A music website Jukeon designed a questionnaire "The most desired male artist for Xmas dinner" (Dec 7 - 13). 3912 members participated this voting and World Star RAIN ranked NO.1~~

With 32.3% votes, Rain successfully got the champion, followed by Li Shengji (pinyin, 22%), Jin Xianzhong (pinyin, from SS501, 19.9%), Se7en and Junjin (from Shin Hwa).

On the other hand, Rain is in the middle of world tour preparation, as well as publicity activities for his first movie <I'm Cyborg but that's okay>. Rain (Bi)'s debut movie 'Cyborg, but okay' ranks 1st in box office



During the second week of December, singer Rain (Bi)'s debut movie 'Cyborg, but okay' ranked first in the box office, stepping above 'Mr. Robin Kkoshigi (Seducing Mr. Robin)' featuring Daniel Henney. The ranking was based on the number of ticket sales in Seoul.

The romantic comedy 'Cyborg, but okay' starring Rain as a mental patient gathered 810,000 people to the theatres in two days, leading 'Seducing Mr. Robin' which numbered 780,000 by 3,000. Both movies opened on the 7th and have accumulated numbers of 471,000 and 390,000 respectively still placing 'Cyborg, but okay' at the lead.

This past box office ranking cannot completely disregard the support of the fans of Rain and the name value of director Park Chan Wook, however. 'Cyborg, but okay' at the premiere in fact did not receive a high score for mass popularity. On the other hand, the somewhat odd setup of the movie 'Seducing Mr. Robin' which was expected to gather female fans of Daniel Henney did well but was not able to quite surpass 'Cyborg, but okay' which was an unexpected result.

Third in the box office was 'Haebaragi (Sunflower)' which has been gathering an unexpected crowd to the theatres. 48,000 people watched the movie in Seoul on 50 screens over two days of the weekend. The movie that has been in theatres for three weeks has accumulated numbers of 1,237,000.

'Pan's Labyrinth' ranked in at number four followed by 'Saw III,' 'That Summer,' and 'The Departed.'

'Pan's Labyrinth' which is a fantasy based on the internal wars of Spain gathered 416,000 people to the box office in two weeks. 'Saw III' on 39 screens in Seoul gathered 19,000 to the screen over the weekend followed by 'That Summer' at 11,000 which barely led 'The Departed.'

'That Summer' starring Lee Byeong Heon has accumulated ticket sales of 300,000 up to last week, somewhat lackluster to the star power.

Singer Rain Named Goodwill Envoy for Korean Tourism
December 15, 2006

Korean pop star Rain will serve as goodwill ambassador to promote the country's tourism industry in 2007. The Korea Tourism Organization has appointed Rain to help promote Korean pop culture, tourist spots and restaurants around the world.

The tourism body is also promoting its newly-renovated Korean Wave Pavilion, part of its marketing activities centered around the Korean pop culture craze in Asia.

The organization says it hopes Rain will help Korea attract 7 million foreign visitors next year.

Meanwhile, Rain is set to kick off his world tour in Seoul on Friday.

[Rain Begins World Tour With Seoul Concert]







Superstar singer Rain has begun a six-month world tour, with his first show in Seoul Friday attracting 10-thousand fans from home and abroad. His tour is the largest in Korean pop music history in size and budget.

Rain will hold 35 concerts in 12 countries including the US, Japan and Canada. Working on his tour are leading American choreographer Jamie King, who did Madonna's world tour this year, and renowned concert director Dago Gonzales.

06.12.16 Rain's Seoul concert "It's PERFECT!!&, >80% audience~~


The curtain finally opened!!!

The first concert of Rain's World Tour, has rocked the whole Olympia stadium, Seoul yesterday! In gorgeous and ancient style costumes, Rain immediately heated up the atmosphere when he stepped on the stage!

Rain looked excited, his latest hair style gave a feeling of Cyborg, there were 21 songs in this concert. The highest ticket price is 130k Won, but still the stadium was filled with 80% audience.

There were several mechanical setup on the stage. Every 1-2m there was a automatic underpass/ exit so that the dancers can come out from different angles. Rain himself entered and left directly from the middle of the stage, sideways and the entrance that faced audience. So the audience had no idea where Rain would come out or disappear each time.

After the concert was over, Rain told the reporters that he was still nervous because today was his first performance. However, due to the multi-entrance/exit design of the stage, it saved lots of time for costume changing. In order to show different patterns of 'Rain', there were staffs waiting at the auto-door of each entrance and underpass to assist Rain in costume changing.

In particular, Rain and the crews rehearsed until 3am to familiarise with the standing positions in each song and sequence of costume changing. On the concert, Rain changed more than 10 sets costumes, including white suit, orange jacket, MJ style black & white attire, a series of sports costume in black, leather coat, army attires etc.

Poor RAIN, after his Seoul concert, he's supposed to rest but he still had to promote his movie, which is currently showing. BTW, how's the movie now? Is it still on the no. 1 spot? I hope so.

Airplane to be painted with Rain(Bi)'s image

An airplane will be featuring an image of the singer Rain.

Korean Air will operate airplanes with Rain's image during his world tour "Rain's Coming 06/07 Rain World Tour" which starts on the 23rd with the Las Vegas performance continuing on until the end of next May.

Korean Air personnel commented on the 19th, "We will be operating an airplane to promote Rain's world tour. Korean Air will also be supporting by offering not only complimentary tickets, but also support the tour by transporting performance equipment, as well as marketing through local business networks."

Rain's world tour will consist of 35 performances to be held throughout 11 countries and 17 cities including the U.S., Hong Kong, Singapore, and China amongst others and will last for over 6 months.

Rain's world tour is expected to be the largest in scale for any Korean artist and the total number of audiences is estimated to be around 700,000 to 800,000.

Partial funds earned form the world tour will be donated to charity groups including World Vision and those that support children with AIDS in third-world Asian countries.

Cho Yang Ho, president of Korean Air, commented, "Our support offered holds meaning in that we are supporting the launch of Korean culture internationally, and not simply just an artist. We will fully support the Rain world tour in hopes of successfully exporting our cultural product."

Korean Air also formerly supported Rain's Beijing and Thailand promotions in 2004 and has actively supported Rain's international promotions.

Also, Korean Air has been serving its role in assisting cultural export by offering support to various Hallyu stars such as Bae Yong Joon and baseball player Lee Seung Yeop.

World Star RAIN spent 3 years to prepare his world tour. And now, he is thinking maybe he should write a book about himself!

"Imagine a 'me' after 10 years, spending nearly 12 hours to practise.... Within these 3 years, I'm always be prepared for world tour..."

Through the interview by MBC News Channel, Rain revealed his current situation.

Rain, the first Asian artist stepped on USA to hold his first concert in USA in February, found new target for himself after USA concert. Now, it's the last stage of preparation, soon Rain will begin his World Tour in 12 countries~~


"As an Asian artist to preform in 12 countries, it's considered as large scale concert event. The equipment and technologies that are never used in Korea before, will be involved in this world tour production... The investments in the world tour contribute to performance career in S. Korea." said Rain.

Since Rain is the first Asian to hold such a super scale concert tour, it's not difficult to imagine that great responsility and pressure are lingering on his shoulder, but undoubtedly Rain has the confidence, too!


"I spent 3 years for this world tour. Creativity and designs took 1 year, same for practices. Even though I get used to stage performance, to present a brand new 'me' on a brand new stage, I still need the guidance and assistance from world-class artists. For example, Jamie King who was once MJ's dancer. We invit him to be our stage director."

"I would like to combine the ideas of world-class performers and mine, then apply them in my performance. Also, we import an equipment called Curtain LED and added into the stage setup... I'm so excited, I believe this will make an execellent and perfect stage~~"

Rain only sleeps for 2 hours everyday, the rest he spends on practices.

"As long as the efforts are accumulating, I believe one day I'll be the best singer. Actually I've been thinking when I started: If I keep on practising like this for 10 years, what kind of people I'll be. So, I have to keep it up and practise more~ Never slack.... I need to practise more to show fans the best~"

"On Dec 15 and 16, I'll hold my first concert at Seoul, the Jamsil Olympia Stadium... Now time is running out, so it's about 12 hours for practices.... This world tour has involved every staff, capitals and facilities..."

On the other hand, Rain commented when he reviewed year 2006, "New York concert was a turning point for me, it provided me an alternative. It pushed me to improve. There's an international magazine selected me as The 100 Most Influential People, so I suppose I shall make more changes... If given a chance, I may write a book in S Korea..."

Rain recently signed a spokesperson contract with "Doucyimil" (translation), a quite famous milk product in Thailand. He's in the middle of CF filming. Later, Rain continued, "Michael Jackson was once my imaginary 'competitor', now I seldom think about competitions. Instead, I keep on working hard everyday. It's quite similar to the process of building great wall. 5 years ago, I worked for accomodation for my family, the car, or perhaps travelling. But now, I just simply look for happiness.

On the other hand, Rain was asked about Se7en, a dancer singer whose success path is similar to Rain. "I never think he is my competitor. He has his own strength, he's a junior that I like!"

The Korea Tourism Organization has appointed pop star Rain (Bi) as a friendship ambassador to help promote Korean pop culture and tourist spots around the globe.

The country's leading entertaining figure, who kicked off his world tour concert last week, will serve to promote the country's tourism industry throughout next year, according to the KTO.

The romantic comedy "I'm a Cyborg But That's Okay" has so far drawn only 780,000 viewers, a marked disappointment for the internationally-renowned director whose previous works topped well over 3 million. The film will be removed from about 280 screens nationwide and on most screens will be replaced by "The Restless," a martial arts epic set to be released this evening, CJ Entertainment said.

OMG!!! i saw Bi yesterday at the fashion show mall. (I live in vegas btw) I was just walking in the mall and then i heard all this screaming so I went over to see (it was by the Apple store) and there were all these asian girls jumping and screaming and I'm like, what are they screaming for and i saw Bi! He had all these body guards around him and the girls were trying to touch him and he just had this smile like uh, hi and wow it must be really hard being him. Seeing that in person, he couldn't even walk by.. lol just like in that one episode with the fans in Full House. I knew I shouldve brought my camera with me yesterday!
