The award for costliest dress goes to...
WITH so much fashion and flesh on show at the Golden Melody Awards, it was easy to forget that music was really the winner here. CHANG MAY CHOON reports from Taipei
THEY call it the Walk of Fame. But it could jolly well have been the Walk of Whose Glitzy Outfit Is More Expensive.
As a host of glamorously-dressed celebrities descended upon the red carpet leading to the 14th Golden Melody Awards held at Taipei's National Taiwan University Sports Centre last Saturday, reporters scrambled to gather details about their fashion choices.
It's almost like a military drill.
First, beckon the artiste.
Second, ask her what designer label she's wearing, and how much it costs.
Finally, brush her off and focus on the next artiste arriving.
Unless, of course, there is more to ask.
HOST CREATES STIR
Awards host Matilda Tao, for one, created quite a stir when she strolled in clad in a cleavage-spilling short pink dress, flanked by the two strapping hunks from the drama, The Rose.
We crowded around her, bombarding her with questions about her obvious weight loss.
A gleeful Matilda said she had lost 7kg in the past three weeks.
How? Thanks to stress, dieting and exercise, she said.
'Initially I was so stressed out (to be the host) that I didn't eat for three days,' she explained.
'Then I interviewed Vanness (of F4) and he said he only eats two meals, and only broccoli.
'So I was inspired to lose weight, too.'
When someone asked if her bust size had also reduced, she just laughed it off and quickly diverted the attention to her macho escorts, Zheng Yuan-chang and Huang Zhi-wei.
With YSL-clad Charlie Yeung, however, the interview turned into a little catch-up session.
Ever so sweet and friendly, the retired 'teenage-boy-killer' of yesteryear took time to say hi to various reporters.
EXCITED MEETING
'There are so many faces I remember. It's been so long since we last met!' Charlie exclaimed excitedly, in the tone of an old friend.
But in the case of most artistes, whether they were award nominees or presenters, it was just a brief chat to dig out the two essential details.
Jay Chou's black suit: Kenzo, NT60,000 ($3,000).
Ken Zhu's orange-red suede jacket and black pants: Gucci, NT220,000.
Ha Ri Su's spaghetti-strap black dress: Gucci, NT$600,000, arguably the most expensive.
Meanwhile, the photographers were going wild over the skimpiest of evening gowns.
Little S of ASOS Sisters won hands down with her tailor-made gold dress (worth a whopping NT$100,000), which left little to the imagination.
It was backless, had a plunging neckline, and was so short one could almost see her bum.
Not the most expensive, perhaps, but it definitely was the winner in the attention-grabbing department.

dee hsu has new tv show but it is not the 100% show which she co-host with her sister barbie..... i don't know the title yet but it started this january 2004 with a new male co-host i don't know also the name.....

自2003年小S徐熙娣爲Miracle金飾代言後，銷售成績節節高昇，2004年Miracle金飾再度邀請小S擔任年度代言人，此舉也創下連續2年都由同一位藝人代言的先例，被問到此次代言的酬勞，小S依舊很滿意的說『只有六位數字而已啦，每個藝人代言不都這麼說嘛』，但廠商卻大手筆的先送上量身訂做的超大型晶鑽項鍊，由Miracle金飾負責人爲小S親手戴上，隨後要小S先閉上眼睛，並請保全將重達十公斤重，約300両價值600萬元的金塊自舞台後推出，一樣由負責人親手送給小S，小S收到此等貴重的禮物急忙說：『我會立刻把他存到銀行的保險箱裡的。』，Miracle金飾負責人鄭先生也立刻回答說：『那我等下將保全租給你用好了，順便幫你搬金塊』。
