Kate Tsui graduated from the University of California, Davis with a major in Japanese.[citation needed] She is also skilled in different styles of dancing such as Salsa and ballet.[citation needed] Tsui could speak several languages.[citation needed] During college, she studied abroad in Japan.[citation needed]

After her studies in Japan, she entered the Miss Hong Kong 2004 pageant. She was considered a dark horse at first but then gained fame when she bagged the Fitness award.[citation needed] After that she took the winner's crown and Miss Photogenic and Miss International Goodwill. She is one of the many 4 award titleholders of Miss Hong Kong. The titleholder with the most awards is Shirley Yeung.

After participating in TVB events and hosting some shows[citation needed], she entered the Miss Chinese International 2005 pageant. Despite being a favorite for the crown, she only placed in the top 5, taking an award as a consolation.[citation needed]

Not long after being crowned as Miss Hong Kong 2004, Kate Tsui started to become romantically linked to singer Leon Lai as she starts to interview him in the entertainment show "Jade Starbiz."[citation needed]

Kate is now pursuing a career as an artist in TVB.[citation needed]

In 2006, Kate was heavily criticized by the public for speaking of sex openly on an RTHK radio show held in Hong Kong.[citation needed] Such overt talk of sex shocked the public and was considered as impairing the well-established fame of Miss Hong Kong Pageant.[citation needed] Kate publicly apologized with a TVB official by her side as support.

OK... Maybe she's a new actress that's why I don't think she's very good... I think that she's a STONE on screen...

For the look, she's cute on some angle...

For personality, I don't know... Didn't hear enough news on the girl to judge her...

Her good points is that she actually is really photogenic i think ..
you can also see she puts some effort in her acting, shes tryinh so its a good thing ..

but shes actually still a newcomer and not ready for any big roles yet .. like Price of Greed , she was not ready for that role ..
i think her role in TBOL was even better actually .. i did saw some real emotions so i thought she improved ..

I don't like this girl, she's not pretty in my oponion but she is fresh faced and is better than elaine yiu and she looks prfessional and polished but i think she needs to work on her acting skills

why is it she's always puckering up her lips when she talks? in series she's always move her mouth exaggeratingly..especially the upper lip, and she's always swallows really hard before she speaks...notice it in both Price of greed and Brink
of law. Swallow hard (tucking in her neck in the process), and jut out both lips than talk. Most annoying. But she's pretty decent otherwise, not a real beauty but not ugly either.

i dun think ltosa ppl are giving her credit..evne though im not a fan of her..w/ the lead roles she's gettin in tvb series now..i think she's slowly improving..slowly though..but like lotsa of miss hk winners..they have to take time to develop..i just think she needs that time. but one thing i dun like about her acting is that when she cries..its jsut fake..no emoitons at all..but everythign else..i think its okies for a newbie

I thought she was soo pretty when she won Miss HK. But then after awhile when I started seeing her acting on TVB, she really started to annoy the f*ck outta me. And now I think she looks Soooooo Average. Not even close to being pretty. She can't act. I remember in the BOL when her brother died and she 'bursted into tears' on Ron's shoulder;; that was super fake. It took me a few seconds to realise she was crying cz it looked so much like she was laughing.

Well, she's still new so I can't criticize her really badly on her bad acting so I'll just comment on her looks. If it's really natural, then she doesn't look pretty AT ALL. Not even cute. If she's had plastic surgery, the surgeon sucks.

I don't hate nor like her but her actings been improving a bit. Not a lot though because you can tell she kind of acts the same in Brink Of Law and La Femme Desperado at some points or scenes.

SHE ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I dont know why TVB decided to promote her in the first place. Her acting skills really annoys me as well as her crying.

I currently really don't like her, none of my friends do. I don't see why TVB is promoting her and giving her the main leads when really, she can't act as good, not yet anyway. I think in Price of Greed and The Brink of Law, TVB should have replaced Kate's role with Shirley, they should switch roles. Nothing special about her acting. TVB keeps promoting her just because she won Miss HK which pissed me off. I think TVB should give her the supporting roles first then slowly the main roles. I might begin to like her in the future if she gets better.

I have to say that I think shes really pretty and cute, and shes trying really hard in acting and she is improving significantly. Also, you guys should've seen her dance with Bosco Wong-->Rap Dance. It's on youtube, so go check it out. Anyway overall, shes good... and looking foward to see her in her upcoming dramas.

I don't think she really photogentic and there is something wrong with her eyes, why it is look like it got pull back. To me it look like she have her eyes done. She seem like a smart girl, why try to persuit as in actress? She can famous for somethin else?! I don't think any of the role fits her. Why TVB try to put some newbie on screen play the leading lady? They have some serious brain damage.

I decided to give her a chance when i watched some of her acting in dramas but i'm sorry, it sucked WAY too much. =(

If you guys watched OTFB, she was pretty yucky in there. Those camera shots on her face just make her look even uglier.

the first time i watch her was in price of greed, she was an unfamilliar face then. didn't really liked her, thought of giving her a chance, but ltr on when i watch brink of law i decided that she carn really act, i wun completely brush her off as being lousy, maybe she needs more time. i think sucessful newbies would be nancy and selina, dun bash me before u watch their latest productions, they have shown improvements, but not neccesary -good- yet.

I have nothing against her. Her acting is seriously bad though. It's absolutely monotonous. I don't remember which series it was, but I recalled wanting to shut the tv.

I think Kate has potential as an actress. I don't find her as horrible as Mandy Cho when she was a newcomer, and yet I don't find her too annoying like Linda. She needs to be more natural and gain more chemistry with her co-stars and noticed the way she talks/say things sometimes, but I think she can improve and be a good actress one day.

Though her characters may not be liken by the audience, I think she did a decent job in Price of Greed and Brink of Law. Kate has onscreen presence as leading lady material for ancient series, but I can't really say for modern series.

I don't hate her as much as i used to. I actually think she's extremely brave to take on her role in OTFB. I don't think many actresses would be willing to cut their hair short and be a full tomboy throughout the whole series. I give her credit for that.

As for her acting skills, I understand why everyone would say it's bad. It appears that she overacts and has an annoying voice, but i think she totally brings out the character of Ah Jing in OTFB. She's loud, active, unfemanine, stubborn, dopey, etc. Her acting is also pretty funny in most scenes~

I feel so bad for her because OTFB made her physical appearance look pretty bad. She's definately not the prettiest of all Miss HK's, but from what i remeber, she WAS the prettiest one out of all the other contestants. To those people calling her "ugly", seriously, get a mirror. Ugly is a strong word. Maybe Kate isn't the prettiest but she is definately not ugly.

Before watching The Brink of Law, I always read that people were attacking her about her performance in LFD and TPOG (Price of Greed). Deep inside, I felt that we should all give her a chance and that she has room for improvement.

After watching Brink of Law, I realized how crappy she is. Literally, her and Ron RUINED TBOL. LITERALLY, THEY RUINED THE BRINK OF LAW, WHICH IS SUCH A GOOD SERIES. The ratings plummeted like a stone sinking in a pond.
For all I care, Kate can go die. She is leading in so many series, its almost frightening. Wait, IT IS FRIGHTENING. She stuck out like a sore thumb in TBOL, and Ron stuck like a sore pinky. God. I'll stop bashing Ron and go back to Kate. After so many series, her acting is still just as bad. If she becomes one of them 'fa dans', I refuse to watch any TVB series with her (even with my Sammul, I'm that determined)

TVB seems to way way WAY WAY WAY WAY overpromote her. She was leading over Shirley and Bernice in The Brink of Law. Like, it's good that you are giving chances, but instead of learning how to walk then run, she is learning how to fly a jet. =.=

In conclusion, I used to defend her, but now I am the greatest Kate-hater out there.

I don't really like her that much. Her acting is very stiff, but I commend her efforts. I'm starting to be okay with her in OTFB, but her character is really annoying at the beginning. My mom said she was pretty. Well, I didn't agree. But I realized it was a different kind of pretty, uh ancient pretty? lol Kate has nice features, like nice skin, nice lips (eh?), nice nose, etc. But somehow, by today's standards, put together, she doesn't look so nice (to me at least). I guess she's a photogenic, close-up beauty. Sort of like what your elders consider pretty. Am I making sense?

Iv only seen her in la femme desparado. she was ok there. cnt say much yet gona watch a few series. there was a time where she was not very pretty and made me think wot shes a miss HK? but now she is a bit prettier when she was performng on the mIss HK show this year with rAymond.

I have a mixed feeling on her. In La Femme Desperado I thought she did a pretty good job and in Price of Greed I thought her acting improved a lot. But then in Brink of Law her performance was not that good and in On the First Beat it was horrible, so i don't know what to say. Right now I'm 50/50, but I can see that she is working hard.

Kate Tsui ar...Pretty in MISS HONGKONG and Sexy when she danced with Raymond in the recent MHK...but in term of acting, sorry to say tat she really cant act....she over-act especially in On The First Beat...
