SS501 (pronounced as Double-S 501) is a South Korean boy band under management of Daesung Entertainment, also known as DSP Entertainment. ss501 is an idol group consist of 5 members, kim hyunjong, heo youngsaeng, kim kyujong, park jung min and also kim hyungjun. The 'ss' in 'ss501' stands for sun and star for the first s and the second s is for singer representing their hope and dream in the world of entertainment, the 501 also have the meaning of 5 person stands as 1. in another word ss501 representing these boys hope and dream of becoming singer and in the future will achieve their dream of becoming big stars in the entertainment worlds.

SS501 debuted in 2005 with their first single ‘warning’, which is an upbeat tempo song. From the same single album they after that come out with another song, this time a ballad entitled ‘never again’. With ‘everything’ 2005 seems to be ss501’s year when they actually manage to secure almost all best newcomer awards available. This achievement is rather impressive considering the act that they only comes out with a single album with only five song, which three of it become a hit.
In 2006, hoping to achieve the same success the have with their first single album, they come out with another single album, this time they tried their luck with another upbeat song called ‘snow prince’ which has the winter feeling to it, they also trying the cute image in this music video. The song shot straight to number one in the Korean music chart, the second song, they once again change their image to dark rockers for the song ‘fighter’, written by a famous songwriter Cho Young Soo and Ahn Young Min, this song also managed to get into top 5.
Finally after one year of debut, ss501 comes out with their first ever full album in November 2006. They have used those one year of performing with two single albums to practice more on their vocal and also live performance. However the title song of the album didn’t get the much anticipated success. This was mainly because of the competition they have during the release of the song. But the come back bouncing once again, with their second song from the album called ‘four chance/4chance’ nicely hits the no 1 in a lot of charts. Not only that they also release their first ever concert DVD title ‘step up’.
After the successes in Korea the boys finally decided the extend their market to Japan, they already has a basic fan base there due to their constant visit to that country performing and others. In mid 2007, all 5 boys departed to Japan after their farewell to Korean fans as they are now focusing on Japanese market. Making Japan as their new home they practice hard not only in singing but also in Japanese language. Finally in august 2007, they released their first ever Japanese single ‘kokoro’ debuting at number 5 in oricon chart. This is another history created by them as the first foreign artist to have their Japanese debut song in the oricon chart. Then in September they released another single ‘distance’ which once again reached number 5 in the oricon chart. On October they finally release the much anticipated self titled Japanese album, their first full Japanese album and on the day of the release the album reached the 8th spot in the oricon daily chart.
Now the boys are back in Korea planning to make a comeback in Korean entertainment world, they are planning to release their third single in February 2008. and after that in summer they will release another single before coming out with a full album in October 2008.

From the beginning, each member's performance areas will not be limited to only singing. Hyun-joong and Jung-min are interested in acting. They are currently being trained in acting and will appear on stage or screen if they have a chance to. Hyung-joon and Young-saeng will also be performing as solo singers as well as with the band. Kyu-jong, who is very much interested in making music, will undergo musical training and eventually become a producer.

ss501 ended their brief 10 days stay in korea and will head back to japan to finished off their promotion there, there's a talk about japanese album still not sure whether it is for single or full japanese album... all is fine with me...

You spelled Heo Young Saeng wrong twice.
Why does it say "Huh" for his name in his profile? that should be looked at too.

I dont think u even need the Daesung Entertainemt part, just say they are from DSP entert.

Did u write the intro urself? i think u should mention Kim Hyung Joon oppa first becuase he is the first to be picked so go on chronilogical order, less confusion.

Ok... i think its confusing but w/e its ur topic.

i looked it up and it said that the first S is either Sun or Star depending on how u see it.
And the 2nd S is singer and then five or one.
I actually like it meaning star instead of Sun cuz that makes it sound too much like DBSK

that is one day earlier from kyu's b'day
most probably so that they can obtain the maximun response with the fans along side with kyu's big day...

their forth single which is scheduled this sumer is to be said going to be a digital single
so guys wait for that one...

damn there are lots of stuff that you looked up to put a good description of the boys. I didn't even know the beginning of how LHJ and BHJ was choosen, all i knew was that DSP picked up YS from SM town and kj and jm were chosen off auditions. I can't believe bhj was the first to be picked and waited that long until the rest were picked.

Adjuhma did u know that SS guest starred on Nonstop5?

i didnt but i found the episode with them so yay! They are in episode 207.
But Hyun Joong oppa isnt there cuz he appeats in episode 208.
Its kinda weird how they didnt appear as a group but who cares 4/5 together is good enough for me

I dont like ancient dramas cuz i just dont lol so i didnt really like looking at oppa in the ancient costumes but in episode 207 the guys are in mordern clothing so yay. They look so young and saeng opppa

Parkjungmin: “During one of the recordings in Japan, we did not recognize Utada Hikaru who was using the same recording studio with us, and got her to go buy drinks for us.”

as for their shanghai concert, it will be held on 17 so i'm guessing they will fly back to china either on 15 or 16 of feb...

omo today mal is once again flying solo to japan for the weekly show hiroko...
gawd he must be so tired going back and forth like that...
after that coming back to korea, recording for the single and maybe researching for their album then
practice for shanghai concert and then also need to prepare for the peace concert...
omo somehow i feels like tired for them
