Tavia needs to die in order for Steven to forget her -- just shows you how deep his love for her was.

At the end it is more likely steven felt sorry for her and she still tagging along so he had to kinda be with her at the end.

Yes. It's implied they will be together. Steven is supposed to be a very chinese traditional guy so he doesn't show his emotion too much. (Except for Tavia-b/c he was head over heel in love)

It surprises me that so many people think that they are together in the end. When I watch it myself, I am quite certain that Steven has not yet accepted Erica in a way more than friends or loyal companion. I guess whether he accepted her later was up to different imaginations. But at the point in the ship, you guys actually think that he accepted her? I personally don't think so. I think at that time, he just appreciated that she is still there for him, but still so yet far from ready to accept her.

The ending of Steven and Erica's relationship left the audience thinking whether or not they would be together. It can be inferred there is a chance for them to develop a relationship. Erica told Steven where he plans to go, and he told her he is going to Japan. Erica said she's also going to Japan.
