Bernice, Raymond, Myolie, and Sammul were the leads for SL1, and to me, it was one of the best casted series. Everyone's roles were distinct, well written and played their roles perfectly. The cast chemistry was amazing (not only with the leads) but with the firm ppl too, with Money jeh and Ceci.

And so when I heard that they were filming SL2 without Bernice, Raymond, and Myolie, I was disappointed because those 4 actors TOGETHER were the heart of SL.

With only Sammul left from the original cast, they really should have just changed it to a different name. Because the explanations for the other 3 disappearances are really stupid. Bernice LOVED Sammul SOOOO MUCH in SL1, that it's ridiculous that she would leave him..and to make him choose btw her and his career? That is something precisely that Jessica wouldn't have done in SL1. She stood by him when he lost his license and didn't care. I'm not sure Raymond & Myolie would leave as well. The thing with the 4 of them was that they loved the dumpy firm that they joined. Soooo why would Sammul leave?

While SL2, I do like Ella and Selena's characters..I would have much rather preferred this was a different series.

I thought the replacement of 3/4 of the main characters in Suvivor's Law II was a bad thing. I like the cast of Bernice, Raymond, and Myolie in the original Suvivor's Law. I mean it wouldn't be a sequel if they don't have the original cast together. I just hate it when TVB does this, they have a sequel of my favorite series, but they totally changed the cast. I love Bernice in the original and now they just have her for a guest appearance. I wanted her to be in here more. I haven't watched the series yet, but I read from this forum that Bernice is only going to guest star and she breaks up with Smamul which doesn't really make sense to me, because in SL I, she loved Sammul so much and now in this series she just breaks up with Sammul. Doesn't make sense to me.

I liked the original cast better .. i really liked Myolie, Raymond, and Bernice ! The least character i probably dislike is Kenneth . I think Ella and Selena are okay, but i prefer the original cast more .

Prefered the cast in SLI..Glad that Kenneth is in SLII though && as male lead but don't think putting Ella && Selena as female leads is a good idea. =/ Anyone else agree?

Yea, that old cast was pretty good. but I don't mind that much, since I really like the 4 characters here anyways, but not really a good idea for like a SEQUEL.
Don't really like myolie, but when I was watching SL1, i wasn't that into chinese series yet, only watched cuz my parents were watching, so i didn't really care who the heckk was who, so I had fun watching it.
ahahah good memory though, themissingpiece, i almost forgot about money jeh XD but totally don't remember who the heckk ceci was. I just remember the firm people used to call vincent "win sun" lmfao. ahahaha good times.
But i like the second one too. Kinda like it better, considering i like the characters individually a lot more. But as a group, not sure yet.... since SL2 has just begun.

i don't know what tvb was thinking. if they were going to make a sequel of a hit series then they should have considered using the original cast that made the series a hit in the first place.
I'm sorry but SL2 without Bernice, Raymond, and Myolie is just sad. Tvb should have postponed the sequel till all three of them were available.

I am just curious to know what was the reason TVB had to produce a sequel of previous aired production-series, like this one. I mean, what was the reason to produce the sequel? And, could this have waited or delay until the original cast members be available? What’s the rush?

I saw the original series and there were chemistry throughout, from the beginning to the end. I know I’m not going to waste my money for this series.

Don't you find that after watching MOI, TBBOL, the script writers are getting lazy??
For example:
MOI & TBBOL - storyline base on 1 guy having complicated relationship w 2 ladies
For this show, they even 'copy' the ringtone part from HOG
TBBOL - They can't even think of a better ending then show the two of them standing at the beach, far apart (maybe they are thinking of a sequel)
MOI - All I saw was Angela's character smashing and destroying things around her.

I believe the schedule for the artiste are already planned way beforehand. Producers have their 'own' bunch of favourite artiste. Naturally, when they're gonna film a new series, they want their 'own' ppl. Virginia Lok & the other lady (can't remember her name) have a hand in casting too. So, if they feel like promoting someone, they cast him or her in a predicted 'good' series or a grand production.

Look at producer Chik, he'll normally go for Ada, Bowie, Gigi, Moses and Kenny.
Moses didn't even want to take up HOG after filming DOP.
Burning Flames III, they are trying to get everyone in the show.
I think they may be trying to please the sponsors too. If a big time advertiser request for a certain actor or actress, I believe they will surely comply to the request.

As for Bernice, first it was Cats & Dogs and now this (30secs).
Maybe TVB feels she will make them more money in functions and endorsement.

Just some of my two cents opinions.

Before I started watching the series, I thought it wouldn't be as good as SL1 because Raymond & Myolie were not in. But to my surprise, I liked it after watching the 1st 5 episodes.
Think Kenneth & Ella turned out to be very cute.....this is a nice & fresh couple!
Although Bernice only appeared for a few second in epi.2.....I don't think she will match up with Sammul as good as Selena!

I did not like the replacement of 3/4 of the cast at first, but watching the first several eppies, I think that Ella and Kenneth's characters are pretty interesting to watch. I quite like their chemistry, and Sammul and Selena seem like a cute couple too.

Raymond, Myolie, Bernice, and Sammul definitely was the heart of Survivors Law I, and save for Bernice, they gave me a more serious and witty perspective on legal matters. With SL II, the characters give a more relaxed and sillier side to things. It would've been better if they used another title, but since they based it off of Vincent's history, it's understandable to use the title as a sequel. We've seen TVB did this before with other series like DIF and BF, so SL isn't as bad considering they actually referenced and continued Sammul's story from part I.

As for the cast change, I'm assuming they probably don't want to place all of their popular artistes in a small-production serie, but what else can be written about Ray, Myolie, and Bernice's characters? If they have the same cast again, are they just going to solve cases like SL1? or would there be more conflicts and triangles among the four?

Though there are things that could be better with SL II like the cases, the themesong, and the lack of/inconsistent explanations for 3 of the original cast, but so far, the cast and their chemistry is pretty good.

u sorta have to take this series as a different story cause for one the cast is different, the pace is different...the story is alright but i find that they should really explain about myolie and ray cause in the first SL it says how they are best friends that will always support each other but in the second we do not know why sammul lost connection with them (even if he is at another firm)

i have to say one thing..bernice's character in SL1's so bumbly..i still wonder how she got passed law skool..and got thru da cases she took on..lolz..i agree dat da wh9ole chemistry and bonding of da law firm in SL1 is better..but it's always good to have something new to look on..

as for da main cast..well..the four main cast members in SL1..at that time..all 4 were already quite reknowned and established already..as for the main 4 in SL2..they're still really new and they've not had many leading or prominent roles..da oni "veteran" of da 4 is sammul.. so when they're looked/compared as a whole..i think tat's why da cast of SL2 lost out a bit..i mean.. yea..it's true tat kenneth has been around for as long as i can remember..but most of those roles tat he has taken upon are mostly supporting roles..i think this is one of his first main lead roles??sorry if i'm mistaken...

the replacement of myolie, raymond and bernice is a good move i think..it gives da opportunity to bring out more new characters and more new talent.. if part 2 was again featuring da 4..then it's easy for da drama to turn bland if da story line and stuff's not fully effective..

I think it would have been too costly of a production if they kept all the good actors/actress since they are all now famous....
But i don't mind having a new set of actors/actress for 2 .. it has been good so far . but I wish they explained what happened to them at least

Here is my personal opinion. The was a successful formula already cast back in 2003. If TVB changed the casts and put in new characters instead, then they are changing the formula. If the formula changed from the original formula, then the story is different. If they are trying to stuff this story down our throat hoping that it will have the same success as the first story, then the TPTB are in dreamland. There are many past examples of what would happen if this was done. The TPTB has not down their homework. Well, maybe it might get better since the holiday is over now. But, my educated guess and opinion is … good luck.

it doesn't really make much sense to make a sequel without 3 out of the 4 main characters but i quite like the chemistry between kenneth and ella. maybe they should have given the series another name and change the sammul background bit?? cos then it'll just seem like a series based in a law firm

Whatever happened has already happened and there’s nothing can be done about it. For those die-hard viewers of this current story, just enjoy it. Enjoy the casts and characters that are here for you to enjoy and being portray. Just don’t expect any high hope for any fantastic feats regarding this series, because it’s not going to happen. The die has been cast and it can not be retreated. TVB will probably distribute this story internationally oversea and if the outcome is good, they might recover some expenditure for their bottom line. It’s just not going to come out of my pocket. Enjoy while you all still can.

I don't think it's necessarily a 'bad' thing, coz so far Survivor's Law II is an enjoyable series. But I just don't like how TVB "tried" to make a sequel out of the original series by keeping Sammul, yet, kicking out Ray, Myo and Bernice. What I think they should've just done is to cast four totally new actors and make a totally new storyline... which is 70% what they've already done anyway.

But I still like the original cast more in terms of characterization and chemistry. But I'm not against this new cast either.

i thought that the change was necessary cos there was no further room for development in terms of myolie/raymond unless there was a third party. Also, SL2 can be treated as a stand alone series because of the new cast

- I agreed that this should be treated as a separate series because of the new casts; however, I have one problem here. This series as the same title as the first series. It’s a sequel to the first story and I considered that to be the same. It makes me feel that whatever success this one has, it is riding on the camel back of the first series. If this should be consider as a standalone series, it should have a different title to it and should be rated on its own merits.

I think Sammul should leave lol not Raymond. Raymond did very well in the first series, so did Myolie. But Kenneth is a very good replacement so I dont really mind of the change.

i support the new cast. survivors law II just finished and i think it was a great series. i wish raymond was in it, but it was still good!!!!

Actually, we cant really compare both series although the title of the show does show great smilarity. Both series has got their own style, and different cases different story different characters. And sometimes, changing characters does not mean it does more harm to the other and affect the audiences level of appreciation towards the show. Changing characters may bring a better idea and image to the new actors/actresses. But if im the one choosing and comparing, i think i'll prefer SL2.

I think I agree w/ smelyboi. SL had a great cast but I think SL 2 is not bad. People always think that changing the cast will totally affect the 2nd part. But in this one, I think its going great. Kenneth is good, Ella is not bad as well, Sammul and Selena are good. I think giving other people a chance can make audience like them more. I wouldn't say replacing Bernice, Raymond, and Myolie is good or bad. Each part had sorta different storyline.

I really loved Bernice Raymond Myolie and Sammul...they put a name to their character and I loved Survivor Law 1 and I think it was stupid of the producer to make a 2nd one just because Survivor Law had high ratings...They said they had to change the cast because Raymon, Bernice, and Myolie were filming I think they could've wait until they didn't have much filming to do...I was expecially mad with Bernice and Sammul's relationship because in the first one Bernice loved Sammul and she was always with him even when he was bad and then all of a sudden Bernice marries some random dude? Bernice would've never broken up with Sammul or make him choose his girlfirend or his career...I series didn't like this series!!

Totally like the cast in part I more then part II. Also the story was much better too. They ruin the relationship for Bernice and Sammul's just because Bernice couldn't be in the series. They did that in a bad way. They should have just spend a few extra mins with that relationship even though it was a flash back. The should have waited on this series and just release it a little sooner then to just ruin the whole story like that.

i liked Ray, Myolie and Bernice from SL1, but SL2 is not bad either...Kenneth and Ella are great too

i perferred the 1st survivors law then the sequel...
the cast in the 1st 1 was much better then the 2nd 1...
in SL I..every1 had diff roles and it went along with the plot really well..

i thought it was good and the story did flow well. kenneth and ella did steal the show, more so than raymond and bernice

In terms of cast I like Survivor's Law II better I'm surprised that Kenneth and Ella's pairing turned out so interesting definitely made a difference for the show. I think the only bad thing is that Sammul and Selena's character int he beginning were exremely boring not that interesting. It only started getting more interesting after Sammul gets his license back.

Well, when i first knew dat most of the cast had changed, i was quite dissapointed. But when i gave it a try and watched it, the cast wasnt so bad, and da pairing was quite refreshing and i loved it. But anyway, i think da 1st cast was better. But if you r lookin for somethin new, you should watch it.

Whilst not watching the whole of the first series and jumping straight to the second series it didnt feel like much of a sequel. From the sound of it, the first cast + storyline seemed really strong.

But i'm not a fan of raymonds acting as he is quite serious, so i am liking the funny humour in the sequel and the constant fights between keneth and ella. =D So i'd prefer this cast! but man sammuel's character is so strong!

After watching this series, I felt that the second's cast is as strong as the first one. Just that people are more stuck on the first one because it was the original one. Maybe because I was a bit disappointed about the first one pairing (Myolie and Raymond, Sammul and Bernice), so that's why I love this one pairing (Kenneth and Ella, Sammul and Selena)! And there isn't the messy love triangles so that both couples have enough screentime to develop their relationship and chemistry.

I must say though, that I'm a bit puzzled why Bernice will leave Sammul. Because she loved him so much to do so many things for him in the first part and they have been gone through so much before getting together so I don't understand how she can just break up with just because he refused to go over and join her overseas. Not that I'm complaining because I love Sammul and Selena!

At first i was really sad Ray,Bernice, and Myolie wasn't going to be in the sequel. Raymond was the star of the show to me. But Since Kenneth kind of continued Ray's role of a funny lawyer, that uses weird tactics to win, it's okay. Ella Koon "replacing" Myolie is okay too, since she gives a refreshing side of lawyers. Anywayse, if Ray left, whats the point of Myolie being there, when her boyfriend has left the sequel right?
But i dislike how they replaced Bernice. She was son entertaining. Naive, stuid, but bubbly. But in the sequel she was totally different. Like a different person. In the first one, she was totally inlove with Sammul, no matter what he did, even when he did something against the law. He loved him even when he had a girlfriend. So why would he make him choose between her and his career. It's totally unreasonble, but on the other hand in the first one Bernice was reasonable and understanding. Even the way she talked was different. In the first one she always said dumb-ish things, with that naive innocent tone. But in the sequel she was so mature, and sounded like a woman full of knowledge. It just doesn't make sense. And If she was the same person as the prequel, she wouldn't leave Sammul for a job, and she would NEVER love someone else and dump Sammul.
But so far the Selena and Sammul pairing works for me too, it's just the way the prequel and sequel connects isn't right, thats all.
