He is personally my favorite singer in TW. But i have realised that his popularity has been decreasing in these few years. What's the reason?? some ppl say that his Black Tangerine and The Great Leap albums are not good as his previous albums....thats not true, both albums got freakin lots awards, especially "The Great Leap" getting "Album of the Year Award" from GMA's. Might the reasons be that he does't have the looks or he doesn't promote himself as much as Jay, Leehom and JJ Lin.....??? I mean his "The Great Leap" Album sold only 100,000 copies and but his "I'm OK" album sold 600,000 copies, even jay got 3 million copies( lol even rainie sold more) sold....this is just mad!! i dont get it!..

ps here are few polls

http://asianfanatics.net/forum/index.php?s...7&hl=leehom 'how did jay got best album? worst album fo those 4'

David Tao's music is the best..i totally support and i dunt think he's loosing to others..just because some ppl think that his recent albums are not good doesnt mean he's losing
zoelee
no need to care about those polls coz not every one participate in it so it doesn't actually suggest everyone opinion..

For David Tao fan's only care about his music & not his popularity.. he doesn't need to do much public stunts just to prove he's famous coz he's already the 'Best' in his career. He may be underated in that poll, but that's doesn't meant he losing to anyone...

IMO I luv his 'Black Tangerine' album the pose probably coz it's the 1st album I listen to him.. almost like my 1st love for his music so it's give pretty deep impression.. the rest is also great smile.gif I kept listening to 'Too Beautiful' everyday... his 'Soul Power' was the Best!

David Tao is more of a composer than a singer. He's a fabulous singer, but he's more known for composing great songs rather than singing great songs. I have to say that he isn't as well known nowadays because he doesn't promote himself, at least not as much as Lee Hom, Jay and JJ Lin do. But I'm sure he knows what he's doing and he's happy with it.

Don't worry about the silly polls because we all know that when Leehom and Jay fanatics go crazy on them and they're never an accurate reflection of talent OR popularity. To be honest though I don't particularly like any of the four big mandopop composers you mentioned as I tend to think that their compositions are too "light" and derivative for my liking. Nevertheless, I do think that out of the four, David Tao has the most talent and has been the most CONSISTENT with the quality of his songs. I get the impression that he's not as popular as Jay and Leehom, I'm not aware of whether he's more popular than JJ, but I feel like the reason why he isn't as popular as the others is 1) he doesn't put himself out there like the others and 2) unfortunately physical attributes is an issue here (and his age also). While I happen to think all four are on the same level when it comes to looks, the fanatical pre-teens and teens who constitute a LARGE percentage of an artist's fan group, tend to think differently and will factor looks into their decision to support or not support an artist.

i'm a huge fan of both Leehom and David Tao!!!
so i'm kinda lost at what to say here..

personally, i do think that David is huge in asia! just look at the charts, album sales, etc

and i've got friends who hate Leehom and Jay but nope, nobody i know hates David Tao.
and you can hardly find any David Tao hate-threads in forums.
not like Leehom... red_eyes, i remembered you for that. haha! =D

and LOL, i am one of those fanatical teens
and i go infatuated.gif whenever i see David Tao on TV.
but i like David because of his voice, talents, attitude, etc.
same goes for Leehom. clapping.gif
They're both great singers.

i guess david's music is more directed to adults, like adult contemporary. I suppose a large portion of records are bought by young teenagers, who associate more with jay, jolin n jj lin n whatever.
I think david would do better overseas, where there's a bigger market for REAL music.

I don't think music is a competition. Many artists, including David simply strive to make music that they are happy with, not necessarily what pleases the masses. They know that their fans will always support them and they do not necessarily strive to acquire a new fan base. Take Faye Wong, for example. Her goal is to make music that she is happy with, not commercial tunes that are lacking in depth.
