Man this show reminds me so much of Central Affairs. ATV seems to make shows will similar themes on greed, the social economic of business and revenge. But No Turning Back looks better than Central Affairs. Cuz Michelle Yim's acting wasn't very good. She seemd fake

If NTB causes the same stir "Central Affairs" created, then I'm all for it.

The theme maybe similar, but aren't all series about greed/revenge -- including TVB series -- roughly the same?

I see a lot of potential in NTB and I hope it at least achieve double digits in ratings when we get into the core of the series.

"Dicey Business" starts off strong, but I predict it'll be laden with the same old love-triangle crap eventually. whistle.gif

And I agree Michelle Ye was not up for her role in "Central Affairs".

There are def some elements that make the two series similar.. but I think it's just cuz ATV doesn't make many series and when they find a combination that works.. they stick to it!

Maybe the beginning was a little similar. However, this is much better quality than Central Affairs. I think they were rushing CA too much--they started airing it even before filming finished--and I felt the series going downhill as it went on.

Someone mentioned that the flashbacks were boring, but I think they're very interesting because they encapsulate both a feeling and a little piece of a story such a short period of time. Most of these flashbacks are only 1-2 minutes long, yet they are able to portray why this character is feeling a certain way. The music that goes along with these flashbacks bring a nostalgic and/or melancholic feeling that appropriate for setting the past apart from the present.

Compared to CA, NTB seems to have a tighter and more coherent plot. It is very suspenseful and has several storylines happening and developing... who framed Patrick's dad, who killed the DJ, even the complicated relationships. At first, I was thinking Patrick would only be with Amy, yet it looks like he has some thing with Patricia, but we know from the relationship chart that Patricia marries Hawick...

From the start it is the same as Central afairs for some reason ATV always like starting off with some one dying or jumbing off the roof like Micheel Ye and thinks back the stories.

They also like flashbacks alot for these type of series, they did it for To Where he Belong which starred a similar cast to Flaming Brothers but instead Michael was the bad guy and Patrick was the good guy. TWHB started with Damian Lau talking in a mental room and it flashes to what happened. Central Affair 1 and 2 was a flashback and now this also starts with a flashback. I guess it depends on who the scripts writer is, maybe he or she likes doing that.

Having the series as a flashback foreshadows future events in the series, that is probably why they do it so much. Whereas with TVB they want to leave the ending as a "suprise" just so they get higher ratings on the finales, although the endings are usually cliche.

What is interesting to me is that there is a rape scene in both series.. I feel like ATV purposely tries to include a rape scene to get higher ratings... TVB is rarely so graphic..

I agree that all series about greed have pretty much similar storylines. Both TVB and ATV have pretty much recycled those same plots over and over again. Usually its one person that has this desire for money & power which leads that person into committing serious crimes.

I defo agree Michelle is not good in her role. I dont think she can pull off the acting cool and wicked in her role. She seems fake and her tone just doenst go.

Yeh I agree that both series are both really similar in certain ways, although I do prefer NTB over CA. The both started off with a suicidal, and there are many flashbacks thorughout the show. But I did enjoy both shows. Besides Michelle Yeh, I don't like her acting for some reason... Sometimes when she talks its like she's not moving her mouth, its annoying..
