To me, I think the chorus of 可歌可泣 makes the song stand out from a song like 愛怪物的你 . Agreed that the melody is somewhat lacking, I expected more from CY Kong. It feels like a classic Joey song that she hasn't really done these past few years. But for me, the song is still far from the quality of 與蝶同眠

-Mark went to college with Karen Mok & CY Kong, so when he and CY did their own music, they would tell Karen to sing in their demos so they could send it to HK and people would be interested in Karen's voice rather than their music (lol).
-James Wong was like a dad/mentor to him because his best friend is Lam Yin Lei's son. He also stated that 愛得太遲 is kinda written for James because him and 林夕 both feel the same way towards James after he passed away.
-He said that Stephy is actually pretty calm & stable in the studio (and he states that he's not only saying this because they're both in the same company) but sometimes people can get nervous/unexpected things can happen during live performances because of their headset/atmosphere/audience.
-The hardest person to work with was Sandy Lam because she's too perfect and they don't know which song to put out officially because most of their takes can be the official one.

I think Cass's album is better because even if I didn't know the song, I would be able to listen to it because of whatever reason... but Bondy's album is jazzy/boringish. I'm not familiar with most of the songs either, but if it was that good then it would capture the listener, and in this case I wasn't captured. Her voice is another story though =).

I'm not sure how they did the nominees for the song awards, since it's obviously more than the songs from the 1-3rd seasonal. Anyway some interesting things to note from the nominees that I've noticed...

- Twins is not on the group nominations; Charlene is billed solo for the female singer awards
- Albert Chau is not on the male newcomers list
- They brought back the duet award (and Raymond/Vincy isn't on it!!) - OMG Kevin/Niki & Alex/Stephy & ESP. the TVB various artists (shudder) better not win over Pakho/Steph

I thought the Colleen & GEM performance was terrible. I never thought that I would say that the Linda & Myolie duet was better than a Colleen & GEM duet, but this was the case on JSG..Colleen was fine and really good, but GEM, I know this is the way she sings, but she did not regard Colleen. She just kept powering through the song - as if she was the only one singing and several times, you could see Colleen stopped singing to let GEM continue. GEM didn't really adjust to the song and her duet partner. Though it's understandable, GEM explained that it was because she was sick & they didn't know how the duet would sound during practice cuz she lost her voice.



Haha I would give Terry the Gold but Albert would definately place for me! But I think Albert Chau works for a rival network ..so that might explain his absence.

I did not like Gem's performance. I totally agree with everything that themissingpiece said. GEM can really sing, her voice is very strong, but she is still unable to control her voice as well as I would have liked. Sometimes singing isn't just about the vocals or the skills, but rather how well your voice blends in with your partner, the bg music, and many other factors. To me, GEM still needs time to mature her voice, train herself so that her voice doesn't plough through every other thing in a song. Nonetheless that performance shows what strong vocals she has.

I like Linda/Myolie's duets... I found their voices soothing. But I am reluctant to accept either of them as a full time singer, after watching so many of their series, it just seems so awkward for me.

Anxiously waiting for the results of the awards ceremonies...

100% agree. Particularly the first line of what I quoted from you! Put so well For GEM, who has such an explosive voice, I think it's probably harder for her than other singers to do. And while Sherman & GEM have some similarities in their voices, this is probably once aspect that Sherman is better at. But GEM is still very young so that's definately something that she can work on.

I doubt Kay will get the media award as well, though it might be kinda close. That's cuz Joey is nominated/has a chance at winning in more categories. At CRHK, Kay will get Top Song, but dats not separate from Top 10 so towards the media award its pretty much the same as any other song award. Kay will get Gold/Silver, but Joey will also get Gold/Silver. Kay will get Favourite Song, but if they follow the AP Joey will get Best Album. Meanwhile both have equal chances at winning Favourite Female. So at CRHK, there's a chance Joey and Kay will win the same # of awards.

At JSG, Joey definitely has the edge. Aside from Most Popular Female, Joey will probably also win a mando song award and a commercial song award, as well as a Top 10 song award. Meanwhile Kay will only get a Top 10 award and perhaps an Improvement award.

At RTHK, i actually think Joey will win the same # of awards or more. Kay will the World's Best Chinese Song Award, but Joey will win Best Selling Female as well as Country's Most Popular HK Female Singer. Meanwhile, both will win a Top Ten Song and a Top Ten Artist award, and both has an equal chance at Best Female Singer.

I totally support thylakoid. Miriam is HIGHLY overrated and she does not deserve the many awards given to her. Don't wanna offend people but I find Miriam is the singer that slipped the most in terms status, or should I say likeability of songs? I personally lost all interest in Miriam. Eason is just Eason and he has to keep winning awards, well cuz its Eason... >.< Just the name Eason pretty much equals 2-3 awards, so it's no surprise that he took home 5. But I do agree the two did have a subpar year when compared to Kay/Hins/other singers.

Of the 4 with 4 awards each (Kay, Miriam, Hins, Denise), Miriam had a better year charting than 2 of them (Hins, Denise). Kay has the edge at 903, but otherwise Miriam had a good year (much better than last year - she fought her way back into 903's Top 3 Female singers). So I think her 4 awards are well deserved. and Eason is just Eason, plus GL was a no-show, meaning nothing for Leo.

If we're talking undeserved, Andy Lau with 3 awards.

This is her first year being formally recognized for a Gold Song by the 4 stations and this is a start, and like boa_fan and blah has described, she really doesn't have an edge going into the other award ceremonies, besides CRHK, and Joey should do fine in that as well. If all it took was a hit song to get the media award, Hins would have gotten it last year.

Plus, you can count out Denise/Leo/Andy Lau for the media award. These 3 all have 1 station that will not award them.

^ you mean crhk....lol ppl find it a fair ceremony. i just think not and completely disagree with half of their top 10 songs of the year each year. other than tvb, that is 2nd to tvb as to the most unfairest...but then again, this is my opinion

hins didn't have the best song last year in terms of overall performance, it was leo ku's loving too late...

if you look back 2 years, eason had the 2 best songs in sunset...something, and his friend song and mt. fuji's song split in 2006 in the awards ceremony i think.

in 2004, my pride was best song and joey won the media award...i think having the best song is a good indication of the media award...i mean of course if you just have the song it's not enough, but kay is int he running for at least silver and bronze for favorite female singer in some cermonies

^lol i think u've got all ur years messed up. Loving Too Late was in 2006 and that was when Leo was the fav to win the media award. And My Pride was 2003 not 2004

and i agree with themissingpiece, one hit song isn't enough. When Joey won in 2003 it wasn't just cuz of My Pride, she had several big hits that year as well as a good concert series. Same as Eason in 2005, it wasn't just cuz of "sunset", it was cuz U87 was an amazing album had had several #1 songs. Kay did improve HEAPS this year but she didn't really have THAT many hit songs this year compared with Joey in 2003/2004, Eason in 2005/2007, Leo in 2006.
