In this first interview of the group, as a 5 man-unit, since October, we can feel the stronger unity of the group more than ever. With the release date for their third single "Bokura no machi de" already decided for the 7th of December, they excitedly say " We really want to perform live~". The 5 remaining members have neither feelings of hesitation nor lost their bearings.
----What have you done lately?
Taguchi: I went skydiving in Hawaii.
Nakamaru: For stress relief, I've been playing "stand-up" golf. *
Tanaka: I gained 3 kilos from muscle training ( weight training).
Kamenashi: At the set of Tatta Hitotsu no Koi ( NTV),
during lunch break,I brought a portable gas burner and
made myself shabu shabu.
Ueda: I also ended up doing household chores.
I cleaned as well as ironed.
Kamenashi: Lately, I have been especially thinking that the origin
of the name KAT-TUN has been fulfilled ( came to be).
Hasn't it truly become a "Cartoon" (manga)?
Taguchi: It feels as if we have come home to our origins
( original intention).
Kamenashi: As we turn the pages, slowly a new story unfolds.
Whatever happens in the next page, even we don't know.
Ueda: What episode are we in now?
Kamenashi: We just ended with the first episode and are just
about to enter the second.
Nakamaru: I also have been thinking about something.
Isn't KAT-TUN a family? I'm like the father who simply
takes a bath***
Ueda: Taguchi is the mother who can handle the money****,
and Koki's the youngest.
Nakamaru: The second son is Ueda, and the eldest son is...
Akanishi, I think.
The other 4: Yeah, yeah, that's so right ( complete agreement).
Ueda: Because he has this aura/way of being the eldest brother.
Like someone who'd go his own way.***** But coming from me
who's actually older, what's that? (lol).
Tanaka: Kame's the eldest daughter.
Kamenashi: Because I'm level-headed (reliable, firm)? (lol)
I think it's really good that we're a group that can
gather together (unite and do things as a group)
when we need to (?). Two years ago when Taguchi
was injured, didn't we work as a 5 man group?
Therefore, I don't think that what we're doing now
is anything special (different). Each one of us
accumulates experience and we return to this place,
this (place) is KAT-TUN.

*basically, just hitting the golf ball, it doesn't say here whether he does it at home or at a golf range. But in another interview, I recall that Nakamaru specifically mentioning that he was playing at a golf range. What's a golf range? Remember that scene in Kurosagi where Yamapi "plays" golf to spy on the other swindler-- that's a golf range in the
Japanese context.
** Kame said "Hitori shabu shabu", which indicates that he ate alone. Shabu shabu is when you have a boiling hot pot and dip pieces of thinly sliced meat in it until these are cooked. Then, you dip the cooked meat in sauce before eating it. The common custom is that two or more people share shabu-shabu. So when Kame says "hitori shabu shabu", he's implying that it was a lonely experience.
*** Nakamaru said " Boku wa jimini ofuroni haitteiruyouna otousan". Taking a bath in the Japanese context means taking a shower first, or using a small plastic or wooden bucket to pour water to clean one's self first before entering the ofuro (bath tub). After one cleans one's body, one can soak in the hot (40C and above) bathtub. In a family, the bath water in the ofuro is usually shared. Btw, the ofuro must be deep enough so that when a person sits in it, the water level reaches the neckline. Nakamaru is comparing himself to a father who just came home from work tired, and goes and soaks into the ofuro to unwind. This is a common experience in Japanese family life--thus Nakamaru evokes that shared memory in what he says in this line to basically express that he's a typical Japanese dad.
**** In Japan, it is usually the mother who handles the money in the family. Ueda is actually saying that Taguchi is like the mom since he can handle money matters well.
***** Ueda actually says " Wa ga michi wo iku/yuku". Literally " I go my way", but with the use of "WA" to indicate "I' , the nuance is that the action is of supreme importance and seriousness. "Wa" is usually used in statements like " Wa ga kuni", which mean "my country" = Japan, used in political speech, etc. The effect would've been totally different if other forms for "I" were used. Again, Ueda here appeals to the shared image of an eldest son. One typical image of an eldest son is someone who tries to find his own identity away from the father.
(?) Kame said " Orera wa kokozotteiu toki ni gatte atsumareru guruupude ii to omou yo". I translated this sentence out of contextual clues because I'm not precisely sure of "kokozotte". I was thinking that the verb here is "Kozoru", if this is the case, what i can't figure out is what is the extra ko doing in front of kozoru? Help!!!

i don't know if you guys talked about this yet or if any of you are in america or canada but it looks like wal-mart has KAT-TUN cd there. i see it on wal-mart's website but i haven't gone to check if it's in the store. has anyone seen it in the store. well i'll go check and if it's there i'll buy it. hopefully it's an official cd release of it.
