The Hair Advice Thread
Hi, guys and girls! Welcome to the Hair Advice Thread! The AF main Health and Beauty forum is cluttered with threads all essentially asking the same thing-- how do I style my hair? Which hairstyle would suit me best? What to do if I have dry/wavy/frizzy/etc. hair? so we've created this MAIN thread to sort of organize and consolidate

Feel free to ask ANYTHING related to hair in THIS thread... or in any of the "specific problem/advice" threads listed below. Happy posting-- play nice!!

Hello again, everyone!
What hair style do you recommend for me? My front hair has a length of about 8 cm. (To the eye) Back hair is short. Now, I've applicated gel on it, and placed it a bit to the right. The lowest har level also touches the very right side of my right eyebrow. (lol@description)
Do you recommend any other ways to make a hairstyle of this?

cut it and get it layered... or if u want it long then u gotta make sure the back is nicely done as well lol. so it's ur head as a whole, not just the front.

i cant understand your description. just shave your head bald lol not fully bald but like a number 1 cut. saves you the trouble of having to shampoo your hair and when its summer its much cooler lol
whatever

Hey, guys, i really don't know what hair style is good for me, i try "number 1" but... it's just not really that cool. I see some black shave their heads and look very cool. Is asian not good for that? What websites talk or have hair styles pics to look at???
Pigyboy315
Dec 10 2004 9 21 AM
hah i think it all depends on what kinda people your talking about...the typical asian guy has the good ol fade with flat top....but if your talking about Fobs...they have so many styles...im so jealous

well as a girl..i just adore guys with lengthy hair...like...all those taiwanese hairstyles...jai jai's u know? so hot blush
and any asians with a near shaved head just looks bad...either gangster bad..or look like they are from kung fu xiao lum zee places....blah...
so i wouls say...keep ur hair long! spike it up...slick it back (no..not really actually that is bad)..apply some wax and make it messy looking...so Hot!

for boys are, u noe, that punky rocky hairstyle with spikes striking out. for girls these days... fringes everywhere. some curly, some straight as rebonding. i see those hairstyles EVERYWHERE. before this revolution of fringes, i used to have fringes too. i do too now but i put it up like boys do, haha XD then french-braided my long hair, so i had not a single hair covering muh face ^^V

How about try a split/mohawk hairstyle lol, I had that hairstyle where I had my hair was split and I spiked up the middle part like David Beckham lol, at school the teachers and my friends were like "oh you have a Beckham hairstyle now". Funny as a couple fo weeks later a couple of other dudes in my class started having a mohawk.
I don't have the mohawk anymore though, now it's just split.

for girls or guys? ...
Most of the time for girls is just that long straight (boa like) hair.. nothing wrong with it.. because it looks good, but too many, and its over played.
Guys, is fauxhawk! Thats hot.

sincerely, go to a hair-dressers' if you can! Cause even though you may find the hair styles, you can not propably excercise them. Often, though hair styles are quite difficult to put on, and you will not have 3D pictures or detailed instructions!

i've tried to grow long hair at the front so that it covers my eyes... i've done it b4 but then most of the time it starts curling and looks a bit messy after shower and when it dries off instead of coming down straight... u noe how u see celebrities like jay chow with his cool hair style on his 'incomparable' cd cover lol

' i don't use gel... maybe i should... but don't really know how much and how to use it probably... i usually jus blowdry the hair at the front up a bit.. how do i keep my hair neat and not look like a bit of a blob

i have hair like that. dont use gel, because it would harden, not good for that style. use mousse or hair stray, anything that holds hair together without harding it alot. or you can just use water to comb it. dont comb too hard. if you have just began to do this, it probably wont be straight. comb it in the same direction all the time and every time it wash your hair. over time, your hair will get use to this and would automatically tilt to that direction.

I like guys with a little long hair like Takeshi Kaneshiro ( in the film, turn left turn right) But it also depends on your face if it fits you. Or I like the hairstyles from anime (cartoon) they are soo cool. I don't like guys who shave it off.

you're going for that fobby style right? well u can't use gel, hairspray, or mousse
try molding creme, hair wax, sculpting clay
i've gone from spikes, to bangs, to messy fobby look, to bald, and i've tried MANY MANY other styles, the sculpting clay works the best imo, u just put a lil bit on, and you can style and restyle your hair any time of the day
as for straight hair, its always been an obstacle for me, if u have wavy/curly hair, cutting it all off will not help, it'll just grow back curly, u gotta either flatiron it everyday, or try chemical straightening

i try to have a different hair style every day, i have it pulled back, lay flat forward so it covers my forehead, semi split, whatever i can pull off just to look different, bangs are a great source to get noticed when having a different hair style.

spikes are the easiest and fastest hairstyle you can do.. that's gotta be my reason for spiking my hair.. however, i like my spikes short.. not long.. for some reason any hair over like 2 inch or something.. it's harder to make it stand up for me.. maybe cause i usually style it when it's wet or damp! lol
anyy1 got any good ideas and good products to use with spikes?

Have you tried a mohawk style? LOL I've had a variety of hairstyles from spikes to long hair to short but at the moment I have a mohawk hairstyle and it's also quite popular at my school as well although most who see my hair always say "how'd you get to make it like David Beckham's hairstyle?" because he's probably the most famous person to have a mohawk.

I have Jay's hair too. If you want to make it look good, you have to make it thin. Also, use Mold (Sticky and Dry) instead of Gel (Wet and heavy)...
Just make it look messy..
My recommend it dye your hair first....
it will look much better.

I got the same problem when my hair grows below eye-level.. it would curl! using gel would make my hair too heavy so it would fall/curl down after time I take a walk outside. really hate it when that happens

I used to spike my hair but I just stopped. It is a lot of work. It waste like 2 minutes of my time. Plus if your spiked hair were to be messed up by something, it will end up having flakes and you have to wash off the flakes thus the spikage is ruined for that day.
So I just grow my hair out until it covers my eyes. Plus it looks a whole lot better on me.

Why would you want hair like Jay Chow? Just because a style looks good on one person doesn't mean it will look good on you. Anyways, I advice is to just find something that fits you

Long hair may not be suitable for some guys. I prefer guys with short hair, it looks much more neater that way.

cut it kinda short and mess it up, if this is your first time dying your hair then dye it a darker color if not do whatever color suits your face. If your hair do stuffs up, only takes 2 weeks to get back to normal
