First of all she's not even pretty, the only reason she won miss hk 1999 is there's nobody else that's pretty so they just chose her who is decent. Second, she can't act at all and TVB is promoting her and giving her lead roles without considering her for a supporting role. Third, she spends most of her time on-screen trying too hard to look cute, ewww....

I don't hate her to death, but I don't like her either. I can't believe she won Miss HK. She's not even that pretty. In my opinion, she's not even Miss HK/TVB material. At first I thought she was some Charmaine Sheh look a like. TVB is starting to promote her which irritates me.

omg, i can't stand her. she was ok in 'life begins at forty' because her role was extremely limited in that series. but now, she hosts jade starbiz, and i really think she needs some practice. she's always stuttering & resaying her lines ... its soooo annoying! it's like she's retarded or something. she can't even read cue cards?

hmm...I think she's pretty. She reminds me of Charmaine, but I don't hate Shirley as much as I hate Charmaine. Shirley's acting is definitely less than average...and she's so fake. Fake and sugary. I hate it when people are like that.

Shirley is pretty cute at some angles and pretty ugly at others... lolz.. her acting skills are very poor... i hate people who are acting like miss little cutie pies.....all her characters were to play little girls or innocent beings....(well, i do KINDA agree since she IS a shrimp and has a childish face).....but she needs to cut that kiddish personality, it can really make people throw up sometimes....being an actor actress needs to be flexible with their character in order to show their talents (i dunno if she has any, since she din get any training but just from miss HK)......just sticking with personality can just lead to a deadend in the career...i.e...we can't have a 30 year old "little girl", unless she's playing a retarded character......so yea, please improve on your acting, because your image now is not gonna last long.....

as for her place in miss HK, it's not true....there were other contestants who looked more decent and deserving than her to be placed as "queen"....guess those people were just not lucky enough to have the right economic support....:S.......because personally, she's too CUTE to be a queen, maybe for miss TEEN....but if you want to have someone to represent the whole area, please don't use a little girl, it will just reflect badly on HK people.........

Neutral towards her, but her acting is not terrible. As a newbie, she was good in Loving You especially playing different characters in so many scenarios... thought she was pretty good in Angels of Mission as well as Shine on You--was actually touched during that scene when she broke up w/ Micheal. Looks aside, at least the way she talks and her mannerisms are more elegant than Mandy Cho.

every series she has the same smile, voice and expression no matter what role she is in. i don't know how she won the most improved award last year. i think she is comparable to Michelle Yip in the degree of annoying ppl.

Shirley Is the cutest actress in the whole of the TVB circle...and i mean srzly if you think she is bad actor then this world has come to an end..Geez BTW she isnt in many series either, and when she is..she plays her role very gud.. like recent series "My Family"

I don't, something in Shirley makes me don't like her. I stopped watching My Family 'cause of Shirley... And she really can't act. Shirley's acting is better than a feew actresses, but there are lots of actresses who are better than her...

well...she's not that bad. really. there ARE some other actresses that are even worse. i mean, she can act, but only one type of character. which would be the cute, innocent, bubbly girl(ones like in AOM, MF, AR, etc). then again, it could be her personality, if it is, then it's not acting at all. but i like to watch her in those kinds of roles actually, there's not a lot of people that can act "cute" and not make it very annoying. but in her other characters, no...she doesnt really act well in them. and i find that her smiles for studio photos arent very natural either. it's more natural when she smiles on-screen while acting.

she sorta improved, but in a bad way. now watching her from Always Ready to The Biter Bitten she's doing the 'happy go lucky' kind and with all the exaggerations, but they don't work with her. She's too babyish looking and just bad to make it work. Her timing in those scenes aren't good b/c there are instances when she pauses and stops

I don't think Shirley's that bad... admittedly, I don't think that she's that pretty at all - she looks so childish and not to mention that her voice is childish too. she's not that great at acting, I've seen several of her series like Find the Light, Angels of Mission, My Family and The Bitter Bitten.. and in The Bitter Bitten, I don't think she's improved all that much from her earlier days. her singing isn't that bad though, judging from the themesong.

right now I'm neutral towards her.. at least she doesn't make me want to throw tomatoes at the screen whenever I see her... or at least not yet ^^
