EDIT:

Most celebrities get some plastic surgery done - when you're in the magazines and newspapers so often, if you're not perfect, you pretty much get crucified...
If they're not fully comfortable with the way they look, and they have the money, go for it... especially if they're in an industry where their looks get judged so much.
although I'd like to point out that it's slightly unfair to compare photos of a star from 10 years before, with a near recent live picture and a magazine shot... People change naturally, and in photoshoots they get airbrushed like woah. So even if plastic surgery was done, it' snot to the extent people imagine... it's just the comparison of very different photos.
But yes, pretty much all stars get plastic surgery...

It appears that most get surgery to make their eyes bigger--to the point of being alien-like. Just look at Ayumi Hamasaki. I read somewhere she's had 30-40 surgeries in all. She no longer looks human. Another idol whose pic is not shown in that collage is Horikita Maki. I always thought her eyes were too wide and round to be real and sure enough, I found a before/after photo.

Male idols are not exempt:

Hmm... if for some of them, its obvious they have had plastic surgeries (Gackt, Ayumi Hamasaki...), for some others, i have biggo doubts... On those pics, some are 13 years old on the first, and are in their twenties (or more) on the second, so its normal they changed in 10 years or more

Furthermore, make up, light and photoshop do some miracles on pics... So, for example, i'm almost sure Hideaki Takizawa has never had plastic surgery on his nose (like the pics could make us imagine)... and to prove what i'm saying, two pics of him... one when he was around 12-13 and the other from this year, where he is 24 years old... And except 10 years more and a new haircut, there is absolutely no differences...

well i'm not so sure about female idol, so i don't want to comment about it.
as JE's follower, i do not think anyone in JE do plastic surgery. and no, i'm not a bias!
looking through these comparision stills over here amazed me! people who match the 'before' and 'after' are clever. well i do not need to give a credit but it might shake my believe if i'm not into johnny's boys.
what i can see is if you've seen Johnny boys since they were chibis, you wouldn't have doubt they do plastic
surgery or not.

well, this is what i think.. part of it is the true lah... japanese and korean cares mostly about their looks... and it is firstly their looks and then their quailfication that got them their jobs or whatever crap... having plastics surgery is very very common in korea and japan, bacisally, in most developed countries... so, no big deal. you can go for plastics surgery, you can afford, why not?
and having plastics surgery is very cheap in korea. and it's good too, looks natural i mean... my cousin says one. she had her nose done...

I think I need to step in and defend Gackt XD; Everyone's ganging up on him XD;
If he has had surgery, then it wasn't very much.
The photo everyone compares him to, is a high school photo. Since then, he has lost a lot of weight, even if you compare it to his days in Malice Mizer, he's thinner than in school, but rounder than now.
Comparing then and now is a bit unfair, he's lost weight and matured... He's 33, of course he's changed since his teenage years.
Any surgery was minute... Even his eyes, there's not that big, not like some other stars...
So yeah... stop ganging up on him people XD; Stop making out that he's had a face transplant or something XD;

realli its not fair to compare reallly young picture to recent ones.
people grow and people CHANGE as they mature. Seriously i dont think Kame or Jin had any plastic surgery. I no jin didnt anyway because they still have the same facial feature and you can still tell its them. There are no major differences. If you think they had surgery becoz of their eyes then i can tell you that eyes DO get bigger because it happened to me.
Yer and i also agree that people shouldnt really judge idols according to their looks too much. but i do admit that if i know an idol has had surgery my respect for them does drop a little. But it would never happen to Jin because i NO that he hasnt had surgery

in my opinio, i believe its not enough too based it all on pictures because OMG we are in a veyr very hi-tech world where computers can do gazillions of stuff, we now have robots to assist us and stuff!!! right? i mean, what a simple photoshop can do to change one's nose on the pic? or remove blemishes or pimples or wrinkles? correct? and talk about make-up, its just so easy to look as if you got the narrowest nose bridge on tv or pic. although it is true not only in japan but almost all over mother earth, surgery is very popular; nose-lift, sex-change, tooth-implant, hair-implant, face-lift, blah blah blah. but for these artist that you just showed, let me ask this... have you seen them in person? and do they have those big round eyes that is 3/4 the difference of how they look before? or how about the nose? is it half narrower than they usually look like? we should give these guys the benefit of the doubt right? look at them in person first and not only in pictures or television because these stuff can trick us so easy. correct?? on the other hand, i think its also true especially with eyes because i heard and read that japanese really would love to have big and round eyes. hhmmm... if they really did, well, we wouldnt be drooling over these guys if they are not that HOT. and if they did had surgery, thanks to that surgery they became so hot. weheheheheh

people can have eyes like that, but your eyes won't suddenly get longer (sideways) as your grow older. my eyes became rounder as i grew older but it didn't become long.
less korean stars get plastic surgery than people think. it's just koreans tend to be very critical of eachother. there's something called anti-fan and it's someone who hates a particular celebrity. a lot of japanese and chinese stand by their celebrities. like zhang ziyi and even gong li. they had at least their eyes done and many think that they are natural beauties.

Please don't go and make accusations without knowing the truth. Zhang Ziyi never had any plastic surgeries done. If you look at her pictures from elementary school, she already has double eyelids. To me, Zhang Ziyi isn't even all that beautiful, she's incomparable to Fan BingBing, a natural beauty.

We are going off topic! JAPANESE Entertainment, remember? No need to bring up Chinese celebs. If you want to battle it out... I suggest you go to the Gossip Cafe... or somewhere else.
Now, I'm fairly unbiased (being not a huge fan of Japanese Entertainment)... so I just want to point out that there are a LOT of ways one can change his/her appearance without going under the knife. And I'm sure Japanese people are the originator of them all.
From what I can see... some of them have lost weight. Others seem to have 'taped' their eyelids (to give them a double-eyelid effect)... and the important thing to note here is that AFTER you have taped your eyelids for awhile (I think it's like consistently taping them for 6months to one year)... your eyelids will actually start to naturally take on a double-eyelid fold without the taping... I think that's what I see most present in the majority of the males in the pictures that are posted above. There are also those (freaky) contact lenses that make your eyes appear bigger and rounder and shinier by simply making your iris look bigger... It's weird, but trust me, it works (I've photoshopped my eyes before... and yeah, they do look bigger)... But I think the big thing I see is weight-loss and some AWESOME! skin treatments. At least for the males in one of the collages up there... for most of the women, there are subtle changes (especially with the eyes).
Then there's also this (funky) device that I heard that is like a pair of glasses, but the nosepiece actually massages the bridge of your nose to make it "higher." Which is weird, but hey! it could work, right?
*nanshi giggles at the fact that Gackt had a 'face transplant'...!
And no, I don't think Gackt had a face transplant. Instead, I think he had one too many skin-whitening treatments, some excellent contact lenses, and a employs some marvelous hair and makeup skills. His nose is 'rare,' but definitely can be found in Japanese society. And either he has had facelifts (I don't think so), or he has done some major damage to his skin that causes it to look so tight around his mouth, especially when he laughs. Besides, I think he has the resources to find a good plastic surgeon that can make him appear like he hasn't had plastic surgery....

What's with all of the surgery? No one will ever look perfect so is it really neccessary to keep trying? What's wrong with Japanese celebs (and other celebs, in fact) showing their fans that they have some flaws? Even the U.S. doesn't seem so shallow now...
Wider eyes, skin treatments to look paler, nose-jobs...sounds like they're trying to look like...Caucasian (white) people...

Japanese female actress most likely have plastic surgery, beauty is always important I think especially the eyes and the nose. So it doesn't really matter most don't seem to have natural looks anymore.
BUT Tackey, I don't think so,he's gone for surgery. I've seen his J.E timeline photo collection, meaning showing he and tsubasa's pics from age 4 to now, and he's exactly the same! Though I can't be sure about KAME. No offence but he looks flawless at most times.

I think japanese female artists tend to get plastic surgery more than the males...the most popular is to make their eyes bigger, cuz they believe bigger eyes make them cuter...'cute' is the trend for females in japan...surgery jobs are more visible on the faces of japanese females...even though alot of people think that japanese males look really gay (feminine) as signs that they've had plastic surgery, but some males just naturally look that way.
I'm not sure about the guys though...I have heard that some male artists do get plastic surgery (mainly to get double eyelids), but not all of them...I think it's just that in the males case, especially for those 'cool' type of guys whom are into rock, they're more obsessed with makeup and beauty; pampering themselves, getting groovy haircuts, dye their hair with different colors, even getting their nails done!
Overall, I think plastic surgery is more popular among females than with males.

Erm... Nino looks the same as before. Can't say the same for the rest of the JE boys. But you can't judge them like this based on their young photos and their photos right now. People change.

Sometimes the pictures from before are just REALLY bad poses(like the ayumi one for example >__>) and it makes them look like they've had like this HUGE surgery done and stuff. the way the pictures are taken and stuff are really different, angle has a lot to do with it and also when stars have photoshoots, they photoshop it, so it's probably not gonna look the same as they are right now. People who say they saw the celebrities in real life say they look really different from their pictures.
Most of the pictures there are pictures of them when they were teens, and well...puberty does have amazing effects, lol! i know i changed a whole deal from pictures from before,....my mom says my eyes got smaller, but i say they got bigger, i guess it's how we all look at things. we look at things differently from others.
celebrities usually have a whole truck load of make-up on them even though it doesnt look like it. so i guess it's better to compare a picture of them when they dont have make-up on. and some pictures date waaaay back. also, make-up styles have changed in the years and make-up really makes people look a lot different. like in the 1990's or something, your eyebrows would be like...super dark. and the eyebrows now arent...like pitch black, and im sure girls know that eyebrows really do bring out your facial features and stuff.
i guess some jap. stars gets surgeries here and there, and some might even change a lot. but it's not the end of the world, in japan, your facial features are like...#1 priority.
but i DO know for a fact that kuu has had her eyes done cause she even said so. she said she used to glue her eyelids, but then after she just got them fixed.
besides, theres only one way to know if they've had plastic sugery for sure, it's when they tell you.

why am I not surprised that almost all Japanese stars get plastic surgery.
it's so common in Japan. both men and women get surgeries. japan has number one plastic surgery in Asia. and i saw here third in world or something. no biggie and wow what a difference.
Well, at least they are 'beutifying' themselves not otherwise. Outer beauty is important and crucial, expecially for those who want to survive in the entertainment industry. If inner beauty is so important, then stay out of a limelight. And to be able to feel comfortable with how you look like, and especially, to be proud of it, is not a shame at all. most people do strive to be beautiful, well... i guess everyone should.

I bet the ratio of area/population for Koreans getting plastic surgury is hella Higher..., man they are known for that stuff, Japan got over 220 million people. Korea only has like what???maybe less than 30 million....im sure the Radio for Koreans getting plastic surgury is the highest, in that small little area.
Man i knew these guys don't look that natural, well at least the true good looking guys/girls didn't have plastic surgury(the one that i like too), Erika Sawajiri, Tsumabuki Satoshi, these days its easy to spot guys with plastic surgury, on the guys eyelids at least, usually naturally double eye lids got that define bone right on top of the eye lids to cause it to overlap, if someone's eyelid is double and u can hardly see that bone poping out right on top if the eyes, 70 percent of the time is not natural.
