I only watched 5 episodes...really know what happen to the ending. What happen to Joey in the end?

I have seen this film, I saw it when it was broadcasted on CNE many years ago. Its a really good film about 4 girls, how they lived their lives etc. Rather sad in some places though =( Made me cry during some chapters. sob sob...

thought it was up for download in the download section last time, but they only posted like 6 episodes or so...Heard it was good. I saw the first couple of episodes and thought it was pretty good too, but didn't have a chance to watch the complete series yet.

This is one of the oldest series i've seen. BUt it was also one of the best series i've seen

can someone tell me what happer to the four girls.....it seem that only one of them got a happy ending....

by the way i heard joey died with her husdband....it is true???how?? and who is her husdband???

If I remember correctly, one of the 4 woman died.

2 out of the 4 girls died. not sure of their english names. if you look in the photo provided by kukuri: -

girl in blue (foong ping) gets married to Donny, goes to vietnam and gets blown up
girl in red (nancy aka lin say) she dies of cancer towards the end

I watched the movie many years ago and it wasn't so great. I didn't really talk about much and the songs that the girls sang were so repetitive.

the girl in the gold dress gets married and has a son too.

her husband was 'dai gai' (big chicken) who fancied the girl in white.

the storyline of the girl in red was soooooo sad, especially that she had cancer and died, and her sister didnt want to show lin say identity that there were sisters because of their background.

but i didnt see the eposides when the girlin blue died, i heard that was sad because they struggled to become a couple and then they died.

this is a excellent series and sad!!!!

The girl in Red is Shang Tian Er. You can see her again in To Get Unstuck in Time as Roger's Mother. The girl in white is Sheren Tang, you can see her now in War and Beauty as Yu-Fei. =) hehe. Seemed like both of them have aged a bit now. That implied this show is old...... hehe

The ending to the show is that
LuLu( the one in gold )
and the one in white (Yu Fei in War and Beaty)
they both actually go on through out the whole show.
Fong Ping (the one in blue) she dies in Vietnam with her husband Donny
Lin Sai (the one in red) she dies of cancer leaving her so call boyfriend John who brought the bar that she used to sing at, a memory of her
the ending ends with Yu Fei wearing a white gown and singing the song I have a date with spring

I remember watching the ending, i dont get it, i swear she leaves hong kong.. but how comes she is singing and dancing with ka ho at the end? or maybe is that a dream? haha... oh well, I suppose it is a happy ending then

I never even seen the entire thing. I was way too young to watch it when it was being played on television.

I really liked this series except the fact that it was sooooo long and the bad ending for Sheren and Kong Wah. Eric Wan (My Date with Vampire) was also in it for a few episodes.

How old is this series?......Sheren Tang is so young in the picture.

THe girl in blue is Joey Meng, she from my date with the vampire. She die in here. Her mother is the second wife, when her dad died, the first wife kick them out. She met her husband, he cheat on her, but she forgive him, there this one cop who like her but she didn't like him. She go to vietnam with her husband because he felt he can expand his carreer there .She got pregnant. They have a boy. Then Kwong Wha( I think that his name) came and to vietnam. Take care of the boy because they die.
Sheren Tang is the best singer out of four, she got famous, she like Kwong Wha, he like her too but he left her and disapper for twenty year. After twenty year, he came back. But they didn't end together because she is mad that he left her and never say anything.
THe girl in red is kiki shueng. SHe from orphan. SHe want to be a english singer. SHe had her up and down. She find her sister. HEr sister don't want reveal the identity. She had a chinese american boyfriend who want to married her but she die of cancer.
The girl in yellow is pretty happy lucky kind of girl, she kind of a dizt. She like eric wan at first but he didn't like her. He was scare of her. THey break up in the end. Then she met her husband. Her husband at first like Sheren but he change when he saw how much sheren like kwong wha.
In the end, there is only two girl. Sheren goes back to america. Joey's son grow up and is living with kwong wha.

After giving birth she was killed in the war. Her son was raised by the male lead character and was taught how to play the Saxophone.

SPOILER:
The ending is the male lead character finally came back to China after many years' absence wanting to rekindle his relationship with the female lead character. However, after so many years, the female lead character decided it's best to remain friends and left China.

I think that's what happened. If I'm wrong please correct me.

great,there's a thread for this series too,it'z an old series way back to 1997,i was very little when watching this series and tv show this series again a few yearz laterz.joey and her bf died and kong wah raised her child,it'z quite sad,kiki's died too,from 4 just left to 2.siew tip came back to hk after sooo many yearz,i fink they ended up together.loved all the songz from this series.

Does somebody know , if she real sing ( is it her real voice of a voice of a pop star ? ) in this serie or does she only move her lips while her character is singing ... because in some scene she sings without background and there it sounds like her voice ! can somebody tell me ?

i think they are singing the songs over and over again is because they are nightclub singers, therefore they dont really hav to sing many songs but just sing the songs that they are good at and familiar with as many ppl dont really go to nightclubs to listen to ppl singing. This is juz wat i felt tho

This is one of the good ATV series. I don't like the ending though. I wish Sheren and Kwong wah can end up together. I mean, what Sheren expected KW to do? Leave that injured girl? I just can't get her point at the end.

this show is old i remember that joey die at the end and i remember that she have like a son in here and i think sheren was like the main character.

This was one of the best ATV series i've seen. Joey Meng's beauty was just captivating in here! I thought maybe she should've been the girl in white (female lead) rather than Sharen Teng. I hated her bf, Donny. He loved her a lot but is it still love when you cause your partner pain just because you wouldn't change your bad habits?? Grrr.. feel so sorry for Feng Ping. If only she met the police officer (the one that fell in love with her the first time he saw her) earlier.. then maybe she would've had a happy ending.

I just saw the title and couldn't help giving my 2 cents becoz this was just a plain like indescribable. Kong Wa playing the saxophone was like yeah......at least I think it was Kong Wa becoz it's been too long since I've seen it but it was such a catchy tune that I just got so many memories back when I saw the title.

Yea, the theme song was really good. The saxaphone tunes made it so 'mellow' and 'romantic'. And the singer, Alice Lau i believe, has one of the best low voices, which sets up the whole mood of the series.

Joey Meng is gorgeous in this here, especially when she's wearing that blue dress and white long gloves.

Uh.....just a thought, is it really actually good for a girl to have a low voice. I mean I've heard that a man's low voice can be seductive but a women's low voice uh....yeah or were you referring to intensity wise. Be neways, totally romantic. It was kind of sad how that original popular male star turned into a total clown. It was like awwww, he had to sell his dignity to keep his crowd. I hope ppl aren't actually that shallow.

obviously not her own voice , it's been dubded , that is the original singer, them four girls are only actresses , they cant sing like that.

it make me think that what society like, to expects girls go through rough time like that...if's so unfair, and i thin dang chui man i dont know her english name , she acted very well in this series and seung tin ngo although she is belong to the previous generation but she always maitained that character of her, again this is another kind of actress that never get anywhere as oscar winner or anything , though she has been acting so many series of tvbs..just wish her all the luck that one day she will win what whe deserve..

this series was not that bad. i saw it several years ago. don't remember much, but it was kinda sad.

I think the Vietnamese title for this movie is "Uooc Mong tinh Xuan" I loved this movie the first time I watched it, but I have never been able to find it.

I would have to say that even though this series is completely old. I cannot forget who excellent it was, the storyline is extremely good... I would really recommend. Its a resembles reality, and the songs may be repetitive, but they are great classicals. If anyone has them, or knows the titles of the songs and who it is sung by then please pm me. but was this based on a movie?

because i saw the movie, and the last thing i remember is that the girl was singing i have a date with spring, and she dances with the guy she likes and then the closing scene is a zoom out and you can see four butterflies each color representing one of the four girls in the movie... i saw this a REALLY long time ago, early-mid 90s..

no it was not based on a movie but it was based on a theater play
the play was very famous in HK, that's why atv hired the screenplayer to write a tv version of it
unfortunately the tv serie didn't have good ratings
kind of sad coz the serie was really good, it deserved better

the film version of MDWS is sad, since they leave the ending to interpretation. at least in the series kong Wah returns. i don't think Sheren Deng ever had a beautiful lead role, since this one. not to mention she went back to TVB in her late mid-30s.

This is a very good and emotional serie

just started watching this. a very good period drama to watch.
