Wayne Lai's Views on New Generation of Fa Dan and Siu Sangs

Thinks Highly of Ron Ng

Mak Ling Ling: Out of the new generation of fa dan and siu sang, who do you 睇好?

Wayne: (seriously thinking for a long time) I think the newbies now are pitiful because they don't have directors helping them. Back then, when we first entered the business, there were a lot of directors willing to teach you. Now, the directors main purpose is to focus on filming. It is already good enough that the directors can handle the shots, let alone teach you.

Mak Ling Ling: How about Raymond Lam?

Wayne: Raymond is one of them. His natural born characteristics is not bad (I think he is referring to his looks) and he has 觀眾緣. (How about his acting?) Honestly speaking, his acting stills needs more training.

Mak Ling Ling: How about Tavia Yeung?

Wayne: Tavia is quite good. She is the most outstanding of all of them. I actually quite think highly of Kate Tsui. Kate has her own uniqueness and her individual personality is quite strong. An actor really needs a strong character.

Mak Ling Ling: How about Fala Chen?

Wayne: Fala is... We will have to see what road she takes because Fala's Chinese is not that good, just like Linda (Chung), too. In Chinese television, the understanding of the language and the culture really decides on how you will take on the role. This is a big matter. For example, Cantonese comedy and English comedy are really different. Cantonese has its own idiosyncrasies. If you don't understand it, you will never be able to grasp it. You have to first understand the language in order to understand the rhythm. This is very important in acting. It seems as though TVB is now very multi-national. Some are even from France, such as those like Stephen (Huyhn). Bernice (Liu) also does not know Chinese. For them, to use Chinese to act is more difficult and limits them.

Mak Ling Ling: What about guys? Whose acting ability is better?

Wayne: Actually I recently filmed with Ron (Ng) and I quite like him. I think the feeling he gives off when he is acting is quite good. Remove all of his bad press/news; don't talk about it. Well obviously he has to be more careful about this stuff because this industry does not just focus on acting itself. Things such as mannerisms and bad rumours can have a big influence. But, I feel he has acting potential. He has some particular characteristics; however, he has not learned how to articulate them yet. He gives the feeling that he is not serious, but it is not true. Sometimes acting requires experience--太乖乖仔 may not be able to act out certain roles.

Mak Ling Ling: You also take part in "Off Pedder," what do you think about Joyce's (Cheng) performance?

Wayne: She's too new. Give her time.

hmmm Wayne is great but can't say i agree with his views on the new actors. how can he think Kate Tsui is a good actress! thumbs down for Wayne for that comment.
Sarwaah
Artiste wishes you a Happy new year of the OX
Vivien.
Wayne is so under rated. I feel so bad for him. Finally he is getting better roles though, can't wait to watch The Greatness of a Hero. Wayne has some unique views on the newer generation. I agree with him that Tavia stands out the most but the rest of his comments were very unexpected. He thinks Kate has potential? I remember Bobby saying that too but I don't see it for some reason. And Ron? He somehow thinks Ron is better than Raymond? Lol, weird.

Wayne: [Mag] Deep in Thoughts

There are lots of overseas artistes that was popular around my time that audiences like. Those include Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman and Al Pacino. The eighties and nineties were a golden period for the filming industies. It's also the time when I just became a young artist. The three artistes above were very popular. All having their own style. But in their performances, you can find your own ways and style. Along with that, you can see the different thoughts they have.

"Rewatching "Scent of a Woman" let me think of an artistes who's deep in thoughts. He has qualities of an actor and can clearly let the audience understand his role. In "Scent" he acted as a blind man. His eyes can't have too many motions, so he would have other ideas to help him show what he's thinking of."

In his first series (as a teacher), when he was practicing with his assistant, his attitude was like a general and soldier's. He would ask questions, with a hint of regret. He brought the general feeling. After that, he would add, "dismiss" at the end. The whole character has come alive.

"When acting a role and you can't use your eyes (to show), you can only depend on other shortcuts. When your blind and talking to a young person, your expressions can't stop. You'll have to increase the motions with your neck and head. You'll have to slightly nod to show your listening."

During the process, he did not stop moving, showing that he is thinking. Of course, this is slightly different than the people who's blind. You can't just randomly use a random role.

Wayne Lai: A Variety of Expressions
Thursday April 23, 2009 Hong Kong
Credits: to http://wayne-lai.blogspot.com

How a character acts depends on the variety of expressions. Sometimes artistes focusses on what has happened like, something mysterious happens or some lame joke has been told, and neglected the inner side of the artiste. Some directors would call cut until the artistes act faster. Sometimes, the director would tell them to do it so quickly that the artistes don't even know what their saying. The audience would be confused. But the some artistes won't even care. They would start with "ha?" stop, and then continue. All you can hear was "yi yi ngo ngo" (mumbling), and they would still pass. But this again would leave the audiences confused, even bored.

The artiste, their skills and the type of series would have to match in order to create the best acting. In a sitcom, the pace is faster and there would be a variety of genres (or mood) because an artiste would have to bring out the main topic in 30 minutes. You can't be slow, but being too quick would cause the audience to miss the change of an artistes' inner side. Of course, the pace must match the role's personality so the effect would be excellent.

I've been filming "Off Pedder" and met some very experienced artistes. Momo has a variety of ways to express things. When everyone takes notice of how she delivers the lines, you can tell that she changed it in some ways. So that it wouldn't be so plain. For example, after a few lines, she would change the ending of one subject, however only to make it connect with the beginning of another. Her lines are meaningful.

What the artiste is thinking affects the lines. This is a human's language and thoughts. Only a line can show the artistes' characteristics.

Wayne Lai Confident in New Series ‘Rosy Business’

Numerous young female fans gathered to support Wayne Lai Yiu Cheung at the “Rosy Business” 《巾幗梟雄》Wayne said, "What a surprise!" He admitted that his fan base has broadened across different demographics. Both Wayne and co-star, Sheren Tang Shui Man are looking forward to the broadcast of “Rosy Business.”

Since the series will air following “King of Snookers,” which had low ratings, was Wayne concerned this will impact the ratings for “Rosy Business” as well? “No, Sheren has a strong audience following. Also, the audience nowadays know how to choose what to watch. If then did not watch one series, this does not mean they are not interesting in the next one. They will judge each series independently."

Sheren was not overly concerned about the ratings performance for “Rosy Business.” Regarding Wayne’s comment that she had a large audience following, Sheren laughed, “I think there is a large audience following for Producer Lee Tim Sing instead!"

Does Sheren hope that her character in “Rosy Business” will become even more popular than Yu Kei in “War and Beauty?” Sheren never considered the issue. When she filmed “War and Beauty,” she did not anticipate the resulting popularity of the character. She would only try her best and leave the rest to fate.

When asked about Ron’s voodoo rumors, Sheren laughed off the rumors as being ridiculous.

Jackie Chan's "Liberty" has been denounced by the public, even his driving safety promotion has been put off from broadcast and will possibly effect TVB's new series "Rosy Business" because his shampoo brand endorsement is also a merchant for "Rosy Business". Yesterday "Rosy Business" held its promotional event, the producer and male lead Wayne Lai are not worried that audience will boycott the series because of the incident with Jackie Chan.

Asked Wayne if he's worried that Jackie Chan's endorsement incident will affect viewership of his new series? He said that the series and the advertisements are not to be tied together for discussion. He believes that only a minority of the audiences will be that extreme to not watch the series because of this. It was said that because of the complaints, Jackie Chan's driving safety promotion has stopped broadcasting? Wayne laughed: "Besides Jackie Chan's shampoo ad, is there another ad too?" The producer of this series has not heard about any boycotting news, audience won't be like that, they just want to watch the series, won't be worrying about who sponsors what.

Sheren Tang will not do drugs because of stress

Towards Jill's drug possessing incident, there has been heavy discussions online about it. Sheren said that last year she filmed 4 series in one breath, causing her to have some pressures, sometimes she felt like she was about to explode. After filming "Rosy", there was a celebration party, she said that her emotions reached to a maximum level and suddenly cried as she drank some alcohol. She realized that there was a problem, so she tried to calm herself down. She said that when she has pressures, she will not do drugs to reduce the stress, when drinking alcohol, the most she would do is cry, she won't strip naked.

Wayne Lai leads a richer lifestyle since becoming a main lead

Wayne Lai started his career acting minor roles , due to his enthusiasm and hard work his acting skills received high praises. His popularity gradually increased and he was awarded best supporting actor in last year's TVB Anniversary. TVB decided to sign him up as one of their own "son's". He has since played lead roles for the series "Pages of Treasures"" and "Rosy Business."

Since becoming a main lead, it is said that TVB required him to change his image, from a normal mid aged man to a handsome man. He is ordered to only go to high class stores to maintain his "Siu Sang" image. The reporter discovered Wayne in Central buying clothes in brand stores and even in a high class supermarket. It appears that there is a big difference in Wayne's lifestyle. In the past Wayne's selling point has always been his acting talent rather than his image.

A source stated "Before TVB promoted Wayne, of course they didn't manage his lifestyle. But because the company is promoting him now and signed him up as their own "Son". They will certainly be mantaining his image. It is said the company wants him to focus more on his appearance. For example, to wear brand clothing and to go to high class supermarkets. That way he matches the "Siu Sang" image. We know that he didn't become rich overnight, but he must obey to his orders."

The reporter discovered Wayne in Central the other day and he looked very handsome. He went to the supermarket "City'super", brand stores Lane Crawford and Armani Exchange. When he discovered the reporter he immediately smiled and left. The reporter approached him and asked whether he was having a makeover? He only smiled and didn't respond. But when asked about the series "Rosy Business" he replied "This series has a lot of inner emotion scenes. I hope you will tune in to watch it." Although Wayne leads a richer lifestyle, he has not changed one bit, still the same person without an attitude.

Wayne Lai brings life to the role 'Chai Gao', Feels Good
Source: Ming Pao
Translated by: choccho@asianfanatics.net/forum

[How many 10 years does one have in a lifetime!]. This is “Chai Gao’s” favourite phrase in
[Rosy Business] and this is also Wayne’s life motto. 24 years in his acting career, he has filmed more than a hundred drama series, his acting talents has been recognized and the roles/characters given to him gets more and more challenging by the years. This has added much colourful elements in his life, of course he was overwhelmed with mixture of feelings, feeling great and at the same time miserable. There was such a time when he convinced himself (not to accept the role) however, after he kind of cools off, he continued on this journey liken to that of a roller-coastal ride.

So, who actually caused the stir in Wayne’s mixed feelings about the roles given to him? The answer is the producer Cheung Wa Biu (張華標). Wayned laughed and said : [Cheung gave me numerous challenging roles, and each time it gets tougher, for instance, [The Gentle Crackdown II] where he took on dual role with two different characters and followed by [Rosy Business], a low-class and not a likeable ‘Chai Gao’, as if this role is specially crafted out for me by Cheung.
The more challenging the role is, the more stressful it is

I feel the pressure of all the high expectations that people have on me. Wayne said : [I almost wanted to retire when I filmed [Gentle Crackdown II], and I told myself the role of ‘Chai Gao’ will be my last series. At most I will eat less!! My son is entering growing up, and I am an ordinary person. This is the struggles of an actor. When acting gets tough, I would think, what’s the point of going on? But when there is nothing left to do, I would feel life is meaningless after all.

Why has ‘Chai Gao’ caused Wayne’s so much misery? Recently, there have been an outburst of online discussions on the characters in [Rosy Business]. 'Chai Gao' has successfully broken the tradition of Male Leads having super-heroic and righteous characters. On the contrary, ‘Chai Gao’ is a mysterious person, selfish, petty, inferiority complex yet draws a very clear distinction of what is love and hatred and have only loved Sheren Teng all of his life.

Taking on the role as the 4th mistress, Sheren Teng’s role is also equally challenging, a slight inadequacy would have the rebounce effect on her role. Wayne has brought much life to ‘Chai Gao’ complex character. Wayne analyse that ‘Chai Gao’ is one who perceives that ‘character determines fate’. The portrayal of the complexites in this character is well-accepted by the audience. Wayne said ‘Chai Gao’ is his representative work in 24 years.

Praises Raymond, Ron and Bosco

Wayne was asked of his views about the what has been said of the current Siu Sangs not being able to take over from the veterans, Wayne thinks that that is due to the changes in the whole TV industry over the years.

Wayne said : [In the past, the directors and actors are required to undergo one year intense training classes, for example, Johnny To, will give proper guidance from the perspective of the actor. But the newer generation of artistes lack proper guidance and training. Consequently, they lack the skills yet there are no solutions to it, the most they could do is to hope for a talented artiste to come by]

Amongst the Siu-Sangs, he looks up to Raymond, Ron and Bosco. Raymond will be successful, he has what Andy Lau has, loved by the audience, half the battle is won. Bosco has his own personality and would be a character artiste. As for Ron, he has his base, with some talents, but have to see to what extent and how much hard work and effort his puts in.

Reaping the Rewards

Battling for over 24 years, he has finally reaped the rewards. He feels fortunate. [I am very thankful, for someone like me who does not like socializing much and still able to reap such good results, I will treasure every moment]. Wayne also feel blessed as he has a lovely son and wife, this is certainly ideal family. He also confessed that there were times where he had arguments with his wife but he realized that when a man and woman comes together, there must be a reason, that is to complement one another. Acting and maintaning a marriage are part of his life’s changing and learning process.

Sheren Tang Confident that 'Rosy Business' Finale Will Reach 40 Points

TVB’s “Rosy Business” 《巾幗梟雄》has continued to rise in ratings. The ratings for Monday, May 18th achieved 37 points. Last night, the main cast members treated the crew to a celebration dinner.

Wayne Lai Yiu Cheung once promised that he will treat the cast and crew to a separate dinner on his own. “The cast treated the crew for tonight’s dinner. Since everyone pitches in the same amount, there is no need for one person to fight to pay the entire bill. Everyone is happy. It is not important whether we treat or not. The most important thing is that we watch the final episode at the shopping mall together with the audience. The atmosphere will be very exciting!"

One tabloid magazine published photo stills from “Rosy Business,” pointing out the appearance of modern high-rise buildings in the background. Wayne said, "The stills showcase a different viewpoint. These buildings should not appear onscreen in the background. If they truly do, I hope everyone is understanding of the mistake."

Sheren Tang Shui Man suggested to TVB executive, Stephen Chan, to organize a dinner at a shopping mall. Sheren laughed, "Many thanks to the audience for vigorously discussing ‘Rosy Business.’ Thus it is our turn to do something in return. If it is possible, it would be great for the dinner proceeds to go to charity. To suit my character’s role in ‘Rosy Business,’ perhaps we can have a rice feast!"

Sheren was confident that the ratings for the finale of “Rosy Business” will rise beyond 40 points, proving the power of a strong cast. “In the future, actresses should not be afraid of filming before a high-definition camera. If own possesses strong acting skills, that would suffice."

Nancy Wu Ting Yan was happy she acted in “Rosy Business.” Nancy said, “Originally, Claire Yiu Ka Lei was cast in the role. However, she became pregnant and thus I took on the role.” Nancy was unconcerned that her role will peg her as an evil women in the audience’s mind.

"I have been chasing after the series, even when friends ask me out for dinner I will not go. I will go home as soon as I finish work to watch the series. The final episode of "Rosy Business" by Wayne Lai and Sheren Tang will be shown this Friday. In episode 20, Chai Kau (Wayne lai) and Bi Man (Pierre Ngo) were fighting face to face to the death. Chai Kau swore he would take revenge to Bi Man. Bo Kei warned Bi Man to stay in the house at all times to keep away from Chai Kau. However, Bi Man also wanted to kill Chai Kau as well. He made people believe that he had escaped to Shanghai; at the same time, he was carrying a gun and wore an armored vest to protect himself. He lured Chai Kau onto a boat, and when Chai Kau wanted to stab him with a knife, he shot Chai Kau. Chai Kau jumped overboard, with his bullet wound, he went to the church for help. Rosy Business becomes a Hot Topic, Sheren Tang: The ending is beautiful and perfect

Since "Laughing Gor", the ratings for "Rosy Business" have been rising and the series has also become a hot topic. Characters "Chai Gao" and "Sei Nai Nai" superb skills have attracted over 2.4 million viewers. The past times of staying at home to watch TV are back again. Sheren Tang is a TVB Fa Dan that has received recognition for her outstanding acting skills. Since "War and Beauty" and now "Rosy Business", her acting is very convincing. As for "Chai Gao" and "Sei Nai Nai's" ending, Sheren described it as quite sorrow but no regrets. II feel that it is the most perfect and beautiful ending. She believes that ratings for the final week will rise once again.

Sheren is very capable of playing the role of a tough and smart business woman. To be able to collaborate with talented actor Wayne Lai and a good cast. The high ratings are expected.
She said "When I first read the script I knew that this would be a very good series. Also I have always wanted to work with Producer Li Tim Shing and Wayne Lai. I was very happy before we even started shooting the series, the good response is a bonus. I have always admired Prodcuer Li Tim Shing, the series is not just to entertain everyone. But the natural disasters in the storyline are based from history. Let's just say I will ask him everything, if I am not sure of something I will ask. The whole cast were able to act their roles well as they felt comfortable, that's why we created so much sparks."

Sheren likes to watch Wayne Lai's Solo scenes in the studio

http://i42.tinypic.com/xfvvgy.jpg

Sheren and Wayne have been in the industry for 25 years. They have never collaborated together and you can see the great amount of sparks created by both of them in the series. Not to firget, talented actress Susan Tse playing the 1st wife and Ron Ng.

Sheren said "In the past I have always considered Wayne as someone that can act. Before shooting scenes we did not get into discussions about our characters. We were all relaxed. When we started shooting we got into character and gave it alll we could. I felt really good because everyone was using real feelings. Not exaggearrate but just seeing Wayne doing solo scenes daily in the studio made me want to give him applaud. I have to do my best too or it be a pity. As for Susan Tse I admire her talent. She can remember her lines very easily and not say one word incorrectly, no matter how long it is. I have more scenes with Ron Ng than Wayne and he is a very well behaved guy who is willing to accept feedback. His roile also suits him well.

"I really hope that audience could come together and come together to support the finale, create a peaking TV rating of 51 points! Surpass "Jewels in the Palace" highest record. Then Chai Gau's life would truly be perfect, no more regrets. In the next 10 or 20 years, everyone would still remember "Rosy Business" and its lead in TV Ratings."

More Fame, More Work

Wayne feels that "Rosy Business" has brought him a successful experience, writing a glorious life for him. "Maybe because I'm getting old, I don't have any big plans on how much money or work I want back for what I do. The most important thing in life is to be able to experience it! This time Chau Gau being so successful, so beautiful and perfect. It is a beautiful experience that I will never forget."

Of course, after becoming well known, benefits naturally come flowing. "I admit that ever since the reactions from the series was good, I had more job opportunities. Later I will do dubbing work for Disney, my son is also participating. We would be a father-son team. After that, I will be part of the "Laughing Gor Film" and some other endorsement activities."

Good Show, Likes it and Touched [WARNING: Contains Spoilers!]

Thinking back to the 25 episode "Rosy Business", there are many scenes where Wayne really likes and also feels very touched. "Like in episode 8 when Chai Gau was angry with 4th Wife not agreeing to promote him to be the 3rd leader, the goal of that scene was a crushed disappointment, showing Chau Gau's personality. The episode from the other night (Episode 23) where 4th Wife was at the restaurant, she simply said one phrase 'are you leaving yet?' , 'I want to sit here a little longer!' - the performance showed a strong relationship, which is the results from the Director's three sides of feeling, it gives off a great sense of satisfaction." Does Wayne look forward to another great script for his next series? Wayne said: "I don't know if there will be such blessing for another great combination, is it necessary for sequel, I also do not dare to say or maybe this is the end of a most beautiful life written. (No more targets or goals?) Continue to earn a living lor!"

There are Netizens who highly praised Wayne, the more they watched the more handsome he was, Wayne laughed: "Yes! I'm actually quite handsome. Luckily when I filmed "Rosy Business" I was losing weight too, therefore I look slightly better on camera, I'm quite happy to have these results."

As well as support from a large group of fans, Wayne and Sheren's family also attended the feast. TVB arranged 40 tables for the feast. 20 tables were setup for the cast and crew, 10 tables for the sponsors and 10 tables for the Society for Community Organization (SoCO). This included the elderly that lived alone and new immigrants. A spokesman for TVB stated that they were invited because they have something in common with the character Chai Gao which is battling all their life and working hard from a low class profile.

Although the endings of characters Chai Gao, Sei Nai Nai, Dai Nai Nai and Bit Man were revealed in news articles recently. This didn't affect the ratings. The average ratings for the series was 41 points and highest was 43 points. TVB executive Catherine Tsang revealed that there is a chance the cast will film a sequel. But whether it will be a modern or ancient series is yet to be decided. She also stated that Sheren has a high chance in receiving the TV Queen award this year. Sheren was very happy to hear the comment made by Catherine. She said if Catherine says she can then she can. She has confidence in receiving the award but since there are still many TVB series yet to be aired, she will take things lightly.

TVB's hit popular series "Rosy Business" broadcast is finale last night. Wayne Lai's role Chai Gau ends up dying of hemoptysis, but he has 4th Wife (Sheren Tang) running the rest of the path for him. The majority of the audience praised the good ending, they felt that Chau Gau's death was a beauty and his brief relationship with 4th Wife was romantic. Earlier Netizens created a memorial forum for Laughing Gor's honorary death, Netizens did the same thing for Chai Gau. It seems like Netizens really don't want him to go!

The remembrance forum is entitled: "We will always remember Chai Gau", the forum has Chai Gau's black and white photos, and a picture of incense sticks. Below the pictures, there was a caption that said: "It's you, that taught us to withstand the setbacks in life, need to be able to withstand life's mistakes in order to gain success. Chai Gau's life will definitely be deeply remembered in our hearts. Chai Gau, we will never forget you...." Don't Support A Sequel
Many Netizens have the same thought as Wayne and Sheren, they do not support a sequel to "Rosy Business". The Producer accepted an interview last night and felt that the original cast being in a series set in Modern times is not a good decision, but he can consider another series that has a similar style as "Rosy Business', but the characters and story will be entirely different, other cast members will also be included.

Wayne Lai has his fees increased, thanks to "Chai Kau"

Wayne Lai was filming a commercial for Wing On yesterday. His 12 years old son was there taking all the pictures for him. Reporters asked Wayne how come he didn't ask his son to appear in the commercial too? Wayne smiled "There is no need for that. I can do it on my own, but if other clients ask for that, I may think about it. In the mean time, my son is not interested to be on screen yet. He doesn't feel very comfortable in front of the camera, therefore, it is better to leave the commercial with me."

Wayne disclosed that recently, he and his son were working on the Disney animation dubbing together. He told reporter that father and son are working together already, but only with his son's approval. In fact, he won't object his son to chose whether he wants to work on screen or backstage in future. Wayne admitted that the role of "Chai Kau" in Rosy BUsiness has helped him getting a lot of job offers for the commercial, and his fee has gone up about 50%. Wayne added "My fee was very low before, I did get a lot of job offers, but I haven't had my fee increased for about 5 to 6 years."

Sheren Tang takes good care of Wayne Lai while he cooks

Sheren Tang, Wayne Lai and the rest of the "Rosy Business" cast, stormed into the "Beautiful Cooking" kitchens and had a huge cooking competition. 4th Wife Sheren Tang only spent the evening helping Chai Gau Wayne Lai wipe off his sweat, allowing Chai Gau to successfully become the "Man of the Kitchen". The one who has the best cooking skills is Kiki Sheung, she exposed that she often makes congee for her boyfriend and that next year she'll announce their declaration of love.

Sheren portrayed 4th Wife so well, but her cooking is not that great. The entire night, she only let Wayne perform cooking on his own, she was by his side to help him wipe off his sweat. Sheren was also playing "Ghost" (人鬼情未了) with him, the judge Ngok Wah shouted: "No Eyes See!" (In English). Wayne's great cooking performance lead to praises from the judges that he's a good man, Wayne said: "In the beginning stages of my marriage, I cooked for my wife before, when I was young I learned how to cook from my mom. I inherited her cooking skills."

Although Wayne's cooking is pretty good, but Kiki Sheung's cooking is even better, it was amazing. Kiki smiled and said: "I watched my mom cook a lot, it's quite simple. I am best at making congee. (Use your cooking skills to keep men?) The guy really likes me, no need to think of tactics. It's because I will be announcing my declaration of love soon, the fastest will be next spring. My boyfriend didn't propose to me, I place romantic as an importance, therefore proposal is definitely needed, make me drop a tear first." Sheren and Kiki were once rumored to have not got along, but last night the two smashed the rumors apart, it was Sheren who took the initative that the two were chatting and laughing together.

Last night the "cook from hell" was Kara Hui (Wai Ying Hung), she said in opposition: "Susan Tse and I were pretty okay, usually I am used to cooking alone, I'm not used to having someone next to me, Susan and I were shaking hands the whole night, trying to create a fun atmosphere."

Wayne Lai doesn't want to exchange his contract with "Best Actor" award

Wayne Lai and Louise Lee were in Mongkok yesterday, selling mooncake for charity for The Intellectually Disabled Education and Advocacy League . Wayne was busy doing three shows yesterday. He revealed that he has busy schedule and he has to go overseas too. This is all due to "Rosy Business" having good feedback. Wayne disclosed that the original cast will be doing another TV series of the same era as "Rosy Business".

Wayne was asked if he has confidence to win this year's "Best male actor " award in TVB's Anniversary Awards Ceremony. Wayne said he hopes so but if he has to exchange that with his contract, than he would rather not. The award means that people have accepted him and its his honor, even though the award is given to him in a small ceremony. There is no need for him to get the award through the back door or if there is a string attached. Wayne pointed out that earlier Miss Lok has contacted him about his contract, but he didn't agree with the term. Wayne said "I am a free man for a while now, if I have a manager, is she going to organize my work schedule? I would rather talk to the client directly myself, that way, we can communicate better." Wayne smiled and added he has to wait after the award ceremony and see as this is a very sensitive time and he doesn't want to create any more news.

Tavia Yeung considers Sheren Tang as the leading lady

"TV King" Wayne Lai dressed as "Chai Gau" when he was introducing "Rosy Business" in an activity last night. After that he swiftly changed into a suit to introduce "Off Pedder". Talking about Sheren not being there, Wayne said she is in America at the moment. They were doing a stage show in the US and Sheren decided to stay there a little longer. Wayne explained "Since Sheren is free and she has a lot of relatives over there, that is why she wants to stay there a bit longer. (Is she not happy?) Not at all, if she is in Hong Kong, she would come." Wayne also supports Sheren to get the best actress award, although Tavia is very good too; if he has to chose between the two, he would chose Sheren. Wayne said it would be a happy ending if both of them get the award. (But now, the rumor says Kenix is in the race, she may even wins the award.) Waynes smiled " No matter what, it would be nice if everyone gets an award. Gallen and Ray are very good actors, they all have the chance to win." Talking about Gallen doesn't know who "Chai Gau" was, Wayne responded "I am not surprised, he work overseas."

Wayne Lai doesn't want to trade his contract for a "TV King" award
Thursday October 29, 2009 Hong Kong

Wayne Lai's "Chai Gau" character is speculated to be the hot favorite to win this year's "TV King" award. It was reported since he still hasn't signed his contract with TVB, he is not TVB's "own son" yet, that speculation may change. Wayne had an interview by Char Siu Yan at the commercial radio yesterday. He said the tradition of one has to be TVB's own son to win the award has changed last year. If it is the requirement of someone has to be TVB's own son to win the award, that award is meaningless. It is not a good reflection to the artist and to the company. He doesn't believe that can happen. He has been organizing his own work schedule and he enjoys his freedom. He is happy with this arrangement. He is worried if he signed the contract with TVB, their good working relationship may change.

Wayne Lai desperate for an award, tells Moses Chan to not compete

Yesterday Wayne Lai attended a concert (小母牛做牛做馬音樂會). Towards the reports that said hot favorite TV Queen Sheren Tang found her true meaning and does not care about the awards. Wayne agrees with Sheren's view, he said: "To her, she really does not need to care about it, the most important is to earn money! She's already up to this level, getting an award is nothing much. Also she has faith, which makes her more invincible."

Wayne frankly said that he's currently very busy with his jobs, he has not had the time to catch the TVB anniversary series. He only saw some of <Beyond> and felt that Moses Chan is doing very well. He said: "Moses Chan's acting is quite unique, but he already got an award so don't need to bother with it. He already has an award sitting at home, his house is already too crowded. However, I still have plenty of room at my house. How about he make way for his 'junior' here."

Last year, TV King Ha Yu accepted a phone interview and strongly supported Wayne to become this year's TV King. He said: "This year the most notable is Wayne. Talking about strength, it's him. Before when he was playing supporting roles in TVB series, he was already really good, after leaving TVB for movies he also did very well. This year he finally encountered a good role, he deserves it!" Ha Yu felt that <Beyond> is dominated by women, they have a greater chance for a breakthrough then the men. He said: "Last year I was like Wayne (non-biological son of TVB), TVB is really fair on the big stage. Not having a contract is a factor, but his chances are still very high. Netizens greatly support Wayne, TVB will consider giving the award to him."
