I've noticed that there are quite a few people here who love this couple! ShinKumi are such a cute couple don't ya think? It's so disappointing that they were not together in the drama version!

To anyone who is unfamiliar with this couple...they are from Gokusen, 'ShinKumi' stands for 'Shin' and 'Yankumi', they were never really an 'official' couple in either the manga, anime or drama versions...however, because many people think they are so cute together, this couple has many fans and supporters, in the eyes of their fans, they ARE a beautiful couple!

Im also disappointed they weren't together..but I love the last line in last special of Gokusen 1 where they were talking bout how those three..i dink the name was tetsu and the two police officers, i forgot their name.. wouldn't give up Yankumi and shin said something like "sorry but that makes the four of us"

I think that's in ep 12...not the special ep...there's only 1 special ep, the others are just normal eps. but yes, that part was cute! It's just so disappointing that Shin falls in love with Yankumi, but she doesn't love him the same way

Yes it was..aww.they were together in anime? I didn't watch Anime so I dont know...I was hoping for them to get together but then again..I think Yankumi probaly like him has one of her student not that way.!

I think the anime was released in 2004, so the drama version was released before the anime version...I'm still watching the anime, it's pretty much the same as the manga...they changed alot of things in the drama though...I think it would've been better if they just sticked to the original storyline like the anime...at least, they should've sticked to the original ShinKumi storyline! Cuz they were actually alot closer to each other in the manga and anime than the drama version

If Gokusen 2 developed around manga chaarcters and not original characters, I think Shinkumi would have progressed. Because as someone mentioned, it did hint that drama Sawada Shin did like Yankumi. =) It's too bad though, since Gokusen 2 had such a similar plot to Gokusen... Gokusen 2 was sadly wasted.. okay well, it was a good chance from KT people (Kame & Jin) to shine and Yankumi to shine even brighter.

I still haven't gotten a chance to read the manga and watch the anime... I don't know, I'm really big on the art and graphical part of mangas/anime... so I've been debating about that. haha.

yeah, and they both were also attracted to each other...but I guess I just want more! I want Yankumi to fall in love with Shin too and they become a 'real' couple! I just want to see Yukie and Jun REALLY pair up! It's just so disappointing for me u know...oh wellz...I guess there's no point in getting mad over it now, at least they had a mutual attraction and Shin falls in love with Yankumi!

I guess, maybe the scriptwriters of the drama thought the original storyline was abit too complicated, I mean with the whole ShinKumi thing; the teacher-dating-her-student situation, that's considered a bad omen...and since there were so many things going on in the drama, adding the ShinKumi situation would've made the story even more complicated and it could've dragged the drama...that's probably the reason why they decided to leave the ShinKumi love out of the drama.

Yeah, but if they do make a continuation for part 1 with all the old 3-D class back, then it won't be called 'Gokusen', cuz the class obviously is not Yankumi's anymore...but maybe they can get just some of the ex students back, and get them to play supporting roles instead, while Yankumi teaches a new class. And Shin is a MUST HAVE character back! make something happen between him and Yankumi! I want them together!
But I wish they would write out Shinohara, I don't really like the guy very much

lol I think the only reason why you dislike him is because he was the one that Yankumi likes in the series, you are just upset that Yankumi chose him over Shin
Well, I quite like Shinohara, he has been a huge help to Yankumi and her students, he has defended them on several occasions, and has treated Yankumi very well...so I hope he doesn't get written off, he is a good character to keep

I love that "bakka" creation you posted up! It's very cute! I love those scenes! How Yankumi poked Shin's cheek after she patted him on the shoulder, and later in that same episode (I think it was the same ep, can't remember), Shin did the same to greet Yankumi, very cute!

I quite like Shinohara as well... he's not the best, but when compared to the other guy in Gokusen 2 that Yankumi falls for (forgot his name), I'd prefer Shinohara. Actually, if it's wasn't for Shinkumi... my vote for best couple would fall upon Shinohara and Yankumi.

ah, and i thought i was the only one who was so mad that they didn't get together. were they together in the manga and anime. hmmm, better check it out then. at least that's going to relieve some of my frustrations. what the heck, they were just so cute together.

yup, i haven't seen gokusen 2 but i wished they somehow continued with the original cast and progressed from there.

minilight1080: i also loved that line of shin during the last episode. so i was really kind of hoping for a continuation of their story. oh well, it's over and done with.

I love Shinkumi as well, but I haven't read the manga or watched the anime yet, so I don't know what the original storyline was like...but if they really became a couple like you said in the manga and anime, then I too wish that it was the same in the series, because I really love Shin and Yankumi together in the series even though they were never 'officially' together.

And like all of you here, if they ever release a part 3, I would much prefer they bring back Shin and make love blossom for them

The anime was more enjoyable for me than the manga though, but it's just me, I prefer to watch as oppose to read I've already passed halfway through the anime, I'm enjoying every minute of it (especially the ShinKumi parts )! while I'm still reading the first volume of the manga!
Watching the anime and drama and then comparing them, they're so different from each other, they've changed alot of things in the drama! and I know I keep saying this, and I'm sure u all have grown tired of hearing it by now but I just wish they would at least keep the original Shinkumi storyline! >.< I know I've said that so many times, but it just goes to show just how frustrated and annoyed I am at the scriptwriters for changing the Shinkumi storyline!

I've seen a couple episodes of the Gokusen anime and I really like it. It's a very clever show! And I love the main character Yankumi (?). She's strong, kind, and funny. Shin's also very cute in the anime. Which is more than I can say for the other characters. xD Why'd the artist have to draw them so ugly?

Anyway, I've been thinking about watching the live action Gokusen. I'm just waiting to finish other dramas like MG2, Devil Beside You, and Hana-Kimi. I'm watching too many dramas as it is already.

But I see the pics of the actors cast in the live action Gokusen and the girl really looks like Yankumi! The guy who plays Shin on the other hand...dissapointed me. I don't think he's cute enough. He's supposed to be...stunning. Maybe I'll change my mind once I see him in action...

I agree! There were alot more cuter scenes in the anime! Remember the part when Yankumi was kidnapped by some really bad guys and Shin went to save her? or whenever Yankumi fell and Shin is always the one who saves her? There was even a scene where Yankumi falls asleep on Shin's shoulder while he was carrying her! They even had fighting scenes (not necessarily physical) together! All of those scenes were really cute!

I guess maybe some scenes and ideas from the anime just proved to be too difficult or un-necessary to film/produce, eg. Yankumi's kidnap.

I read from Arashi.vox that there may be a Gokusen 3 coming up. It's still in the discussion stage though. Anyone has more accurate info on this??

aha and with the posts before, at first when everyone was fangirling over shin in the drama i was a bit 'wtf!?', i didn't think he was that good looking at all but by the end of the first few episodes he really does grow on you [though i think he was ultra kawaii in kimi wa petto]!

"There is currently no talk of Gokusen 3.... There has been reports that Nakama Yukie san is tired of filming Gokusen.... And other saying that she isn't getting paid enough so don't want to do it....

I think at the end of gokusen 2 Yankumi and Kyoto met on a beach on the way to their new school... So who knows.. they might do another one in the future... Rumours were flying that if they did do 3.. The actors would be the three boys who were in Kinpachi Sensei (Taiyou, Hikaru and Kota) "

Really? New actors for part 3? I hope not! Most people just want the old casts from part 1 back, particularly MatsuJun, because 'Gokusen' is just not the same without Sawada Shin! We all want love to happen for him and Yankumi!
And I don't think they're able to do a part 3 without Yukie, she is THE Yankumi! She's irreplaceable!
There are no talks of a part 3 at the moment, but maybe in the future there will...but unless they bring back the old casts of part 1 particularly Shin, otherwise they should just leave it, cuz I think many people would just boycott it altogether.

I don't know what happens in the manga, because I have not read it...but by the pic on the cover of YOU mag, seems like something might have happened between Shinkumi...maybe love finally blossomed for them? at least, in the manga...

I asked a friend, she said Shinkumi indeed ended up together in the manga! I wish that happened in the drama n anime!

I wish these scenes were included in the live action with Yukie and Matsujun, though. Oh man. The fangirl in me would have died, seriously. yeah I can't wait! But I'm buying te chi ver, which JUST released Book 14....&$^%ERDFJGG&^%$DF omg I wanna cry!!! I'm looking forward to them being together, but then...THAT'S IT!??? No more??!! Just 15 books!! I was hoping for more funny and rabu rabu moments! I remember laughing all the way as I read the books prior to my preliminary exams! While it was sometimes tiring to get through all 10 books for certain mangas, I didn't felt any weariness when I read Gokusen because it was soooo laugh out loud funny!

Why can't they have it like...at least 20 books or something..and I do wonder..how can they have Shinkumi together when in book 14, Yankumi's still so unaware of Shin's feelings for her? Yankumi accepted him that fast? I mean, it's obvious that Shin meant a lot to her..but for her to admit that her feelings for him exceeds that of teacher-student...just one book?!

The release of the much anticipated volume 15 is of course good news...but the VERY bad news is that, it is said that this volume will be the very LAST of Gokusen (manga) EVER! So after this, there will be NO MORE of the manga!
I also wish it would be longer...but I guess that's a wish that might never come true

Unfortunately it wasn't what I had expected, all those previous talks about Shin and Yankumi finally becoming a couple wasn't entirely true but Shin DID confess his feelings to her (finally!)

Gosh, I thought I'm just the only one shipping for this couple. The first time I watched Gokusen I already had this feeling that Shin might have a thing for Yankumi but I was just disappointed that the series ended and another one started and the relationship never got a headstart. I was so hoping that I can see them together. I even go so far as hoping that even in real life Jun will like Yukie because I think they look great together and she fits his description of a girl he could like. Is there really no news of another collaboration between Jun and Yukie???

lol...well, sorry to disappoint u but my friend was kinda wrong b4...ShinKumi didn't really end up 2gether in the manga...but he finally confessed to her though...i just read the last volume the other day...as it turned out, my friend was only trying to make me feel better oh wellz...at least Shin finally came clean about his feelings for Yankumi, at least that's a start...maybe they'll finally have a chance 2gether sometime in the future?
