i wonder if she has anymore upcoming tvb series. haven't seen her for awhile, besides Dance of Passion. she is such a great actress and pretty, so happy to see her again in DOP. i wanna see more of her acting. wonder what she is doing now, since i hardly see her in series.

i'm so happy that she's coming to toronto...too bad there's no autograph session in toronto only in vancouver...o well, i will be at wonderland if anyone else in toronto is going.

Roger Kwok, Ada Choi, Halina Tam and Fiona Yuen had a whistlestop tour of several cities in Canada on a TVB promotional trip and as well as meeting the fans up close at their autograph events, they also performed three evening shows, where they played games with and sang for thousands of Canadian fans, thanking them for their support. In order to bring more fans closer to their idols, the organisers had arranged for them to visit Toronto, Calgary and Vancouver in a very fast paced tour, but the warmth and welcome from the fans left them all very touched and gave them the spirit to stay lively throughout the tour.

As Halina celebrates her birthday in September, the organisers had prepared a huge birthday cake for her. The several hundred fans at the show sung "Happy Birthday" to her in a heartwarming occasion. This warmth from the fans made them work even harder to please in the evening shows as Ada emerged to open proceedings, singing Kelly Chen's "Fa Fa Yu Jau" (Paisley Universe) and Miriam Yeung's song "Ho Sik Ngo Si Sui Ping Jor" (Shame I am an Aquarian), but despite not being a natural singer, she carried off the performance with her sweet voice. The other three artistes also joined to offer their songs, leaving the fans very satisfied. Afterwards, they welcomed some members of the audience onto the stage to play some games and sing together as Roger often lapsed into his 'Ah Wong' character and causing many laughs.

Ada Choi, Anne Heung, Shirley Yeung, Bernice Liu, Leanne Li and Joyce Koi donned some beautiful ancient costumes as they filmed a TVB sales presentation clip for "Exquisite Beauty" yesterday. They were joined by nearly forty extras who played their maids in a very grand display. Playing the role of Wang Hsi-Feng, Ada led the ladies in their procession and displayed the power of a leader with each movement.

Afterwards, Ada laughs that in real life she is actually very pure and innocnet and is not full of aggression. With this being the first time that most of the cast members had worked together and she was regarded as a 'senior', she laughs: "No, don't say that. We are all around the same age and you can say I am a predecessor in the Miss Hong Kong contest, but in age terms, I might even be younger than them. However, I am very happy to film this clip because we all got on straight away."

During filming, Bernice was able to cry on cue and this is because she has had plenty of crying scenes in her latest series "Murder City Plot". She says: "Almost every day I have to cry and it makes me like a crybaby. (Would you like to work with Ada?) Of course!" Anne loves filming ancient series because they are more dramatic: "When you wear the ancient costume, then then it is easier to get into character. Although I know Ada very well, we have never worked together, but I think working with her will be very pleasant."

Shirley was very pleased with her ancient look for the shoot and was snapping away with her camera together with the other cast. She says she likes Ada a lot and hopes to work with her: "Ada has a different character in each role she takes and changes a lot. I would like to work with her and learn from her. However, playing the villain is not easy at all and I did this in 'Operation Breakthrough' earlier. Just understanding the character was very difficult and I ended up breaking out in spots because of the stress." She says that she has been to see the Western doctor and although it has improved, the medication makes her skin very dry, so she is considering trying a Chinese herbalist instead.

Shirley has put on a little weight because she has been eating a lot lately, despite working every day. She says: "I eat five meals a day now - breakfast, lunch, afternoon tea, dinner and supper. I don't know if it is because I am filming an ancient series so it is not as obvious but I have to be careful."

Wow an other ancient serie with Ada! I can't waiiiiiit! Ada is so beautiful in ancient costume, I hope it will be a good serie.

Wang Hsi Feng (Phoenix) is a chracter of the famouse novel Hong Lou Meng - The dream in the red mansion?? It 's great i like this character, i'm happy that Ada has the role.
But TVB focuse more on Wang Hsi Feng in this serie. In the novel the main character are Jia Bo Yu and Lin Tai Yu. But I hate Tai Yu, she gets on my nerve!

ada choi's very pretty. i simply adore her. her acting skills are great in many shows, especially the 4 armed reaction shows.

i like ada but i wish she would act in more modern series rather than the older age like dop. I like her in healing hands, something in more recent times. I saw her on beautiful cooking, too. She was wonderful and I like her nickname, pineapple fun. Justin and Leo was like marry me after they ate her food. They were so cute and she looked so pretty.

She doesn't need much promotion from TVB anymore, she's somewhat reached the peak of her career. Ada, like many of the other TVB actress have gone into mainland China or other countries to pursue her acting career to the next level.

I don't think TVB can afford to pay Ada the amount she wants as well, just like many of the other fa-dans in TVB.

Ada Choi Siu Fun and Maggie Shiu Mei Kei became good friends after filming "Dance of Passion." Earlier in the week, Ada and Maggie were in Taiwan promoting for the series. Both Ada and Maggie's ex-boyfriends are actors in the entertainment industry. During the interview, the topic of sex came up and Ada and Maggie had vastly different approaches to the subject.

Ada had formerly dated Nicky Wu Kei Lung. As a Christian, Ada said that she will try to avoid having sex before marriage. Since becoming a Christian, Ada's beliefs have changed dramatically and will often bring up her faith in discussions.

Filming Jewel's Spendor Will Cause Cast to Lost Millions in Endorsements

TVB will begin filming for its 80-episode blockbuster production "Jewel's Splendour" in January next year and filming will last around nine months. With many of the cast of "The Dance of Passion" reunited in the longest drama production since "At the Threshold of an Era" in 1999, but unable to take on endorsement and promotional work during filming, the stars stand to sacrifice a lot to appear in this production. The series will be produced by TVB veteran Chik Kei Yi and the cast include Bowie Lam, Moses Chan, Gigi Lai, Ada Choi, Maggie Siu, Kenny Wong, Bosco Wong and Linda Chung.

With their schedules fully booked up by the series in the nine months of filming, the stars will not have time to make extra money, so the financial sacrifice is quite substantial. Gigi Lai says: "I think I will be sacrificing a seven figure sum, but there is nothing I can do! To take on a great project is something you cannot let go of and to wear jewellery worth tens of millions is high pressure! To have to wear it and run around in it is quite scary." She thinks that she will have to take it all off every time she goes to the toilet for security reasons.

The show will be centred around the jewellery industry and sponsorships of several sets of $10 million jewellery have been secured. As this will be a grand production for TVB next year, it has attracted a number of large jewellery companies to sponsor production. During filming, there will be heightened security and there will be an unusual level of commotion for a TV series.

Ada Choi says that she will be giving up a lot for producer Chik. She says: "To film this series, I have turned down a lot of opportunities to make money in the mainland and it is a great sacrifice, but for Chik, I can't count it like this."

As for Bowie, he says that the reason he took on this project is because he remembers his roots and even if he makes less money, he still has to repay his debt to TVB: "For a series with a nine month filming plan, there is a big chance that this will be extended to a whole year and for me, of course this is a great sacrifice. When people approach me with jobs now, I have to tell them I am fully booked for 2007. However, TVB is my spiritual home and I remember my roles, so making money can be put aside and I will not count this." Moses is overjoyed at the opportunity to take part in yet another large scale production and says that he has been filming non-stop for the last two years, so he is confident he can handle this 80-episode series.

Career Emerged from Tears

In many people's hearts, Ada is their Best Actress. After taking part in Miss Hong Kong at the age of 17, she quickly rose to a leading lady and her career seemed to be plain sailing, but behind the initial success, there were tears and at one stage, her self-confidence was rock bottom.

H: You entered the industry through Miss Hong Kong 1991, did you ever think about leaving after the contest (and not entering showbiz)?

A: No, taking part in Miss Hong Kong was my childhood dream and from an early age, I had wanted to enter showbiz. My family had waited for the day I could enter this industry, so in Form 3 at school, I had already entered a Super Model contest and even before I had graduated from form 5, I had entered the contest. However, I was not thankful then and my life was full of tears. Not knowing how to act or how to host, when I hosted EYT, I even read people's names wrong, so I felt really useless.

H: Hosting on EYT was already a good position.

A: Having a good position was the worst thing because I felt that I did not deserve to do this because I had lazy pronunication and at the time, there was a character in a series called 'Lik Hang' and I kept calling him 'Lik Hen' and it was only after filming the very last episode that I realised I had been pronouncing it incorrectly, but I was totally oblivious to the problem, so don't you think this was a major issue? In the end, I learned to read the bible and correct my lazy pronunciation.

Filming Debut was Full of Reprimands

H: You worked with Aaron (Kwok) during your first series, did you think you would make a name for yourself through this?

A: At the time, as long as I didn't mess up, then it was okay, because I was already pretty bad at hosting and I thought that if I can't even get this series right, then I would be dead. In the series, it tells of how Aaron has a secret crush on me and there was a lot of pressure. I remember that in the first scene, I had to memorise four pages of lines and complete it in one take, but when I remembered my lines, I would forget my expressions and as it was a night scene, we also had to adjust for lighting as well, so for a newcomer, it was not easy and I was scolded all the time by the directors. I felt that I was really useless and did not know how I would establish myself afterwards.

Crying Silently Behind Others

H: Did you ever cry about this? Did you think about giving up?

A: I would never cry in front of other people, but when I got home and the emotions gathered, then I would cry non-stop. However, I never thought about giving u, because I had no other road I could take and as I was interested in acting, the company was giving me a lot of opportunities. I did not take a vacation from 1992 to 1995 and even before finishing one series, I had another one starting. On this marathon filming run, I gradually learned how to compromise with the camera and during this time, I became happier.

H: After so many years, which role is the most memorable? Which role is the most like your own personality?

A: The most memorable was Chiu Yuk [Dance of Passion]. When I act, I will think through how to do it when I receive the script, but producer Chik (Kei Yi) told me to forget about everything beforehand and think from scratch about how Chiu Yuk is. This role is completed different from my normal self and often I would carry off the whole scene, so it was very hard work and I had to pray every time I went into the studio. As for the most similar role, it was in "Armed Reacion IV" because the character is very tomboyish and was very direct about doing things. How she dealt with her romances was particular resemblant.

Finding New Life through the Love of Religion

After the days without God in her life, this made Ada cherish everything she has even more and she will always be smiling. Since becoming a Christian, she has a happy and thankful heart and understands the meaning of life.

H: Many people know that you are a Christian, have you had any periods where you felt you could not see God?

A: I put God aside in 1995 and at the time, my career was going very well and I even filmed movies with Stephen Chow and Jet Li, but then I had nothing to do and in 9 months, no-one offered me any work. Coupled with the poor relationship I had with my family, I felt very helpless. At the time, I had no friends and was overly self-protecting, so I was very false and would not put my heart into friendships and did know know what point there was to life. In 1996, I returned to the church and began to realise my problems, I found love there and also met a lot of friends. I brought God into my work and I changed entirely.

H: Christians usually feel very humble, have you ever lost out on any opportunities because of your faith? When I first started in the industry, people told me to offer incense and join in the photo to increase press coverage, but I felt I would rather have less publicity. I would joke with them and say: "If I carried a cross, then there would be even more pictures of me."

A: I turned down some films because of God or when I was out spreading the gospel, but I believe that God has His arrangements for me. I remember in 1998, a TV station offered me a job and the pay was very good, but because I had to film a ghost story, I decided to stay at TVB and film for "Secret of the Heart", then I received a female lead award for this series, so I was very thankful.

Searching for Love & Chan Siu Sang

After many years in the industry, Ada's most recognised boyfriend in the past was Nicky Wu, but now he has married his new girlfriend recently, whilst Ada is still searching and waiting for her real life 'Chan Siu Sang' to appear.

H: You are now the dream lover of many people, were you the target for dates when you were at high school?

A: No, I was not the school beauty when I was at school and no-one really dated me. At the time it was really crazy and I felt that the boys who would like me were not good boys because if they liked me, they would be the ones who would go for anything. So I really hated them. The people who are courting me now though, of course they have good taste! Haha!

H: You have dated people from within the industry, did you split because of the pressure caused by gossip?

A: There were a lot of problems then, but the one that caused the split was a personal one. I think about 20% was down to the gossip, when the magazines would say one day that you were a perfect match and then the next they would say that your background isn't strong enough. As a result, I will not reveal any future relationships again, but I do not mind dating men from within the industry.

H: In so many TV series, which male character would be your perfect partner?

A: "Armed Reactions" Chan Siu Sang. I like active men, who know how to play with me and make me happy. I am very scared of boyfriends who are too serious or who are always preaching to me.

H: Have you thought about when you will get married?

A: In the past, I thought that you had to have a lot of money to get married, but now I feel that if you have love, then that is enough. The most important thing is to be able to communicate and if I find this person, then I will marry him.

Epilogue: Just Believe

Inviting Ada to this interview, you can feel her directness and also her deep belief in her foundations of faith. She says that she is not too worried about the future, because God has laid a path for her... thank you for her making us aware that if you just believe, then you will possess.

"Jewel's Splendor" Press Conference
TVB's 80-episode grand production "Jewel's Splendor" held its costume fitting and press conference yesterday, attended by stars including Ada Choi, Gigi Lai, Maggie Shiu, Bowie Lam, Moses Chan, Wong He, Bosco Wong and Linda Chung among the cast that numbers around 50 people. Executives Stephen Chan, Virginia Lok and Catherine Tsang were also present. As the story revolves around diamonds, the producers have called in sponsorships of the jewellery in the show that totals nearly $50 million, weighing in at a massive 423.5 carats. At the event, Ada, Gigi and Maggie all modelled jewellery worth over $10 million each. Gigi was the most eyecatching as she had also been sponsored with a fiery red deep-V Valentino dress that showed off her best Love Goddess assets. For security purposes, the sponsors had also provided six or seven guards to protect the jewellery and TVB's own security team were also on hand to keep the peace, sending four guards into the studio to keep watch. This show will include location filming in Qingdao, Beijing, Shanghai, Thailand and London as well as the diamond minds in South Africa.

Gigi, Ada and Maggie will be playing three sisters in the show, slightly reflective of the renowned Song sisters from the past. They all portrayed very elegant images and each wore a set of jewellery that consisted of a necklace, earrings, rings and bracelet. Gigi's set was the most expensive, worth $13 million and was emphasised by her designer dress, showing the recognition given to her by TVB. She says: "The dress was arranged with the sponsors by the company and I only realised how sexy it was when it arrived this morning. With it being low cut and seethrough, this is the sexiest I have been in recent years. (You are the sexiest one here?) It has surpassed my usual limits, so after the photographs, I have to put on a jacket. (Are you worried about exposing yourself?) Very, so I have put a little tape on it. (You are stealing the show?) Don't say that, everyone else is looking stunning." As well as being sponsored a number of outfits for the show, she will also be receiving handbag sponsorship for the series, so she does not need to use her own personal items. As for the show being filmed in High Definition, she will have to keep her appearance on top form, so she says she has a lot of sponsors for beauty products to keep her looking ravishing and attractive. Asked if she is laying the road for the Best Actress award in 2008, she says she has not thought about this award and she is just going to enjoy her work day-by-day.

Ada's jewels for the day were worth $11.2 million and she says she felt very stunned and the 9 carat diamond on her hand was the size of an eyeball, but her black tube dress was a little disappointing. She says that the costumes were arranged by the company and as for Gigi stealing the show, Ada says: "I have a good figure, so whatever I wear will look good and this dress helps to show the splendour of the jewellery! The most important thing is that the three sisters all look gracious and elegant, like three large diamonds." In the show she plays a character who loves being in the limelight and is very vain and she ends up marrying Elliot Yue. Although there is a large difference in their age, she feels she can portray this so that it is convincing. In real life, does she have to marry a rich man? She says that love is all about being true and you cannot say that rich men are without love, but she just wants someone who is ambitious and cherishes her, that would already be perfect.

The jewellery for Maggie was worth $11.5 million and this is the first time she has worn such expensive jewellery, so she laughs that she is wearing an apartment on her body. She felt a mixture of happiness and fear, but she rarely buys herself diamonds because other people will buy them for her. She says: "One of my aunts managed to lose her entire diamond bracelet when she was playing Mah Jong. Fortunately she managed to find it. I don't really wear diamonds much myself." Asked if she was worried about being overshadowed by Gigi, she says: "Everyone has their own characters, she (Gigi) is very beautiful today."

With the focus on the millions of dollars worth of diamonds worn by the ladies, the male cast members such as Moses, Bowie, Bosco and Ah He were very much left in the background. Bosco wore a 2 carat diamond earring, but this was far overshadowed.

Recently there have been reports that Bosco was the third choice to sing the theme song to popular Korean series "My Girl" after Raymond Lam and Kenneth Ma. He denies this and says that they all went to try out for it that day and in the end they selected him. There have also been suggestions that record company BMA are no longer signing TVB artistes after the the 'problems' experienced with Ron Ng. Does Bosco feel that Ron has ruined things for him? He does not feel that this is the case and he does not think that Ron has a lot of issues. He has left his singing career to the company to organise for him and he is in no rush, because he has a lot of other work arranged.

As for the other recent news about his ex-girlfriend Carisa Yan signing to be a cosmetic surgery spokesperson, Bosco says: "I don't know. (Did you know that she had breast enhancements then?) I did not notice. (Do you mind people having implants?) I'm not sure. (Do you like big breasts?) Average, a balanced figure." As for often being asked about his ex-girlfriend, does he feel really bad? He says that it is only normal to be asked. Is he worried that his current girlfriend will be jealous? He immediately says: "I don't have a girlfriend now."

Moses also has his ears pierced, but he did not wear any diamonds like Bosco did. He jokes: "I am already a diamond (bachelor), just uncut." Talking of his rumoured girlfriend winning an award at Jade Solid Gold but then being criticised heavily, he smiles: "You are treading dangerously! (Your good friend is accused of being a fix?) Bernice was very happy to win the award and she sang and danced very well. A lot of people see her hard work and with awards, there will be those who are happy and those who are disappointed, but she really did do well and to win was a great encouragement. I will be happy for her. (Have you comforted her?) I have just returned from the mainland, so I have not seen her."

Bowie and Ah He have been rumoured to have fallen out whilst filming for "Homeland Beauty" ealrier, so with them appearing together for the first time yesterday, the press asked why they were standing apart from each other and not greeting one another. Bowie explained that they had said hello on the stage and he even passed him a script. Bowie says: "Ah He and I are okay, the animoscity is just gossip and I should have posed for a photo with him on the stage. (Would you feel awkward?) No, we should take the chance to clear things up." As for Ah He, he left as soon as the press conference had ended, but he also said that there is nothing between him and Bowie and all the falling out was made up by the press and did not come from him, so he does not feel awkward. He says: "When we had our morning meeting, I greeted him. (Are you worried that there will be more rumours of animoscity during filming?) Even if there are, they won't be from me."

Ada and Gigi Cry Wolf on Set of Jewels Splendor
Ada Choi and Gigi Lai were filming in Happy Valley yesterday for TVB series "Jewels Splendor" and Ada was driving an open top sports car in a scene with Gigi in the passenger seat. Producer Chik Kei Yi was on hand to watch over proceedings. After speeding off, Ada reported to the crew on her two-way radio that she had bumped into another car in the street, causing the crew to become very nervous. When the found that this was a trick by the girls, they were forced to buy everyone a drink. When Ada and Gigi found out that the crew had fallen for it, they clapped their hands in excitement.

Ada smiles: "The car is not one of our own, but my head and my body is my own. The producer appears every now and then, there is no pressure from him and he trusts me a lot because I am known as 'Racer Choi'. I have even taken part in the Jackie Chan Cup, but I don't have much time to race any more. (Did everyone believe you then?) This is even better, now you have a story!"

yah, I really wanted to know when it will release. It seems like that ATV is taking forever to release that series. Does anyone know if it will be in Mandarin or Cantonese. I know that the theme song is sang by Dave Wong and it's in Mandarin so most likely, I think it will be in Mandarin but it's release by ATV and ATV is in cantonese so it's kind of confusing me. Please, if anyone know, please tell us. Thanl You!!!
