HOCC preview...MOOV live I believe these are the new songs on her upcoming album and she also did a rendition of a Japanese song in Japanese! There's also English songs. Hanjin pretty much wrote all the songs featured and he was there to "direct" things, if you will. THis time, Wyman isn't the only lyricist. 1. 青山黛瑪 2. 安妮寶貝 3. 楊子經書 4. Smarty Pants 5. Goo Vibration 6. Daisies 7. 愛德蒙多 8. Hero (Original performer: Mr. Children, Japanese) 9. 風見志郎 10. 美空雲雀 Encore: Goo Vibration 木紋
Having held a series of concerts at HK Coliseum is a big thing and something worth being happy about but I prefer HOCC at these small set shows. She isn't mainstream-mainstream so her fanbase isn't huge and the benefits of these small shows is that those who are truly fans and those who truly appreciate her music are packed into a small space and are able to further appreciate her work with fans who have the same mentality. There's no extra room for people who have nothing better to do so sit there like stones.

it's nice to see Kay and Khalil get the recognition they deserve. it would be nice to see Kay or Khalil win Best Female/Male singer other than the usual winners (Eason, Joey, Miriam, Leo, Hacken, Denise, etc)
it's been real boring at the awards show the past couple of years. However, a highlight at the 2006 Chik Chak awards was when EO2 got bronze for best group and Twins getting silver! that was a shocker. During Twins' heyday, they won practically every Best Group award at all the award shows.
It seems like the award shows nowadaays are giving more recognition to those who actually deserve it.
again, nice change to not see most of the awards dominated by EEG.
Wow, Juno Mak is doing okay for himself. i really hope Khalil can win Best Male Singer, but who knows whats gonna happen.

Hotcha will be doing a "concert" in December but I am not quite sure where it'll be. Probably Star Hall, maybe? They will be having male dancers & also a dance remix segment for themselves. I wonder if the sales are going to be good, since its not a "street/mall" performance.
Edit: Jason has now placed 3rd for getting the Four Stations Most Improved Award. While Vincy is 1st and Hotcha is 2nd. SonyBmg better step it up 'cause I want Jason to get it (gold) this year!! Darn it!

aww yea I want Jason to get the gold improvement too but then I think he'd need to get a song award for that right? Since it for people who's never gotten into the top10. Yea me too! I want Kay and Khalil to win too but then I think isn't it a bit to early for them to get the gold, especially since it's their first time getting into the top3 singer award? Though I agree, it'd be nice to see some change, not always the same 3 female and male singers. I care more about seeing Khalil get a song award at all four stations =) since he's never gotten one at 903, TVB, nor RTHK. Wonder if he can get the gold singer/songwriter award as well! ^^

I watched the whole moov live on youtube and really liked it. My favorites are Daisies and Hero! Daisies sounded so good even though it was just humming. Wonder how the lyrics would be like. I was surprised when she sang the Japanese song, Hero. I wonder if she'll sing a cantonese version of it in the album. She should record both a cantonese and japanese version.
Can't wait to buy this album, the topic is just so meaningful and the songs are good and hard to sing. It's the beginning of a different route Denise will be taking. She's definitely taking her career to another level. Respect and like her so much more after this project.

To get the 4 Stations Most Improved, a newcomer must rack up the airplays this year. Jason was placed 1st but since he has no more plugs for nearly 2 months, he went down to 3rd place. Hotcha & Vincy started to plug songs off of their new albums, and it's getting great response. Placing, Vincy as 1st place and Hotcha as 2nd.
The one thing I dislike about SonyBMG is that they don't push their artistes to get awards or get lots of functions to do. If they did that, maybe it will boost up the popularity of their artistes. But "Change" was a complete disaster for Jason this year.
On a side note, has anyone heard of Keeva's new plug; 火滾?
EDIT: I LOVE MYOLIE'S EP!!

I know this post might seem completely off-topic to the HK Music General Discussion, but I can't find anywhere else in this forum to ask this question. Sorry if I had asked in the wrong place! The reason why I am asking here is because it involves HK singers & TVB artistes.
Question: If there are any members here living in Vancouver, I am just wondering if the 2009 SUCCESS Fundraising Gala is confirmed yet? I know it's too early to ask, but I'm just curious to know if it will be held (since there's no news about it in the SUCCESS website). If it will be held, I believe it will be on Sunday, February 1, 2009, since that's the 7th Day of the Lunar New Year (which is the day it is usually held in previous years).
If anyone knows any information about this - please let me know! Thanks so much for your help and I'm sorry if I posted this in the wrong place! Cheers!

^ hey boa_fan! haven't seen you posting in a while. Hmm interesting predictions! You think that Joey will surpass Miriam/Khalil/Kay for Best Album??
Latest News:
- Rumored East Asia boycott of RTHK. If everyone remembers, Denise was left out of the Top 10 singers last year for RTHK and she did not attend the awards ceremony, the relationship was definitely strained. EA reportedly backed her and had all their singers not attend the RTHK press conference yesterday. Andy Lau, Ivana, Denise, Wilfred, Bosco, and Andy Hui were absent. - Wilfred & Ivana "confirmed" the boycott when they were at Cherry Wong's debut press conference. Ivana said she had gotten the t-shirt ready the night before, when EA called her and said she did not need to attend. - EA response: Singers were busy and pointed out that EA includes A-Music & CMD as well and that Miriam, Jill, and Fama were present. - Miriam said that she is not sure, but she represents A-Music and will support the music ceremonies as a Hong Kong singer. She will be attending only THREE of the ceremonies, because of filming, she cannot attend RTHK. - Other reports said that Miriam is still pissed at Leon and will move to East Asia. They're citing her Mandarin album will now being handled by EA. Supposedly the worst incident was Leon not inviting Miriam to participate in the charity concert series which he asked Janice & Guang Liang. Also, A-Music was not helping Miriam accept jobs but always saying she's busy. EA started helping Miriam out by helping her accept jobs. And A-Music was not helping her with the awards, and later Peter Lam said that will use EA to support Miriam.
Hmm Bosco's debut album has 6 new songs..anyone see the cover? it's so odd that there's another female in the album cover as well..

Jacky Cheung will be directing a new musical next year, but will not perform in it.
I think controversy is needed at award ceremonies. Speaking from my own perspective, I really don't care of the outcome, I don't get all riled up about it, but I do like guessing what each award ceremony is going to do. And I think that's the essence of controversy by 903 and TVB. Especially with the tracking system of 903 now, who would watch the award ceremony knowing ALL the eventual winners? I also think that's the reason why I'm not big on the Metro ceremony. Controversy really does keep people talking and keeps people watching. I think there are only 2 ways people get hooked (1) controversy, or (2) judging on quality. Since HK doesn't have the latter, they have to go with the former.
As for Hacken, with 今夕是何年, I'm just disappointed. First impressions are important and he didn't give me a good impression as to what's to come. Ever since the success of his "Concert Halls" I thought he really had the biggest leeway of anyone in the industry to try new things. I liked that he and Universal put a second version of "Concert Hall" out to test the market and with the success they stopped there to avoid any boredom. This was his green light to try new things out, to be different, to be modern because if things don't work out he can always rely on a third "Concert Hall" and that is ONE HECK of an advantage no one else in the industry has.
"My Cup of Tea" wasn't all that successful, so move on. When I heard he was getting the "7 Scholars" I really thought he was going to try something new and take a risk. But with 今夕是何年 turning into classic Hacken, I'm just disappointed. This is no longer the late 80's-early 90's of classic Cantopop. This is the 21st century, where music has evolved in HK. Rap has become mainstream, R&B is the genre of choice, pop-rock to rock has become a full blown genre by newcomers. The 21st century is no longer about what your vocals can do, it's about how you fit to each genre. Everyone in his generation has either tried something new or challenged themselves and I seriously thought this was Hacken's turn to mold himself to each song and not turn each song in "classic Hacken." But I'm not concluding that his whole album will be "classic Hacken", I'll definitely give him a fair chance, but it doesn't look good.
Now to Myolie, the more I listen to 單身旅行 the more I think she really has some sort of music gene in her. The way she intreprets the music (namely the first minute) is really awesome. So definitely props to who was directing her. Just FYI to all Myolie fans, the new singers that I usually think has potential usually don't get much exposure. Maybe it's because I usually like singers who are underdogs and don't get much exposure to begin with, but I wouldn't get my hopes up that they would be extremely successful. On the bright side, at least none of those who I think have potential disappear from the industry.

Hey, I was watching the same show too haha ... Bosco's performance was shocking (in a bad way) ...
He sang 4 songs:
- The first song was the sub-theme to Dicey Business, but he sang it considerably bad as he was often out of breath and off-tune ... - The second song was his first plug 全角度愛你 ... he fared better in this song, but his singing was still not good quality ... - After the second song, he took off his more "formal" clothing (in public) to reveal a muscle shirt. This was because he was going to sing fast songs, so he needed to look appropriate for it lol ... he put on a vest, hat, and some mittens to complete his "look" haha ... - The third song he sung was a classic Aaron Kwok fast song (forgot the name) ... he didn't even dance in this song ... the backup dancers did the work ... his singing was actually alright for this one ... - The fourth song was his latest plug "Hey Boy" ... he completely lip-synced in this song (probably because it's just plugged & he never sang this song live before so he wasn't prepared) ...
Overall, I guess I quite enjoyed his performance (although his singing was bleh). I enjoyed it because I admire Bosco as an actor, so it was great seeing him perform. I have to give him props because this was probably his first live performance with so many songs. All in all, it was great seeing Bosco, but he just needs to improve on his singing (especially live) because he is a singer now.

One part of Bosco's performance was just so awkward. He was singing a fast song (I'm assuming the third song) and it looked like he should be dancing but he wasn't. This makes me wonder - how many TVB actor-singers actually want to become singers?

LOL, I thought the shocking thing would be if Bosco actually gave a GOOD performance.
So apparently Andy Lau said today that he's highly likely that he will go to JSG but will not go to RTHK because of filming. But he said there is no boycott of RTHK from EA. If he does go to JSG, he's gonna get Asia Most Popular Male Singer again..just hope TVB doesn't choose to give him Most Popular as well..
There are some entertaining 903 clips on youtube where the singers are asked questions about their own MVs. There's Joey, Jan, Elanne, Stephanie, Pakho, Kary, Sherman, Jill so just click on the member for the rest of the vids. Here's Sherman's:

however, there's been no news about it as of yet, so I was just wondering if any (Vancouver) members in this forum know of any "inside scoop" about this event ...
I so agree with you about the third song that Bosco sang ... he should of been dancing but instead he was just standing in one place making some hand gestures/movements ... In my opinion, I don't think he's fit to be a singer ... especially after seeing him struggling with the first song that he had sung at the Miss Chinese Toronto Pageant ... it was a slow song, but he was out of breath which caused him to be out of tune ... You made a good note about how many TVB actor-singers actually want to become singers ... now it makes me wonder if they were "forced" to become singers just to be more popular ...
Raymond Lam on the other hand is an excellent singer ... he has such a good strong voice and he can also sing well live ... his acting is also great ... he's a good example of a successful TVB actor turned singer ... I think that TVB wants Bosco to be like Raymond, which is to be successful in both acting and singing ... but not everyone can act good and sing good, so they shouldn't be forced to do something that they're not strong at ... however, I might be completely wrong about my assumption that Bosco was "forced" to become a singer ... it might of been his intention after all, so I'm sorry if I had offended anyone regarding this!
I find that Bosco's singing voice is kind of weak, which is why I don't think he's suitable to be a singer ... I feel that he should concentrate on acting since he's good at it & he should offer more breakthrough roles to the audience if he really wants to excel as an actor ... Does anyone find Bosco's style (as a singer) to be similar to William Chan? What's similar is that their songs are more upbeat (dance) songs & their voices are of mediocre quality ... However, I'm guessing that both can dance well so they have an advantage ... just my thoughts, so again, I'm sorry if I had offended anyone!

It was just me or Serving you of Janice is a disappointed for me. Dun get me wrong, her voice is still great but the songs . All the songs sounds similar to her previous albums, nothing much change. It made the album boring. I waited for a great coming back of Janice, but Serving you is not tat great. For an album, it's ok, but no change, no breakthrough, no surprise. And I wonder why only Reality is Eng song. Janice is better wit Eng songs than Canto songs. Reality is the best song of Serving you, too. At least it's has a nice chorus.
Myolie's EP is good, but too many old songs or songs released. Listen to her album give me old feeling, cuz I listened most of the songs. The worst song, sorry all Bosco fans, but it's Bosco-Myolie's duet. I like Bosco as an actor, but singing isn't something for him. He ruined the duet, especially when they sing together. They adjust his voice to louder, but then we can hear he breaths hard. On the other hand, Vincent - Myolie duet is beautiful.
Bosco's EP 's name is In love with Bosco. It's very weird for the cover when the face of the girl appears in it. I dun like the name, too. I think I'll give it a try, but not sure if I can give good comment on it or not. Bosco's voice is weak, he should stick at acting. BTW, no MV wit the EP, tat means Bosco will have version 2 like Linda?

Yeah I actually do see the semblance btw William & Bosco. The good thing for Bosco is that 全角度我愛你 does not annoy me as much as William's "Taxi."
I wish East Asia used the money to sign Bosco to sign Rannes & Vega instead.
As for Janice's "Serving You"... There was some hope of something different after the first plug of 無所謂, but I kind of expected this kind of album after she plugged 雜技 and 如水. Nevertheless, it's still disappointing because she spent 2 years on making this album. Hopefully the good sales means that Leon will open her up to do other songs. It's getting too repetitve though it's just nice to see her back and singing especially with that beautiful voice of hers. She is plugging 就算世界無童話. Does anyone know which song is the one that Janice composed?
For Myolie, the only song that I didn't like was 時間不等我. I thought the beginning of 浪漫世紀 was boring but then the chorus really saved the song for me. As for the Bosco-Myolie duet, I didn't think it was bad at all, because mostly Myolie carried the song and she mostly covered his voice when their voices were singing together. So it covered Bosco's inadequacies as a singer. But of course, Vincent & Myolie duets are way better. Is it just me or does Myolie's voice sound different in 豬小姐 than in the rest of the songs? It sounds higher and sweeter to me, wonders if it was because of the weight gain... All in all, a good effort by Myolie.

Yes, Myolie carried the song but they adjust Bosco's voice in the CD. I find the different between the CD version and the version in WOIL2. I think they did tat to make Myolie's voice not too overshadow Bosco's. But it makes Bosco's breath sound very clearly.
I also hope tat Leon will give Janice better songs to show her beautiful voice. 2 years lacking of Janice, her coming back wit 15.000 CDs in a day is a big welcome.

I agree with your thoughts on Janice's "Serving You." Most of the tracks in the album were ballads, which didn't make the album as a whole stand out. Although I liked alot of the ballads in this album, I wished there were some upbeat fast tracks as I was expecting that from a 14-track album ... nevertheless, I still enjoyed this album because I really missed listening to Janice and her beautiful voice ... 2 years was such a long (and unnecessary) wait, so it's great to finally listen to her again with her new songs ...
The song that Janice composed was "My Cookie Can." I quite liked this song because it was distinct from the rest of the tracks in the album. It was one of the more upbeat tracks in the album. Good job to Janice for composing & singing such a good song!
Do you think that Janice will get any awards at the year-end awards ceremonies? Since she released several plugs/singles before this album was even released, she should of gotten a fair amount of airplays, right? But she's not even in Top 10 Female in CRHK, so what are her chances of getting any awards in CRHK? What's her position as of now? Since her album is released now with quite a few new songs, it's her chance to "catch up" now and get "plugging" away ... as she's plugging 就算世界無童話, I think that's a good choice cause that's such a good & touching song ... hopefully it will do well in the charts for all 4 stations so that she could garner some awards @ the year-end awards ceremonies ...
My guess is that she might for sure get one of the top 10 songs at the JSG awards ceremony ... what are everyone else's thoughts on Janice and the year-end awards ceremonies?

Fiona's new plug, 甜蜜蜜 is (once again) composed by Khalil, and penned by Wyman. I actually can't wait for her album!!
As for Janice's "Serving You," it's a decent album. Her soulful and empowering voice lives up to the standards of the songs. The one of many things that I don't like about, "Serving You" is *cough* Mark Lui*cough*. I cannot believe that he produced every song, and the song selections were not as good. Leon is a failure at promoting/selecting songs! I don't think Leon is capable of being a boss in every single aspect. How many people think that Janice will leave Amusic when her contract is up?
Things aren't looking good for Janice at the year-end awards, lol
Edit: Doesn't "My Cookie Can," sound like an R&B song. I think it might be the best song composed on the album. Btw, 2 or 3 of the songs are remakes, lol!

I gotta agree although there a several good songs on the album. Many of the slow songs are kinda boring. I wish they'd allow Janice to work on other genres besides pop. The album doesn't even seem to have a theme. The song she composed, My Cookie Can, really stands out among the songs. Still wishing for something different.

Dec 2 2008 12 40 AM
My Cookie Can isn't composed by Janice; it is composed by Mark Lui. It appears that the song Janice composed didn't even make it on the album.
Out of the 14 tracks of "Serving You", I think Janice gave her best performance in "Reality". It gives a jist to how Janice's music originally was, back during "Day & Night" days. I don't even think that Janice herself likes to be canned into the commercial love songs category because she definitely sounded excited when she spoke about how 就算世界無童話 is not a song about romance, but rather an encouragement to life. I wouldn't be surprised if she's going towards a rebellion stage, considering that she already announced that she will not be attending awards ceremonies at the end of the year, and I'm quite sure Janice knows that she is being limited severely when she has so much more potential.
All in all, "Serving You" is basically another compilation of songs where Janice's voice saves the day. It's still something to listen to, but far less than Janice's entire potential. There are a few songs on there that are still a big blur to me with the similarities, but I quite like 寒命 and 你知道我在等你們分手嗎 for the love songs, but the latter was catchy to me with its title alone.

As a diehard Stephy fan... of course I listened to her newest album, The Red Album. (F for originality... seriously >.<) Anyone else give it a listen?
Beginning with the noodle song, I thought to myself, what the hell is Paco doing with her and Kary. And AHHH STEPHY WHAT THE HELL is up with your singing.
Then the love songs came and boom they were good in my opinnion. Really really love 冷靜 and 京都之雪. I think Stephy handled the song pretty well and hopefully her live performances won't result in the lightbulb massacre.
Also listened to Sherman's new album Thunder Party. I absolutely love 分手的記憶's melody and 眼睛不說謊's lyrics. With songs like these two, I do not know why EEG decided to plug 野百合. I really hate 野百合 >.<
As for Janice, never was a fan of her, I still find her quite overrated. And with the listen to her 2 earlier plugs, I still don't find a passion for her. I don't think she will get an award from 903+TVB, and Metro will give her one cuz everyone gets one at metro.

Me too just reading the title, "你知道我在等你們分手嗎" already caught my attention. Really like the melody and lyrics. Huh? really? but on Yesasia they said it was composed by Janice Oo Weird. Maybe that's why she was frozen? But seriously Amusic should allow her to do the kind of music she likes. I'm a Janice fan yet am sick and tired the same genre. She should be able to explore more. I also wish her album would stop looking like a compilation of songs and would have a specific theme that pulls the songs together.
^ oo I like Endy's new song! What's going to happen to Zarahn?
"My Cookie Can" is my favorite song on "Serving You" it's catchy and refreshing from all the ballads. Urgh, what is up with Mark Lui. He certainly gave Kelly variety on "Kellylicious"..maybe Kelly's the only artist that is able to benefit from working with Mark after the initial phase. As for year-end awards, I think the only real shot is Metro. It's definately too late for 903 to catch up and Janice has barely shown up at JSG. I would expect Janice's contract with AMusic to be longgg..but Leon should just merge Amusic with East Asia. He is not doing a good job managing OR picking songs, though an improved job with "Wonder Miriam" (though wonders if that's more Miriam's input).

I wouldn't be surprised if she's going towards a rebellion stage, considering that she already announced that she will not be attending awards ceremonies at the end of the year
I thought Janice was in the rebellion stage with her disappearance for almost 2 years? She definately was in the "freezer"
I just heard 甜蜜蜜 and it is interesting song, has the "Fiona" flavor. Most people are afraid that 903 will ban it because it is composed by Khalil. I'm definately looking forward to the new album, just from the first 3 plugs.
As for Sherman's Leona Lewis' cover, it doesn't compare to the original. Sherman doesn't have the crispness (?) of Leona's voice. But I don't think it's bad, Sherman gives the song another flavor.
Some News: - Jolin signed with Warner, leaving 金牌大風 - Justin is plugging 雲 - Leo is plugging 花不痛 - Stephy is plugging 童謠 (definately better than her last 2 plugs) - Ella is plugging 假如我是一張中國畫 (wonders what tvbaddict thinks of it, since it's composed by Jun) - Khalil Fong's album has a name, <Orange Moon> - December 19 (like the cover, feels fresh!)
Anyone see the Hocc Charity Promos uploaded by Denise?? Quite funny and entertaining! Miriam The cherries on Miriam's shirt is funny. at17

Yeah....that 'Better in Time' version by Sherman isn't really that good.....I think Vincy would have done a better job with it.

haha I wasn't sure if I would post Hocc's clips but glad you did! You guys gotta watch the one with Eason! He's so funny! I think the one with him is the best promo clip yet lol. all the clips plays Denise's "Goo Vibration" song http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uv87prIl4Ro
Oh...so Khalil's album is releasing sooner Oo thank goodness cause Denise's album is releasing around that time and I want to wait for Khalil's album before buying online. So far Khalil's new album is really convincing, I really like the english song, "A Singalong song".
I'm dissapointed that they didn't have the english version of "Love in this word". He sang a little of the english lyrics on the Cartier promo and I liked it alot. I agree on the cover too, it's refreshing and the autumn background is so peaceful; I like his outfit too.

omg I think that "JoSi luen" (Joey and Hocc) thread has really gotten into me AHHH!!! In the promo clip of Eason with Goo Vibration playing in the background I heard the words "In Motion"!!!
Miriam was way too rushed.
What is so interesting about the name 你知道我在等你們分手嗎? Judging by name it sounds like another typical HK ballad.

^ LOL, sport388 and princess_kazumi are gonna be real happy to hear you say that
OMG, the Eason promo clip is the funniest, his expressions . The beginning of the Eason clip reminds me of Constance grooving to Goo Vibration. She's sooo cute!!! Looks a lot like Hillary.
oO I like "A Singalong Song" Khalil sounds so smooth in English!!
tvbaddict: Ella's 24小時表演 is also composed by Jun. Boy, the two songs have such different feels. I hope Ella does get around to plugging 24小時表演, love the song as well.
Denise's new album is set for December 12th.
So in a cost saving expense, TVB is no longer filming mvs. YAY! They 98% of the time sucked anyway, definately no loss.
Anyone like Deep's 繁星流動?? I just like it Hope Deep can make it, he's been languishing for so long..

lol seems like someone thinks more than me. I think it was either "e...motion" or "in...motion" lol I think it really was "in motion" she was just making up the lyrics even for the recorded version. Really like how it sounds like live and seems so raw, not all perfect which is great.
Though I think someone in here doesn't like Janice =P I want to post a new clip of her! She played the guitar and sang parts of "Big Girls Don't Cry" I think she does so much better with english songs. Somehow I wish Janice could sing something like that for her albums! Even for her first concert when asked if she'd have a guest who'd she want, she said KHALIL because she knows he writes classic Rnb and Soul songs! I'd so rather hear Janice sing Rnb then her pop ballads right now! I like Janice + guitar performances so much better. She should do that more it makes the performance more interesting and she looks cool playing it.

Ella's 24小時表演 is definitely different from 假如我是一張中國畫, I prefer 假如我是一張中國畫 because it's more Jun... harhar.

Does anyone think that Hins Cheung will win any awards at the year-end JSG (TVB) Top Ten Awards? Apparently, TVB had only plugged 1 song of Hins this year, and that was 他的故事. What was strange was that 櫻花樹下 was also "plugged" (as seen on this link: http://tvcity.tvb.com/jsg/billboard/html/20080618.html) as TVB made an MV for it, but this song never made it into the charts ... I am wondering what is up with TVB and plugging only 1 song of Hins when he had alot of plug-worthy songs in his album "Urban Emotions." Is it because of relationship problems or he just didn't have the time to film MVs (which is the way songs are plugged under the JSG system).

Honestly after hearing out several albums, I think GEM Tang, Joyce Cheng, Raymond Lam, Myolie (maybe, her songs are good, but her singing is only so-so), Linda Chung (technique in songs from album was very good...however, her voice is clearly lacking when sung live), Hins Cheung, Ella Koon, Jill Vidal, the classic staple Miriam Yeung and Joey Yung all deserve an award. Now, if only dreams could come...

I don't believe Andy Lau released a brand new album, but he did release one or two new Mandarin songs. That would be enough for TVB to give him a top 10 song and Asia's Favorite.
Off Ella's "Stages" 假如我是一張中國畫 is my 2nd most favorite song (I absolutely love how the song keeps questioning "how are you going to draw me?") so I'm glad she's plugging the song. Although I don't see it doing very well on the charts unless it runs into early next year.
Janice's "Serving You" is definitely a treat for all those who like traditional Janice. However, I agree that it's too similar to all her past albums. Then again, it's not that big of a deal because she does sound good in those songs. So here are my complaints: 1. Mark Lui AGAIN. When I saw the credits, I immediately understood why Janice seemed to have been "frozen." I've said before that Janice seems to be more pop-rock/rock/punk than anything else, but Mark Lui doesn't do any of those. 2. The English, and this applies to Justin also. I know and appreciate that the two of them have great English, but they seriously need to stop with all the English in their songs and albums. One or two occassionally is okay, but NOT in every single album. 3. With that said, you can clearly hear that Janice can better interpret a song in English. With every song that has even a line of English, you could hear that her voice flows that much better during those lines.
Myolie's "Evolve," I think Myolie excels in 2 areas: 1. the lower notes, and 2. the sweet voice. She definitely sounds good in the songs 單身旅行 and 幸而, and if you can take the sweet voice, she sounds good in 豬小姐 and 感激遇到你. But everything that's in between doesn't quite work well. Her voice just doesn't quite match the flow of the song when she's in her "comfort" notes.
I feel Ella and Wilfred have similar music career paths (with Ella having a couple of actual big hits). No one really questions their abilities to sing, but they just can't seem to get the spotlight for even one year. However, they know enough people in the industry to do things on the side, to make their income, and survive to release albums every so often. The two of them are also pretty outgoing in the crazy way, which is a trait much necessary to survive in the industry. I think they should both sign with Paco. If anyone can give them their year of fame, it's Paco.
I don't know if anyone's mentioned this, but director of Metro Chu Ming Yui announced that Paco/Gold Label have decided to boycott Metro, so he decided that they have "given up/surrendered" and therefore, no awards will be given to any of their artists.
Chu Ming Yui implies (though he does not outright say) that Paco decided to boycott due to the issue of # of awards given to his artists. By saying that Paco/Gold Label "surrenders" it means that they are not giving them any awards because of their forefeit and not because Metro is upset with them. The media is rumoring that Paco is upset that, once again, Eason will win more awards than Leo. However, fans are rumoring that Paco is upset that Metro had a dinner to "unfreeze" their relationship with Universal last year, but did not do the same with his company this year.
My 2 cents for this year is the same is last if we're talking about the # awards rumor. Paco cannot possibly think that his artists will win more awards than Universal. Not with the criticism of Stephy received earlier in the year, not with song popularity reversal between Kary & Kay, not with Mr. & Jin on Universal's side.

Lol it's just that you guys were saying how "Sleeping w/ butterflies" is probably a song that expresses her feelings towards Hocc (=.=) so when I heard "in motion" I thought of that. No, I am not thinking more than you because "in motion" is much more obvious while "sleeping with butterflies" is a more subtle "connection."

Me? All I've said was that it wasn't an interesting title... I just had a listen to the song and i think it's pretty good. "My Cookie Can" on the other hand is a more catchy title imo. I'm not sure why you came to the conclusion that me thinking that Janice's song title isn't interesting = I don't like Janice....
In 你知道我在等你们分手吗 is it just me or does she have an accent on the word "sam" (heart)? or is it because she's singing out of her nose?
