hehe. I saw that. I was wondering if it was true or not though; I mean, there's a lot involved when you want to produce an MV abroad (shutting down streets, permits, etc)... but still funny to hear the boys describe it. Although everyone *kinda* knows how "cheap" SM is, I don't think they would be so stupid as to allow their members to actually say it aloud and tell the entire world about it. But then again... I wouldn't know. But it was REALLY funny to hear about how Yunho would have to dash into the street "pretending" to look all casual while the entire world was staring at him and traffic was totally coming towards him.

K-Pop Struggles to Boost Sales

Even though popular Korean boy band TVXQ topped the music sales charts in 2006, selling more than 340,000 copies of their third album ``O-Chong.Ban.Hap,’’ the figures represent a sharp decline for offline music sales, forcing many in the industry to rethink their marketing approach.
According to the Music Industry Association of Korea, the last few years have been difficult for sales of the once popular compact disc, while online music sales have surged.
Pop sensations SG Wannabe saw sales of their latest album ``Third Masterpiece,” which sold approximately 310,000 copies this year, fall short of the more than 410,000 of their 2005 release.
South Korea’s top groups, TVXQ, top, SG Wannabe, bottom try various new marketing strategies to boost their CD sales in the face of a general decline.
Other artists are also seeing sales of their CDs plummet. Shinhwa’s ``State of the Art” sold 215,000 copies, while Lee Soo-young’s ``Grace” and Fly to the Sky’s ``Transition” sold 210,000 and 128,000 copies, respectively, far below industry expectations.
The increase in online music sales has forced the music industry to get creative and to try to entice fans to buy CDs instead of downloading the latest hits on music sites such as Melon or Bugs.
A common complaint among music fans is that the price of CDs, which range from 11,000 won to 15,000 won is too high, especially when compared to the cost of downloading songs.
Some record labels have started to listen to the frustrations of their customers and have begun adding bells and whistles to the disc, such as music videos, bonus tracks and even free badges or cell phone charms.
For instance, in September TVXQ released two versions of their new album, one with a photo booklet and another with a DVD. A month later, two more versions were released, one with a movie about the band and another with a collection of their music videos.
To make sure die-hard fans would continue buying all the versions of their album, special events were organized to increase enthusiasm, including meet-and-greets with the band. One event last Dec. 9 required fans to bring all four versions of the album just to be able to get a ticket _ a ticket would allow a fan the opportunity to receive a pre-printed photo card personally handed out by a member of TVXQ.
The overall music industry, however, still continues to see a decline in offline music sales. Digital music sales have been outpacing sales of CDs since 2004.

I found out about DBSK when my friend showed me their Banjun Dramas. I thought those dramas were amazing, and it was so funny! So after watching their banjun dramas, I searched them up and looked them up on Youtube. I watched their MVs and different clips of them. I just fell in love with DBSK because they are so cute!!! So I'm absolutely obsess with them hahahaha.
Speaking of obsession, yesterday, I brought their "Dong Bang Shin Ki - All About Dong Bang Shin Ki DTS" DVD. I get it on Valentine's Day. I'm so excited!!
The first one who caught my eye was U-Know. I was thinking, "WOW, you're so hot!". I love ALL of them, but my favorite is HERO<3.

ACTUALLY, I think they're talking about Digital Music Sales in Korea -- not illegal pirating music. Purchasing music online (like iTunes, Napster, Rhapsody, etc) is becoming increasingly popular while CD (the physical disk and booklet) sales are going down. And you actually LOSE money that way (the corporations, I mean) . In America, a CD genrally (a brand new one and stuff) is about $20 USD. But if I only like a single or one or two songs, I can go to iTunes or whatever and download the song for 1-2$ USD... saving a ton of money in the meantime. I mean, a percentage of the money goes back to the singers/companies... but really, how much? I mean, especially if a song is only .99$ to begin with... And music subscription services? they're even CHEAPER...!

If the sites are LEGAL; shouldn't the artiste get some money out of it too?? Or are these sites not giving the money earned to the rightful singer of the song???? I know a lot of people download on the Net, that's what makes life tough for the singers/artistes EVERYWHERE nowadays, not just in Korea.
I wish I COULD scold the people who download illegally sometimes;
but I'm one of them. I do it sometimes, so I'm guilty...

yea they do get money out of it. but like what nanshi said, its less than what they would have earned if all these ppl actually bought the whole album, instead of buying the individual songs on itunes, napster and whatsoever. cos one song is only like, 99cents. not much profit overall :/

To deepstar : BoA & Kangta came to Sing for MAA ( Kangta 2002 & BoA 2004 ). I'm quite disappointed because maybe there will not have MAA 2007 . In MAA 2006 DBSK wasn't nominated in MAA but at the end of the year they won many awards in Korea & surely they will be nominated this year . But MTV Asia haven't yet said anything about that .

They do get money, but when you're only paying less than dollar for the song... how much profit are they really going to get? Probably just a few cents; maybe less than that once all the payments are given to the necessary parties. It's convenient for people who really just can't afford to get the whole album or -- like me -- unwilling to risk buying the whole album and realizing that they don't like all the songs on there (or something like that)... and then you just end up wasting money. I've always wondered how much money celebrities really have though. I mean being "worth" a certain amount is a lot different than what you have in your pocket to spend.

Aww.. thank you. It matches my signature (the first post should have my signatures). It was a toss up between whether or not it was going to have JaeJoong or Xiah (I like to have matching sets) and while I was playing around with it, the angle of the picture just doesn't show off JaeJoong to the best advantage, but Xiah looked great... so I stuck with him. hehe. I think it's really cute how Xiah's lips are parted like that; like he's just about to kiss you. HAHAA. Maybe that was the wrong thing to say.
And yes, you can post it yourself (so you can get credit and such). Just read the first post and it'll explain it all. No, you don't have to do anything special.
