Selena plays Kevin's ex-girlfriend who happens to be infected with AIDS. There appears to be a love triangle with Kevin, Niki, and Selena.
vivvo
i wonder when she'll appear in the series..
abc0123
I wonder how Selena is going to interfere with Kevin and Niki's relationship.
shopaholic4lifez
And I remember one part, where this father accused Kevin of killing his daughter.

Does anyone remember that part?

Was it Selena? Some one pls tell me. So exicted to know. I can't wait for the triangle thing eventhough I know the one going to get hurt would be NIKI!!!!

Ok, guys, i can tell you more about Selena's character.

She's called 阮靜 Yuen Jing (Miko)
It's quite small role (a guestrole) she'll be in episodes 11-15

Selena's role has an individual story that lasts 5 episodes, it has a part in Hongkong and a part in Japan for the snowy scenaries. In this drama, her character is quite sad as she is madly in love with Kevin (who was her ex-boyfriend), but she has AIDS, therefore, she hid in japan to die. This girl is a good girl, but got aids and can no longer have a relationship with the one she loves. This role includes a lot of crying scenes and Selena will look really sick and skinny.

Now the pictures, Selena will hid in Japan to die. In the freeze to death scene, she has to wear some think clothing and roll around in the snow.

Thanks for the details on Selena's character! smile.gif

How did she get AIDS?
hyori
Her death is so tragic... >.> wish she would get a bigger role in here.
drkman
omg die in the cold in japan sounds like wat'll happen 2 niki OO
Ida101
seems like a tragic for Selena... but its interesting that Nikki and Selena both have some sort of sickness and both are Kevin's girlfriends..
*.marshmalloww
omgd... freeze to death? that sounds so sad ><"' blehhh. No wonder it's so tragic. And that's probably not the only sad thing. Probably more at the end between KN.
I'm pretty sure Selena will do great in this series XD It sounds like a challenging role.
*.marshmalloww
I saw her in the flashbacks of Ep 11 and I thought she looked SO PRETTY in there!! For some reason TSD makes everyone look so pretty >< I noticed that Niki looked really pretty too.
Anyways, she's pretty good in the flashbacks, but the real challenge is in Japan, where she probably cries more. ^^ Can't wait!

Okay, she only appears in 5 episodes (sad-smiley-065.gif) but at least she is not going to affect NiKe's relationship, I bet she will make the relationship even stronger! It's sad that she went to Japan to die, I wonder how her father will handle it?

She was so cute in the flashbacks but her character seem the same as in SL2.

Indeed Selena looked so pretty!! her hairstyle, her clothes and all, Niki as well - she has that sweet and cute look in TSD. Maybe even prettier than she was in UTCOL. Perhaps their 'prettiness' was to complement the beautiful sceneries in Japan biggrin.gif (have to say Kevin looked really hot in this show as well)

I'm up to episode 12 and she hasn't really 'appeared' in the show yet. Her past with Kevin still remains a mystery so far... I'm guessing she contracted some illness that's why she fled to Japan, and asked Kevin to go with her and lied to him about the guy from the church.....*sigh sleep.gif
lilbabychik819
i wanted her to go back to her dad and just tell him what happen before she died !!!! omg
joeylee22
it's so not realistic
why does she has to hide for 5years?
why doesn't she wants to spend the last years with her father?
it's more painfull for ur family if they don't even if u're alive or not
japan has very strict immigration rules so she stayed there illegal for 5 years? even if she cashed out all her money in hk, japan is a very expensive country, how can u support yourself for 5 years and aids medication is very expensive
i hope there will be a good explanation in the next ep ...

I can't answer other questions about her wealth..... but the reason she wants to be away from her family, I feel... is actually very real.

Her father is a staunch Christian and respected professor (something like that)... the fact that she got AIDS from a one-night stand - kinda ruin her father's reputation and religious beliefs.

I think she feels that she's going to die anyway, so there's difference in letting the family think she's already dead/missing....

She has been a mystery so far for me. Thank you for letting me know more about her smile.gif

I kind of wish the writers didn't play the 'OMG religious devout Christian' card as an explanation, seeing as her actions just kind of broke a whole bunch of commandments (i.e., honoring your mother and father --> she left her dad without a word and just let him think she died; shall not kill --> she was going to kill herself; shall not commit adultery --> she claimed to have had an affair with a married man; lying, etc etc). -____-" So it still makes no sense. The religious-ness still is not a good explanation for her actions.

I think it would make a huge difference between actually letting the father know than just disappearing and letting him think she died. Now the dad blames himself for letting her go with Wayne and not paying closer attention to her. I'm sure the dad cares about her more than his reputation, you know?

Bleh. I know it's just a TV show, but it's annoying to see such a half-assed and badly thought out explanation.

I really love Selena's character here even though its a minor role. She looks really pretty and i just love her smile!
Its actually quite tragic how she got AIDS...and shes still so young. I got teary a couple of times when she would tell how much she is suffering and stuff...so sad...though she still has feelings for kevin...i dont really mind cos then it will also show how much kevin loves niki lol. and shes such a good daughter because she doesnt want to let her dad know she has AIDS and not ruin his reputation as a uni teacher. she rather wants everyone to know that shes disappeared....sighs lol

I was just thinking that her father being a Christian will find it hard to accept her after she has AIDS even though she is his daughter. But wouldn't she be too ashamed to go back? I think the problem does not lie in her father but herself. Guilt is one important drive to cause people to avoid and run away. And I'm sure she wants to give her father the hope of her being alive and well and not slowly seeing her die. Because that is one of the most painful thing a loved one goes through when one is dying.

I really like the fact that she wasn't the b*t*h here (unlike those other series where one girl becomes sick and she becomes so bitchy) but she really love Kevin and wants the best for him. It's no wonder that she is so heartbroken when Niki comes along and tensions arises.

Um. She just left her father and disappeared for five(?) years. Everyone thought she was dead. How does that give the dad hope that she's well? o___O

Plus, if she 'really loves Kevin' then she should have just been happy for him seeing that he's happy and doing well with a new girlfriend instead of acting like a jealous brat and causing trouble for everyone (i.e., the whole 'running out and trying to climb up a mountain trail when she's already like half dead' deal).

I kind of teared when she told Niki the truth and how she contracted AIDS. Her character is really pitiful, I hope she gets to see her dad before she dies.

I think she meant well just that her dad didn't act the ways she expected it to be. At that moment of desperation, I will understand if she just want to run away. She even went to the extent of committing suicide.

I really don't think she was a jealous brat. The whole running up the mountain isn't meant to create more trouble. Notice that she did it with Niki. If she was trying to break Niki and Kevin up, wouldn't she choose to do it when Kevin was around so that Kevin will take more pity on her? And I suppose her motivation was that she has really given up on life but instead of just sitting around and die, she rather die in a more beautiful place and do the things that she want to do. Even without her telling Niki that she still loves Kevin, Niki has already guessed it. Without her being truthful to Niki, Niki would have imagined much more and will be constantly doubtful about their relationship. But now that she truthfully told Niki, Niki is reassured that Kevin is just there to take care of Selena and not some ex-lovers flame. And didn't Selena said that she will just give up when he has such a nice girlfriend? Don't expect her to all so happy when the love of her life appears with his girlfriend when he never said anything at all. So I'm glad that the writers added in the element of hurt when Selena first saw Niki and Kevin together, makes it so much more realistic.

How is the running out stunt not out of jealousy? In my opinion, it was a pretty petty thing to pull. She did it after her plan to get Niki out of the place (by telling her to go out and buy her food even when there's already food prepared) so she and Kevin could be alone failed. Sure, maybe she wasn't trying to break them up, but that doesn't mean it didn't cause trouble for anyone else. I mean, Niki had to go running after her and then also take care of her when she collapsed. How is that not causing trouble? And I don't see how her admitting everything to Niki helped the situation any. It didn't make a difference anyways since Niki had already seen her diary, so it's not like she had doubts about the nature of her relationship with Kevin. The whole thing with her telling Niki everything was just to make her feel sorry for her. I disagree with the idea that the motivation for her actions was that she had given up on life and that she just wanted to 'die in a more beautiful place'. If that was really what she wanted, 1) why send that postcard to Kevin with such a worrisome message, and 2) why choose to do it when there's someone there to stop you? Now it's more just like the suicide attempts were mere cries for attention.
Yunsias ♥
But isn't the fact that people needs to take care of her is already causing troubles? But we don't call it trouble because we deemed it as being nice in respect to Kevin and Niki, so Selena didn't really ask Niki to accompany her. Yes, Niki will get into trouble with Kevin if she let Selena go alone but wouldn't it be better if Selena would just die and save everyone the 'trouble'?

Hidden Text:

I think it made a difference if Selena didn't tell Niki. Niki already knew from her diary and so if Selena just continue to keep quiet, I would feel that Selena is up to something if I were Niki. Notice that after talking to Selena, Niki's only thoughts were that Selena was really pitiful etc etc. Compare it to before, where Niki ask herself is Selena more important to Kevin than her.

The only reason I could say for Selena sending the message to Kevin was that he is her only support throughout this ordeal and he is the only person who knows of her existence. Yes, she expected that Kevin will come all the way after hearing that she has given up but before that she didn't know that he has a girlfriend. It was only after he came with Niki that she had a rude shock. I would think it is normal to want to see him again because she thought that he has NO girlfriend.

I was a bit disappointed when Selena asked Niki to go out so that she could have more time alone with Kevin. But after thinking about it, I realized that her whole world only consist of her and Kevin and nobody else. Now suddenly, another person turns up and takes away Kevin's attention on her. And I bet she has a lot to say to Kevin alone after such a long time apart. So it's understandable.

Another prove of her doesnt want to break up Niki and Kevin: she didn't want to let him see the diary entries and she told him that it could be because of her that Niki went back to HK. It is quite evident that she expects him to comfort and reassure Niki after she tells him.

I'm not condoning her actions. I'm just seeing it in her point of view so that we will better understand the things she does and not just condemn her to be a third party. And she know she is going to die anyway, why go to all the trouble to break them up?
foreverleila
I think Niki's life was more tragic than Selena. I mean even though Selena didn't end up with the man she loved, she didn't have to die. I mean Niki dies in the end and Selena didn't. I mean at least at episode 19 I think Niki received a postcard from Selena congraluting her and Kevin's marriage and in the end of the series, it said nothing about her dying. So we could assume she didn't die in this series right?
seearoundyou
she didn't die at the end but somehow i wish they could give selena a better ending, and perhaps tell if she got better, and maybe she found her 'right one'?? well...
