Well, in Korea (and most other Asian countries, but I've seen it strongest and most prevalent in Korea) popular artists (DBSK; Shinwha; HOT; Chae Yon; Hyori; Rain/Bi; Se7en; etc) have fanclubs that are usually given official and elegant-sounding nicknames. Cassiopeia is DBSK's fanclub and the ONLY one that is officially endorsed and supported by SM Entertainment... which is why they're ALWAYS mentioned in DBSK's speeches and stuff. It probably costs a TON of money to join Cassiopeia though. A lot of the girls on this forum have also gone over and joined Asteria; they are hoping that Asteria will become the international counterpart to Cassiopeia (as of right now, Cassiopeia is Korea-exclusive with branches in Japan, Hong Kong, etc). And you're right; it is "Cassiopeia." (named after the constellation of the brightest star in the sky).

As for the issue of 'fan cafes,' I think it's just a fanclub with a website and all that jazz that comes along with having a fanclub. The translation is probably a bit off in that context, but it's just a fanclub-website. South Korea is very 'wired' (in terms of internet), and you'd be surprised at how advanced they are in terms of Internet and the World Wide Web; I think the term 'netizen' originated from there.

Speaking of the FIRST POST...
I've been noticing a lot of redundant questions in here. Pertaining Asteria, Cassiopeia, blah blah this, and blah blah blah that... I was thinking maybe I should make a FAQ. So post the questions that you most commonly see about DBSK (or you're curious about) and I'll get started on compiling a brief FAQ.

SUGGESTION:
since there are still questions about Cassiopeia...why not post up information (brief ones) on the first post on all the fanclubs that are known...just like Japan has Bigeast etc.

TVXQ Short Vacation will be ending soon where they will be heading to Japan the day after tomorrow. They will be having a series of promotional activities in Japan and will only be flying back to Korea on the month of Fenruary for their 2nd Asia 'O' Concert. In other words, it meant that their 20 days vacation had been reduced. Despite that, TVXQ members had spent much time with their friends and family during this short yet beautiful vacation.

That's kinda... short. Weird. Anyways...! MBC-TV Music Camp makes sense (I'm not too sure what the last character is, but the first two mean 'music') because if I'm not mistaken, some Korean television channel does host a program called Music Camp... and it's just like this big gathering where they bring 100 people (or a set amount) to an exclusive/private camp and you get to hang out with celebrities for the duration of the camp (I think it's something like 3-4 days... or maybe a full week. I can't remember)... but yup. So it makes sense...



I don't know HOW many fanclubs there are in Korea (and I'm sure there's an anti-Cassiopeia somewhere because I heard Cass. girls are borderline-INSANE), but yes, Cassiopeia is the only one that SM endorses, which I HATE because it really aggravates me when DBSK *refuses* to acknowledge the rest of their loyal fans abroad, or fans that just can't afford to join Cassiopeia. They only thank Cassiopeia for being their fans and supporting them. I guess it's just to generate brand-loyalty, but it still annoys me to no end. I don't know how much money it costs to join, but I do know that fans generally have to pay a premium to join any kind of 'official' fanclub and that well... SM is so intent on leeching our money (the DBSK products are all REALLY pricey!) that I'm sure they do that too with Cassiopeia.

And JaeJoong is a dork/geek/nerd. Officially. He has StarCraft on his computer. MWHAHAHHA. And does anyone else find it amusing that all their computer backgrounds (well, the ones we've seen) all have their pictures as their wallpaper? I'm like "conceited much? You don't need you picture on your computer. You want to see yourself? Look at a mirror. Sheesh." haha. *JaeJoong carries his laptop with him wherever he goes (gotta love Korean broadband and wi-fi access in almost every corner of Seoul), but he probably still uses his computer for music editing and stuff. Seriously though... Their workspaces are INTENSE. If you've seen the house tour (it's SOO cute...!) it shows that DBSK are serious about being actual artists and not just pop stars. All of them spend time (or try to spend time) composing, practicing, and rehearsing in their workspaces. They each have their own keyboard and microphones (JaeJoong has a guitar he never plays)... Changmin has a 'sexy' guardian... haha. That was funny when they explained it. And JaeJoong has a receiver that won't give him MIDI Out. hahaa... omgosh that was SO funny...! And then you get a look at their bathtub and their bedroom.

I <3 that House Tour so much... it's so funny. And it's all decorated in DBSK stuff... so they're like EVERYWHERE.

sooooo.. I saw the picture of Xiah feeding Micky (okay, it's not and it's wrong... but I saw Micky and I *thought* I saw Xiah..) and it reminded me of something funny I saw on youtube when DBSK was in Bora Bora (it was soo old).

Xiah was being interviewed while walking along the beach and Micky was in the background, but I think he was rushing somewhere because he sped up and passed Xiah... but as they were walking, the interviewer asked Xiah, "What was your more memorable moment on this trip?" And since Micky is passing by, he quickly mumbles, "Kissing with me on the beach." *dun dun as the interview cuts and flips and does the funny editing things that Korean telvision shows are so fond of*... Xiah hesitates, looks as though he's pondering something and then answers quietly, "...Yes." It was truly a "I <3 DBSK" moment... MAN, they remind me of MY guy friends so much...!

Hmmm...I swear Xiah is taller than Jae now (Trust me, I do an awful lot of observing Junsu!). In most of their appearances, Xiah is actually taller than Jae (onstage, bacstage, etc...) So yeh, I believe that Jae is the shortest now, but Junsu still has the smallest body type (short hands and arms <33). He's grow so much, he used to be tiny!

for those that are wondering why the boys always stand in a particular order, it's cuz of their different singing roles...for example, tenor/bass, high/low, etc...the order that they stand now apparently gives off the best acapella sound...this is the interview where I found this info out..the boys explained=):

Agreed. I always had the slightest feeling that the wikipedia profiles were slightly off (especially since Xiah is obviously a touch taller than JaeJoong)... but since I didn't know what else to do... I left it was such. I'll get around to editing it soon enough. Plus, the profiles are quite old, and it's obvious that some of them (especially Changmin) have grown quite a bit.

And about Cassiopeia abroad... the aggravating thing is that Cassiopeia still only caters to KOREAN-speaking fans. Therefore, if you don't speak Korean, there's really no point in being part of Cassiopeia anyways (unless you're part of the Japanese or Hong Kong 'branches' I guess). ew... I may like DBSK a whole lot, but I certainly don't like Cassiopeia. Even the rumors of Cassiopeians get ME scared... I could see why DBSK has so many anti-fans based on Cassiopeia.


Hnn... I suppose that makes sense. Xiah and Changmin are in charge of the 'higher' vocals (tenor, alto, high-baritone)... and Micky and Yunho get the low-baritone and the bass... and since JaeJoong is the lead singer... he gets all the other tricky stuff in the middle (not to mention also the most 'solo' parts). He doesn't harmonize quite as much as the rest. But Micky and Xiah are always checking and leaning towards one another to make sure they're on key/pitch. I never see Changmin or Yunho doing that... which is an interesting observation.

I also think it has to do with professional posing as well (because they're in those same spots in photo shoots and stuff as well). JaeJoong is the best looking with the best body and the best face (c'mon... everyone knows this!) so he can afford to have the full-frontal snapshot of him. The rest are always slightly angled in (Xiah and Micky to their left and Yunho and Changmin to their right) so we get a more 'profile' picture of them which lends to the 'perfect' image of DBSK. I know that most celebrities, as part of their basic training, are taught how to pose in order to show the camera your best angle at all times. I think that the positions they're always in are placed to show their best angle at all times... at least in impromptu photos (during award shows or appearances where you can't spend FOREVER playing around with how you're standing in order to get it just right) or during fancams and stuff like that ...

they just have like..the official right to say "i'm part of DBSK's OFFICIAL fanclub"...they don't get like..special notes or w/e from the DBSK members themselves..right?? cuz that would b SO UNFAIR!

yea, it's unfair that DBSK like..kinda only mentions fans on their fanclub place...but i think SM like..probably requires them 2....or like...forces them 2 or sometin...to promote the fanclub...cuz i think overall...DBSK loves all of their fans
