Thanks for posting and translating the articles guys! She's becoming beautiful than ever. I wonder what did she do? In HZGG, she looks quite different. Hopefully she won't have any surgery like others.

She has matured alot since HZGG, and that's evident through her dramatic change in appearance as well as personality. And don't worry, despite what some non-fans say, she NEVER had any surgery...but she did get her teeth whitened and straightened, but that's normal as to how she look so different, during her change in personality, she has also changed her appearance from a cute image to a more mature image, that's why she looks different, her beauty is natural

I see. She's terrific in "Jing hua yan yun". But the latest work "Fast Track Love" is so so compared to the previous work. I dunno, maybe it's just me.

yeah.. thought it was so so too. she doesn't do stuff like "Fast Track Love" often. but she doesn't really have a preference genre for her dramas. she's always trying new things

It's not really the roles she plays, it's her own personality that has matured alot...she's a versatile actress, so she plays a whole range of different roles. And unlike Jing Hua Yan Yun, Fast Track Love is actually an idol series, so that drama is quite plain compared to all her other works, I think FTL was the very first idol series Vicki ever starred in.

was Old House Has Joy and idol series? it was a really long time ago though. it was like they plucked her right out of Huan Zhu Ge Ge and put her in OHHJ.

I don't think Old House has Joy was an idol series. Idol series technically started with meteor garden and OHHJ was way before that. Although it did have similar aspects like picking the leads to be good-looking popular young actors and a lovey dovely storyline.

QSSYMM is definitely NOT an idol drama...first of all, it's a Qiong Yao series, and all her works are NEVER made into idol dramas, and the story itself is WAY too deep to be an 'idol drama'.



Not necessarily, sometimes they can be a mix of modern and ancient...but NEVER just ancient alone.

I actually thought FTL was pretty good, though Vicki's role wasn't anything special or spectacular, but it was still a great performance from her

PS. I have doubts about TYFHLM being an 'idol drama', cuz it certainly doesn't seem like one.

I was thinking about that too. I'm kinda bordering on TYFHLM not being an idol series because the themes seem too mature for an idol series. There's affairs outside of marriages, having babies, single modern mother in the big city stuff. Idol series seem to have more frivolous topics and tend to be about dating rather than serious marriage stuff. The actors in TYFHLM are kinda old too and idol series really like young actors in their 20's.

It's was nice to see AV together again. It really reminds of the HZGG days, I really wish they would do another series together. And I just finished watching Moment of Peking (I know I'm wayyy behind). Vicki performance in that series was great and the storyline was really good. Can anyone tell me if MOP was a true story or not?

^Yeah! Wasn't MIP sosososososo good?! I loved it. I truly think it's one of the best tv series I've ever seen. The plot never died out and it was fast paced through the whole thing. So good. And the cast was awesome and the costumes were GORGEOUS! I love that show now.
No, it's not a true story. It's based on Lin Yu Tang's fictional novel. He was trying to write a modern day Hong Lou Meng (Dream in the red Chamber?) and just show the mindset and beliefs of Chinese people at that time.

omg!! my favorite part was the costumes!! i love the costumes.. they were so elegant and elaborate.. i really liked vicki's hair too in there. it was gorgeous

^ hahah I LOVE Vicki's hair in it too! She has so many different hairstyles and dresses. I think my favorite is when she invites Cao Li Hua for the first time to the tea shop or restaurant whatever and she comes down the stairs in her dark blue dress with pearls and LOVE her hair in that side ponytail kinda. I love that part! Vicki is so pretty! And I love all her scarves and wraps that she wears like the white one that's fluffy on the sides and the scarf she wore on her first trip back to "niang jia". It was the trip when she ended up arguing with her younger sister and slapping herself. I think the scarf was plaid and purpleish...haha anyways my point is: Vicki's gorgeous and the costumes are AMAZING!

^I was actually trying to find the book too, but I can't find it anywhere! I looked in public libraries, book stores, amazon, but nothing.
My avatar came as a set with my signature poster (I don't know why some posts show my signature and some don't) but anyways, they're made by angelic_betrayal, who has a request shop in the creative boutique forum. The picture in the avatar is from a magazine shoot Vicki did. I don't remember what magazine, but I think you can find it in Vicki's gallery here at AF or I think I may have gotten mine from the gallery at AV Odyssey. Hope that helps!

the dress was for a magazine photoshoot of Bazaar. it's believed that the woman who published it (zou xue) planned it because that was the same woman that befriended vicki after the whole situation, created a lot of rumors about vicki and claimed that vicki hit her.

Alec Su back to study in National Taiwan University
Taiwan artist Alec Su has taken a web-design related course in National Taiwan University.

Rumours indicate that Alec was inspired by his good buddy Vicki Zhao who is now pursuing a master degree, and decided that he should go back to study as well.

Alec Su was previously a NTU’s engineering student, but dropped out from university due to financial reasons. Alec was already a star back then but his popularity was dropping and found himself in financial difficulties and had to drop out from his studies.

It has been a decade since Alec dropped out from university, which is said to be one of his saddest decisions; but he’s now getting back to NTU again. According to Alec it’s just a short study, but it’s good to see a star continues to improve himself.

Five years have passed.. And I was just able to watch So Close last night. How funny this may seem but I would say Vicki Zhao really did well in that movie. I liked how she portrayed the young Sue (in subtitles, her English name is Sue.. I don't know Chinese).. It's in her facial expression that you see how the immature Sue matured and developed after the death of her older sister, Lynn.

yes, that was an old rumor and it never pulled through...but now it may seem like it has re-surfaced...I don't know how though, I only knew about it when I saw that Slam Dunk thread with the info...I have high doubts about it cuz I and I'm sure many other Vicki fans out there have heard nothing of it...to us, it was only just a rumor back in 2004...but now that rumor has re-surfaced and we don't know if this time is true or false.

"Popular actress Zhao Wei said that if possible, she wants to stay at the university as a teacher after finishing her postgraduate study. She said she got used to the regular life as a student. She gets up at 6am and attends classes from 8am till 5pm every day. "I love the life in the university. It's so real and simple," she said. "My goal is to be a good actress, but if possible, I want to be a teacher."

Zhao enrolled for postgraduate study at the Beijing Film Academy last September, and her study focuses on directing, which will help develop her future career. She also said she wants to direct her own film.

Thanks for the update! Yah, I had read that article about Vicki wanting to be a teacher a couple weeks ago. She's so wonderful and eager to learn. I think Vicki's mom was a music teacher, so she really influenced Vicki. Vicki seems to really value education, which is great, since she has her scholarship program and now she's going back to school and even contemplating about becoming a teacher. Although we fans would definitely miss her sooo much if she quits the entertainment circle.

It'll be great if she decides to stay in uni and become a teacher, she really values education. Though it'll no doubt be sad if she leaves showbiz, and her fans will certainly miss her...but changing a career can be a good thing; she'll live a more relaxing free life and at the same time, she'll be doing something she loves.
Life as a megastar is very stressful and sometimes it can be brutal and unfair, and Vicki has suffered alot during her years in showbiz...being a teacher is alot more relaxing life, and there's 2 major aspects that showbiz life is heavily lacking; freedom and privacy.

It's not just because of the entertainment...she is doing what she loves, and she knows that life as a celebrity is hard, and it does have its cruelness and unfairness, but when u are pursuing ur passion, u don't give up so easily. Vicki has faced alot of difficulties in showbiz, but she has overcome these negatives, proving just how brave and strong she is. She is not the type who would give up so easily, instead, she faces her obstacles with bravery. If she really felt that life in showbiz is too hard for her, then she would've given up her career years ago, but she didn't.

And to us fans, we not only love her because she's a talented actress and singer, we also love her because of her courageous and strong personality...she is really the bravest and mentally strongest artist I have ever come to know, she has faced alot of difficulties since she first entered showbiz, and yet after so many yrs, she still manages to stay on top.
