Dayo Wong, Ada Choi and Belinda Hamnett were among the cast members at the studio blessing ceremony for "Stand Up Sleuth" yesterday. As the show is sponsored by a snack food company, the main stars were all given a basket of snack foods and Dayo laughed that he will be madly eating snack foods every day, his favourite is preserved plum.

Talking of the 'brush with SARS' experienced by some of his TVB news colleagues, Dayo says that he was the last to hear about it. He remembers that last year when he was doing some stand-up, it was the height of the SARS epidemic, but he did not realise the seriousness of it all until he was asked by a reporter if he would be handing out masks to his audience and he had to rush and buy thousands of masks to hand out. He laughs: "At the time, everyone in the audience was wearing a mask and it was quite a historical occasion, but I hope not to be faced with this scene again." He also praises his supportive audience, saying: "They were so great, so frightened and yet still coming to support me and having to smell their own breath when they laughed."

As for the series, Dayo laughs that he is following in the tradition of "War of Genders" and is proud of finishing work early and so every day is a race against time. He says: "One night, we were originally to finish at 3am, but we were ready to go by 2:45. Whereas the team in the next studio were supposed to finish at 2:00 am and were still filming when we left."

With the SARS scare, there has been a major disinfectant programme at TVB City as the nerves of the workers are heightened. However, Ada was totally oblivious and when she was asked about this, she says: "I am very shocked, I hope they are okay and SARS will not return. Don't eat wild game! The heavens have already given us so much lovely food and the raccoons are so beautiful. (Do you feel this is the consequences of humankind's actions?) Many humans bear their own consequences, but for the sake of the next generation, we should do our best to be a good example for our children." When asked if she needed to go to Guangzhou for work in the near future, Ada says she is currently busy filming, so even if she needs to go to make an ad, it will be in three or four months time. She also says: "Actually things in life are very hard to predict, the most important thing is to keep a healthy body and wear a mask in any situation. People are aware of this hygiene procedure now and will wear a mask if they are unwell."

Although there is a need to keep healthy, she feels that Hong Kong people are too busy and even if there is no problem with the environment, the psychological pressure is still there. What methods does she have to relieve stress? She smiles: "I have recently bought a four and a half month puppy, but every time I take her for a walk, we have a race and I also have to clean up after her, so it has increased my pressure! However, I will not be lonely because it feels like someone is waiting for me to return home every day.

I actually saw Ada once before. She was in New York CIty for a church thing and she came with a bunch of people. Too bad i did not have a camera at the time, otherwise i would have gotten a picture of her..

After finishing filming for "Stand-up Sleuth" yesterday, Ada Choi will have a break for a few days ands he plans to go on a trip and as she is prepared for a drop in lucky money this year, she has announced to everyone: "I told all my family and friends that I have had a son and that they should prepare some red packets for my son!"

It turns out that the 'son' Ada is talking about is her new puppy 'Mer Mer'. She adds: "Although my godson (Catherine Hung's son) pulls it around like a remote control car, I will still take it to go and see my godson and will give my godson a lucky packet." She then complains that her good friend never gives her lucky packets: "Take Catherine Hung and Flora Chan for instance, they will not give me any lucky packets, saying that we are the same generation.... so annoying!"

As for a new year wish, Ada hopes that everyone's wishes come true and prays for: "SARS not to come back and a fruitful love affair one day for her and her dog, because one day whilst we were out, it jumped onto anotehr dog. It seems that it has needs too, so I will look for a girlfriend for him."

Good buddies and partners from TVB's new series "Stand-up Sleuth" - Dayo Wong and Ada Choi offer their wishes to readers for the year of the monkey and hope that everyone is healthy and all your wishes come true. Dayo's new year wish is for an extra scene in the show where he can kiss Ada and he will not give up until he gets it.

Ada reveals that Dayo wants to kiss her so much because he wants reveng on her for an arrow. She laughs: "He says that in the past I didn't film kiss scenes and when we were filming a movie together, I still wouldn't kiss him. Then he saw me do a film with Simon Yam where I did a kiss scene and this made him mad, so he is forcing the producer into giving him a scene where he can kiss me."

Ada Choi and Dayo Wong were filming in Central yesterday for 'Stand up Sleuth' and they attracted the gaze of many tourists who even crowded around Ada making comments and leaving her a little embarrassed. Yesterday's scene involved Ada chasing Dayo and scolding him and walking down towards the Landmark. As they NG'ed many times and the lines were long and emotional, after the filming, Ada felt a little faint. During filming, many people gathered around to watch and some of the crowd were new year tourists who couldn't stop staring at Ada. When asked if she felt that they were annoying, Ada laughed: "Not annoying, but I felt a little embarrassed because some people started tugging at me and pushing me. They were quite close and I was worried that someone would want to try and kiss me, if they did that I don't know if I should reward them with a slap! I am most afraid when they grab hold of your arm."

Ada's slimming company sponsors earlier employed Anita Mui in their adverts and after Anita's death, a mysterious CD-ROM has emerged suggesting there were financial conflicts between them. In response to this, Ada says that she has not read the related reports and not seen the contents of the CD, so she will not comment. She has worked with the company for four or five years now and has just recently renewed her contract. They work under the terms of the contract and there have been no other matters to deal with so she is comfortable working with them. She says that she has known the boss for a while now and find her quite nice, intelligent and honourable.

Dayo had three days off for the new year period, how did he spend them? He reveals that he spent two days visiting and one day sleeping, so he did not waste the time. Yesterday was the third day back at work for Dayo after the new year and it turns out that he has not been to Central for five or six years, so returning this time, he is rather moved, because in the past, he did not have enough money to go to Central all the time, now that his financial situation is okay, he has no time. Talking of the crowds for yesterday's filming, Dayo says that he will not find it hard to get into character, but being watched by several hundred pairs of eyes does give him a rather strange feeling. 'Stand-up Sleuth' will finish filming at the end of February, and Dayo reveals he has not yet planned his next piece of work, so he will take a break first.

Ada Choi has been shooting some advertising stills for a Guangzhou casualwear company, but as she is currently filming for "Stand-up Sleuth", it has been hard work slotting the day's work into her schedule. When asked about whether the fee was worth her rush, she smiles: "Of course it isn't bad! As this is my first advertisement of 2004, then a good fee is a start, because I have also taken on other jobs for advertisements, including skincare, shampoo and fashion."

When asked about her trip, she says: "On that day, I had to go into Guangzhou late at night, then the next day we were shooting from very early before having to rush back to Hong Kong in the evening for filming. I didn't even have time to go for dinner with my sponsors. However I am very happy with the ads this time and as well as my uncle doing my hair for me, the sponsors have put a lot of money into it, so it was worth the hard work."

Also, Ada's series "Armed Reaction IV" will be airing in Mid-February and Ada is quite excited about this: "This time we have Frankie Lam and Yoyo Mung, who have a four-party love affair with me and Bobby and create some sparks. I believe that this has made the show stronger and more gelled. (Do you have high hopes for the ratings?) I daren't think about it really, as long as I have worked hard, that is all that matters, but I feel this show was OK and it should do better than the last series."

However I was a little frightened by the sounds of 'Wah!' coming from the audience. Being sexy is not a problem, but it mustn't be gratuitous."

Recently there have been rumours that Lawrence Ng has been sacked from "Healing Hands III", but Ada supported her partner, saying: "What are you talking about? It is not been confirmed so I don't need to comment. As Lawrence's friend, then of course I will support him." Ada Choi has been filming on the mainland recently and because she has been working closely with Chinese actor Zhang Jin, they have fallen in love and began to date. The two are openly appearing together and their relationship is already an open secret. Zhang Jin acted as Zhang Ziyi's stunt double in blockbuster movie "Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon".

Ada has been filming for Mainland series "Shui Yuet Dung Tin" and after spending so much time with Zhang Jin, they have been seen by together both on and off the screen as the crew are all aware that they are secretly dating and the hotel staff often see them together alone. Earlier, on Ada's 30th birthday, Zhang openly arranged a celebration for her and others left them alone together tactfully. Zhang looks after Ada closely and knows that she is quite lonely in a strange place so when they do not have to work, he will be by her side, so it if only natural that they have developed feelings for each other.

The coincidence is that the producer of "Shui" Zhou Ping had previously brought together Nicky Wu and the Taiwanese female lead who he eventually left Ada for, but has brought Ada together with another man in this production. When the reporters asked producer Zhou if he was giving Ada back her man, he laughed: "I have not returned her a boyfriend, she found him herself, I just created the opportunity." When the reporters tried to contact Ada, she was still in Suzhou and will be returning to Hong Kong soon.

Zhang is a year younger than Ada and took up martial arts at the age of 9, joining the Sichuan martial arts troupe at the age of 11 before moving to Hong Kong and joining the Yuen Gar troupe of stunt doubles. "Star of Brightness" Ada Choi took part in an event for a Children's charity yesterday to raise money to educate the children living in China's mountainous regions and started the show by donating an autographed teddy bear for the auction. With a starting bid of $300, it was won by an 8-year old girl who paid $500 for it. Two years ago, Ada sponsored nearly a hundred children in China and Ethiopia and feels that there are so many people in the world that need a helping hand, so if she has the chance, she would like to go to the mountains and visit the children. The audience also made a $30 donation to have their photos taken with Ada, with some children digging into their lucky packet money.

Ada was working yesterday for "Stand-up Sleuth" in the morning and after attending the event in the afternoon, she has to rush back to filming again. Afterwards, Ada will be filming Gospel film "Match Made in Heaven" that covers the moving love story of SARS victim Dr Tse Yuen Man and starring alongside Tse Kwan Ho. When it was mentioned that religious films never make as much money as the commercial movies, Ada emphasises that this film is not just for Christians to enjoy and she will be giving her best performance for it and is not worried about takings. She also says that when recording the soundtrack, she was so touched that she was crying and she feels that the audience will feel the same way.

Also with Cecilia Cheung's high profile publicity of her Christian faith recently, but then continuing to smoke afterwards and causing people to question her commitment, Ada still supported her even though she does not know Cecilia. Ada says that people should not see Christians as Saints because they will still fall ill and have to see doctors, taking herself as an example, it has been a while since her conversion, but she still has a bad temper and she feels that the most important thing is in the heart. Ada also says: "Cecilia is just a recent convert, how do you want her to be? Give her a little freedom to get to know God. We are all learning to believe in the Lord and no-one has the right to criticise anyone else."

TVB series "Armed Reaction IV" will be airing after "Vigilante in the Mask" next week and a group of cast members including Ada Choi, Bobby Au-Yeung, Joyce Tang, Marco Ngai and Yoyo Mung assembled at a War Game centre in Tai Po for a promotional event. However, a traffic accident meant that most of them were delayed by an hour and a half and poor Yoyo who arrived early had to wait for everyone to arrive. For Yoyo, this is her first appearance in the AR series and appearing in camouflage gear coupled with high heels at the event, she caused a few laughs. How was she going to go out and fight? Yoyo explains that she didn't realise that they really had to go and play the game and her own hygiene habits mean that she will not wear other people's shoes without wearing socks. As a result she didn't want to win, because that would mean she would have to carry on fighting. Bobby couldn't stop laughing at her appearance and ended up being chased by Yoyo as they stirred up the atmosphere.

Playful Bobby then moved his target from Yoyo to Marco Ngai, landing him a kick as was sprawled on the floor aiming at a target and then later when Marco was posing for a photo, he poured water over his 'privates', causing Marco to be rather annoyed and rather amused at the same time.

As each series of this show has had good ratings, having once broken the 40 points mark, Bobby was asked if he had high hopes for the show, Bobby replied cheekily saying he was totally confident. Although many shows have not had very good results, he is not worried about it affecting him: "Ratings follow the people and not the trends." Is he aiming this statement at Deric Wan? Bobby immediately turned his statement around and laughed that with Deric being so good, his ratings will be great as well. So how many ratings points is he hoping for? "Hoping for the twenties, forties would be good, but with everyone else in the twenties, then high twenties would be good and if it passes thirty, I want a pay rise." Bobby was recovering from a cold yesterday, so his voice was rather hoarse as he says: "With two shows one after another, I think it is time for some rest. I hope that the new series I am filming in April is a mute, so it will let me rest!"

Marco Ngai was among those caught in the traffic and when he arrived, he reveals: "There was a multiple car crash in front and we were stuck in a jam for over an hour and I was so desperate that I had to get out of my car to have a pee!"

Ada Choi also arrived late and thinking that she was the last to arrive, she was very nervous to begin with and apologised to everyone. Later when she found out that the jam was due to a traffic accident, she relaxed a little. When asked how she would be spending Valentines Day this Saturday, Ada says that if she isn't spending it with the cast of AR4, then she will be with the cast of "Stand-up Sleuth" because she has been busy with the work for these two shows lately. She even seemed to get the date wrong, thinking that Valentines Day was in July and then saying: "TVB has already arranged a lot of Valentines for me, such as Michael Tong and Dayo Wong." Later she found out that she had got the date for Valentines Day (14th Feb) and the Chinese Ghost Festival (14th July) mixed up.

Dayo Wong and Ada Choi were filming for new series "Stand-up Sleuth" in a wedding scene yesterday and in the warmer weather, Ada wore a strappy wedding dress and was luckily not feeling the cold and shivering. HOwever, her attractive appearance was of no benefit to Dayo, because the usual kissing scene is missing from this show.



There will be two endings to "Stand-up" and Dayo admits he doesn't know if they will end up successfully taking the wedding photo in the finale as this will depend on the reaction from the audience when the show is aired. However, he laughs that the scene will be without the usual kissing scenes because of Ada's religious reasons for avoiding these scenes and Dayo's hygiene reasons for not wanting to chew another persons lips.


Dayo reveals that previously when they were working together on a movie, Ada had already refused to kiss him on the grounds of her faith: "Then a month later, she was kissing Simon Yam... we don't have any kiss scenes in this show either, so we'll just say that she owes me a kiss. When the time is right, she can repay me, it would be even better if she repays me with money instead. How much? Ten thousand dollars!" At this time, Ada is telling Dayo to shut up and points out that the reason why she didn't kiss him then was because her character was a lesbian and also because she was embarrassed, not because of him. Ada also praises him, saying that he is good-natured, not perverted, no bad breath and good looking and if they get to work again, she will kiss him because there is no way she will replace it with money. Ada says that she is a 'rough bride', but although she is always wearing wedding dresses for her work, she is still full of fantasy about her own wedding.


Dayo says that he stayed at home on Valentines day watching video discs because his girlfriend does not like going to places with a lot of people, so they will stay at home for any festivals.

dew: i haven't seen AR IV yet but what do you think of it? hehe yea i heard that the ending is really confusing. there might be an AR 5 but nobody's sure yet. the tvb producers were obviously wanting to make one because they made the ending to AR IV so... weird. haha. but i dunno, i don't really want another AR series... i think theyre going overboard. or maybe its juz me, i dunno.

Ada Choi and Tse Kwan Ho were at a promotional event for their film "A Match Made in Heaven" and Ada had donated a toy to raise money for needy kids. Ada says she won the toy at a fairground in America and she has been sleeping with it for the last four years so she will miss it but feels it is worth it for a good cause."

Ada Choi and Lam Chi Mei were promoting their new gospel film and the director could not stop praising how well Ada played the part of SARS heroine Dr Tse Yuen Man and expresses a hope to see her in the running for next year's Hong Kong Film Awards. Ada was quite excited by this, but smiled: "I only hoped to play the role to the best of my ability because I wanted the audience to be able to share the selfless love behind this story. When I was filming I couldn't hold back the tears, but the director was even more emotional and he was still crying when all the cast had stopped."

Despite being unwell, Ada Choi still took part in a voluntary tree planting day event yesterday and although the actual ceremony was only a short time, it was still quite a trek for her to reach the venue and this was quite gallant of her. Afterwards, Ada says: "When I was heading up the hill, I was coughing quite seriously, but maybe I got used to it and I am used to walking, so it was okay soon afterwards." Ada is quite concerned about the level of pollution in Hong Kong and hopes that the environmental events can raise the awareness in the citizens.

With the recent news of the return of SARS making people quite edgy, Ada says: "I have been to see the doctor and I do not have a fever, so it should not be SARS! (Will you go and work on the Mainland?) I will be filming with Lawrence Ng in Shanghai next month, when SARS struck last year, I was also in the Mainland, so I feel these things cannot be prevented. As long as you maintain your personal hygiene and wear a mask, then it shouldn't be too much of a problem."

Ada & Jess are such good friends =) Glad to hear that Ada's new movie is doing so well.



Ada Choi's movie "The Miracle Box" has reached box office takings of $5 million after the Easter holiday period and yesterday a special seminar was held as Ada's good friends Moses Chan and Jessica Hsuan attended to show their support. Ada said candidly that she was very happy with the good results, so she wanted to share with the audience all the good feelings that she had whilst making the film and despite nursing a cold, she was still insistent on attending.

At the moment Ada is taking as much time as she can to rest because in May she will be heading into Shanghai for some filming. As for the SARS scares, she says she is not worried and feels that as long as she is careful to get back to good health and boost up her immune system then she will be fine. Of course she will need to ensure she keeps up her personal hygiene.

Jessica is also resting at the moment so she had the time to attend and support her good friend. She reveals that she will begin filming with TVB again in August and after being admitted into hospital twice last year from constant filming, having to endure 24 bottles of IV drip, she feels that her health is the most important thing so she has turned down two series from TVB and a Mainland company. She says: "Originally there was a Mainland series that I had to film with Roger Kwok, but the boss was very good and waited until the very last minute for me, but when I couldn't do it, he asked Michelle Ye instead." When asked why she was not with her boyfriend, she says that her boyfriend is a very low profile person, so he will not appear in such public events. Also, there have been reports that Moses's fee is cheap and so he has been taken on as ambassador for PCCW in place of Steven Ma. Moses says that he takes little notice of these reports, especially as he knows Steven very well and they will not discuss these things as they both understand each other.

there's been some rumors going around lately.. about that taped phone conversation with Michelle Reis (Lee Kar Yan) and how she said that Ada was sleeping around with this guy to get major TV roles and stuff.. =| and then osme other people said stuff that she had an expensive 18th birthday party blah blah blah.. grrr.. i'm just glad that nobody posted anything bad in here! Ada doesn't deserve it.. the past should be forgotten =] what matters is that shes a great actress!
