. but there's only Korean, Japanese and Chinese versions of the book though.

..and it even left us to consider different views about it.. as if it was made to be analyzed by the human intellect -- whatever point of view is on hand.

haha! no, I meant that these are the questions the writer built the story around, since Soo-In is the main character. From a female point of view, Soo-In's decisions are what steered this drama. As you pointed out, she took a job offer from HW, saved the fat guy's life, "chose" HW, took him to the beach house ...

I like the fact that SI was touchy-feely with HW, since in most of these kdramas, the guy is the one who makes the decisions or takes the initiative. They sure did look great together... a real couple very much in love who couldn't keep their hands off eachother

SI is a pretty cool chick, even though she was wrong to leave HW alone at the beach house without a ride . She slept with HW, because she knew that he would always be her true love and that by doing so would be the only way that she could communicate to him how much she REALLY loved him. In SI's eyes she had only 2 options: HW or OEP.

She couldn't just give up the promise to herself after her mother died that she would be a doctor without giving the OEP a try. Besides, HW still had to finish school. Plus HE said it was ok and that that was the time when they'd least love eachother. So I don't blame her. Plus there'd be no story anyway.

syah, I loved the relationship that KSW and SYA had. That's just brilliant acting! But she totally deserved BYJ, because she wasn't getting anywhere with KSW. KSW was too chicken. He needed someone like SHK to take charge. I'm glad she did, too!

love this series. i have heard about it many times, but always thought the name sounded a bit cheesy and never watched it. man, was i wrong. i am so glad that i gave in and thus having watched another great series.
