Jung races to WB's 'Ninja' for McTeigue (Feb 14, 2008)

SEOUL -- South Korean entertainer Jung Ji-hoon, better known to fans in Asia as "Rain," said Wednesday that he will star in the Warner Bros. movie "Ninja Assassin."
"Ninja Assassin" will be directed by James McTeigue ("V for Vendetta") and produced by the Wachowskis ("The Matrix"), who recently directed Jung in "Speed Racer," Jung said at a news conference.
The movie is scheduled to begin filming in March in Berlin.

Here’s the autograph signed by RAIN recently to his fan………lucky fan. Aside from seeing him personally & having his autograph she still has short conversation with him. And the paper is a CK paper – Seeing his handwriting again makes me smile. It’s adorable. It says : “Happy New Year”.

A: Previously I was filming a movie, but from now on, I would like to fully enter the international market. As for my well-being, everything is proceeding normally. I also intend to familiarize myself in business management; in the sector that I am most specialized with.
Q: People around you often say that you are very genuine. For you, what do you feel is the most important trait?
A: An important trait besides being genuine is the power of perseverance. If one cannot persevere, one will not be able to win. In addition, effort is what takes us to reach our goals. The more effort you put in, the sooner your goals will be realized.
Q: You are a person who is very famous and well-known. Have you ever thought of/wanted to return back to being just a regular guy? Because it seems like you rarely have any personal time for yourself.
A: I’ve debuted for about 5 years already, so my everyday life today has become my norm. I’ve never thought that I live differently from any other person. Before, I normally shopped at places unknown to many; but nowadays, I don’t really have many chances to do such things. But that doesn’t mean that my life isn’t the same as before. I still try to find places to shop where people don’t really frequent. (laughs)
Q: You always put in over a hundred percent effort in everything you do. For you, achieving this point has always been what you expected for yourself, right?
A: When I received the Daesung Award in 2004 and thanked my mother in my speech, that was the highest point of achievement for me already. It made me realize that I have grown and progressed so much at that point. I was the son that mother was proud of. That dream has already become a reality for me.
Q: Do you hold anyone to your esteem?
A: If in the terms of an actor, I would have to say Song Kang Ho (Secret Sunshine/Sympathy for Lady Vengeance). I try to learn from him the most I can. But I don’t expect myself to be as good as him. I also admire the talents from the younger actors as well. In terms of singing, I don’t really have anyone particular in mind because every talent is different in their own way. For me, being able to be everyone’s “bibi” is my greatest wish.
Q: Do you think you have already succeeded?
A: Actually, success is the result of your doings. In terms of fault, I think that I still have many. The result of your efforts is success. If I didn’t put in all my effort but the results were still favorable, to me, I see that as a mistake. I use the amount of effort put in as a measurement for success. If I tried my hardest and succeeded, I have achieved my goal.
Q: Do you eye the newer and younger talents as your competitors?
A: When I first started out, I was also a newbie. The feeling of being a rookie was my own push to do better. But back then, I believed that I was my very own competitor. I had to try my hardest and even until this day I still do. As for the other singers, I think that our styles are just different. Everyone has their own style and to compare this wouldn’t be sensible. For me, being called “bibi” by my fans already gives me great strength.
Q: At times when you are tired and out of strength, but know that you still have obligations to attend to, what do you tell yourself to keep on going?
A: I just tell myself that I want to be the son that my mother is proud of.
Q: Who is the one person that is always in your heart and will never be forgotten?

A: Singers must fully prepare and put in all their efforts for their concerts. Right now, I oversee every aspect of the world tour.
Q: This might be a bad question to ask, but between the fame that comes with being Bi the singer and the fame that comes with being Jung Ji Hoon the actor, which do you like more?
A: Hmm… this is quite difficult to answer. But if out of a hundred, I would say 50 percent for the singer Bi, and 50 percent for the actor Jung Ji Hoon. Being a singer is not so complex. But being an actor is also not my life. I play the role according to the character assigned.
Q: If there was a scheduling conflict between your singing and acting activities, which one would you give more importance to?
A: Well normally, I wouldn’t let my singing and acting activities collide. I also hope that this wouldn’t happen in the future either. (laughs) But if it did happen one day, I would have to give importance to both. I would promote my album and my movie all at once.
Q: Being able to walk the red carpet with Park Chan-Wook and the Wachowski brothers must be a dream come true. Can you describe to us your feelings?
A: Being able to work with Park Chan-Wook and the Wachowski brothers is an unbelievable feeling. I also feel that it was truly a great honor for me to work with the three of them. It was a good and fun experience. Being able to receive this honor makes me realize that I have achieved another stepping stone for myself.
Q: Being able to ride your motorcycle is probably one of the best feelings in the world, right?
A: First of all, it is very refreshing, but I cannot be too reckless. When I drive my motorcycle, my head feels lighter. I really like this feeling.
Q: Besides riding your motorcycle, what other activities make you feel alive?
A: Probably snowboarding because of the same reasons as riding my motorcycle.
Q: Are you currently reading any books?
A: Right now I’m reading a book titled ‘Kihai’. No matter how busy I am, I will make time to read this book.
Q: You’ve been a singer for quite some time now; do you ever feel tired of it?
A: I have remixed some of my older songs from my previous albums. Each song is equally important to me. Being able to sing the remixed versions of my older songs in my world tour brings me sentimental feelings. There is no way that I will ever get tired of singing.
Q: Your Korean fans and your international fans all have a high regard for your singing. How do you feel about this?
A: When I first started to promote myself internationally, I did think that it would be great if I could hold concerts in each of the countries I visited. Surely then it was still a big dream. Since then, I have gotten to know many fans from various countries. At this point, I am able to bring enjoyable songs such as ‘I Do’ and ‘With You’ to my fans. It is really a feeling of great joy. Even when I started to release only 3 singles in Japan, the response has been overwhelming. For this, I must really thank them.
Q: I heard that as a child you really wanted to fly on an airplane. When you saw one in the sky, what were your feelings?
A: The very first time I saw an airplane, I just kept thinking ‘Wowww’. It’s really amazing. I think that when I wished to fly on a plane, I got to do so right away. But there was also a time when I felt sick of flying. But I had to be responsible towards my work. Since the plane is not too big for the sky, I should put in my effort towards my duty.
Q: A new album must come with new dance choreography. How did you input your ideas in this area?
A: Music and dance is already a big part of my life. I’m always observant towards my environment. From there on, I’ll just filter it into my dance to see if it will work.

A: I think it might be the days when I can be easy and do things in a slow pace. But I really don’t look back to those kinds of days anymore. But instead, it’s the love from the fans that makes me happy these days.

This man is looking good during CICI Korea awarding. I love the look although not as stunning & hot as the Lotte concert. Another additional award for his numerous achievements. But I don’t particularly like how his face & body got so thin. I hope he stops losing weight now.

08.02.21 Samsung RAIN with you!, Rain = Samsung Olympic image ambassodor
Rain is invited by Samsung to be its Olympic Image Ambassodor!
The global cooperation partners for Olympic wireless communication (TOP) as well as Samsung, the cooperation partners of 2008 Beijing Olympic Torchbearers Relayeurs made an official announcement today, that Asian super star RAIN (Jeong Jihoon) will work together with Samsung and becomes its Olympic Image Ambassador. Rain will sing a specially featured Samsung Olympic theme song and participates in the theme MV as well. On top of that, Samsung plans to release the first Samsung handphone which is named after artists, i.e. "Rain Phone", which is a publicity event to promote sales for Samsung during Olympic.
With his healthy, diligent, confident and the spirit of fighting to realise his dreams, Rain has perfectly interpreted the concepts that Samsung would like to deliver: Never stop dreaming and never give up to make the dreams come true. Hence Rain becomes the Samsung Olympic Image Ambassador, who shall express the Olympic spirits of always challenging and surpassing oneself. The cooperation of Samsung and Rain reflects the combination of Olympic games and the latest entertainment icons, where another wave of Olympic idolism is expected to come after that, and hence to encourage more harmoniuos atmosphere in 2008 Beijing Olympics.
The Olympic theme song and MV shooting shall be completed in this April. I find that he is good at regurgitating facts and repeating the same thing over and over again. However, when it comes to initiating new ideas, he is weaker. I think the person we should thank who has made rain who he is today is his ex-producer JYP. JYP is an intelligent and perceptive person, he groomed rain and taught him confidence. Frankly, I found rain self-conscious on stage when he debuted. Over the years, he began to flash the same smile, say the same words which pull at your heart strings. But when it comes down to intellectual substance, I'm not impressed. So, is rain really marriage material? In my opinion, I wouldn't choose him. A good performer on stage does not encompass everything. Perhaps that's why song hye gyo didn't want to accept his 'dating hints'?

Hoorah! At last someone spoke the truth according to his/her observations and yes he is quite lacking leadership and intellectual capacities are lacking. But again he will get by because of handlers who are good at what they do.

The 'Korean wave' is getting stronger and stronger in Hollywood now. Whether it's Korean actors from S. Korea or those American-born Korean artists, the audience can see more Korean faces show up in Hollywood box-offices. It is said that some producers do not mind to amend their scripts to invite the Korean actors. And it seems to be easier to enter this movie kingdom nowadays.
Just a few years ago, news like "Actor XXX has met Hollywood personnels, etc" could occupy the headlines. However, some usual filming news is no longer catching the eyeballs. In other words, it's pretty 'normal' for Korean actors to star in Hollywood films.
One of the best examples is Korean mega star, RAIN. With the support from Wachowski brothers, his Hollywood career has a good kick-start by starring in the film <Speed Racer>. Casting was unveiled at a Wednesday press conference in Seoul with William Morris Agency exec veep John Mass and Rain’s agency J.Tune Entertainment.
Rain plays a supporting role in the Wachowskis’ upcoming “Speed Racer.” He also starred in Park Chan-wook’s 2007 Berlin Competition entry “I’m a Cyborg, but That’s OK.”
WMA and J.Tune have announced a special partnership to guide Rain’s emergence as an international star.
The singer’s other upcoming activities include recording a new version of ‘70s hit “Kung Fu Fighting” for this summer’s release of DreamWorks animation “Kung Fu Panda” and various music events tied to the Beijing Olympics.

During the press conference, Samsung Electronics, the official sponsor of wireless technology for the Beijing Olympic Games, announced it had selected Rain as its publicity envoy. Fans also had a chance to meet the superstar in person.
Samsung Electronics described Rain as a young, passionate and ambitious person whose image well-matched that of the company. It added that the global company Samsung Electronics and trendsetter Rain will add "a special sparkle" to the upcoming Olympic games.

It is so excited to see Rain all prepared and promoting from Asia to America. I mean he has speed racer coming up in the United States. And then he has the Samsung olympic song. In addition, the Nikon and MIIOW? commercial shootings. However, I do miss the fact that he hasn't been into music lately except for hte Lotte Concert.

His representative company J.TUNE pointed out that Rain's American agent WMA (WILLIAM MORRIS AGENCY, L.L.C) and England's Rocklock Films Ltd. had signed on Rain's related compensation for his role in <Ninja Assassin> to be at US$500,000, and upon the screening of the movie the profits from the box office will be divided based on the "Running Guarantee" contract.
Rain's $500,000 compensation does not count as much considering he is acting the leading role in a movie that cost hundreds of millions of dollars to produce. Regarding this, Rain's side said, "As of now we are not considering money income, stages of compensation of the contract and so on. We are just approaching this from an attitude of a newbie as a good form of work. Rain is in the middle of the process of realizing a dream."
Although it is only $500,000 in the beginning, trust that it will be a market of $5,000,000 or $50,000,000 US dollars later. Rain hopes that his own march towards Hollywood will broaden the industry for South Korean actors as well.
Rain went abroad to Berlin on March 7th for the filming of <Ninja Assassin>. He will be there for approximately 3 months, concentrating on the movie shoot.

The Korea singer had a world tour in 2007 and before his concert in Thailand, he signed a contract with MAMA, a Thai company, to allow it to use his picture for the packaging of it cup noodles. Under the terms of this contract, the cup noodles with Rain’s picture on it can only be sold within a given period but unfortunately, that term was not followed and is still on sale up to this day. Pictures of the cup noodles can actually be found in the Internet.

The value of the two stars’ voices were examined in MBC Every1’s “Magazine One,” which will be aired on April 2 at 6:55 pm.
Insurance in Korea is unlike in Hollywood where each part of a celebrity’s body are separately insured. Voice insurance is given a special provision in the insurance policy and an appropriate tag price.

After 4 months of planning and production, Rain’s official site was opened today, April 8. According to J Tune Entertainment, this new site reflects Rain’s efforts and pursuit to new ideas.
Upon entering the site, visitors will be welcomed by a flash animation of dancing Rains and to commemorate the opening of the site, Rain’s video message that was shot in Berlin can be seen in the site.
With this site, Rain aims to stay close to fans, like breathing with them, as it will be difficult to be in contact with them because of his long-term overseas plans.
The site is planned to contain his private images, various video contents, schedules and even Hollywood movie news that will be updated in real time.

Part I: Life is a Challenge
Q: How do you feel about the new photo shoot?
A: This photo shoot was a lot of fun. It might be due to the fact that I’ve never thought of work as a duty I have to carry out; instead I see it as something fun to do. I really like to work. The various challenges make work enjoyable for me. But that doesn’t mean that I am not afraid of anything. In fact, if I have to take up new challenges, it makes me somewhat nervous as well. That makes it exciting.
Q: The fact that you view new challenges as something enjoyable seems to be the reason to your many achievements and your status as a world star. Whatever you do, it seems that you do all of it very well.
A: I’ve never thought of myself as better than anyone else. Even though I may be doing a lot of things, but I never think that I am better than others. Especially working in Hollywood, I have to double my efforts because if I don’t I would never achieve anything. The most important thing is to do your best in the job that has been handed to you. Quality is more important than quantity.
Q: Because ‘Speed Racer’ is being directed by the Wachowski brothers of the Matrix Trilogy, the movie has already been highlighted and highly anticipated. How do you feel about getting the opportunity to work with Hollywood’s A-listed?
A: I really liked ‘The Matrix’; therefore I already had an interest in the Wachowski brothers in particular. It’s like a dream. They are world-renowned directors. Before I met them, I wondered how they were going to be like. When I got to working with them for a while, there was really nothing to be afraid about. They were both really kind and always encouraging towards everybody on the set.
Q: Though the filming process may be tiresome, but you look really happy and pleased with it. What were the times that were most pleasing to you?
A: Times when others placed their trust in me as well as the times when I was praised by the directors. Even though I may work hard, but English is not my native tongue. I was really worried about being scolded for my accent, but luckily it was never pointed out.
Q: Have you ever felt so tired that you just wanted to stop?
A: The thing is, I have a personality that likes challenges and new adventures. The thought of defeat has never crossed my mind. But having to live in a foreign country for a period of time was truly lonely for me.
Q: Even when you aren’t doing anything, you are still the infamous Rain. So why do you feel the need to tire yourself all the time? Why do you always take up new challenges?
A: There really isn’t a reason. It’s just that it’s my wanting to do so. Another thing is that it’s like a ‘duty’ so to say, when good opportunities come my way, I feel I should take up the challenge. If I was too scared to take up new challenges, then surely there would be no ‘Rain’ in the future. I don’t want a plain and simple life; I don’t want to be satisfied with the status quo when there is clearly an opportunity in front of me. If I was too busy being scared of hardship, I would surely regret it in the future. Even if I did it and it failed, I wouldn’t see it as a failure. For me, a life without challenges is a life that has no meaning. It’s not fun and there is no happiness. Achieve one dream and then continue to dream bigger. Keep on challenging it…this is me…this is Rain.
Q: You were able to show your acting skills through many series and were able to acquire many praises as well as those who thought otherwise. But with the movie ‘I’m a Cyborg, But that’s OK’, your cuteness and ability to draw laughter attracted many praises. Besides your single-eyelid complex, is there any other complex that you have?
A: Actually, there are many things that I don’t really like about myself. For example, less acting experience, amateur acting, many things that make me unsatisfied. Therefore, when I chose my scripts, I will choose roles that I have never played before. With the character Ill-Soon, I think that there is an underlying meaning to his character. Working with Park Chan-Wook has allowed me to learn many things. The character I play is able to attract the audience. For this, I really must thank the heavens. As for my single-eyelid, I don’t see it as a complex. Rather, I see it as my charm. It makes me different from the others.
Part II: Personal Life
Q: What do you normally do when you are resting?
A: I like to work out. Also, I’m still studying English and I’m really diligently studying it. Even when I’m not ‘working’ it still doesn’t really feel like I am resting. It’s just that I don’t have a schedule for that day, that’s all. But really, work is always on my mind (laughs). Come to think of it, is there really a time when I’m not working?
Q: Then surely there mustn’t be any time for you to go out to eat or shop because you keep on working. What would happen if one day you wanted to go out to eat at a small corner shop? What would you do?
A: If I felt the urge to go out and eat, then I would just do it. If I wanted to go shopping, I would just go. Of course it’s not easy for me to go to places where there are many people, but that still doesn’t stop me from doing the things I want to do. No matter what, I would never stop doing the things that make me happy.
Q: Is there anything you would never think of giving up?
A: Things like going out for Korean BBQ with my friends (laughs). Is that too easy? I really like that type of atmosphere; the feeling of eating out with friends and happily chatting the night away.
Q: You’re always surrounded by people such as your bodyguards, managers, and personal staff. Have you ever thought of wanting to run away from that type of feeling?
A: (laughs) I’m not a person living inside a box like that. Even with my bodyguards, managers, and staff surrounding me, I don’t feel as if I’m being trapped from the outside world. It’s more like I get to see the world through their eyes. I also receive news from the internet as well. My staff is like my family. I treat them the same way I treat my family. Actually, I spend more time with my staff than I do with my family. Therefore I have nothing to hide; I don’t feel the least bit trapped.
Q: How much time do you spend working out to obtain such a perfect body?
A: Actually, I don’t really spend that much time working out. I didn’t intend to train my muscles. The image that I have to present on stage is my dance moves and stamina; not my muscles. I work out to maintain my physique for dancing. I’ve always liked to dance and will like dancing forever. Therefore I have to workout to sustain my agility when dancing, which is harder than training muscles.
Q: You were also the spokesperson for a famous brand of jeans. Do you have any tips to wear jeans fashionably?
A: First of all, you have to know what your outstanding point is. For example, if your hips are small or if your hips aren’t pretty, then you should wear jeans that have big pockets to divert attention away from your hips. Or if you have a small waist, then you could wear low-rise jeans. But I don’t think sexiness comes from people’s body types. Rather, it’s more of a sense of style. Confidence in yourself makes others view you as sexy.

Part I: Life is a Challenge
Q: How do you feel about the new photo shoot?
A: This photo shoot was a lot of fun. It might be due to the fact that I’ve never thought of work as a duty I have to carry out; instead I see it as something fun to do. I really like to work. The various challenges make work enjoyable for me. But that doesn’t mean that I am not afraid of anything. In fact, if I have to take up new challenges, it makes me somewhat nervous as well. That makes it exciting.
Q: The fact that you view new challenges as something enjoyable seems to be the reason to your many achievements and your status as a world star. Whatever you do, it seems that you do all of it very well.
A: I’ve never thought of myself as better than anyone else. Even though I may be doing a lot of things, but I never think that I am better than others. Especially working in Hollywood, I have to double my efforts because if I don’t I would never achieve anything. The most important thing is to do your best in the job that has been handed to you. Quality is more important than quantity.
Q: Because ‘Speed Racer’ is being directed by the Wachowski brothers of the Matrix Trilogy, the movie has already been highlighted and highly anticipated. How do you feel about getting the opportunity to work with Hollywood’s A-listed?
A: I really liked ‘The Matrix’; therefore I already had an interest in the Wachowski brothers in particular. It’s like a dream. They are world-renowned directors. Before I met them, I wondered how they were going to be like. When I got to working with them for a while, there was really nothing to be afraid about. They were both really kind and always encouraging towards everybody on the set.
Q: Though the filming process may be tiresome, but you look really happy and pleased with it. What were the times that were most pleasing to you?
A: Times when others placed their trust in me as well as the times when I was praised by the directors. Even though I may work hard, but English is not my native tongue. I was really worried about being scolded for my accent, but luckily it was never pointed out.
Q: Have you ever felt so tired that you just wanted to stop?
A: The thing is, I have a personality that likes challenges and new adventures. The thought of defeat has never crossed my mind. But having to live in a foreign country for a period of time was truly lonely for me.
Q: Even when you aren’t doing anything, you are still the infamous Rain. So why do you feel the need to tire yourself all the time? Why do you always take up new challenges?
A: There really isn’t a reason. It’s just that it’s my wanting to do so. Another thing is that it’s like a ‘duty’ so to say, when good opportunities come my way, I feel I should take up the challenge. If I was too scared to take up new challenges, then surely there would be no ‘Rain’ in the future. I don’t want a plain and simple life; I don’t want to be satisfied with the status quo when there is clearly an opportunity in front of me. If I was too busy being scared of hardship, I would surely regret it in the future. Even if I did it and it failed, I wouldn’t see it as a failure. For me, a life without challenges is a life that has no meaning. It’s not fun and there is no happiness. Achieve one dream and then continue to dream bigger. Keep on challenging it…this is me…this is Rain.
Q: You were able to show your acting skills through many series and were able to acquire many praises as well as those who thought otherwise. But with the movie ‘I’m a Cyborg, But that’s OK’, your cuteness and ability to draw laughter attracted many praises. Besides your single-eyelid complex, is there any other complex that you have?
A: Actually, there are many things that I don’t really like about myself. For example, less acting experience, amateur acting, many things that make me unsatisfied. Therefore, when I chose my scripts, I will choose roles that I have never played before. With the character Ill-Soon, I think that there is an underlying meaning to his character. Working with Park Chan-Wook has allowed me to learn many things. The character I play is able to attract the audience. For this, I really must thank the heavens. As for my single-eyelid, I don’t see it as a complex. Rather, I see it as my charm. It makes me different from the others.
Part II: Personal Life
Q: What do you normally do when you are resting?
A: I like to work out. Also, I’m still studying English and I’m really diligently studying it. Even when I’m not ‘working’ it still doesn’t really feel like I am resting. It’s just that I don’t have a schedule for that day, that’s all. But really, work is always on my mind (laughs). Come to think of it, is there really a time when I’m not working?
Q: Then surely there mustn’t be any time for you to go out to eat or shop because you keep on working. What would happen if one day you wanted to go out to eat at a small corner shop? What would you do?
A: If I felt the urge to go out and eat, then I would just do it. If I wanted to go shopping, I would just go. Of course it’s not easy for me to go to places where there are many people, but that still doesn’t stop me from doing the things I want to do. No matter what, I would never stop doing the things that make me happy.
Q: Is there anything you would never think of giving up?
A: Things like going out for Korean BBQ with my friends (laughs). Is that too easy? I really like that type of atmosphere; the feeling of eating out with friends and happily chatting the night away.
Q: You’re always surrounded by people such as your bodyguards, managers, and personal staff. Have you ever thought of wanting to run away from that type of feeling?
A: (laughs) I’m not a person living inside a box like that. Even with my bodyguards, managers, and staff surrounding me, I don’t feel as if I’m being trapped from the outside world. It’s more like I get to see the world through their eyes. I also receive news from the internet as well. My staff is like my family. I treat them the same way I treat my family. Actually, I spend more time with my staff than I do with my family. Therefore I have nothing to hide; I don’t feel the least bit trapped.
Q: How much time do you spend working out to obtain such a perfect body?
A: Actually, I don’t really spend that much time working out. I didn’t intend to train my muscles. The image that I have to present on stage is my dance moves and stamina; not my muscles. I work out to maintain my physique for dancing. I’ve always liked to dance and will like dancing forever. Therefore I have to workout to sustain my agility when dancing, which is harder than training muscles.
Q: You were also the spokesperson for a famous brand of jeans. Do you have any tips to wear jeans fashionably?
A: First of all, you have to know what your outstanding point is. For example, if your hips are small or if your hips aren’t pretty, then you should wear jeans that have big pockets to divert attention away from your hips. Or if you have a small waist, then you could wear low-rise jeans. But I don’t think sexiness comes from people’s body types. Rather, it’s more of a sense of style. Confidence in yourself makes others view you as sexy.
