I think she is a better actress than singer

Well that's obvious cuz she's an actress and not a singer...I'm surprised that this thread was even created, considering that she's not even a singer, so why pass a judgment about her singing?

Of course Barbie is a better actress...but I think her singing is pretty good, not bad...I thought she did great singing the themesong for 'Mars' with Vic...she and her sister Dee used to form a group called ASOS, I've heard some of their songs, and they're pretty good, then they left the music scene...it's been about a decade (or even longer) since they last sung professionally (excluding the time when Barbie sang the duet with Vic in 2004), and they're both still pretty good.

i'm not a fan of her but she acts better esp in MG and CWL right now. and a good singer,too. like her voice when she sang Rang Wo Ai Ni with Vic.

she hardly sings but i love her singing.....i think she should become a singer too .....too bad she didnt sing a duet with alan luo in 'corner with love', besides that, her acting is a 100% awsome..i love all the shows she's in

I've never heard her sing but at first I thought she sang the corner with love theme song.

She's not really a newbie actually...she and her sister used to form a group called ASOS, they had released 2 albums...but that was around 10 yrs ago! and they have not sung professionally ever since...because of that, some people consider Barbie to be a "newbie" in the singing department...but she isn't really...she has had experience in the past...what's amazing is that after so many yrs, her voice is still very good!

she only had a very small role in that movie...I heard she only appeared for a few minutes throughout the entire movie...u can try watching some of her other works, like her recent drama with Show Luo 'Corner with Love', she's excellent in that drama! her acting was very convincing!

Barbie actually started out as a singer, then she changed her paths and enjoyed acting more. so technically, she is a singer

I thought they ASOS released 5 albums or more, I might be wrong but I ll watch their interview with Zhang Xiao Yen again when I go home(I am abroad at the mometn...)
But I' m quite sure they did some singing, riding on the success of MG so it must have been like 3-4 years ago....
By the way I love both her singing and acting, but maybe acting a bit more since we now barely can hear her sing....

I know she used to be a singer, I mentioned that in my previous posts (if u bothered to read them lol)...but what I meant was that she is not a singer NOW, she and her sister left the music scene a long time ago, so she's not really a singer anymore.



I'm not sure about that...I think ASOS left the music scene long before MG...I heard the last album they released was about a decade ago, so that was LONG before MG.

She is a great actress. Although, she always say that she sound like a ghost when she sings, but then the last song she sang, which was with Vic "Let me Love you" sounded great. She is good at both, but i like acting a lil more

I quite remember them singing MG theme song in a concert video... I think the album was Abnormal girls ... dunt remember the title but it was released about the same time as Vic's Make a wish I think....

That's the album I was talking about, their last album...I'm not sure when it was released, I just heard from some people that it was released a decade ago...not sure if it's accurate...and I remember in an interview back in 2004, the sisters said they had not sung (professionally) for over 10 yrs.

I wish Barbie would sing again, she has a great voice! It's just sad that she thinks so low about her voice...and she has a phobia of recording studios.

i think she's a better actress than a singer but her voice is quite ok. as far as i can remember asos last album was released in the year 2001 entitled " Abnormal Girls". asos had released 8 albums, here's the picture

i think she's a much more talented actress than singer. she can take on different roles really well and make them convincing and believable.
i believe there are much better singers out there although she does have a nice voice

i think you're referring to their concert that was held here in the philippines either the concert with ken & vaness or vic & jerry. They sung the mg themseong "qing fei de yi".

I personally think that she is phenomenal as both, but in different capacities.
As an actress, she has more depth, whereas as a singer, she has a very free spirit which not only entertains, but allowed her to write some of the most enjoyable yet meaningful lyrics [ex: the one about sisters with their names in it. and yes, she did write it]

She is a female star that deserves my admiration.

u are right, that song was written by her, the lyrics truly was very touching...it's one of my fav songs! and the mv was good too!

Most DEFINITELY a better actress than a singer....I think she's all right as a singer, nothing special, and it's not like she has a really powerful or special voice, but I think she's a brilliant actress, plus she's really pretty. So I'd say, let her stick to what she's best at. Besides, she seems to think so too, because ever since her acting career took off, she hasn't made any attempt to REALLY get into singing again. Wise decision, in my opinion ^^

For me, Barbie is a better actress than she is a singer. I mean, don't get me wrong, she sang great for the Mars OST, but I like her acting better. She pulls off most of the characters she's acted plus, she makes me believe that she's that person when she's acting. I mean, considering the three dramas I've watched her acted in, I'm actually quite pleased with how she managed to make you forget the characters she's previously acted on. In short, she's very flexible and for me, definitely a credible actress.

She's definitely a better actress! I loved her in Mars with Vic <3 Her voice is nothing special... most of the time, it sounds flat and emotionless, just on-key... but I don't mind listening to her sing (I reckon Dee has a better voice). Barbie's singing reminds me of Ariel Lin's singing... just on-key, so you have to take the song for face-value. I know Ariel Lin isn't a singer, but she's an exceptional actress... therefore I think both of them should just stick to acting rather than singing a song here and there. Barbie is definitely acting material though, she portrays her characters very well =] I really don't like the common acting-singing crossovers... >_<

Even though Barbie's singing wouldn't cut it as being 'great'...but it's still quite good and exceptional...though I wouldn't suggest she start a singing career, but for her to sing a few songs from time to time is bearable.

As for Dee, if u have heard any of their old songs, her voice was actually very weak, compared to Barbie's which was quite high-pitched...B's voice was actually very good back in those yrs...but after they left the music scene, B stopped singing altogether, and had only just began singing again when she sang the duet with Vic, so her voice had gone weak by then, and she hates her voice...while Dee probably kept on practicing, hence her voice is improving.

I think she's a much better actress, but I do think that her singing skills are not bad, quite decent; her voice is quite flat, but still nice to listen to. Before she sang "Let me Love You" with Vic, she had not sang for 3 years since recording for her last album with her sister, but she still did well, her voice sounded better than I had initially anticipated actually.

I have heard some of the sisters' old songs, and noticed that Barbie's voice back then was very different to how it is now; her vocals used to sound naive and quite high-pitched, now it has become weaker and huskier, but also much deeper, which I prefer because it makes her sound a lot more maturer...but her voice was much stronger back then.

i never heard her singing only dee hsu .. but i think she is a good actress... and if i would hear her songs then i think she will do it well too ... her voice might be bit like that of her sister
