Charmaine Sheh as Wing Sau Fung
Age: 26 to 39 years old (1994 - 2007)
Education: Harvard Business School, Majoring in Public Finance
Occupation: Real estate agent, Afortane (bedding store) personnel, Ngai Tin Hang's assistance
Personality: Since young has vowed to become successful, tough, assertive on love and hate, highly intelligent, skillful in manipulating emotions. Having a stubborn personality, she has a strong sense of self protection, will not reveal her emotions easily. Filial to mother, she will not hesitate to sacrifice her most loved for revenge.

Fung was born in Canada; Ping was her mother while her father is a Canadian born Chinese. During her childhood, her father business failed and becomes an alcoholic. After he was drunk, he will beat Ping mercilessly. Through the years, Fung saw with her own eyes how her mother bears the abuse. To safeguard Fung, her mother withstands silently. Fung promised to take her mother away from this family hell. In addition of being filial, Fung strives to improve and worked part time to support her studies, finally earning a scholarship to continue her studies at Harvard Business School. During her university years, Fung learned that her father died in an accident. Little does she know that Ping actually killed her father out of self defense. This important secret becomes the starting point of Fung's feud with Wah Man Hang's family in the future.

Fung vowed to become successful: Firstly to allow Ping to peacefully enjoy her old age, second is to separate her life from poverty. In her fight to climb upwards, she enters the dicey world of business, using her brilliant and competent personality to earn big business. Fung's career was successful, soon she fetches Ping to Hong Kong and they lived supporting each other.

At this time, Fung met Wah Man Hang's son Wah Zhen Pong. Pong is a wealthy heir who looks down on the world. The two contested in business, acknowledge each other and also test each other wits. Because of this, they grew impressed of each other, growing a subtle feeling…

After the economic crisis in 1997, Fung almost bankrupted due to Pong, straining their relationship. Seeing that Pong was able to stand up after being dejected, using an unbreakable spirit to manage the car factory in Mainland, Fung began to change her views and started to stand up again, starting from a low position in a bedding store. Both of them got a new start and reconcile soon after. Unfortunately, heaven played a trick on them when Ping was accused of murdering her husband and she committed suicide in jail. Fung was grief stricken. Pong was always by her side, taking care of her. Acknowledging each other, they decided to get married.

When Fung thought she could forget the grief and preparing her wedding with Pong, she was shocked to learn that Ping's death was related to Man Hang and Yan. Fung feels that both of them caused Ping's death, and swore to revenge on Wah family…

Before the wedding, Fung doesn't hesitate to sacrifice Pong and used her pregnancy to extort and cheats Man Hang's money. She also exposed Man Hang's one night stand with Ping. Fung received a huge amount of money from Man Hang, but her baby miscarriage in an accident. Fung loses everything, feeling hurt and embittered; she used risky tactics to earn profits in Mainland, drinking alcohol to numb her grief. This time, Fung's ruthlessness receives Tin Hang's recognition. They understand each other and Tin Hang provoked Fung's hatred toward Wah family. Fung decided to collaborate with Tin Hang and returns to Hong Kong to exact her revenge on Wah family.

However, Fung never forgot her feelings for Pong, and felt guilty for hurting Pong. In between commercial wars with Wah family, Fung and Pong rekindle their love, throwing everything away and got back together again. However, Fung and Wah family feud is too deep; they were unable to accept her. Fung decide to leave with Pong to a far away place to restart a new life.

At this time, Tin Hang has serious illness and in the end entrusts his inheritance to Fung, hoping Fung will fulfill his wishes. Actually, when Fung and Tin Hang worked together to fight Wah family, they have built a deep mentor-student relationship. At his deathbed, Tin Hang have a change of heart and wish to invest in Wah family business, completing the dream of Mainland automobile and leaving a good name in the world. He also hopes Fung will take this advantage to resolve her dispute with Wah family. Fung was grateful of Tin Hang's wish, plus seeing Pong's passion for his dream, decided to stay behind with Pong and fulfill Tin Hang's wishes. Unfortunately, though Tin Hang used every trick, he still cannot get rid of the evil spy in Wah family: Piew. As soon as Tin Hang passed away, Piew and Fung launched a battle on Tin Hang's inheritance…

In court, Wah family show distrust towards Fung and constantly hostile toward each other, making Pong feel awkward. However, Pong kept supporting Fung and officially married Fung to show affirm his trust. For the sake of Pong and her own future, also for Wah family, Fung continue to persevere on the court battle with Piew and intents to expose Piew evil conducts. Unexpectedly, during investigating Piew's incriminating evidence, Fung accidentally injured Man Hang and caused him to be paralyzed waist down. Fung feels guilty and because Man Hang was forgiving and did not expose Fung's mistake, she feels more ashamed and decided to give up (on the case).

Throwing the conflicts away, Fung plan to spend her lifetime with Pong. But she couldn't fight the guilt in her heart and confessed to Pong that she was the culprit who mistakenly injured Man Hang. Pong could not accept this and his heart filled with detest, angrily leaving Fung…

Though Fung was abandoned by Fung, she has not given up on Pong. She silently waits for the day Pong forgives her...

i hope charmaine has a happy ending with ray. its charray forever.

Great to see her back in action again from her last series seems like this role is really interesting and different.

Oh man, doesn't seem like a happy ending. Hope it is, though, knowing TVB. I can't wait to see Charmaine in action; her character seems so strong and cool, except for the revenge thing. Revenge is never good.

Wow, her storyline sounds so interesting! So much complications, the struggle between revenge and love...can't wait to see this!! I'm sure with Charm's great acting skills she will bring Wing Sau Fung to life! Definitely hope this is a Charray ending..if not TVB will sure be getting a lot of complain letters! LOL!

Both Charm & Ray's storylines seem so interesting, allowing so much room for growth and maturity...hopefully this will bring both Charm & Ray awards at the end of the year? (Ladies and Gentlemen, presenting the TVB 2007 Best Actor Award to....RAYMOND LAM and the Best Actress Award once again goes to...the lovely CHARMAINE SHEH and since they're so perfect together we've decided to give them the MOST AMAZINGLY PERFECT COUPLE AWARD as well! )

i just realisedhow ugly charmaine is when i watch this show. i used to idolise her in the past but now i think she is ugly .. she probably stop using all those beauty products tt why

Wow so much motives behind Charmaines moves in the drama. I hope there will be a happy ending, sounds like she has been through alot in this. I can't wait to see it.

I feel that Charmaine is not so pretty in this drama. She is much prettier last time.

Think she looks ok here! But just too mature for Ray esp. in the first part of the series when Ray still got his curly hair! Think they looked much better as a couple in ancient series than modern series!

I didn't like her character well from the start! As I said before....too much a follower of money!

At first she was going out with Ray with only one intention.......because he was rich! She just wanted to take advantage from him as his partner in selling properties to get more money !
However, good to see her character changed to be good & understandable at the last part of the series! Thanks to Damien who could really impress her & change her attitude towards life!

She was never an 'angel' from the beginning, nor did she ever pretend that she did not love money. Understandable, considering the kind of childhood she went through in contrast of what normal people have.

[spoiler]She did not go out (as in dating) with Ray because of money. She approach him clearly because she want the exclusive dealership rights to the property agent (she was not after his money, she wants a business dealership, not free money from him). She was unethical by hiding a partial commission from him (no denying that), but her foremost intention in approaching him (or rather, entertaining his whims) is the dealership itself.

Otherwise she would have agreed and jumped at the chance where Ray dropped hints if she could be his girlfriend at the wine bar. She made it clear that she is only interested in business partnership, not lovers.

Ray himself is not the innocent party here. He clearly knows what kind of person Charmaine is and yet he kept leading her on because while she is interested in earning more money, his main motive to successfully wins a (trophy) girlfriend.

They only started going out as boyfriend/girlfriend after the tram ride. It was because they have mutual feelings for each other, not motivated by monetary benefits. [/spoiler]

Agree that Ray was not the innocent party here! He was a playful character at the beginning & he just wanted to show off or to win Charmaine to be his girl 'cause he said she got "character",may be he had never been rejected by other girls before! Or no other girl had cheated him before like what she did!
What do you think about Charmaine & her kisses to Raymond on the tram? One kiss stands for one property(for her to sell & gain commission)!.......Is she selling her kisses? Not a graceful act IMO?

Charmaine's long curly hair looks really good on her, love her redish color & her fashions are hot. Like her character, she's funny & smart looking. I love watching Charmaine, she's so good. Think she looks great with Raymond.

At the beginning stage (episode 1-10), Charmaine have no interest in dating or getting a boyfriend. She trust money more than men (in her own words).

Believe it or not, I like Wing Sau Fung not because I'm a fan of Charmaine. It's more likely I'm a fan of similar 'extremist' character. I'm particularly fond of Sheren's role in The Good Old Days (ATV). While other people criticsm how negative this people are, I feel the frustration of the characters, how they come to what they are.

Don't bash me, but I quite like Stephen Au in Strike At Heart (not at the ending though).

I don't know if the CCTV version affected my feelings abt the ending of DOL, but

[spoiler]I don't really like Charmaine's ending. I mean it's good as in she become more gentle and understanding, but CCTV version doesn't bother to explain her career (I have the opinion that she have become a housewife) and made her too dependant on Ray. I mean, it's a waste for her talent and education to be 'just a mellow wife', get what I mean?

But I think the chances of them having children are rather rare! As we were told in the CCTV version that Charmaine could not bear any baby in the future because of her miscarriage! Hope there would be miracle!
Can't wait for the ending in canto. version! Wonder what's really in that 2 extra epi. since the canto.version has got 60 episodes in total!

I really like Sau Fung . I'm a Charmaine's fan.

At first when I heard that, Sau Fung is kind of materialism person.

I'm not so pround of this character. But when I watch the series ....

Wow!! she's so cool yet innocent ... well in term of strainghtforward.


I'm not so good in English to describe my opinion but I totally agree with sehseh.

i watched up to esp 8...i like her character...i like her hair and color...the way she dress...i find her character strong and funny....she acting skill is great...

[spoiler]The doctor did not said she could not bear any baby in the future. It's just that it'll be difficult for her to get pregnant naturally.

Therefore logically speaking, they could still have baby via IVF.[/spoiler]

If tvb would like to end with Charmaine & Ray having their baby, they could always put in anything to make it work......In this world, anything can happen! Think that would be a happy ending for many viewers esp their fans!
But I think the ending of mandarin version & cantonese version would be the same! May be more details on certain aspects in the series! Actually 2 epi when compared to 60 epi is not really a lot. They may just put a few more minutes in each epi to make up the 60 epis! I never compare both versions in detail. So don't know how it work out really!? Or just add 2 more epi.at the end of the series? Anyone knows how it works?

I think Charmaine's portrayal of Wing Sau Fung is pretty hot here. I am glad she's not portraying one of those stubborn yet serious and traditional but career oriented woman. Even though she's career oriented and money craze, she has her reasons. She has her goofy sides and her smiles shines the brightest and most real in front of the one and only person she lives for: Cheung Ping, her Mom. Her Mom serves as her greatest motivation of why she wants to earn lots of money. She comes from a broken family, lives with a drunkard father and a loving, gentle but timid mother who was constantly beat by her drunkard father. What's a kid gotta do but to drive herself to grow up faster, study harder and earn a scholarship to go away for College so that she can get out of that hell hole of hers. She left knowing that she'll be leaving her most love behind, but what can she do without any money on hands? Of course she wants to bring her Mom with her but she can't and so her main goal from then on is to graduate college and earn lots of money, enough money to get her Mom out of that hell hole and then earn more money so that her Mom can forget her past and live a better and comfortable life. Sure, she's grown so fond of money that she strives to earn more money using risky strategies, but hey, its survival of the fittest. She's working in a world full of money craze lovers and very competitive workers that will do anything to move up including stealing her business, but she's no dumb girl and she'll do what she has to do to protect herself and secure her finances. She's crazy about money but it is no comparison to how much she loves her Mom. With a childhood like that, it is admirable that she came out the way she is and not a drunkard like her father, or timid like her Mom or a drug user abuser or even a prostitute! She is no perfect Angel and she is selfish and dishonest but she never meant to hurt anyone and she did what she did with her Mom, her life and a conscience in mind.

Man she is annoying dammit! her character is overly way too sarcastic, she doesnt pull off the ambitious competitive type.

Evil type yes, but not this role.

i dont get why some people are so offended by char or dislike her..she's just portrayin the character that was given to her to act out?? i think she's doing an EXCELLENT job as of now..there are still lots more episodes to be seen, and im really lookin forward to her 'revenge' part of the series where her acting sort of 'evil' comes out, although she still has a good heart. everythin she does in this series i dont think is pure out evil, you can see although she wants money, she has her reasons, she loves her mom and she's very obedient to her mom..she's just a bit over protective of herself i guess so that's why..but so far, im loving charr's acting ..esp charray scenes

well in this serie charms character was to be money lover and charm said that too on promtions that her character are like that.but u guys will see that she have change about that point and there where motive y she want to earn more money and so on. well if u guys have watch till eps 19 then u guys should know that charm have already change and u will find out that her character in this serie is very intresting. I just love her character ^^

I totally agree. I was pouring my eyes out in that scene and I was watching it in mandarin too and my mandarin is a bit weak. But the emotions that she shows really touched me and I really feel for her character.

Yeah, I think Michelle should have played this character instead of Charmaine. There will probably be less complain.

Okay, back to the main topic. So far in this series I don't really see anything outstanding about her character yet. It really just a person who cares only of money and she and Raymond are playing a pair of foes.

I totally agree with you, although the scene was only a few seconds long, it was enough to make me cry, I felt like I could totally feel her character's pain and anguish at that exact moment...

Myolie Wu hates Charmaine Sheh in the movie. Myolie Wu hates her right from the begining. She pills water on Charmaine twice and even lock her in the toilet.

Myolie Wu is just jealous. She can't compare with Charmaine in terms of beauty and intelligent.

I personally agrees and believes that charmaine's portrayal is outstanding. She really caught my attention with her beauty and character. I look forward to her scenes and gets excited when I think about the changes she'll be going through. I am all smiles when she is interacting with Raymond. Its because of her that I started to pay attention to Raymond.

She looks so good in the series! She shines through because she is not playing the typical role. I like Myolie character's innocence and Jessica's maturity but I love Sau Fung's intelligence, her wits and her love for her Mom. Those set of eyes can really talk.

I haven't seen the bad side to her yet...but i like her!!!! Can't wait to watch more episodes with her and Raymond...........

i watched the mandarin version of this series before the cantonese version was even released.. and yes char and ray end up together.
