Gosh, haven't been here for so long, thanks so much for all the great pics, she looks gorgeous in them as always...I particularly love the ones with Huang Xiao Ming, they look so cute and so compatible together does anyone know what function it was? I'm a bit behind with Vicki's news.

I did read that 'Painted Skin' is doing very well in the box office, gong xi to the cast & crew.

I just saw the red cliff. I really like Vicki's role. She was very lively and funny. I thought she had great chemistry with Takeshi and Tony. I hope that she will pair up with these two talented actors in the future. I also hope that she will pair up with HXM as well. I love HXM. He's so hot.

i heard the painted skin horror movie has good revieuw!!! i'm very happy for her, coz i also have read somewhere that she had suffered a lot during the filming.

by the way, does anyone know where i can download the movie of her with the jap " The Longest Night in Shanghai " ? i really want to know how they communicated which each other

I first saw Zhao Wei when I was a kid watching HZGG, and I've always thought she was very pretty and a really good actress. However I'm recently watching her in Romance in the Rain, and can't help but find her to be a miscast for her role. Either her role in HZGG just happened to fit her really well and she's actually not a very good actress or her role in Romance in the Rain is really really bad for her. She looks lifeless when she's supposed to be angry and is brimming with emotion when she should be lifeless; there are all the minute things I get more from the rest of the cast that I just don't feel from her.

electricity - well we all have different opinions afterall...I thought she did a rather 'decent' job with her role in Romance in the Rain...but I too didn't feel she fitted that role too well...I didn't think it was one of her best roles...or perhaps some ppl were still so used to her role in HZGG back then, it took them a while to warm up to her role in RITR. But if you have doubts about her acting ability, then I suggest you watch some of her other works, I think she's a very good actress and quite versatile...but like any actor/actress, there are still times when they receive roles which don't really suit them.

Anyway, congratulations to Vicki for being #8 on China's top 50 list of most beautiful people.

From Screen Debut to a Celebrated Star



Vicki Zhao, or Zhao Wei, gained her first experience in front of the camera in 1993 when she was chosen as an extra in 'Hua Hua', a film starring Gong Li. After that, Zhao decided to pursue an acting career.

In the years that followed, Zhao was finally given her first leading role in a series called 'Sisters in Beijing' after playing minor roles in various TV series and films. It was there that she was spotted by famous Taiwan romance writer Chiung Yao, who was looking for a lead in her TV series 'Princess Pearl', or known as 'Huanzhu Gege' in Chinese.

Vicki Zhao rose to stardom after landing the leading role in that popular series of Chiung Yao.

Following her role in 'Princess Pearl', Zhao became a prominent actress in China.

In 2008, Zhao was cast as Sun Shangxiang in John Woo's blockbuster 'Red Cliff' and its sequel. While in early 2009 she will play the role of Hua Mulan in Jingle Ma's film 'Mulan'.

Vicki is just adoreable.
I love her acting and love her singing too.
;P she's really amazing, and has done many great movies.

Hi Imelda. It's nice to come across someone with the same opinion. At first, I was hoping that HXM can play the role opposite of Vicki in Mulan, but I guess because of the recent popularity of Painted Skin, Chen Kun has more consideration for the role instead.

I love watching Vicki with ancient costumes. I think it suits her a lot more than wearing modern attire.

And I miss her acting in series after watching Painted Skin and Red Cliff 1&2.

^ Vicki's next movie is Hua Mulan and now still filming.. after Hua Mulan, She will film another movie.. so dont miss it!! hee..
