I can't wait to watch CJ7, Stephen Chow's original!! I think I will love it anyway tongue.gif Go Stephen!!
invisibleninja82
CJ7 is out?!?!? Is it any good? Anyone see it yet? I love Stephen Chow.

That Kelly Chen movie looks interesting...

I'll definitely have to watch Kung Fu Dunk just because of the comic.
jjding
Stephen Chow is the only movie from the list that I'm looking forward to!! The rest are not so interesting.

I love movies about sports but Kung Fu Dunk, I think will likely be more of an idol type of movie instead.
Twinsy_Anime

ococ

I'm going to see Three Kingdoms at the cinema tonight... looking forwards to The Forbidden Kingdom too!

Are there any updates on movies for the summer?

i wanna watch kung fu dunk... is it good?.. i heard its a bit exaggerated...welll eric tsang and jay chow is there soooo i bet its gonna be good~!

mrdreamer: i watched "Kung Fu Dunk" a couple of days ago and in my opinion, the whole film was just a mess...nothing about it remotely even resembled having to do with basketball and the storyline for the most part made no sense...if you want to watch the film because of the idols, then i guess the film isn't that excrutiating to watch...but if you want to watch a film of substance, "Kung Fu Dunk" is not that

I thought CJ7 would be more of a Stephen Chow funni movie. When I first saw this I was thinking to myself Oh yea another one of his good movies...n im gona laugh my ass off...but a lil disappointment here. THis movie reminds me of Kung Fu Hustle. Some charachters that were in that movie were in this movie and the concept of it was almost the same. Where the lil boi flew up in the air and tapped an eagle or some kind of flyin bird and came bak down. its so funni how the big chubby grl looked like a boi (I wasnt sure if it was really a boi playin a grl character or if it was really a grl but she sure did look like a boi), and she was powerful. She didnt even stand up for herself when those boiz picked on her but she showed them towards the end. This movie was more bout the lil boi and the lil green alien (which was maddd cute).

The Forbidden Kingdom's storyline sucked. It was a good idea that Jet Li and Jackie Chan did a collaboration together. The action part was good other than that nothing else was all that.

bravo...anyone knows what movies in May?
MonkeyKing
Nothing really great has come out so far this year. CJ7 was ok, different from typical Stephen Chow movies. I do want to see Shamo though.
sunnie78
can't wait to see Three Kingdoms Resurrection of The Dragon. It's going to be soooo goooood.
keroppi0809
Three Kingdom was a great film. I watched it about 3 times. I don't know much about chinese history and was told i would find the movie a bit boring but i really enjoyed it.
Rainney
its hard to find hong kong movies in cantonese this days, its not so nice to watch in mandarin because its just not the same as specially the comedy one.
TvB-AddicT
I watched Forbidden Kingdom but never knew it was in Chinese too.. LOL..

2008 Midyear Evaluation
source: http://www.lovehkfilm.com/blog/damnyoukozo/

My job requires me to do midyear evaluations for my staff, an always pleasant experience that I look forward to with unbridled enthusiasm and delight. Really, I’m totally telling the truth...

Anyway, as of July, I would consider these to be

2008’s Top 10 Hong Kong films.
In no particular order:

Run Papa Run (the #1 choice, everything else is uncertain)
Sparrow
L For Love, L For Lies
Beseiged City
Hong Kong Bronx
Playboy Cops
Shamo
City Without Baseball
Yes, I Can See Dead People
The Moss

Wow, that’s a dismal list, isn’t it? Some of the stuff that made this cut was not very good, but I had a hard time leaving them off in place of other films. There was no way that Missing, Linger, Kung Fu Dunk, or Fatal Move was making this list. They’re all more likely to make the “Worst 10″ list, though naming that right now would be useless because not much more than 20 films have been released thus far in 2008. That low number makes this the worst output from the territory since way before I was born. And I was born a while ago...
