I am curious about how Edision stood out from the crowd to become so famous and popular.
To me the pathway to sucess is always a difficult one, the more the success the more the hardship. Ofcourse there's should also be an attribute of cunningness.

Even though I am someone who doesn't really follow 'the trend' or who is the most popular idol of the time, he has intrigued my interest. And you being someone who knows more about the Edision, especially the fans out there, I would like to extend this question to you.

About the hardships and problems Edison endured, his decisions and his actions on his pathway to becoming a star. As well as your views and oppinions ofcourse.

lol, edison chen entered the music industry after starring in a ad with eason chan (i think) because apparently the hong kong girls were falling in love with him because of his cuteness. and in his earlier days in the industry, i think he mainly survived because of his looks and because he was part of music plus (eeg).

i guess he used music plus as a stepping stone because as soon has hit success with his movies and became well known, he ditched the company. which i think was i good thing because he began to introduce more of his personality to his work.

i'm sure having a rich dad didn't hurt either lol but he deserves his success now though. when he first arrived with that silly soppy i love you song i was like " oh look another cutsie hk singer how original" but he's changed and has managed to successfully input some of his own creativity into his work. im not really a fan of his music but i like the fact that he helped break the mould of the same old soppy songs that are so popular with hk singers.

i also like the fact that his cantonese is not that fluent. big up to all overseas born chinese for making it in hk

i remember seeing that movie and really liking him after... because he was quite hot~ and so did thousands of other girls
then he became a singer... with a few hit songs.... did commercials etc...

then after a while..i realise that hes quite "retarded"... like the way he acts
he has a nice face...but he cannot sing/act/dance/talk/walk properly

That's quite an insight dee-lush, so he got to the top partly because of his cuteness?
Isn't there alot of other actors on ads really cute too? What attribute makes him cuter than them?

GoldenPig, yeap lols, having a rich dad sure is nice. I give him credit for breaking the mould of the old soppy hk music. I guess that is one of the other significant factors that attributed to his success.

I'm hoping the same thing cause I feel bad for the poor guy. But he admits he can't sing, which seems like he's not trying. But lets hope his next album is at least decent.


And I remember seeing him for the first time at Tung Wah in 2001, I believe, and the girls were crazy about him, screaming at the top of their lungs for him. He definitely made it because of his face.

hmm. i guess he got popular cause of his dad, somehow. also, thanks to his high-profile dating life, with lots of popular hk stars, like gillian rumors, etc.

Haha, see... this is where you're wrong. There is a lots of hunky celebrity out there, but Edison was one of the hottest to many girls. (this is base on pure observation). I mean, everytime I mention Edison Chen, girls just swoon over that name. Hell, I was obsess with him purely for his face.
I mean, other than Daniel Wu, Nicholas Tse and Kenny Kwan, I really can't think of anyone in HK that can be compare to Edison look.
