Seriously...what's with all these actresses going on pills to emancipate themselves to skin and bones?!! Why does every actress have to be 95lbs? How does this look good? I understand cultural differences mean different ideas of what looks good but WTF! How is skeletal looking good?!! Why does looking this so-called "good" always take precedence over healthy? To me, looking healthy gives you that glow which is what makes you look sexy. Yet actresses who actually have nice curves and healthy weight are considered fat....like Sonja or Bernice or Michelle(no comment on their acting and looks of course)? But people who look disgustingly thin like Maggie Cheung (Ho Yee), Charmaine, Kenix are considered to have perfect bodies? You see those Miss Hong Kong Contestants when they're catwalking or something and they look like they're gonna tip over if you blow on them. Or in those shows where they're trying to fight and look all powerful but they can barely keep their balance just standing and fighting air!
And I hate how socially irresponsible they are. I'd hate to be one of those impressionable young girls who probably feel like crap because of what these actresses are portraying, or anybody else just because they're not skeletal looking. They keep saying how it's sexy and beautiful and how it makes them feel better about themselves! Like when Kenix said it's okay to look that thin, and the thinner you are the more beautiful you feel! I just want to drop kick them to the floor and force hamburgers down their scrawny little throats!

I think Bernice is gorgeous. But I guess its as the saying goes, "whatever floats your boat." But yes, people are getting too skinny nowadays.

I don't think Bernice is too skinny...she's just about perfect

Kenix Kwok and Bondy Chiu though, are way too skinny.
Cutie Mui lost her chubby image, she's now THIN...

I don't know how they can do that to their bodies. I mean if you're born with it or born with a disease, I can understand that, but if you're FORCING yourself to be skinny, that's like messing with nature.

the trend is for everyone to be spokesman for those dieting companies. yes, bernice looks great, i'm glad she isn't rushing to go on those type of diets. i personally think gillian of twins is not fat at all, but the newspapers said that she was fat and since then she has become one of the people for those diet companies (not saying that there is a 100% correlation, but it's definitely connected). it's just sad to see how skinny these girls are getting...

Some female artists that I was considering beautiful and sexy are getting more and more skinny. It's a new tendancy? Am I old fashion? If not why those artists getting more fames, more jobs, more sponsors and more fans?
Here are few example of female artists getting thin(very skinny) and becomming more and more famous:
Kenix Kwok, Ada Choi, Cecilla Cheng, Sammi Cheng and I pass...
Personally I prefer Women with at least some flesh, but not chubby

Feel free to express your opinions!
And if U have some explanations for this new trend, I'll be glad to know?

also they work really hard so its natural to lose weight >_<
i also wished they get a bit of flesh because i only see bones on some of em.

This is one problem with the attitudes of hong kong actresses and women in general. Kenix and cecilia are really really super skinny. espcially kenix she look real bony when she got short sleeves on. I guess it's diff in culture. even though america value thinness, but not to much extreme.

i think everyone is going a little overboard with the weight thing too. All you hear about now a days is diet this and diet that. its good that they want to be healthy and all but going in to such extremes to where you start seeing bones on the body is not pretty or sexy at all. i agree with the other guy a little meat is good. they should at least have some curves. thats what makes them look sexy. (just my opinion..)

I think Hollywood has a large impact on female artist in HK becaues many Hollywood female celebrities are skinny. Sometimes some of them become anorexic and/or bulimic because they're fame and fortune are based on how they look. They just don't understand the damages they are inflicting on their bodies.

The women are getting too skinny. Gals like Kenix, Ada, and many others are tall and yet they weigh so little. I'm sure there is pressure to look good and be skinny. I know a lot of actresses take slimming pills. I have no idea if they are safe or what drawbacks they have, but these women are beautiful and talented. It looks unhealthy how skinny they are. But I guess this industry will do it to you.

I find it disturbing now that many HK female actors are becoming skinnier, god I was shocked when I saw Halina Tam in her wedding dress outfit for Virtues Of Harmony 2, her bones was quite visible. Even Maggie Cheung now looks kinda bad now that she's skinnier and I thought her look was Better Halves was skinny enough.

It's the new social norm to be skinny, Hollywood has a big affect on this. If you don't look like a model, your too fat. All those girls want to conform, especially those in front of the spotlight all the time.

I think that the most skinny hong kong actress has to be Kenix Kwok. I'm wondering if she's anorexic. Without makeup, she will not have a healthy image at all. They are so skinny that they are becoming flat:no chest and no ass

I think it has to do with the amount of slimming products and adverts in Hong Kong! If such thing was advertised here in the UK, then these magazines would prob be stopped! As it is prob illegal here!
I feel and know the pressure of being slim! I want to be slim! I am not fat but a bit overweight! ANd I was jus wondering does anyone know how to lose weight quickly like pills that are safe that I could take!!! PLEASE! hehe!

yup i agree! its the trend. my godfather, who's a police man in hk, was telling me how they catch stars taking drugs to get skinnier and to make them look happier and more energetic.
i don't see how any one can live in such a morbid and sad society like that >.<
of course i'm talking in general. like...joey yung claimed to have lost 20+ pounds by going to some special doctor who helped her loose a lot of weight and ceclia cheung and ada choi have always been really skinny (even before they became stars).

This "trend" has been going on for ages in the entertainment world. Some actresses are getting obsessively skinny that they are becoming kinda ugly. Too much bones in my taste.
Like Charmaine, I prefer when she was a bit more meaty. Now all you see is skins and bones.

it is okay to lose weight because it is healthy for the human body...but to the point where all you can see is bones and skin like Kenix...now that is really scary...Kenix is really pretty and a great actress...but seriously she needs to put on some pounds...i saw recent photos of her and past photos...in the past she was skinny but it was okay...but now it is rrreaaalllyy freaky to look at her...it's like looking at a skeleton...trends sometimes can get off hand

Don't you guys know, the trend is to be whatever other people are not. If people are poor and food is scarce, its fashionable to be plump. When food is plentiful and cheap, it is fashionable to be slim. They just take it to the extremes these days.

Totally agree with you all. I thought it was just me, but Kenix is literally skin and bones. For her height, she shouldn't be that thin. I heard that she was 90 soemthing pounds and was planning to loose more. I don't understand...over here the "big butt" thing is gaining way, but in HK you have to be a stick.

er... wells, true, if u're thin u mite look better. but how can ur body be more revealing when u're so thin to the point where u haf no chest, and u haf no ass...and basically u lose all shape altogether? it's good to be thin i suppose (for health reasons??), but not to the extreme.
i think kenix is getting ridiculously thin. when one of the olsen twins (mary kate, is it?) went to rehab for anorexia, she weighed in at 85 pounds. i believe that marykate olsen is not taller than 5'7. anyway, kenix, on the other hand, is 5'7, and she weighs about 85 pounds. it is just ridiculous, and she is setting a bad example. maybe she needs to go to rehab, because if she's not anorexic, then what is she? i don't believe for a second that she has high metabolism... not that high.
another one is sammi cheng. she just doesn't eat. instead, she just smokes a load of cigarettes to keep thin.
i think they all look so much better with a bit of meat on their bones. but, because the chinese media are so ready to scrutinize everything about a celebrity, particularly the weight, it becomes discouraging for any female celebrity to want to eat. i think the media should really back off. i remember i read an article about how they were poking fun at mandy cho's baby fat and calling those women who are of healthy weight to be pork chops. thats just wrong
