No male actors from TVB in recent time have come close to he original TVB Five Tigers - Andy Lau, Tony Leung, Felix Wong, Michael Miu and Kent Tong. Andy Lau and Tony Leung have both become award winning actors in film after memorable tv series at TVB and both developed into well known singers with no. 1 hits particularly in the 90s. Felix Wong and Michael Miu touched hearts with their old TVB dramas and continue to do so with their new series. Perhaps the quietest of the 5, Kent Tong is still remembered as one of the most popular actors of his time with minor roles even now way past his prime. Of the newer generation actors, Louis Koo and Nick Cheung are probably the only 2 that have come close to the popularity and success of the original 5 Tigers. They both have successful film careers though not award winning and both have had a go at a singing career though with limited success.

I love all five Tigers. Some more and some less, but they are all great.
Michael Miu - all around good man, good husband, good dad, good businessman, good actor and have good looks.
Andy Lau - hard working, moral and decent person, very intelligent and of course well rounded artist
Felix Wong - love all his TVB series.
Kent Tong - does a very good job playing bad guy.
Tony Leung - he is the least of my favorite. I don't like his sad sack face, but he is a great actor.

it would be tough to find anybody that can match the recognition that the five tigers had, even actors such as galen lo cannot match up to their level because as mentioned in previous posts, a lot of the five tigers made it big beyond the series... too bad for felix wong though, tvb lifer

so,who's the next new 5tiger for TVB, i though last time TVB ever mentioned of Carlo Ng,but seems he's not really active wth serials role.So might be Louis Koo, Nick Cheung too.how about Sunny Chan?

i don't think anyone currently at tvb even comes close to the 5 tigers. of all the male actors, bobby au yeung is probably the most senior now at tvb.

it's a pity tvb can't produce another five tigers from the current batch of young actors...
the young actors really lack the so-called x factor

It's impossible to have replacements for the five tigers because they're too iconic in their own way, just like the Four Heavenly Kings. To give anyone those names would mean they have to face constant criticism and ridicule from fans.

But if you're talking about being movie stars like Andy Lau and Tony Leung, with lots more experience and if they get out of TVB, I do think that some of TVB's current siu sangs, like Raymond, Bosco, Ron, and Sammul, have the potential to become the next big HK movie stars. With their age, looks, more experience, and good timing, it can happen. The veteran HK movie actors are getting older, and it's only so long that the movie industry can depend on singers turned actors to give quality performances. Honestly, if they get out of TVB and enter the movie industry, I think would rather watch them than some singer turned actor.

I don't think you can replace the Five Tigers. Just leave the title alone and for the new generations label them something else.
I think I read somewhere they are grouping Raymond, Bosco, Kenneth, Ron, Sammul as the new Five. But let's not call them Tigers. Call them Five Cats as they are still so "new".

^^^ thats definitely not a bad combo at all...

anyone want to come up with another Five Beauties. from the originals of Yammie Lam, Idy Chan, Margie Tsang, Jamie Chic, Kitty Lai
clooney_girl06
to be honest nobody can replace anything cause they r the originals for eg. James Bond
Sean Connery is the original but there's Pierce Brosnan which did a fabulace job, although no matter how good they r they still can never replace the originals lol!
Y don't Tvb give them a new name... well Nick, Louise doesn't work for tvb anymore if they will be qualified i dun think so.

urm how about giving the new incomer generation a go for e.g
Kevin Cheung
Sammul Chan
Raymond Lam
Bosco Wong
Ron Ng
although there not as good but they deserve a name aswell and as for keneth i dun like him so forget about him and plus his not the charming person and his acting isn't so great either!
ranking who i like the most in the original 5 tigers urm

Michael- he has the looks, the talent although his acting is great but at the end of dicey business is didn't do a very good job a crying and the scene when he was playing against bobby where jessica got tied up! other than that his pretty good! and he made a great comebackin The Adacemy

Andy- He has a A non stop career and still going on, his very talented although i'm looking forward if his going to be in a series, his singing is great and his l acting is good. I've watch movies of him in the 80's and their great but the ones his doing lately isn't so interesting so his
on my 2nd list! thumbs up

urm my list down is in no particualr order cause i don't like them much, dun get me wrong they're actors but not my favourites lol

Kent Tong- His a good actor but still from my list down i dun like them that much! his appearance in the media hasn't been to much but back then he was like usual as all the 5 tigers r GREAT !but we are talking at present which his appearance isn't so great.

Tony Leung- his a great actor but his impresscion which has a sad face dun like but i loved watching him and Andy Lau in Duke of Mount Deer 1984, they're relationship is great and he had that happy face lol!

Felix Wong- My last but not least Felix his a great actor but i am so sorry his loks r the least, all of the 5 tigers in the 80's wer Fantastic! but not in the present there isn't much to say about half of them, well wat can i say about Felix, his performance is good but still haven't got my thumbs up! i guest i just have a low taste rofl!

like i said i haven't seen alll of there movies sind i was only born in the 90's, but i've seen enough to kow they're perforance. At first i thought how come every body likes Andy, even my mum and Aunty does and wheni looked up on the net i said to my self his not that good looking but when i seen some of his old movies his great his singing is Fantastic so i guest i still have alot to learn lol! wink.gif

the new actors probably might not have matured yet..
i think thats why we call them budding stars.
now, they seem all so cute & good-looking to us.
but as they age, looks don't matter as much anymore.
its the ability that counts.
maybe thats when they get noticed for their good acting
i believe they have the potential.
go young starlets~ jia you~
