Did anyone watch her host the tvb presentation thing? She seems like she memorized her lines through pronunciation, kinda like what Bernice Liu does. Does Aimee read or speak chinese fluently?

Aimee Chan and Sherry Chen are like Neighbours
The twenty contestants for Miss Chinese International 2007 gathered on a leisure boat for an evening tour of Victoria Harbour after their earlier trip to Ocean Park and Ngongping. Many of the girls sighed at the beauty of Hong Kong's night scenes and took lots of photos. Early hot favourites Number 14 Susana Su (Vancouver) and Number 4 Sherry Chen were asked how they felt at being noticed and Susana says: "Everyone has their good points." However she admits that she is feeling a little pressure with Vancouver's track record of winning the title.

Sherry has been dubbed as the Lin Chiling lookalike and she says that this is her first visit to Hong Kong, but she is disappointed they do not have time to go shopping. Asked which of the other contestants she feels is strong competition, she says her biggest enemy is herself, because to do her best is not easy.

As for the suggestion that she resembles Taiwanese model Lin Chiling, she reveals that she is actually a junior to Lin because they both graduated from the same university and studied economics. However, they were in different classes and have never met each other because Lin was Class of 99 and graduated a whole 8 years before Sherry. A mutual friend has pointed out before that she does have some resemblance to Lin and Sherry says that she does admire Lin.

Hong Kong representative Aimee Chan seemed to get along very well with Sherry, because Aimee has also lived in Toronto before, so they have been talking a lot about the city and act like they are neighbours from the same village. Asked about her confidence for the contest, Aimee says that she is confident and will do her best, but she feels that the experience is the most important and whether she wins or loses is not a problem. She has the support of her friends and family though. Asked if she thought Sherry looks like Lin Chilin, she caused some amusement when she asked in return: "Who is Lin Chiling? I don't know. (Jerry Yan's rumoured girlfriend?) No idea!"

Aimee Chan Not Up to Standard in Performance
The twenty-one Miss Chinese International contestants were at a real estate promotion yesterday in Nanhai, where they also held the 'International Splendour Award' contest. When Number 2 Aimee Chan used a Bruce Lee DVD to introduce Hong Kong, she struck many of Bruce's poses, causing a lot of laughs, but she stuttered a lot and made a lot of mistakes, talking nonsense about Bruce as a comedian before making a quick exit. The award was taken in the end by Foshan local Number 8 Carol Li, who demonstrated the local papercutting art.

Asked if she failed in her act because of the pressure, Aimee said: "No, there is no pressure on me, I think I failed because I did not rehearse enough and I could not concentrate. People were laughing at me when I was posing and this affected me."

Angela Tong attended the event as a judge and when she announced the winner, she misread Foshan as 'forshan' (volcano), making everyone laugh. She later explained that this was because she had written the English phonetic as 'fo shan', so this confused her.

Aimee Chan's Chances Slipping at MCI 2007
The 2007 Miss Chinese International Pageant will be taking place on Saturday in Foshan and the twenty-one contestants met the judges for the first time yesterday. The panel will include TVB artistes Charmaine Sheh, Steven Ma, Sonija Kwok and Roger Kwok. They all say that they will not show any favouritism towards the Hong Kong representative Aimee Chan and will score fairly.

The girls have returned to Hong Kong after their promotional tour of Foshan and Aimee seemed rather tired at the meeting, that may have lost her some points with the judges. She says that she is very robust and she is not nervous and she is becoming more and more excited as the event draws near. The contestants have all been busy rehearsing and trying their costumes, hoping to give a great show and Aimee will also be catching up on some sleep over the next few days. Does she feel she is at an advantage as the Hong Kong representative? She says that although she worked with Roger on location when she took part in Miss Hong Kong, she does not feel that this will benefit her. Melbourne's Jenifer Jiang is the youngest contestant this year at only 18 years old, but she says she has no pressure and is having a lot of fun. She says that everyone else are like big sisters and there is no-one picking on her.
http://the-sun.orisun.com/channels/ent/200.../se13011631.jpg
http://the-sun.orisun.com/channels/ent/200.../se13011632.jpg
This is the first time that Charmaine has been a judge at a beauty pageant and she had a chat with each of the contestants at the press event. She says that she is interested in the level of knowledge that the contestants have on Chinese Culture and she says that to be themselves is already enough because to be natural is the most beautiful. However, Charmaine did not reveal her favourites because this is unfair and she just said that she will judge fairly and seriously and will show no favouritism. Sonija felt the girls had great figures and asked if she felt that Aimee seemed a little lacklustre, she says that a lot of it is down to your own drive and determination. When she took part in MCI, she was unwell, but she still managed to win the award and the hard work paid off. She also says that she will not give extra points to the Hong Kong representative because she has to be fair.
http://the-sun.orisun.com/channels/ent/200...3011630_big.jpg
Steven says frankly that he will be able to watch the pretty girls openly and although he offered his hand to shake with Aimee, he insists that he will not be so generous with his points. He feels that the most important thing about MCI is for the contestants to learn a little more about China and to not even know when the country was formed is unacceptable. He prefers the contestants that look 'traditionally Chinese'. Of course, to look tidy is also important. Roger worked with Aimee in Korea during the Miss Hong Kong pageant, so he has a deeper impression of her, but he will not be biased.

The MC's for the show will be Eric Tsang and Derek Li. Singing star Eric Moo will also be the guest MC. When Derek was introducing the contestants onto the stage, he caused a few laughs when he introduced Number 12 Sarah Song from Sydney as 'number 12 contender'. With jokes that he was no good, he said humbly: "I am the worst, the girls and the judges are the best."

Aimee has Over 100 of her Own Design Products
Miss Hong Kong Aimee Chan was a guest at the opening of the latest branch of the Trade and Development Council's Design Gallery based at Hong Kong Airport and as a former design student herself, she fully supports local designers. She says: "The outfit I have on today is one of my own designs and sometimes for my friends birthday, I will design some special scarfs for them as a present. I think I have over 100 of my own products and I hope to have my own label in the future."

I was totally disappointed when she did not get into top 5 in Miss Chinese International Pageant 2007. Aimee Chan succeeded to become the top 10 finalist. However, the top 5 finalist were disappointing. The actual top 10 results were good. Most of the finalists were excellent quality with the exception of San Francisco and Vancouver. I think there should be replaced by Seattle, Bangkok, or Auckland. I was expecting Sydney, Calgary, Hong Kong, Nanning, and Rotterdam to get into top 5. Hong Kong’s Aimee Chan Yan-Mei and Nanning’s Zhao Ying Ying were gorgeous. The Top 3 Results were Winner – Sydney, 1st Runner Up – Johannesburg and 2nd Runner Up – Toronto. The top 3 were ok. With Hong Kong and Nanning out of the race, Sydney is expected to be the winner. But, it would be better if the 1st runner up goes to Calgary.

I really think Aimee Chan should be the winner of Miss Chinese International Pageant 2007. She is clearly the most beautiful among the contestant. Sydney looks great, but Aimee Chan is really pretty. Look at her smile, her hair and her perfect body. During the Q&A session, you can see Aimee’s great body with that black color swimsuit.

It never fails to amaze me how Hong Kong TVB conducts the Miss Chinese International Pageant. The hosts always ask questions relating to saying in Cantonese. How do you expect Aimee who is born in Toronto to answer such ridiculous questions? They should have the questions in mandarin since it is Miss CHINESE. If Cantonese questions are important, then Aimee should never win Miss Hong Kong Pageant at all. Those questions are not proper Cantonese. They are “Street Cantonese”! High class people like Aimee will not know what they are talking about. Aimee did attempt to answer those questions very well and she smiles like a queen that night.

Poor Aimee, if they take out the rubbish Q&A, Aimee would most likely be the winner.

Kevin and Aimee Rehearse Musical for Pok Oi Show
Aimee Chan, Kevin Cheng, Kenny Bee, Nancy Sit and Kate Tsui were rehearsing yesterday for tonights Pok Oi Charity Show as they will be performing together in a musical song and dance act. As this year's Miss Hong Kong winner, Aimee is usually full of poise and elegance, but this time she will be playing a rather ditzy character, with some very exaggerated actions, such as grabbing hold of Kevin's arm but she is pushed away by him.

Aimee indicates that when she was at school, she has appeared in drama productions, but this is her first time performing on such a scale. She smiles that her character is very crazy, exaggerated and funny and this is a great challenge and opportunity for her to learn a lot of things. The reporters say that her voice is too high pitched and she smiles that she is worried that the audience will not hear her. In order to perfect her performance, she has been practising her expressions in front of the mirror and has asked for help from her friends to help her rehearse.

Asked if this is the first time she has been pushed away so cruelly by a man, Aimee smiles: "Let me think! It should be the first time. (Do you push people away more?) No, I won't."

After winning the "Best Actor" award, Kevin's workload has increased significantly as has his income. Recently, he has been spotted wearing many different designer watches, each one worth several tens of thousands of dollars and he has been pointed out as being extravagant. Kevin responds to this saying: "I have heard about this from my friends, but I have not seen the report."

Kevin indicates that this is just his own interest, like some people like to buy cars or apartments, he just likes to buy watches. He says that he sees it as an investment because some are limited editions, so they will keep their value and may even make a profit over time. He sas that he is buying the watches with money he has made himself and he feels there is no problem with this. Asked how many he has in his collection, he says: "I only have a few, the most expensive is a few tens of thousands of dollars. Everyone has their own interests and there is a lot of background behind collecting watches and I only know a little." Asked if he has made any money from his watches, Kevin laughs that he has not needed to sell his watches and he loves every one of them.

Stephen Wong's 'little brother' under Attack
TVB Pearl will be airing the Hong Kong Rugby Sevens shortly and a promotional event was held yesterday. In one of the events, Stephen Wong (Cheung Hing) was tackled by one of the young rugby players and was hit squarely in the groin area, leaving him wincing and immediately dropping the ball. Asked if 'little Stephen' was okay,he laughed: "It was a little painful, so I immediately let go of the ball. Fortunately it was only a child, so he was not all that strong."

Also at the event, Aimee Chan indicates that she liked to play rugby when she was at school, but now she prefers to do yoga. When she was asked about the story of a woman whose breast implants burst whilst she was doing yoga and whether she was worried about this, Aimee immediately changed the subject and said: "I also like horse riding. (Are you not afraid of 'exploding breasts'?) Why would I be afraid, all sports have an element of risk when you don't warm up. I have also done martial arts before and I got injuries if I did not stretch."

Mongolian Look Aimee Avoids Breast Questions
Miss Hong Kong winners Aimee Chan, Janet Chow and Koni Lui all took part in a TVB promotional event yesterday for their 'Tomorrow's Youth Project' and wearing a traditional Mongolian costume, Aimee was well covered up and after being quizzed about the 'exploding yoga breast implants' earlier, she was very evasive with her answers, just saying that her biggest asset was her smile.

Jack Wu has taken over from Alex Fong to join Charles Szeto as the youth project ambassador and will have the chance to sing the theme song for the event. Jack says that it has been many years since he has entered the recording studio and he is very excited about it, but they will not be joining the party on the Mongolia trip and will just be joining in the fundraising activities in Hong Kong, so they are a little disappointed.

Aimee Chan's Long Legs Steal Show at Miss HK Promotion
A group of Miss Hong Kong participants from over the years gathered in Tsimshatsui earlier to add a final push to the recruitment campaign. Among those present were Aimee Chan, Janet Chow, Koni Lui, Suki Chui, Sharon Luk, Carrie Lam, Shermon Tang, Kate Tsui, Rabee'a Yeung and Fanny Ip.

As the ladies walked down the catwalk, Aimee stole the show with her hot pants revealing her long legs as a crowd gathered to watch her. They they shared their experiences of taking part in the pageant. Although Suki co-hosted a show focusing on correct pronunciations of common words, she mispronounced one of her words during her speech and it was down to MC Miguel Choi to correct her, leaving her a little embarrassed.

Suki explained that she was the first to speak, so she made a mistake. She hopes that the producer will let her continue hosting teh show. Has she nominated any of her model friends to take part in the contest this year? She feels that as a model, then the standards will not be too bad, so they will not be too shy to enter. She feels that after she lost out last year, she was very lucky to have been signed by TVB and this year has helped her develop her stamina and emotional quotient.

Aimee was presented with some flowers from fans and this made her very happy. She indicates that she does usually email her fans. Talking of her stealing teh show, she says that everyone there is beautiful and some of the other ladies were wearing close-fitting outfits to show off their great figures. Sharon on the other hand seems to have put on some weight recently and she says that she will work hard to lose about ten pounds as she does realise that if you are plump in this business, then it puts you at a disadvantage. Carrie is working mainly with advertisers and will appear in front of the camera when she has time. She feels that her current work arrangements are more free.

Aimee Chan Admits to being a Good Kisser
The annual Mr Hong Kong Contest has started the application process and many men have been attracted to apply. TVB held a promotional event yesterday, supported by Mr Hong Kong winner Francois Huynh, former contestants Larry Chan and Rocky Cheng and Miss Hong Kong winners Aimee Chan, Janet Chow and Koni Lui.

Although the weather was not very good yesterday, the men still braved it to perform their talent acts, including magic, singing and kung fu as they encouraged men to apply. Last year's winner Francois had planned to sing an Eason Chan song, but he brought the wrong music and ended up opting for a French song instead, inviting Aimee and Janet to be his backing singers. Francois indicates he has asked many friends to apply, but they are all worried about parading in swimwear. He thinks back to how awkward he felt, but he says he overcame it gradually and so he hopes to share his experiences with the contestants.

Aimee studied in Canada, so she knows how to speak French and she says that when she was at school, she had a French boyfriend. Talking of Frenchmen, she says they are very refined and gracious, like the men in Hong Kong. They are also famous for French kisses, so has she tried this? Aimee laughed innocently and said: "I don't know what one is, why don't you demonstrate? Kissing is all about how deep your feelings are for the other person. A friend of mine uses their tong to tie a cherry stalk into a knot as a way of training for kissing. It took me 30 seconds to do. (So you are an expert?) Haha, I am okay and have been complimented before." Asked if she has invited anyone to take part in Mr Hong Kong, she says that she had planned to ask her dad to take part because he is handsome and mature, but she thinks he will decline.

Shirley Yeung Shows Legs at Miss Hong Kong Sponsor Event
The 16 contestants for this year's Miss Hong Kong Pageant showed off their legs at a sponsor's event yesterday, where they contested the award for "Most Attractive Legs". However, their limelight was stolen somewhat by guest judge Shirley Yeung, who taught the newcomers a lesson or two.

Wearing vests and hotpants, the girls paraded before judges Shirley and Aimee Chan. After earlier outshining the girls in Beijing with her figure during the athletics event, Shirley appeared in her super short pants and once again wowed the audience. Asked if she was intentionally stealing the limelight, Shirley said: "You flatter me! I rarely go to the beach, so I don't wear shorts very much. The outfit was prepared by the organisers, so there is no such issue. (Are you worried about exposing yourself?) No, I have underclothes on."

The beautiful legs award went to the tallest contestant Number 7 Lorretta Chow and she says that her figure is very balanced and this award has raised her confidence. As for winning prize money of $33,000, Lorretta says she will take the girls out for a meal to celebrate.

Aimee passed on some tips to her juniors, saying that the preparations before the show are very important, so they need to keep calm and not drink too much water the night before to avoid being puffy. Soon to hand over the title, Aimee has been preparing for a number of hosting jobs. Asked if she will be promoted by TVB into the next 'super-host', she says: "I don't know yet, I will let the company arrange my work, but I have not signed a contract yet."

She is one of my favourite miss HK champions. I would like to see how she acts. I reckon if Suki Chui has gotten that many acting opportunities without even getting the top three places then Aimee, Janet and Koni should be offered roles too.

Anyway...I just came across her blog a few days ago, for those who are interested here it is:

Yesterday Mariane Chan’s beauty business partner Janae Chan received an Academician title from “香港商業專業評審中心”. Mariane, Ella Kwoon and Aimee Chan attended the ceremony and congratulated her. Mariane expressed that this confirms her school’s establishment since she and her partner received Academician titles. It also proves she was right to leave the TV business to start a business.

Ella expressed that she was to take some cooking courses because her mom could not find a maid yet. Ella is the acting maid right now. The large amount of housework caused her to catch a cold which made her tonsils inflamed. She doesn’t know if she needs surgery yet. Are you worried that your voice would be affected? Ella said: “Actually, I want to raise my acting and singing level. I have studied singing but I haven’t practice for a while. I have been relying on my talents.”

Aimee was asked if she feels that this year’s Miss Hong Kong Pageant would be affected by the smoking and breast enlargement accusations of certain contestants. Aimee said: “Yes because a Miss Hong Kong represents Hong Kong and not only themselves. But there are a lot of tabloid stories before the pageant. The contestants should be confident and raise their EQ level to face them.”

It seems like TVB has been giving Aimee alot of jobs lately. Aside from being in 'Burning Flame 3' and 'Best selling secrets', she is also in 'The academy 3' acting as Michael Tse's girlfriend.
