Has anybody seen this ATV series before? It's just been released on vcd recently:

http://www.malmusic.com/detail.asp?Product...t=&prev=&lang=E

I find so little info about this one on the web, is it worth spending US$100 on this series?

This is an old series. I don't think anybody should pay more than $100 for a television series. Try looking for it at yesasia or other sites it maybe cheaper. $100 is a little steep.

But have you seen it before? Is it any good? Anybody who could write a little summary of this series?
As far as I've surfed the web, only malmusic has these new ATV vcd sets, and the prices are awfully high, compared to TVB vcd sets.

Try go to www.spcnet.tv for reviews and summary. Hope that helps. Atv stuff are scarce and hard to find.

This is a very old series (at least to me), but I can remember the title in Chinese smile.gif

Hmmm I can't really recall anymore how is it like. I'm scared I will mix up the stories with other series instead.
Well, if I can remember this series in my memory, it's prolly a good series.
But having to pay so much for that...well...I think you can get better series or other stuffs more worth your money. But that's just my comment.

I looked up spcnet for the reviews for you, but they don't have it either.
I'll be on the lookout for you if I happened to find it ya.
Good luck!

If i'm not mistaken the cantonese title of this series was called '97 bein sic long', literal translation '97 changing colour dragon'.

I watched this series awhile ago, you guess it, around 1997, hence '97 changing dragon'. It was a big production from ATV...it had people like eric wan, gilbert lam, joey meng, annie man, stephen au, chapman to etc. in it.

THe series was not bad but a very typical 'ATV series' so don't expect too much. It was based on a real-life family rivalry for power and money during that time in HK. However, I remember the best parts of the series were scenes of joey meng and eric wan. Joey was the spoiled rich girl and eric was the honest-poor guy but they managed to like each other. But I think joey only came out in the 2nd half of the series, b/c in the beginning eric was with his childhood friend annie man, but she ditched him and went with gilbert. Sry for spoiling it for you, i'm just remembering bits here and there and i might even be wrong or talking about a different series all together. LOL.

Anyways, hope this will help you. cool.gif

yes, you're right. annie didn't end up with gilbert

This is a very good series. I love the cast, especially Joey. Worth the money

I think the idea of the beginning of this story actually came from a true story of a celebrity in hk. it something like cut and paste where the beginning of the story reflect the celebrity life. i remember the celebrity also name cheung and when he passed away, there is a family crisis regarding the money issue.

Yah, it is really good. basically this series have all the best actor and actress from atv. i really like the pairing of joey meng and eric wan here. they are really funny here where they acted as a pair of fighting lover.
nie_feng2002
Yeah... this show gets interesting when Joey and Eric interact... i still remember a scene where joey said she wanted to sleep with eric and eric was so shocked... hehe!

Does anyone know what episode joey meng appears?
Azian_Simplicity
OMG.......I wanna watch it so bad.........what's the viet title? I wanna rent it....

Sounds like a series I might want to check out. Price is kind of steep though - and it's in VCD format. I'll see if they still rent this series out. Although I have a hard time finding a local video store renting ATV shows. Mostly TVB series available.

Thanks for letting us know about this series.

Rent a few episodes first if I were u, this serie is not to expectation. Many common actors and actresses, yet the story can be draggy and disappointing

I dont think they were main characters...joey didnt appear until the middle of the series. But ya, they were the best couple to watch, like always.
