There was a long period of time when I didn't actually dislike QQ. I tried to be fair, give her a chance... wound up thinking she was over-rated, but not THAT bad.
And then last week's Power Sunday happened.
I'd never really watched QiaoQiao in a variety show before. It was my first time... she came on the show with Wilber Pan.
(
Here is part one... you can find the rest by checking the user's videos.)
She whined nearly the entire time. "This house is too big! It's too hot! This is so unfair!"
She also didn't find anything except for a headband with a bow made out of seaweed. "Ewww! This is so disgusting!" she said when she found it.
They credited her with finding one of the children, hidden in a suitcase, but... if you watch closely, Wilber actually found it first... seemed more like he was hinting to QiaoQiao where it was/trying to let her find it.
At one point, she sat down on the bed and said, "I was thinking... if we lose, I'm not the one who has to give out the $60,000 NTD... that's the production team. And then, I don't have an MV or a CD, so that doesn't affect me, either. None of this has anything to do with me... so it doesn't matter what I do. So I don't care."
I found this statement pretty rude.
The last clue was related to a famous Jin Yong novel... but the book binding had "Gu Long" (the other most famous wuxia novelist) on it, instead. Wilber, an American school student for his entire school career, MIGHT be excused for not noticing... after time was called, though, Wilber DID find it. QiaoQiao-- after some more complaining-- said that WILBER didn't see the words "Gu Long" on it... implying that it was his fault.
When she had spent 15 minutes in front of the bookcase staring at the books.
And when she DOESN'T have an excuse of "American education."
It's one thing to be super-bad at this game/very unobservant-- as she proved she was when she couldn't tell... even after Wilber told her to pick it up... that a pen was actually made out of crackers o_O... it's another, however, to whine and complain and, basically, not care about anything.
I thought Rainie's episode was bad-- and I complained about that one, too (lest someone accuse me of being unfair to QiaoQiao). But QiaoQiao totally takes the cake...
I guess that's what happens when you're related to someone who's very powerful in the entertainment industry, though.
(Which, btw, is the rumor... supposedly, that's how she got into show business in the first place and got all those lead roles at SETTV right off the bat. Maybe now her relative is at CTS... since she's been headlining a lot of their shows, and there's literally NO other reason for her to have appeared on Power Sunday with Wilber. Before they began searching, she said that she had met Wilber less than five times ("less than I can count on one hand").)
Anyway, I am NOT happy. I grew up on variety shows where celebrities-- even HUGE names... like Andy Lau, Aaron Kwok, even Tony Leung-- had to work HARD for a few minutes of promotion. Everyone was humble and hard-working. I can't speak for how QiaoQiao acts on other shows-- because I simply don't know-- but I was extremely disappointed in the way she acted on this one.
