i once heard from the elders that we musn't cover our foreheard while sleeping because our forehead actually contains some sort of talisman that can ward of spirits...is that true? i'm unable to find concrete support thought..

it's just like the theory that my friend told me when ppl go camping in the forest they musn't tap or place their hand on other ppl's shoulder because there are supposedly 3 'flames' on our body, one on each shoulder and another one on dunno-where...if the person put his hand on our shoulder meaning that he has cover or put out the protective flame on our shoulder and make us vulnerable for spirits to disturb us....

I've heard a lot of superstitions but this kinda sounds absurd.

My hair covers my forehead when I sleep and I'm still alive ><

No i haven't heard it...but im sure theres alot of people in the world that have their forehead covered especially if u sleep with those eye things and ear muffs...during the cold nights...

I haven't heard something like that. My whole family sleep with the pillow or the forearm covering their forehead.

i didn't hear this but i heard when you sleep your feet shouldn't be pointed towards the door.

just wondering how do spirits hurt you? if they're dead and you have nothing to do with them. you didn't kill them and plus you can't see them and you just go right through them. I wont' buy this superstition.

never heard about his. But, did hear about the "3-flames" one. I think the other flames is on our head. That is, one at each of our shoulders and one on our head. Last time i watch a hong kong movie about ghost one, they have a scene where the ghost failed to approach a guy because the guys have the exceptionally strong "flames" on him.

when you place your arm over your forehead, you tend to think a lot before you sleep and it actually helps you to think more also. so it actually made you unable to sleep peacefully and some may ended up with nightmares just because they think too much when they sleep.

never heard this one before, and i've heard a lot of chinese superstitions from my family... i don't believe this one though. i sleep on my side, so most of my forehead is covered by either my hair or pillow and etc.

The wide area of your forehead acts like a "flame" to ward off spirits. My nurse friend told me before that one of the main functions for nurses to wear a white cap is to increase the "light" area on their heads to protect from spirits in the hospital.

for the cap one, the army caps all that also have the power. to protect them.
because the ghosts or spritis there are VERY powerful...
so, the cap, or what they are wearing are just that extra thing to protect.

I also heard that the police berets (caps) in HK are all made with some sort of protective talisman sewn inside the beret to protect the police.

so sleeping while covering forehead is just the narrower scope of the flame thingy...i never knew the nurse headgear has this function as well...well this is just chinese superstitions though...malays and indians wear the same as well haha...put it more scientifically it's just for cleaniness and tidiness...

what about the joint eyebrow and narrow forehead? do these contribute to the amount of 'light' on our foreheads?

i have a habit to cover my head entirely with a pillow because i can't stand the light...nothing happened so far.

i always cover my head witha pillow. 1 because i have a noisy ass air-con n 2 because i cant afford curtains and light from the other block is too bright

actually , i also heard people say like that. Do u know that our soul will come from our body when we sleep, so when our soul coming back, the soul will recognized ourself if we cover our forehead.

wait a second, is this why at (chinese) funerals we tie that black/white material around our foreheads?

Do that all the time because i have one hell of a noisy air-con and the fact that my neighbourhood is full of inconsiderate bunch of kids screaming their lungs out in the dead of the night or adults partying with karaoke through the night like nobody's business and the only solution to them all is to pluck earplugs into my ears and cover my head to block out all the din.

i never heard of that one before but i have heard of he one about not facing your mirror when you are sleeing because i think your soul gets sucked out of you or something?parets dont liek o talk to me about these things.and another one i know is that you shouldnt pant on a persons face when they are sleeping because the next day they dont wake up.if you want to get them to wake up again,you have to erase it at the same time that you drew on them

I heard of this from my brother because in my family, I'm the only one who cover my face with a pillow. I thought is was silly. A pure superstitious belief.

havent heard that before but my aunt always tells me to keep my forehead visible(cuz i have hair that covers it). shes says its not lucky or something like that and that only ghosts have hair that cover their foreheads.hehe --- i guess im a ghost

i dont know but ive heard of that!! as a kid growing up, we get scared easily. but one time my cousin said to me, if im scared, never pull or put your blanket above your head. so yeah, i guess dont do it.

never heard of the forehead thing but my mom and realatives said it´s not good to have your bed facing the door...like when you open the door you, thi first thing you see is the bed and it lies horizontally and you sleep with your feet close to the door(not head) so when you wake up the first thing you see is the door....do you guys understand what i mean?? i can´t explain.

anyway...they say it´s not good ´cause the door can act like "gate" or something, and that you can see "dirty" things...like ghost.......

i dont rmr exactly what ive heard maybe not exactly covering ur forehead when you are sleeping but something about your forehead is actually very powerful or something again ghost or something. cant rmr exact details but thats what i've heard.

it might be true everytime i sleep under the covers "they" would always sleep on me...

obviously a superstition. But then again, when I sleep on my back or cover my forehead, I sometimes wake up in the middle of the night not being able to move, speak, or do anything. It's called sleep paralysis and often associated by "old hag" syndrome, where supposedly this ghost sits on your chest o_O. I was trying to scream but nothing worked until I moved my fingers a little then I woke up screaming and thrashing about haha XD. anyways, hope you guys dont get this happen to you too >_<. It happened twice to me. Some ppl even see ghosts while under paralysis ,_,

my grandparents once told me to clip up my hair because my fringe always covered my forehead since i was little and they go that its not good because it gives you bad luck and ghosts are more inclined to attack you or something.

Well, spiritualists believe the "third eye" is located in the middle of your forehead, so if you cover your forehead, then I would assume you would be covering the "third eye".

From what I have learned about the "third eye", it is alleged to be the window of the "other world", it is also said to ward off bad energies and evil spirits...you see buddhist monks have red circle marks on their foreheads, that's the purpose of those marks; they serve as the "third eye".

It's amazing to know all this kind of stuff..covering your forehead with your hand while sleeping...it happened to me sometimes and nothing happened as i know.But i think its not very comfortable as the hand kinda put a pressure on the forehead and could hurt..
i wouldn't do that anymore tho.Legend or not a legend,always beware...

i think it was something like you have 3 lights; forehead; right shoulder; left shoulder, and if you cover it up your chi or something weakends therefore spirts can take over your body
