S.H.E's "shi li" (a pun on the pronunciation of strength/capability and the fact that it's their tenth album) is showcased yet again! PLAY will be released in the middle of May.
2.5 million dollars later, the filming of the first hit song 中國話/zhong guo hua/'china talk' has completed.
S.H.E have also trained hard for their tongue-twisting rap also to be featured!
After completing their Perfect 3 concert at the end of last year, they have started preparing for their new album. After months of secret preparation, S.H.E will now release their tenth album in May 2007! The new album will be entitled "PLAY", as to why S.H.E explained "Our tenth album is a very important album in our entire singing career! In this period of time we have tried out lots of new things!" In order to film the MV of the hit single zhong guo hua, HIM budgeted over 2.5 million and over 100 workers to go to Jiancheng, which has a rich cultural history.
The director Ma Yizhong specially invited Shaolin masters and dancers from all over the world to dance with S.H.E, singing along the melody which melds both Eastern and Western cultures. The content of the song is to describe how the world is experiencing China-fever. Currently, at least 30 million non-Chinese are learning how to speak the language, and some Western countries are also introducing Chinese as a compulsory second language. Ella revealed "This song is really very Chinese-flavoured! The content is really something very fresh for us." Selina also expressed "Actually this song has both Eastern and bubblegum pop flavours in it. The 'in' thing nowadays is to do tongue-twisters, but actually the Chinese have started rapping much earlier! The tongue-twisters of yesteryear seem to be alike!" Hebe revealed "As the album is called 'PLAY', we want to get high and engrossed in the music! This is the first time we make a tongue-twister into a rap, and we hope this will be a new trend in future! But this tongue-twister is really torturous; we practised until our tongue almost tied itself! But now we are formidable! We welcome any challengers!"
They worked together with the monks and their dance teacher, and they were totally amazed by the martial art skills the monks displayed! Ella said "When we danced halfway, I took a glance at one of the monk who was curling up on the ground, and I thought that he had a heat stroke! In the end I saw that they had soft bones and were very flexible, and I was totally amazed!" However, the other two didn't notice it, so after the filming they requested a 'battle' with the monks, to see their real skills! They again displayed their talent, and Hebe screamed "Oh my god! When the monks say 'bend' they really do it! Their bones are really flexible! They can bend until they don't have the shape of humans at all! It's really amazing!" Ella also shouted "We also have our own talent! But it is in music..."
Before setting off to Shanghai, they specially queried about the climatic situation there so that they know what to pack. When they knew that the temperature was going to be between 7 and 23 degrees Celsius, Selina brought her fur coat and socks, but on the filming day, the temperature reached up to 25 degrees, and they had no choice but to eat ice! The workers also had to open umbrellas to block the sun for them, and Selina proclaimed "It's okay, at least the weather's good! The people will look very beautiful! And I'm wearing bare-backs and short pants, so it's quite cooling too!"
Seizing the opportunity, S.H.E also went to Wuzhen's various scenic locations and took a lot of photos for memory! They also tried canoeing. Ella, as the 'tour guide', introduced "Actually the western part of Wuzhen is made up of over ten islands, which is interlinked through the use of bridges. Like the place we're staying, we must board this traditional boat where the boatman has to slowly row until we reach our destination!" Selina expressed, as if she had just discovered a new China, "The boats here are an important form of transport! But I realise the boats at the coast are actually KTV rooms! It's amazing! If I have the time I should try singing and jumping on the boat, maybe I'll get seasick!"
