I'm very interested on finding out wat people think of the old tvb series compare to the newer one,
which do u find better? For me, i think the older series are better maybe because I grew up watching them
For some of you i know you grew up in the 90's and didn't have a chance to watch the older series but now u have a chance to watch them.

I think TVB's older dectectiv series are more intresting than these new one and TVB have more younger actor and actress now with great actings..

I think the old TVb was better. The OLD TVB was the best, actors were great and the storylines were awesome. The new TVB plots aren't too good but the new actors and actresses are ok.

The old ones is better because of better cast and storyline. Many god actor/actress has left and the new ones aren't as good.

I prefer the old ones although some of the new ones are interesting. I just wish TVB would use different actors and actresses instead of the same lame ones.

There were a lot of classic series in the 80's and 90's. Perhaps the production value is not as good then (e.g. the set decoration, costumes, etc.) because the budget wasn't there, but in a lot of cases, they were made up by the acting and the writing. There were a lot of talented actors/actresses at TVB that have since moved on to movies, e.g. Chow Yun Fat, Tony Leung, Andy Lau etc. I think I like the new series too, but not a lot that I would call classics.

I perfer the older ones...they seems to have better plot setting and better actresses and actors. Since i grow up in the 90s, some of my favorite actresses are kathy chow hoi mei, maggie sui, nnadia chan.

I like the old series better as actors relied on their acting skills as opposed to relying on their faces these days.

I really prefer the older series because not only did they have better storylines but much better actors and costumes. These days you get a lot of series with silly storylines or crappy endings, plus there's always a lot of remakes of films, is it like they're runnign out of good films to make?

the old series are so much better than nowadays. the old series were more about quality. the themesongs, storyline and acting were so much better.

I prefer older series better.
lately I already stop watching the new series..somehow got no interested in those new series and new actor/actress....

I like the old ones a lot more. I feel like the acting skills of tvb actors are decreasing every year. Also they should stick with acting n not sing.

I like alot of series that were made around 1994-1998, like condor heroes 95, recipe from the heart, dark tales 1 &2, cold blood warm heart, justice pao and alot more that i can't name all...

I agree. The acting is declining. I mean Ron and Raymond are alright, but then you put in the runner up of MR HK (the huge guy - rocky) and the girl who played michelle in Ga Di Fuin Hey in tvb series then really its terrible.

i defenetly prefer the old series because they concentrate more into the story than special effects like today

well... cant realli compare.. some old one was realli gooodd.. like the dicky chenh movies.. i don noe where he gone to.. i love watching his series..

I like tvb old series.the storyline was more original and have better casting and better storyline with actors/actress that have good acting skills...

like the majority, i also like the older tvb series. it just had better actors/actresses, wayyy better plotline. but now since all the good actors/actresses are gone and maybe the talented writers are gone as well? the quality of the story line has gone down since. only one good thing came out of the newer series which was that i saved a lot of money from not renting movies.

i prefer old serie more then now...current serie can't even compare to old serie...most of serie now are dragging and dragging then rush the ending..

Of course the old series is better. Watching the old series again always seems like reminscing my childhood times, it brings back so many fond mamories. Plus, i like the older generation artiste and their pairing better and the storyline is so much interesting. It is high time TVB should think of more creative and interesting plot.

I prefer the old series not only because the artists are better but also the plots, especially the ancient series. They were based on popular novels and history. The only thing that bothers me is the setting. It was too cheap. A house of a millionaire in the old series can not compare to a house of a CID officer in the current ones.

Definitely the older ones. Better storylines and actors/actresses. Haven't watched a new tvb series for so long now except Trimming Success and thats b/c of Nnadia Chan.

like everyone else i also like the older series better...in fact most of the TVB series I've been watching from the past month or so are older series from the 90s - Cold Blood Warm Heart, Greed of Man, Det. Investigation Files series, They Key Man etc. The older series have much more solid acting and the storylines are far more interesting - they're simply classics. This is probably why a lot of the characters from older series are remembered even after all this time as opposed to the characters from the series nowadays that star the same incompetent bunch of so-called actors and actresses over and over again. Back then ATV and TVB were in real competition and good series were churned out.

I wish those days would come back.

But seriously, it's so hard to get those old classic series unless you actually go to China or HK.

I like the series from the early to mid 90s better than the ones post-2000. The older series have better acting and actors who I grew up liking. Rewatching classic series, I noticed that most of the series back then had such better actors and plots. Although a lot of features seem fake, but the acting made up for it.
The newer generation of actors are just horrible in comparison*. The older series have more memorable storylines and more memorable characters that are classics now.
The themesongs for old series are so nostalgic for me.

1+ for old, new series the actors seem really fake these days, in those times i remember watching some karate series with nick tse in it i reckon that was pretty good hahaha

i think alot of young vietnamese viewers who watch the old tvb series will hate it due to the voice dub hahahhahah, but the chemistry and story is better as compared today...

old ones. d ones in the 90s and late 80s were the best. tht was when they didnt try to promote ppl who cant act and when they had better plots and storylines

I think the old tvb series has more serious and better storylines than the new one plus there were more talent people like gallen lo, flora etc an they have left so i think i prefer the old.

I preferred the old ones. cos i remembered wanting to watch every single series back then. Now i hardly watched them cos the storyline's always the same and TVB keep using the same actress/actor all over again. Seeing the actors/actresses repetitively makes me sick. The only series i watched now are those that are criminal investigation-related like Forensic Heroes... seriously, getting boring.

older series are simply just about quality. the series nowadays are too commercial and the acting and plots are not up to par.

you cant beat the old classic filmes...but the only thing is good in these days, are the special affect...hk is improving.

Haha, I'm young and I'm a Vietnamese but I still enjoy the old ones better. Better plots, better actors, better themesongs (this is VERY true), and better kung fu (for ancient series; people did fight in the old series when the new ones tend to have so much computer interference).

The old ones only loses for background set-ups, and for make-ups too.

I also prefer TVB old series.Casting is far more excellent.People like Gallen Lo,Flora Chan,Esther Kwan,Nick Cheung,etc.I'm not saying the newer ones are not good.Just not as good as the older ones.

Those day the story line and acting are much more better than now and even the theme songs also nice to listen.

Back then they have Chow Yun Fatt, Tony Leung, Andy Lau, David Chiang, Felix Wong, Dodo Cheng, Damien Lau, Sek Kin, Bao Fong, Lui Fong, Ah Chan, and the list will still go on...... No matter is kungfu, detective, love stories all were well presented.

hmm, it depends if it is modern or ancient.. if ancient then i prefer the older ones beacuase these new ancient series has too much 3D effects i think..

Like most of the people here, I prefer the older series. Ancient series during the 80s are the best. Far better than new one. Artists, storyline, martial art, costumes, and theme song were so much better back then compare to now. I prefer hand to hand fight over special effect.

One thing that is better now is the dub. I watch the vietnamese dub and I have to agree that some of the dub back then were awful. THe series "THap Tam Thai Bao, THe wild bunch" has very good artists, lot, martial art and everything but with very bad viet dub...... the voices were awful..... I still love the series though, still one of my favorite....

old of course when was the last time you saw a good series in the pass 6 years ?

everyone always says the old one and the reason is because they only remember the good series and forget about the ones that weren't all that great. and everyone remembers both good and bad of the new because they are still fresh in our minds. in another 10 years people will be saying the same thing about this era of tvb, about how there were great shows and that the present doesn't measure up.

it isn't fair to compare like that, different times, different circumstances just enjoy it. i can think of some series now that i thought are better than the certain old ones and vice versa

there were many good old series... but also there are a few very good ones nowadays. it's hard to create new good series. there are too many expectations and not enough new ideas.

I prefer the old tvb series too.
Sometimes I really wish I able to get hold of the old series. They are very well done despite the colour which some are dull. =)
Good to have new comer too but their acting are not as good as the earlier batch.

i like older series more...they have better quality in their casts (actors/actresses who can really act), storyline, directing...tvb was more into quality of their series and the people they promote whereas now it's more of # of series and promote people who are under their management.
