First of all let me tell you - I'm a huge S.H.E fan! I bought all of their album/DVDs/photobooks etc etc and I can't get enough of their music.
But I really don't get why there are soooo many Hebe fans! I just don't get it...in my opinion her voice isn't that great as many think it is. Sometimes it's even "annoying" cuz it seems like she's trying too hard to get those high pitches...
Even when it comes to her beauty...everyone says "OMG!! She's such a beautiful cutie! The hottest!!" - I don't think so XD Her nose/chin is kinda strange xD...imo Selina is much prettier than Hebe and still it seems like Hebe has more admirers.
Once again - DON'T GET ME WRONG! I like Hebe! But I don't get why she's the one with the hugest fanbase ~ maybe cuz she's the youngest...oh well...I don't know.

well, we all have different opinions...i personally really like Hebe, much more than Selina...I really love Hebe's voice cuz it's more versatile n unlike Selina who's voice is mainly high-pitched n cute, n Ella who has a deep n mature voice, Hebe's voice is more neutral...but i'm not saying she has the best vocals, cuz they r all equally good in terms of vocal talent.

all 3 of them appeal to different ppl, Selina attracts mainly girls, while guys r more attracted to Ella, but Hebe is loved by both girls n guys, so i wouldn't b surprised if she has a bigger fanbase. i personally like hebe better than all the other members. i actually really enjoy her high voice. ellas ok, but after watching her make all those expressions on hana kimi, i didn't like her as much. and selena is just...kinda plain to me. hebes not exactley the prettiest nor best in taiwan but i still think shes pretty good. unlike a lot of other celebrities, she has talents (and the rest of SHE too, of course)

Hm, I haven't really noticed Hebe having a bigger fanbase. I guess it sort of depends who and where the people are. Different people are more popular in different countries. In the case of S.H.E, since they have a different image from each other, they'd attract different fans as mzdeviL has pointed out.

Hebe's voice is naturally like how it is now. You can even hear that when she talks, so naturally, she could sing those high pitches without much effort. However, her voice may sound like she is trying too hard.

As for her beauty, again the phrase 'beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder'. I am a Hebe fan and obviously I am going to comment that Hebe is beautiful. You like Selina more, so you will say Selina is prettier. It is actually pointless to argue about someone's physical appearance because that is something so subjective that you can't support with facts.

I don't think Hebe's popularity has got anything to do with her age. Maybe a portion of it, but that is not the biggest factor.It could be because of the 'personality' she displays on-screen. Some people are very fond of girls who don't speak much, or diffuse a mysterious aura. Hebe is this kind of person. Her singing, dancing, acting and other kinds of talents she shows are also the causes. As for being young, it could be that she appeals to people because she is the youngest and yet is still able to be mature in a way.

Personally,i prefer Hebe over the other two girls in the group.
Not that i dislike Selina&Ella(cause i find them super cute too) but i would admire girls like Hebe more.

For Singing,i think she surpassed loads of female singers.(Selina's voice also very high eh.)
With her harmonizing and her hitting super high notes where normally even girls can't hit.
But each to their own likings,i prefer hers cause she can hit low and high notes.And listening to S.H.E old songs and now..I realise she can go even furthur higher now (x

For Dancing,i haven't seen much of her dancing(i'm not a true blue fan of theirs but i admire them though (: ) But i've seen her dancing in certain MVs(although not those reggae,breakdance kind),she looks cool dancing.

For her features/face,i think she's very fortunate to have such features cause she can go for long hair or short hair,looking cute as usual.When she have long hair,she looks pretty.Now short hair,she give the feel off as Cool & Cute (:

I think Hebe is a versatile singer, her voice has many "layers". She can take on high, standard as well as low notes...easily. All members in the group are recognized as good singers; there aren't many who would doubt that, but Hebe has always been acknowledged as the better singer in the group. (Selina and Ella themselves think so too) As for her looks, it is really up to one's preference...I personally think Selina is the prettiest in the group. But Hebe and Ella are pretty in their own way too. They have different kind of beauty.
Regarding her being more popular than the others, I agree with SHE11x. it depends on which country it is. I have noticed after having visited many of their forums that Hebe is well-liked in Singapore, Hong Kong, Selina in China and Ella...well practically everywhere.
But in the end I think people including me still like S.H.E more as a group than individuals, so I hope people won't put down one member to make the other(s) look better.

I dun know the particular reason actually, just idolize her so much.. There was one day in 2001 when i watched S.H.E's "LianRenWeiMan" on Channel[V], dun paying much attention at first, but when i heard the part when Hebe hit the high note, i was like "O my God, awesome!", from then i've always tune on the music channel just so i can listen to that song again, then they play "TooMuch", from there i was hooked.. So maybe the 1st reason i like Hebe so much is bcoz of her voice, then her look, and then her attitude no matter when she's still bubbly and wacky or now when she's so quiet and mysterious..

I was never a fan of S.H.E and I'm still not, but I do like Hebe out of all the girls.

I think she has the best voice and her high notes actually sound good. I especially like her new song, "Lai Bu Ji" from the Bull Fighting OST.

And I also like her acting. I know she's still kind of a beginner to acting, but when I watched her in Bull Fighting, I was totally convinced. She portrays her character really well and might I say, her crying scenes are really good.

As for her looks...I think she's pretty. Although, I think Selina is just a little bit prettier. But, Hebe has a classic beauty, which is good because she doesn't have to act cute and stuff.

Overall, she's pretty talented, so it's natural for her to have a big fanbase.

Hebe overrated? No, you probably have this impression because right now on the forum, there are a lot of Hebe's sigs, Hebe's ''old'' fans and the new ones who came since BullFighting drama. It was the same during HanaKimi, from nowhere, you see Ella's sigs popping out, does it mean she was overrated? It's just like a trend, now it's Hebe's turn and maybe later on, you'll see lot of Selina's admirers.

Hebe's my favourite in S.H.E because I like her voice and the way she is on tv but I've never thought she was overrated, of course, I noticed the number of Hebe's pic on member's sig but like I said, it's more with the airing of BullFighting. Once again, I'm taking Ella as an example, if you look at Ella's thread, since HanaKimi, it grows pretty fast while Hebe and Selina were behind and Ella was on a lot of sigs and now the same happened with Hebe.

It's not being overrated but more being in the spotlight at the moment.

I know some people are not Hebe fans, but they still have Hebe avatars and signatures, just maybe because they are pretty. Personally, I think when it comes to S.H.E., people's favourites change according to the trend, like SH4ever said? Many fans adore the three girls equally, so when it's Hana Kimi in the air, Ella gets mentioned frequently. When it's Bull Fighting's time to shine, Hebe pops out here and there.

I agree with SHE11x about the fanbase might be bigger or smaller depending on location and how preference does have a major role in it. Aspire has pointed out already that each person has a different perspective on beauty and all so I won't repeat it, but want to say I agree. It's an old saying, but very true. Like babypuddingX3 and ♥luvergal♥ said, I thought Ella has a larger fanbase too, but that would lead it back to the matter of depending on location and who you run into, etc. For me, I go to different forums and get quite expose with Ella's fans so that's why I got the impression that Ella has more fans, but if I were to go somewhere totally different, the other two might be more expose or maybe all three with equal spotlight. *shrugs*

Like SH4ever pointed out, it's just who is beiing in the spotlight at the moment. And while reading your post, I thought of Bull Fighting and realized why the reason for many avatars/banners, etc. It's just a craze or "trends".

My personal opinion regarding this, I think the craze will fade out once the other two does somethiing or maybe all three will share the same spotlight - especially since they're always coming out with new albums so it'll divide equally again. I wasn't in the whole "S.H.E" craze until recently but I finally found out why when Alice (a major fan of Ehlo Huang Yu Rong who is also in this forum) told me to listen to some of their songs. I begin to look up their info also and watched Reaching For The Stars, which I thought is a light-hearted and short series - might be rushed at the end, but turns out nicely. The point? I became a S.H.E. fan also, especially Hebe, but that doesn't make me look down on the other two 'cause I think they're graet too - in their own way, just that like Hebe a tad more due other reasons.

I must agree with the person who said Hebe is lucky that she could wear any type of hair-style since it's really rare in artists and 'cause of their face shape or features, they couldn't wear a certain hair-style. (At least doesn't look that good or only could look their best in one or two hair-style.)

Overrated is a big word in my opinion. Everyone who has said it is a trend I agree with them. And personally I think that Ella has the bigger base cause I somewhat think that Hana Kimi is still more popular that Bullfighting. But that's just my opinion.

Well I actually only recentlty became a S.H.E fan and that was through my liking of Hebe at first then I began to adapt to the other two. Singing wise I don't think it's ever possible for someone to sing really good without seeming as if they're trying. Hebe does at times seem to be trying to hit high notes, I think I saw it in their concert once. But yet again I still think that she has a pretty good vocal range and can surpass quite a few singers out there.

Looks, true she may not be the best looking taiwanese fenale. I think even S.H.E admitted themselves to being the ugliest girlband alive or to ever live, one of them ^^ (which I don't find true cause they're all purdy to me) But she's got certain features which makes her look how she does, obciously being a Hebe fan it's natural for me to call her pretty and all that.

Her acting has improved tremendously from a girl who had to be told sad and depressing stories to get her to cry to something where the director just whispers a word and tears will start pouring. I find it really convincing



I think the reason for that is because of what SH4ever wrote. Most of the banners I've seen lately that include Hebe have something to do with her new drama Bullfighting. It could be a use for promotional reasons from fans who try to promote the drama, it could be for decoration who knows.

Correction. All S.H.E members are just fair right now. Don't just blame Ella anyhow, she got that promotions more becoz Selina is hosting while Hebe is filming a drama. So if both Selina & Hebe are busy, i don't think Ella must get blame for doing the promotions. And yeah she's not over rated as i can see. i think that she's the one who helped her lao po/sisters a lot lately. If you don't understand her situation, don't just say like that coz that's unfair for S.H.E. Without one of them, i don't think S.H.E will achieve success!!! And for god sake i don't think Ella get promoted just like that. She got all the promotions from the person that arrange her schedule. So why must blame her so much?? i couldnt agree with you more. Rainie Yang's overrated career and her over-acting 'cuteness' are great combinations to make me even sicker on her. As for Hebe, she is still far from that, she even hardly speak during S.H.E interviews, she's more to the quiet one.

Hebe doesn't seem to have a hard time reaching the high notes for me. She seems to be singing naturally, maybe it's just hte tone and quality of her voice that you don't like?

Hebe does have the looks of a celebrity, and I think that's what attracts a lot of people to her. Also, she has a wonderful voice (at least to the majority of the audience), which is what makes people like her even more.

Hebe's a rather quiet person in real life, but if you hear her on variety shows and all, she's extremely polite and doesn't exaggerate much. I love Hebe's personality

later on, when i watch her in shows and dramas, her voice is squeaky and all.

first and foremost, i wanna establish that i started out as an ella fan, and because i loved ella so much, i came to love s.h.e and become their fan, therefore my interpretation of this topic might be different from other people's points of view.

i can kind of understand where princess of persia is coming from in posing this question, and i apologize in advance if i misinterpret this or offend anyone, cause that is not my intention.

i live in the u.s., so i don't get that much exposure to news source about the asian scene unless i actively go out and look for it, and from the websites that i go to for news, updates and whatnot, i was also under the impression that hebe has a larger fanbase than selina and ella. from what i can speculate, most of her fans that i have seen/met are female and usually tend to dote most on her voice, which i totally agree with everyone that it is wonderful.

i think what makes her voice so appealing though is not only that she has a large range, but also because of the quality of her vocals. though i personally think that ella has more raw power in her voice, hebe does have one of the most powerful vocals that i have heard. though selina has great sound quality, her voice just sounds soft, and i'm not talking about volume, but the texture of her voice is soft (i don't know if that made any sense to anyone but me ) ella too has great quality and power, but her usual range is just unusually low for a female singer (personal rant, this is what i love about ella's voice because it is so soothing and husky, lol)

anyways, i was talking about each one of their voice quality because, like any fan would, i'm sure that s.h.e fans like to sing along to their songs (if they can, cause in my case i don't understand mandorin so i listen purely for the music and vocals, ) and it just so happens that hebe's voice is usually the easiest one to sing along to and match vocally, that is if you want to stay in tune. i think this is why so hebe fans are attached to her, not only because they love her as an individual, but because they feel like they have a closer connection to her musically than with the other two.

I think Hebe's first love was singing/music. It's where she discovered her talents and where she lies in the entertainment industry.
As for not getting chances.. I actually haven't heard many directors that are asking her to act for a while since DNYBY.

Either way, I still don't quite understand how Hebe is exactly overrated. :/ She's been more quiet after DNYBY onscreen, she's only active when S.H.E releases an album, or she's in a drama.

I agree with SHE11x's statement that it's really difficult to gauge the level of popularity between each member of S.H.E. I live in the US myself and where I live, S.H.E is relatively well-known, though there seems to be favoritism shown more towards ella than the other two members. There's bound to be favoritism shown, especially if there are choices to choose from in a group. To me, they all are very talented, versatile, and quite attractive. Though my favorite is Ella from the group, I am still able to see and acknowledge that the other two are also talented and am not surprised to see them have large fanbases themselves.

When it really boils down to it, I guess it depends largely on personal preferences. Hebe has a clear, high-pitched voice and she can reach the high notes really well. I especially enjoy her voice in "wo ai ni" and when she sang the "ting ma ma de hua" part in "jie kou." I think she deserves her fame and not at all overrated .

I read your first post yet again and I sorta agree and disagree, it depends what attracted you to which S.H.E member first and if they've been able to maintain you're liking towards them. To be quite honest I think that, actually I know a few SHE fans who originally prefer Hebe over the other two because she's prettier and her personality is just to adorable. Whilst some prefer Ella for her whacky/cool personality whilst some view Selina differently in her looks and personality.

As for your comment on her looks, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, heaps of people are talking constanly about how gorgeous Ella is (which I agree btw) lately but in my eyes Hebe will always be prettier despite if you find her quote 'nose/chin is kinda strange' then that's how you look at her, for me I think she's beautiful in every angle, yet again I am a Hebe fan. Vocal wise, I admire her vocals, range, power and she can control it. Yet i have heard S&H without Ella and well lets just say it's not as good.as Unique as Ella's vocals maybe or Selina's maybe I prefer Hebe's range and power. I've been a fan of S.H.E since their Superstar album and these girls have definitely worked really hard to get to where they are today. When they first started off in the showbiz, they had to do practically everything by themselves, e.g. putting make-up on, dressing themselves, being their own hair stylists, etc. All in all, I think they deserve that fame and popularity they have today.

Like people have said before, everyone has their own opinions and perspectives towards things.
Just because they favour one over the others doesn't make that one overrated.

i don't really think Hebe is overrated.. she has the looks, vocals and attitude..
but then again... S.H.E. wouldn't be S.H.E. without either of them...

from what someone said in the post before... Hebe & S.H.E. have earned their fame !!

I dont think Hebe is overrated. I mean overrated for me means being famous even without talents but Hebe is seriously not like that she is great in acting & singing & she looks so pretty too.

So i dont think she is overrated she deserves all the fame she got now & its bcoz of her hardwork, talents & not to forget her cute looks.

well,i like hebe very much though i'm nt SHE huge fan,i think she's cool,she sings very well,she's pretty and cute,though sumtimes she dun talk too much in front of the camera,but i still like to watch her and ignore ella and selina dorking around...hehe~~

I dont think Hebe is overrated. As a singer she can sing and is recognised for that. Shes not getting hugely popular based on nothing like some artist these days and that what i would say overrated.

Everyone has diff. views. And tbh, I find all of S.H.E lovable (: I love Selina and Ella too, but I think Hebe has to be my favourite. All the members have good voices and harmonize well together, but Hebe's voice really blows me away like in 聽袁惟仁彈吉他. Selina's voice sometimes sounds too 'cute' for my liking lol
I don't find Hebe overrated at all (: I find her personality really sweet aswell from what I see on TV - she seems really quiet and... angelic? lol ^^

I really don't think that Hebe is overrated. In fact, I think she is pretty much overshadowed by Ella and Selena because her face is not everywhere and she is in not much series. And she seems quite quiet. She has quite a good voice; I find that her singing is better than Selina.

Haha yeah, Hebe has a very unique voice, and I agree, her voice really stands out in 聽袁惟仁彈吉他 . (one of my favourites from S.H.E)
Ella & Selina both have their own unique voices as well, but like you said, Selina's voice can be too 'cute' , and it sometimes gives me the shivers.
Ella's voice is strong, but a bit too low for my liking, and Hebe's just perfect !
However, when the three of them sing together, it's like unbelievably perfect, hah .

Yep! I agree with all your comment, although not the part where Selina's voice sometimes gives you shiver coz it didn't to me, hehehe.. I like Selina & Ella's voices too, but Hebe's voice is just perfect (for me), LOVE it, and the way she sing is just awesome, like I dunno how to describe it, it's just awesome, I love the way she sing in all S.H.E's songs, damn!, she's perfect (for me).. My bro said "she has music in her voice", if you get what it means, then you'll understand..

Hebe overrated?
Nope wouldnt ever say so, Hebe is the quiet one out of the three.
Hebe is never the one doing the talking during interviews or concerts. (I was just rewatching their PLAY concert) and Hebe didnt even say one word during the breaks between the songs, it was all Ella and Selina, Hebe only spoke when she had to.
Yet a lot of people still say Hebe is their favourite, why? Because her talent shines.
Hebe is popular because her vocals are damn good.
