TOP and Kwon Sang-woo take over “71″
November 6th, 2009 // by javabeans

The movie 71 had first caught my interest for starring young actors Kim Bum and Yoo Seung-ho as student soldiers in wartime, but problems arose when the movie encountered budget issues and the like. The stars dropped out and the production halted for an extended period. Now, the project has changed production companies and been revived with a new title and new stars: TOP and Kwon Sang-woo will be meeting onscreen as the two leads of Into the Gunfire [포화 속으로].

The old title referred to a real incident during the Korean war when North Korean soldiers had invaded and 71 South Korean students had banded together to defend their home (in Pohang, Gyeongsang-do). Kim Bum’s former character had risen to lead the students in the pivotal battle.

With this new casting, Kwon Sang-woo plays a man who enlists in the military after being suspected in a murder and volunteers for the student forces; TOP plays another, more junior student soldier. Actors Cha Seung-won (City Hall) and Kim Seung-woo (IRIS) are in contention for other roles: Cha as a North Korean officer and Kim as a lieutenant leading the 71 young soldiers. Directing is Lee Jae-hwan of A Moment to Remember and writing is Lee Man-hee of A Turtle Runs.

The film will begin shooting at the end of November or early December, and plans for a mid-2010 release.

TVXQ's Jaejoong and Big Bang's T.O.P., who are known to be friends in real life, duke it out with their kiss scenes in their upcoming movies. Since these pretty boys are more known for their idol image, it'll be interesting to see the acting skills of the two.



T.O.P.'s movie, 19 is a story of three 19-year-olds that share a triangle love relationship. T.O.P.'s character and Heo Yi Jae's character are dating in the movie, and they start their relationship with a kiss that will get fan girls go crazy. In Heaven's Postman, Jaejoong is a messenger for people who want to converse with people in heaven. Han Hyo Joo's character approaches Jaejoong's character in order to communicate with her old lover who passed earlier, but instead falls in love with Jaejoong's character.

The two works are being hotly discussed, as they will both be aired on the same date - November 11th. Stay tuned on allkpop for more info!

I just hope Tabi will have photos of him carrying Charlie. Now, he doesn't need to borrow Boss from YoungBae when doing the photoshoot. And hopefully, when they made another drama parody coz lol. I'm done with Virus parody and there was a scene in the parody where Tabi was carrying Boss, guiding the puppy's hands while playing the piano!! I love Tabi in that parody. Especially at the NG clip where he was rolling his eyes.

1) Taewon itself (*Taewon is the company that produced 'Iris')
-Has used TOP to advertise 'Iris' for the past YEAR making it seem like TOP was one of the main characters; TOP was planning to be more of a cameo than the hero of the story like Taewon made it seem like.
-Taewon has made many movies in the past. Of course, there were successful ones such as the 'Family's Glory' series which was criticized saying it lowered the standards for Korea's movies; then eventually as the series went on the movie didn't do too well in the end.
-'Heuksusun' and 'Bichunmu' were highly anticipated before the movie came out because of the famous actors in it and the huge amount of money poured into the movie, but these two movies are famous for totally doing horrible because of the quality of the movies.
+Taewon's attitude to try to do everything by putting the huge celebrities forward- not desirable at all.

2) Movie's content
-The movie is about a student soldier opposing to the North Korean army.
-This movie can hold political issues- could be used as a political tool -> public won't like it
-Celebrity intervening into political issues -> always has brought out bad results
-TOP already has enough antis just because he’s an ‘idol star’. He doesn’t need to gather up more antis from appearing in a movie.

3) TOP's career
-TOP has clearly stated many times in interviews that he wants to do music more than acting.
-TOP has already done two dramas this year: Iris and My Nineteen. More?
-TOP is already playing a charismatic character on 'Iris'-> charismatic character in 'Into the Gunfire again'->not good for acting career

4) Bigbang's activities
-Been more than a year since Bigbang has not been active in Korea.
-Bigbang's successful comeback somewhere next year is vital for the future of Bigbang as a group.
-Movie schedules change constantly->do all the shooting with all the music activities?->health issues

TOP will be starring in new movie “Into the Gunfire”

Cha Seung Won, Kwon Sang Woo, Kim Seung Woo and Big Bang’s TOP will get together for a new movie.

CJ Entertainment recently confirmed that the filming will start on November 25th. The original name of the movie was “71” in which Seungri and Kim Bum were casted, but because of the low-budget issues there was never a date set for filming and conflicts arose. CJ Ent. took over this movie, and it will have a new cast and new movie title, “Into the Gunfire“.

“Into the Gunfire” talks about fierce battles during the Korean war between 71 South Korean student soldiers and North Korean regular army soldiers. The production costs for this movie are expected to be around 12,000,000,000 won ($10,335,027).

Into the Gunfire starring T.O.P. and Kwon Sang Woo to start shooting soon

Last week we shared with you information pertaining to the upcoming movie Into The Gunfire, starring Kwon Sang Woo, Big Bang's T.O.P., Cha Seung Won, and Kim Seung Woo. The distributor of the movie, CJ Entertainment, recently stated that all four actors will start filming for the movie on November 25th.

Originally, the movie was titled 71. Back in February, Big Bang's Seungri along with young actors Yoo SeungHo and Kim Bum were cast in 71. However, due to budget constraints and schedule conflicts the original cast dropped out of the movie leaving many doubts about 71. However, a new production company took over and started over with a new cast and new movie title. The basic premise is about 71 South Korean student soldiers fighting against hundreds of North Koreans during the Korean War.

Into the Gunfire will be produced by Taewon Entertainment, the same company that produced the hit drama IRIS. The production company even recruited two actors from IRIS, both T.O.P. and Kim Seung Woo (north korean agent in IRIS). There's no word on how big the budget will be, but if it's being produced by the same people who made IRIS, I'm sure it's going to be a hit.

Hello!! I agree with you TOP is really hot!!! I know right he can do everything and we will still love him. haha. He is even acting now too. He can really do so many things. I love his deep voice!! I didn’t think it would be that deep though when I first got into them so I was surprised.

YoungWoong Jaejoong Vs. TOP On The Big Screen

TVXQ member, Hero Jaejoong's movie has won Big Bang's member, TOP's movie by an obvious difference.

On the 16th, the total number of tickets sold for each movie through the cinemas show that the movie which had went on-screen from the 11th, <Heaven's Postman> that stars Hero Jaejoong and Han Hyo Joo, is placed 6th with a total number of 34158 viewers. The total number of viewers from the 11th to 15th was 70495.

For TOP, who starred in the movie <19-Nineteen> also went on-screen from the 11th, had a total number of viewers from 13563, giving it the 7th place. The total number of viewers from the 11th to 15th is 26687.

Where Is TOP?

Many netizens are wondering where TOP (Big Bang) is in the KBS 2TV spy drama 'I lately. He hasn't appeared for even a minute from the 9th to the 12th episode, which totals out to 4 episodes. Why?

TOP's last appearance on the drama was in episode 8, in which he chased after Kim Hyun Joon (Lee Byung Hun) and ended up shooting Yuki (Miyama Karen), who was practically Hyun Joon's sister. After that episode, TOP was nowhere to be found.

TOP already proved his acting skills by the drama, 'I Am Sam', in which he only had a minor role, and further affirmed the fact by his role as killer Big in 'I.

Because of TOP's intense and cold eyes and his powerful actions, he is the perfect man for killer Big who constantly chases after Hyun Joon to murder him. I mean, Killer Big is supposed to flaunt his 100% hit rate and cold charisma, and TOP has the perfect look, the perfect voice and the perfect character to be that individual.

Because of his impressive acting and enormous fan base, netizens are complaining that, "His role is too small".

However, the drama is only in its 11th episode, and there will be 20 episodes in total, so fans, don't worry! There is still plenty of time to catch TOP's icy cold charisma on air! And don't forget to visit Big Bang VIP to support the group as well!
