SYNOPSIS
Jianing, Tie Tou and Yucheng have known each other since they were young. They grew up together, and had once made a common wish to be successful in life in the future.
However, the three of them end up walking a different path when they grow up. Good friends become enemies and lovers are torn apart. It is the hand of fate toying with them indeed!
Jianing was born into a small, happy family. However, her father abandons Jianing and her mother to marry a rich woman instead. Thereafter, Jianing’s mother dies from cancer. Her father shows no concern at all regarding this.
During an argument, Jianing injures her father who reports the incident to police and causes her to go to jail. This deepens Jianing’s hatred, which spills over to include her stepsister Shi Tingli.
Tingli is a doctor. She is pretty and kindhearted. However, due to a strict upbringing from her mother, Tingli has developed a secretly rebellious nature.
After she gets to know Yucheng, Jianing and Tie Tou, she experiences a new side of life which she has never felt before. She also begins to fall for the hearty and positive Yucheng.
After Yucheng’s graduation, he joins Huakang Corporation as an employee. Yucheng performs well in the company and gets promoted time and again. The CEO of Huakang, Zheng Tian, reveals to Yucheng one day that he is in fact his biological son. Yucheng is stunned.
He verifies this with his mother, who tells him that she did have a relationship with Zheng Tian and he is indeed Yucheng’s birth father...
Tie Tou’s father earns a living by dishonest means.
He and his father have relied on each other since he was young, depending on illegal gambling to earn their keep. Tie Tou and Jianing are always squabbling with each other yet manage to maintain a true friendship between them. One day, an accident reveals their true feelings for each other. Yucheng, who has secretly been in love with Jianing, also realises that he will never win her affections.
On the other hand, Zheng Tian’s youngest son, Jay is a typical spoilt brat. Jay killed Jianing’s little sister in a moment of folly. Tie Tou is an eyewitness to the incident.
Eventually, Jay is not convicted and released but views Tie Tou as his enemy from then onwards. Jianing offends her father’s wife and comes to harm under her vicious plotting. She almost drowns but is rescued by Tie Tou in the nick of time. The couple decides to move to the country and live a simple life.
However, their peace and happiness is disrupted when Jay is found murdered. Tie Tou is accused of killing Vincent. In fact, the real murderer is Tingli, who has had enough of Jay’s persistent hounding for her attention. So she accidentally killed Jay.
Yucheng pushes the blame on Tie Tou so as to save Tingli.
Tie Tou is sentenced to a jail term.
Thus, Jianing also begins her plan for revenge...

Episode 01
[spoiler]Jia Ning, Tie Tou and Yu Cheng are inseparable best friends. Jia Ning lives alone with her sister, Jia Min, and works as a hardworking fishmonger to make ends meet.
Ting Li’s mother – Marilyn – is bold and aggressive, making everyone around her uneasy, including her own daughter and husband, Dong Qing.
Rich and spoilt Jay returns home from overseas and his father, Hua Kang, teaches him a lesson on humility.
Dong Qing, who also happens to be Jia Ning and Jia Min’s birth father, visits the wet market. As Jia Ning sees DongQing, memories of Dong Qing abandoning her family right before her mother died flashes through her mind.

With Ting Li as an actual witness, Yu Cheng is freed and Jay apologizes. His words get ignored by the rest.
Jay abuses the company funds, and this is discovered by his brothers, Zhi Rong and Zhi Yang. Zhi Yang wants him to take responsibility, while Zhi Rong defends Jay and gives him a second chance.
Jia Ning finds out that Jia Min is still going out with the group of gangsters. Tie Tou confronts the gangster and has a huge fight with him...[/spoiler]

[spoiler]Tie Tou gives Jia Min a piece of his mind and she soon learns the truth about their background. Despite her work, Jia Ning decides to take the SPM examination, with Yu Cheng as a tutor. His mother, Yue Gui, suspects that Yu Cheng is in love with Jia Ning and encourages him.
In Hua Kang Corporation, Zhi Rong commends Jay’s performance and recommends a raise for him. Wanting to celebrate, Jay meets Ting Li and confesses his feelings to her.
Ting Li discovers later that Yu Cheng is upset and brings him to a theme park, teaching him to forget his worries.
With renewed courage, Yu Cheng finally tells Jia Ning that he is and has been in love with her all this while.[/spoiler]

[spoiler]Knowing TingLi is Qing's daughter, JiaNing keeps a distance with her. TieTou asks JiaNing to take it easy. TingLi is curious of JiaNing's change of behavior, and the true nature of the relationship between JiaNing and DongQing. DongQing refuses to tell the truth.
YuCheng sacrifices his examination and gets injured while rushing to buy medicine for TingLi. TomgLi is deeply touched, and starts feeling strongly for YuCheng.TieTou's friends are involved in a fight, DaFei attempts to settle the matter as he does not want TieTou to get into trouble again. As TieTou finds out DaFei is in deep trouble, he rushes to help, leaving the food stall unoccupied.JiaNing and YuCheng visits TieTou’s food stall, only to discover it is on fire. JiaNing rushes in to put out the fire regardlessly, but is suffocated by the heavy smoke and passes out. YuCheng is furious of the incident and blasts at TieTou for burdening JiaNing all the time. [spoiler]TieTou travels to Kelantan to start all over again. TieTou has difficulties looking for a job there. TieTou runs into Xiang, who is willing to take TieTou in and offer him a job. JiaNing is heavily troubled by JiaMin’s issues and TieTou’s leave, YuCheng comforts her. TieTou contacts JiaNing, JiaNing blames him for leaving.
YuCheng feels that he can never replace TieTou’s place in JiaNing’s heart, YuCheng confides in TingLi. TingLi knows YuCheng is investigating TieTou’s whereabouts for JiaNing, feels he is very kind-hearted. Jay apologizes to Li for his unreasonable actions, and hopes they can still be friends. Li is glad.
YuCheng is offered a job in Kang Enterprise, YuCheng accepts. YuCheng tells YueGui the good news, yet YueGui is surprised. YueGui meets with HuaKang, whom she has a past with. HuaKang persuades YueGui to not let their past become a barrier for YuCheng’s future. YueGui agrees to let YuCheng work at Kang Enterprise.
HuaKang formally introduces YuCheng to all the colleagues at the first day of his work. The Fong brothers can sense that HuaKang thinks highly of YuCheng. TingLi joins YuCheng for a meal. YuCheng senses TingLi’s affection for him. YuCheng leaves quickly when JiaNing calls, TingLi feels under-appreciated. The fact is JiaMin is heavily drunk and JiaNing can only ask for YuCheng’s help. JiaMin faintly confesses that she knows DongQing is her birth father, and is sorry for offending JiaNing with heavy words. JiaNing feels mentally exhausted by all this.[/spoiler]

HuaKang finds out and demands ZhiRong to rehire YuCheng.

Monday, 30 0ctober | Episode 11
[spoiler]Tie Tou discovers that Jay kidnapped Jia Min and questions him. The police soon retrieve Jia Min’s body, and the news shocks everyone.
Still in jail. Jia Ning is allowed to attend Jia Min’s funeral. Tie Tou, on the other hand, feels guilty for failing to take good care of Jia Min.Even though Jay is accused of Jia Min’s murder, he couldn’t care less. More complexities follow as his father Hua Kang condemns him, yet hires to best lawyer in town to handle the case. The court finds Jay innocent as the murder incident lacks evidence. With a heavy heart, Yu Cheng tells Jia Ning the news, resulting in her breaking down.[/spoiler]
Tuesday, 31 0ctober | Episode 12
[spoiler]Dong Qing tells Ting Li he has made a deal with Marilyn, hoping for her return home. When Ting Li refuses, Marilyn gets furious. Yu Cheng decides to open his heart to Ting Li and vows not to think of Jia Ning anymore.Guilt-ridden, Tie Tou blames himself for Jia Min’s death. He is advised to pick himself up and move on.
Zhi Rong chairs the meeting for Hua Kang, and takes the chance to bash Yu Cheng’s business proposal. Ting Li meets Jay, who tells her about his unpleasant childhood. She then sympathizes with him and understands that his behaviour is justifiable. Tie Tou finally picks himself up and decides to make more money and support Jia Ning.Released from prison, Jia Ning aspires to continue her once-neglected studies.When Jay finds out that Ting Li has a hidden agenda, he kidnaps her…[/spoiler]
Wednesday, 1 November | Episode 13
[spoiler]Ting Li awakens and finds herself raped. Yu Cheng waits for Ting Li at her home and she breaks down to him – having being taken advantage of by the same person yet again. Yu Cheng wants Ting Li to lodge a police report, but she resists. Feeling helpless, Yu Cheng feels that he is incapable of protecting Ting Li. Ting Li finally decides to lodge a police report.
Zhi Yang tells Rachel the true nature of the relationship between Yu Cheng and Hua Kang. They plan to win Yu Cheng over. Jay is taken to the police station to assist the investigation of Ting Li’s case. Hua Kang becomes furious upon finding out and bashes Jay. Jay blames Hua Kang for the person he has become.
Under Tie Tou’s recommendation, Jia Ning obtains a position at Jiang Tao’s company – Ma Corporation. Later on, both of them visit an elderly lady and attempts to fulfill her wish – in order to persuade the lady to sell her house. On her way home, Ting Li bumps into Jay…[/spoiler]
Thursday, 2 November | Episode 14
[spoiler]Jay starts to harass Ting Li. With renewed courage, Ting Li strikes back at Jay. Jia Ning and Tie Tou successfully find the elderly woman’s long lost lover. Jiang Tao gives Jia Ning high credit and Jia Ning gets approval to transfer to the Investment Department.
Jay molests Rachel as he threatens to exploit her secret love affair. Zhi Yang discovers this and fights with Jay. Again, this deeply upsets Hua Kang. When Jiang Tao intends to dabble with Ma Corporation’s stocks and shares, Jia Ning takes charge of the project. While doing research on the corporation, Jia Ning comes across information stating that Ma Corporation went public illegally 10 years ago.
Jia Ning meets Eric, an auditor who worked for Ma Corporation 10 years ago and threatens him to reveal the truth. Jia Ning attempts to get information from Yu Cheng, but he suspects her of taking revenge on Dong Qing. He persuades her to stop scheming.Yu Cheng reprimands Ting Li for constantly spying on Jay regardless of the immense danger. Ting Li suspects that Yu Cheng has ill feelings about her past, and that he never really let go of Jia Ning.Jay is threatened by a stranger who claims that he is in possession of Jia Min’s cell phone and knows all the truth. Yu Cheng meets Zhi Guang to discuss details in buying his land. Zhi Guang condemns Hua Kang for being the cause of his cousin’s death and is reluctant to strike the deal.
Tie Tou informs Yu Cheng of Ting Li’s recent situation with her family and household. He persuades Yu Cheng to compromise for Ting Li’s sake. [spoiler]Zhi Guang tells Yu Cheng about his own past and Yu Cheng’s father’s death. Zhi Guang, Da Yuan and Hua Kang established a Chinese Medicine business together. Hua Kang – trying to sell counterfeit medicine – had a fight with Da Yuan. During their fight, an oil lamp spilt on the floor and the whole caught fire. Amidst the flames, Hua Kang did not attempt to rescue Da Yuan. Yu Cheng doubts this story.
He begins searching for his late father’s belongings before he died, and found a receipt of medicine purchase. Yu Cheng investigates the medicine stated in the receipt. It turns out that it was really counterfeit medicine.Yu Cheng hears that Zhi Guang had a sudden death, with Fei Biao automatically inheriting everything.
Ting Li questions Yu Cheng if he tempted Zhi Guang with so much money, that even Fei Biao would be so willing to kill his own father for the amount. Hua Kang comforts Yu Cheng and says that he believes he is not behind the incident. Seeing that Hua Kang has great trust in him, Yu Cheng decides to stay in Kang Enterprise, despite earlier thoughts of wanting to leave.Jia Ning bumps into Da Fei. [spoiler]Tie Tou is deeply depressed following his father’s death. Yu Cheng, Jia Ning and Ting Li try to help ease his pain. Tie Tou tells Yu Cheng that he wants to temporarily leave the town to sort things out. Jia Ning looks for Tie Tou’s friend to enquire about Tie Tou’s whereabouts. Yu Cheng comforts Jia Ning that Tie Tou is just leaving temporarily. Jia Ning cries in his arms, leaving him the urge to protect her.
Yu Cheng hopes that Jia Ning would transfer to Kang Enterprise, as he needs someone trustworthy to assist him in the business. Yu Cheng bumps into Ting Li and they catch up. As Yu Cheng sends Ting Li home, she breaks one of her heels. Soon, she receives a parcel containing a new pair of shoes. [spoiler]Jia Ning does not believe that Tie Tou is dead. She is determined to investigate the truth and Yu Cheng agrees to help. She searches for clues at a construction site and finds nothing. The police speculate Tie Tou’s death could be vengeance. Yu Cheng admits that Tie Tou has been emotionally unstable after Da Fei’s death, and that could be the reason he’s dead. Jia Ning still refuses to believe.
Ting Li receives another parcel: a briefcase. While feeling curious about the gift, she receives a call from Yu Cheng to invite her out for dinner. She thanks him for his recent kindness to her. Yu Cheng remains puzzled with this statement.Yu Cheng questions Zhi Rong for his suspicious behaviour. Zhi Rong gains sympathy when he begs Yu Cheng not to make his actions known. Yu Cheng tells Hua Kang that Zhi Rong has been rigging the company’s account.
A deserter tells Jia Ning that he has seen Tie Tou being beaten to death, and shows Jia Ning a cell phone belonging to Tie Tou – something he picked up at the crime scene. Hua Kang and Yu Cheng are kidnapped. Yu Cheng attempts escape…[/spoiler]

[spoiler]The kidnapper attempts to stab Yu Cheng, but is stopped by his boss Hei Zhi. Hei Zhi’s intention is just money, not anyone’s life. Hua Kang tells Yu Cheng not to worry, as he is confident that his sons will pay the ransom. Jia Ning receives a call from Rachel saying Yu Cheng and Hua Kang are both kidnapped. She questions Zhi Yang and Zhi Rong and the brothers are shocked that Jia Ning knows. She seeks Jiang Tao for help.
Zhi Yang suspects Rachel of telling Jia Ning the truth and abuses her. Ting Li is troubled that Yu Cheng has been kidnapped, but when she receives another parcel, she suspects that they were never sent by him.Hei Zhi threatens to take Zhi Rong down as well, if Zhi Rong refuses to pay. Yu Cheng fears that the kidnappers would murder them at the end of the day, hence he attempts another escape.Once again, Yu Cheng confesses his love to Jia Ning. Tie Tou, on the other hand, feels guilty for failing to take good care of Jia Min.Even though Jay is accused of Jia Min’s murder, he couldn’t care less. More complexities follow as his father Hua Kang condemns him, yet hires to best lawyer in town to handle the case. The court finds Jay innocent as the murder incident lacks evidence. [spoiler]Dong Qing tells Ting Li he has made a deal with Marilyn, hoping for her return home. When Ting Li refuses, Marilyn gets furious. Yu Cheng decides to open his heart to Ting Li and vows not to think of Jia Ning anymore.Guilt-ridden, Tie Tou blames himself for Jia Min’s death. He is advised to pick himself up and move on.
Zhi Rong chairs the meeting for Hua Kang, and takes the chance to bash Yu Cheng’s business proposal. Ting Li meets Jay, who tells her about his unpleasant childhood. She then sympathizes with him and understands that his behaviour is justifiable. [spoiler]Ting Li awakens and finds herself raped. Yu Cheng waits for Ting Li at her home and she breaks down to him – having being taken advantage of by the same person yet again. Yu Cheng wants Ting Li to lodge a police report, but she resists. Feeling helpless, Yu Cheng feels that he is incapable of protecting Ting Li. Ting Li finally decides to lodge a police report.
Zhi Yang tells Rachel the true nature of the relationship between Yu Cheng and Hua Kang. They plan to win Yu Cheng over. Jay is taken to the police station to assist the investigation of Ting Li’s case. Hua Kang becomes furious upon finding out and bashes Jay. Jay blames Hua Kang for the person he has become.
Under Tie Tou’s recommendation, Jia Ning obtains a position at Jiang Tao’s company – Ma Corporation. Later on, both of them visit an elderly lady and attempts to fulfill her wish – in order to persuade the lady to sell her house. On her way home, Ting Li bumps into Jay…[/spoiler]

[spoiler]Jay starts to harass Ting Li. With renewed courage, Ting Li strikes back at Jay. Jia Ning and Tie Tou successfully find the elderly woman’s long lost lover. Jiang Tao gives Jia Ning high credit and Jia Ning gets approval to transfer to the Investment Department.
Jay molests Rachel as he threatens to exploit her secret love affair. Zhi Yang discovers this and fights with Jay. Again, this deeply upsets Hua Kang. When Jiang Tao intends to dabble with Ma Corporation’s stocks and shares, Jia Ning takes charge of the project. While doing research on the corporation, Jia Ning comes across information stating that Ma Corporation went public illegally 10 years ago.
Jia Ning meets Eric, an auditor who worked for Ma Corporation 10 years ago and threatens him to reveal the truth. Jia Ning attempts to get information from Yu Cheng, but he suspects her of taking revenge on Dong Qing. He persuades her to stop scheming.Yu Cheng reprimands Ting Li for constantly spying on Jay regardless of the immense danger. Ting Li suspects that Yu Cheng has ill feelings about her past, and that he never really let go of Jia Ning.Jay is threatened by a stranger who claims that he is in possession of Jia Min’s cell phone and knows all the truth. Stella,she had been acting quite a long time.She is Malaysian actress and this drama is her no.8th drama.I had watching her acting before but she did a really good job in this drama compare to before.Good for her!

i started watching the drama quite late... at first i watched it out of boredom but after catching on the plot, i have to say that the show is surprisingly GOOD!
have to say this is the first time i've came across a malaysian production which is comparable that of HK dramas (perhaps even better, considering that HK dramas are getting mundane and predictable)

yup absolutely agree that M'sia production has a great improvement and even better than some of the HK drama which was predictable...

Well there you go ...malaysia Acting has improved... but a long way to go to reach the standard of Singapore artist.
So thank god two artist from Singapore set a good foundation for our fellow Malaysian .
The Beginning is a great start for all good things to come... it had a excellent storyline..great cast ...great theme song.... If all Malaysia production follow this pattern long time ago we will not have to wait so long for a watchable series to be aired on TV.

I've never actually watched this show, but i heard it got huge compliments, especially from my friends, that is... hehe... well, i watched a bit, and Lin Yu Zhong can actually act... I guess i underestimated him... the rest were really good too! But i find Stella Chung's crying scenes really fake.. when she cries, it's just pure water falling from her eyes... she doesnt look sad, nor does her face/nose/eyes are red as well...
i luv this drama!!!! but i missed the last episode....kinda regret...anyway i hope lin yu zhong will act again in other dramas!! he is such a good actor! this is the drama is the best!
I missed this show in Malaysia and now it is showing in the Singapore channel and I have to miss it again because of my working time!
